Unable to upgrade due to a conflict [SOLVED]

Greetings you all.
I've been tried to upgrade my system and I've been unable to do it due to a conflict between xf86-video-openchrome and unichrome-dri.
This is the pacman output:
[root@Viper /]# pacman -Syu

Can anybody tel me how do I solve this?
I already have libgl installed...
[root@Viper /]# pacman -S libgl

:: nouveau-dri: requires libgl=7.11.2

[root@Viper /]# pacman -Q libgl
libgl 7.11.2-1
If trying to uninstall unichrome-dri, it returns:
[root@Viper /]# pacman -R unichrome-dri
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: xf86-video-openchrome: requires unichrome-dri
And by the way, is it safe do replace all those items that appeared before?
Thank you all.

Thanks for your quick response, but only today I had a chance of look into this again...
I use an on board chipset from VIA Technologies, and the only way I figured to get that old gadget (VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M890) working is by using Openchrome. Mesa simply doesn't work and vesa has some issues.
So I followed your advice, by removing xf86-video-openchrome, updating and installing it again.
Everything is working now.
Thanks a lot.

I don't know if maybe that one key that isn't being found on the server could be the issue? I have tried several different key servers and they all output the same information. Which is to be expected I assume.

Yup, followed the instructions on the pacman-key wiki page. I have been upgrading fine for months sincfe then and was able to upgrade with no problems the day before and then all of a sudden now I can't. I am pretty sure I haven't changed any settings anywhere that would have caused this. I'm using SigLevel = Optional DatabaseOptional TrustedOnly.
    EDIT:
I changed to SigLevel = Never and pacman reported that a lot of the package files were corrupted and asked if I wanted to delete them. I deleted them and ran pacman -Syyu again, everything working now.
Why didn't pacman tell me the files were corrupted and ask if I wanted to delete them while I was using SigLevel = Optional DatabaseOptional TrustedOnly?

  • Cannot upgrade due to dependency conflict

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my system through
    pacman -Syu
However, the update procedure aborts with an error saying that Firefox-3.5 requires Xulrunner-1.9.1, below is the relevant part of the output:
    resolving dependencies...
    warning: dependency cycle detected:
warning: xorg-server will be installed before its nvidia-utils dependency
    looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: firefox-3.5: requires xulrunner=1.9.1
I have checked, and it seems that the correct version of xulrunner is installed:
    $ pacman -Qi xulrunner
    Name : xulrunner
    Version : 1.9.1-1
    URL : http://wiki.mozilla.org/XUL:Xul_Runner

Install Date : Fri 10 Jul 2009 06:03:42 PM CEST

Google has given me little help in this issue, so I am asking wether someone else has already encountered this problem, and what the solution can be.

evr wrote:you shoud be able to force the update of xulrunner and then recompile firefox-3.5 with the new version.  Any reason you're using that version instead of the firefox in extra?
why force it when it can do much easy. pacman -R firefox-3.5 and then pacman -Syu firefox
Hi, Wonder, thanks for the reply. That solved my problem.
Evr: I was using the AUR-version only by fault, I do not know how I have not seen that there was the same package available in the repositories as well...

  • Ruby-cairo upgrade file conflicts [solved]

I did a 'pacman -Su' and it tried to upgrade ruby-cairo but it then bombed out due to file conflicts. If I do a 'pacman -Qu ruby-cairo' it says the package does not exist, even though I'm pretty sure I installed it in the past and hence why there are file conflicts. farrel@ages ~ $ pacman -Qo /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/cairo.rb
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/cairo.rb is owned by ruby-rcairo 1.8.0-2
So there's ruby-rcairo (what I have installed) and ruby-cairo which is what it's trying to install. I can probably just remove ruby-rcairo and install ruby-cairo.

  • I would like to install BBC iPlayer but AIR is unable to upgrade from  2.5.1.17330

I am unable to install i Player because AIR is unable to upgrade to the latest version
I have tried upgrade AIR without iPlayer, and that runs into the same problems with Adobe AIR installer
I have tried uninstalling Air completely, in order to start from scratch, but that is refused saying that I should contact my administrator.
    I am the admministrator.
Consequently I appear to be stuck with AIR version 2.5.1.17730 and cannot load the BBC iPlayer desktop.

I have iphoto on my apple airwave. It is needing upated, but I am unable to update due to my exhusband. It was purchased under his itunes account. I can no longer even see my pics. What do I do.

Can I back up my iPhoto library without being able to get into it? Such a mess.
Just try what LarryHN recommended. Move the iPhoto application from the Applications folder to the Trash, then go the main page of the App Store, sign into the store menu with your AppleID, enter iPhoto into the Search Field.  When iPhoto is found in the store, look, if you can buy it for free. Probably there will be a "Get" button beside the application. Then you can install it for free.
Before you run the newly installed iPhoto, make sure you have a backup.  You should really not risk to run a new iPhoto version on your iPhoto library, before you copied the iPhoto Library to a different drive.
iPhoto needs to convert the library to a different format, and that can go wrong in rare cases, but it happens. You simply need to have a copy of your library before you risk the library upgrade.

  • Unable to upgrade Camera Raw with CS4 in Lion...

    Hi All,
very frustrating; I have been unable to upgrade Camera Raw despite several attempts.
I've downloaded the latest version as an upgrade; I've done Software upgrades through PhotoShop, but for some
reason these do not seem to have taken, ie., the version of ACR in Bridge preferences remains 5.0.
This makes it impossible for the computer (a brand new MacBook Pro) to read or convert to DNG raw files
    from a Nikon D300S.
Oddly, ACR 5.0 converts raw files from a D700 just fine.
Also puzzling is that my attempt to upgrade to ACR 5.7 in a 5 month old iMac have been smooth as silk (OS 10.6.7)
    Help!
    Stu Rosner

At one point, I was one of the most vocal critics of camera raw in the CS4 / Lightroom v2 days. In short, I felt that there was not enough control over noise reduction and fine detail rendition when processing digital camera raw files, especially at higher ISOs, although I had been quite pleased with earlier versions. That all changed when CS5 / LR v3 was released. You now have an enormous amount of control over exactly how much sharpening and how much noise reduction will be applied to an image. The amount of fine detail one can extract from a low-ISO raw file is extraordinary. When you crank up the ISO and an image gets noisy, you now can choose whether or not you prefer a smoother look at the expense of some of the more subtle texture details, or a slightly grainier look where one has a feeling that no significant fine details are lost from the original capture (what I prefer). The raw processing defaults in Adobe's latest software are good starting points, but for my personal tastes, I generally do modify them a bit with less NR and slightly more sharpening at a smaller radius.
Even out-of-camera JPEG files will benefit from the new processing engine. I find that turning down the sharpening and NR in-camera, and then applying some subtle tweaking in LR, for example, makes for much better looking images even when starting from a JPEG. If you are a raw shooter, like I am, then upgrading to the latest Photoshop and Lightroom is absolutely 100% worthwhile in my opinion!
I personally feel that the quality of raw conversions in Adobe's latest software are pretty much the best there are. I have used many other raw converters (Capture One, Aperture, RAW Developer, Silky Pix, Canon's DPP etc.), and while each have their strengths, overall I far prefer the look of the final image from Adobe's latest software. Sure, I might find the colour rendition slightly better, in some cases, from some other raw converters, but colour I can fix. Poor detail rendition or heavy-handed/crude noise reduction I cannot.
EDIT: Also should mention how good the lens correction controls are. Not only are there automatic lens corrections available (possibly of limited use with an M8 due to potential lack of lens EXIF information), but the manual corrections are extremely useful. Chromatic aberration, vignetting, highlight fringing and distortion control all work extremely well and are minimally harmful to image quality, unlike performing those same corrections in Photoshop after the raw conversion stage. You also have excellent perspective corrections that, amazingly enough, seem to have very little impact on image quality even when fairly dramatic adjustments are made.
Lastly, I own both Noise Ninja and Topaz DeNoise and since upgrading to Adobe's latest software, I don't think I have felt the need to use either of those two third party NR plugins once. Purely from a noise reduction standpoint, upgrading to CS5 or LR v3 is almost like getting a new camera, almost like moving from a cropped sensor to a full-frame as far as high-ISO image quality.
I would suggest you download Lightroom v3 and give the 30 trial version a whirl. Spend some time in the Detail section of the Develop module and make sure that for each image you are looking at, ones that you may have edited in previous versions of Camera Raw or Lightroom, that you have "2010(Current)" chosen in the "Process:" section of the CameraCalibration tab in Develop. That will ensure that you are fully benefitting from the latest raw conversion engine. Zoom in to 100% before you tweak the Detail settings to make sure you are seeing actual pixel-level detail. I think you may be amazed at what you can do...

  • Unable to upgrade a LR1 or an LR2 Catalogue in LR3 or LR4

Unable to upgrade a LR1 or an LR2 Catