Unable to save completed form

I am a recipient of a questionnaire on FormsCentral with many pages of input. At a certain point, the program will not let me save my input. I get the following error
Unable to Save Form
An error occurred while tryhing to save your form.
Then an OK button
Someone please help

Hi;
The more information we can get the better we can investigate, can you share with me:
The form URL
Screen shots of the error message the user sees (this would be very helpful)

  • I am unable to save my form responses as a pdf or excel file.

I am unable to save my form responses as a pdf or excel file.  The error message states: Acrobat.com could not save this file. The file might be open in another application and cannot be overwritten.

Did saving ever work or did it fail the first time you tried?
Have you tried to save to multiple locations?  Maybe it has something to do with permissions on the directory you are trying to save to.
Have you tried saving something from another web site to the same location?  Try creating and saving a file in/from https://workspaces.acrobat.com/app.html#o and see if that has the same result.

  • Error while creating task: The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again. (SharePoint 2013)

I get the following error while saving a task inside task list:
"The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
I tried restarting "search service host controller".
The server has 8 GB RAM and according to task manager, 6.67 GB is being used.
I logged into the site with user which is the owner of the site. I tried creating tasks from client as well as the SharePoint server itself. Same error is shown in both the cases.
How do I find information on the exact problem that is causing the error? What are possible solutions?

    Hi robikshrestha,
This error message often shows when there is low memory that can be used, the workaround restart the “SharePoint Search Hosting Controller” service is to release some memory, and make it work. Whether restart the service release memory
    in your situation?
Would you please check whether this issue happens all the time in task list, or happens sometimes when the memory is lower to use. If it doesn’t have a large impact, you can restart the server, check the result. have a look at the event
log and ULS log, see whether there is related information.
If it happens all the time, would you please use other browsers, whether the results are same? This may be caused by some add-ons in IE, like Free Download Manager I have seen.

  • The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again - tried the trust standards...

2013 standard sharepoint server.  Content DBs were on a Trial enterprise server and copied over to standard server. All was good on trial server.
there are 8 sites on server, 2 of the sites cannot create or edit items, they get "The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again"
googling around i tried everything. restarted search host controller, checked ram usage (8gb free), manage content types, iisresets, edit the web.config file ( add things for ram, search host, etc), no alternate access mappings, .net HTTP activation, rebooted
server... I'm sure i missed some.
The server is new install, all but the August HF CUs. Trial server the content DBs came from is at same level.
It is not a server level issue as the other 6 sites are fine. its something with just 2 sites.
    kinda stuck here...
    Thanks,

With the USL Logs were hard to track down what was happening, though I think it was too do with /_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery.
I did the Enable/Disable Anonymous Access on the Directory with no luck.
Brought up Fiddler and Saw that I was getting 401 and 500 Errors on
    GET http://team.intranet.eandm.com/it/_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery HTTP/1.1
So it had something to do with Permissions. I checked the Authentication and the sites that worked had Forms Auth Enabled, and the ones that didn't, didn't have forms Auth enabled.  Enabling it manually was no go.
I then went though the web.config on the working and non-working sites and there were some differences.   The Authentication was Forms on the working site, Windows on the nonworking. There was many things not present. httpModules section was missing,
Many of the Microsoft Identity /Authentication lines etc.
So I Basically took the web.config from the working site and copied it to the non-working site preserving the following line from the original web.config:
    <machineKey validationKey="{key}" decryptionKey="{key}" validation="{hash}" />
After that I had Security Issues, Though I think this was Caused by the July 2014 CU making everything use the Microsoft Identity parts, where as the server I was porting form had the sites created before the July 2014 CU. (though both were at the same level)
Even though all of the users were present in the site security, I had to Drop and re-add them to every site/and list with special Perms.
With the Security Fixed, I no longer received the Error "The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again"
Knock on wood its all functioning fine.

  • The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again

Having created a new custom list (even with only a text field) I am unable add new items to the list - the error message is Unexpected
response from server. The status code of response is '0'. The status text of response is ''. when in 'quick edit'.
If I try to add or modify an item in the list by clicking 'add new item' I get "The
server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
I have restarted the Sharepoint Search Host Controller server but to no avail. I have 24Gb RAM for this server so it's not a
memory issue (8Gb available). I have also tried from various browsers including Chrome and Safari - still the same error message.
This error only occurs on lists. I can edit document properties in a library and have no problems with calendar entries.
There are no entries in the event viewer, so where do I need to begin looking to find out what is (or rather is not) happening?

One thing I noticed in SP 2013 is that if your list has unique permissions and a user/group has permissions only on that list and has limited or no access at the site level, then you run into this error: "The server was unable to save the form at this time.
    Please try again."
This can be resolved by either giving that user/group atleast read access at the site level or in my case I had to create a new permission set (since we cant update limited access permission set) which is same as limited access but with the additional permission
of "Use Remote Interfaces  -  Use SOAP, Web DAV, the Client Object Model or SharePoint Designer interfaces to access the Web site."
I am not sure if this is a bug or as per design, but not allowing a user who has needed permissions at the list level but limited access at site level doesnt seem right. Never ran into this issue in prior version of SharePoint. I tested and this additional
permission doesnt seem to violate any security at site level. But implement this at your risk. No guarantees provided and not responsible for any issues with this implementation if any.

  • Error:- The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again.

    Hi,
I have SP 2013 intranet sites.
I am trying to edit the list item in site and getting the error "The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
I read many article on this forum. to chck web.config file, to restart
“SharePoint Search Hosting Controller” But no help.
Still i am getting this. what could be the reason now.
Please provide the resolution. I am trying to resolve this from last two days.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

Normally, there's something wrong with the form responsible for editing list items. Is it customized? If not, you could use the free SharePoint Designer tool to delete the current form, create a new one (wait some time before caching issues are solved)
and you should be good to go. If it is customized, contact the team responsible for managing it.

  • Unable to Save Interactive Form

    Hi Experts,
I am unable to save any UI elements (viz. Table, Text Fields, etc) on an Interactive Form UI element created using NWDS.
Whenever I create new UI elements on the Interactive form and try clicking on Save Metadata Button of the NWDS the Button doesn't get disable. Similar issue is faced if I explicitily try to close the Interactive Form opened for editing. It gives a pop-up to save the interactive form. On clicking Yes on this pop-up it throws another pop-up that says Save Failed:Null
Installed version for NWDS is 2004s (version7.0 SP15)
The Program files folder on my desktop has the following folder structure
    Program Files -> Adobe -> Designer7.1
Importing the form also results in the same issue
Can you please point out what I am missing?
    Thank you
    Regards
    Abhishek Arya

    hi Abhishek
did you get the solution to your problem?
i am also facing similar issue. whenever after making changes to interactive form i click on "Save Metadata" it has no effect on the form.
the form doesnt get saved and after reopening it shows blank form.
have you found out the reason behind this?

  • Save completed form as PDF

Is it possible to save a completed form as a PDF? Our school is considering using FormsCentral to allow faculty to complete online student Surveys (essentially evaluations of a student's progress). We need to attach the completed survey to the student record in our Student Management System (as a PDF or similar file).
    Thansk for your input... Ken

Yes, but it's in a "detail view" format, not the actual form layout. Check out this FAQ on how to do it: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1383

  • How to save completed form?

    Hi,
I need to be able to upload a formular to my company's webpage, for people to download. Once completed, how do they locally save the file an ordinary pdf format?
We do not want to use the Websoulution, as many of our costumers needs to save the formular locally, maybe send it between several people supplying information, before finally sending it to us.
    Thank you

Only specially enabled forms can be saved with data in Reader. If you have Acrobat Standard or Pro you can save data in forms. Forms can only be enabled for saving with Reader using Acrobat or LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Unable to save a form with missing required fields

I have a form, with required fields, as part of the new hire process. I would like to make sure the user fills in the required fields before closing/saving the form.
I have a custom script that highlights the missing required fields when the complete/validate button is clicked.
This, however, doesn't stop the user from saving the form. As a result, we are getting incomplete forms returned.
Is there a way to stop the user from saving the form until the required fields are filled ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Aditya

I have a "validate" button that sets a flag (for workflow). This button will perform the check and highlight the missing fields.
Once the user completes the form, he/she saves and emails the form. The reason for not having the email button is because not all users will have outlook and wouldn't want to go through the wizard.
I understand your point but I need to know if there is some solid way of not allowing the users to return the form without completing the form.
If I include an email button, the users can still save, by using the toolbar menu, and email the incomplete document.
As we are planning to implement Digital Signatures, would it be possible to have the check in the presign event. Will this prevent the document fron being signed until the required fields are filled ?
    Thanks
    Aditya

  • Adobe Reader unable so save fillable form

I am trying to fill out a PDF Form, but if does not allow me to save changes unless I save a copy. The PDF is already saved as reader extended, I have Adobe XI Pro but several others users only have Adobe Reader. This form was working just fine last week. I tried opening with Reader X and XI and neither will allow me to save the changes.

Thank you I will have them try this.
On a separate note- I am sending these forms on a private social networking site and when they click them it opens in a new browser tab. If they fill it out from the tab and then save it to their computer it does not save what they wrote; its just blank. I have had to have my students save to a computer file first then fill out from there and save it and then upload it again to the site. Is there a way to make it save right from the browser?

  • Unable to save Interactive form content

    Hello Experts,
Can someone tell me how can I save the contents of my pdf locally ? I am only able to save a blank form but not the information that i have filled in. Have experimented with the various possible modes but so far no success. Thank you.

    Kwok Wei

    Hi Kwok,
If you create an XDP with the Designer and save it as PDF form, the PDF will not contain the proper right for saving it.
But if you create an Interactive Form UI in a WD project in the Developer Studio and design your form from Dev Studio, then when the WD application runs, the XDP is tried to sent to the preconfigured ADS (a web service responsible for PDF generation).  If the ADS is configured well and contains the <b>proper credential file</b> for operations such as save, the returning PDF displayed in the browser will contain the right for saving and you can save it locally. From this time the local PDF can be open with Reader and the Reader will always give the possibility for saving.
Do you need only the contents ? Then you can also try the followings:
    1. Save as text... command from the Reader
    2. If you like PS much more then a readable text file, you can also choose Print.. and click on the Print to file checkbox.  (of course this solution rather a joke than a suggestion)

  • Saving a completed form

I've created a PDF form, but when my customer completes the form, he is unable to save it. There is a message that he cannot save the form with data in it; he can only print it.
    He's running Reader 8.
Can you tell me if there's a setting that I need to select to allow my users to save completed forms? Otherwise, I have a big problem.
    Thanks!
    Cindy

Your application is one that may fit within the license restrictions. However, you will need to upgrade from AA7 to get the feature to allow you to do this operation. That may not be within your budget. When I say data file, you simply import it into the FORM in Acrobat. You see exactly what was on the user screen when the completed it. There is no database required. For your budget, this may be your only choice.
As far as e-mail for rental applications, you need to take care. E-mail is not a secure form for submission of sensitive data. There is an outside chance you could get yourself in a legal bind if any sensitive data is included in the application. This is an aspect you would have to discuss with a lawyer, but then you run into the budget issue again.
I am not trying to fight your use, but indicate what can and cannot be done, as well as point out some potential problems. The e-mail of an application comes to the forefront as a potential privacy issue and you should be aware of that. I can not make judgements here, but am just raising a flag.

  • Unable to save a filled-out form

I have tried to complete a form and save it to my PC as it is one I use fairly regularly for my work. I now get a message saying "Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records." I have checked and my membership auto-renewed in September so I do not understand why I am unable to amend and save this form the same way I was able to previously with the same level of membership. Can you please explain?

    HI botanicsdc,
If you're filling out the form via Adobe Reader, it needs to be Reader-enabled for you to save the data that you enter into it. Please see https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-to-enter-form-data-using-adobe-reader for more information.

  • Unable to SAVE data through a data form in Hyperion Planning

    Hi,
I recently migrated an application from development to QA using the LCM tool and refreshed the outline into Essbase using Planning Web. Once completed, i loaded the level0 data and aggregated it.
I opened a data form and tried to SAVE data and i get an error stating: "There was an error during the save process".
I tried saving the data using another form and i was successful at it. I re-migrated the data-form i was having an issue with and tried again. Thist time I get an error "Communication error with server. Callback failed for data entry page". This error shows up now on every form and every application.
Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I don't know if that patch will help you or not. It addresses a specific issue related to text data types. Your issue sounds similar, in that it appears to be triggered via the existence of specific data. The issue we were describing above presents itself when opening the form, and not when saving the form. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds as though there is some type of mismatch between the data types that Planning is expecting to display and save on the form, and the format of the existing data in Essbase.
You said that you can't save the form once the data is loaded into a particular version. Here's what I'd do to narrow the issue down:
    1) Copy the data into your version so that the form will NOT save. (ensuring that the issue is present)
    2) Start selectively deleting data from the version. Write a quick calc script that clears certain data, account, by account.
    3) After each selective delete, make a note of the account you cleared. You'll only need to clear accounts that are present on the form.
    4) After each selective delete, refresh the form, and then try to save.
At some point, I expect the save will be successful. You'll then know what data was causing the issue. I'm guessing that this data (probably a specific account) will have a data type that doesn't match up with the data in Essbase. It could be defined as a Smart List that wasn't migrated. Or a text value that doesn't exist in the app repository. Something like that.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake
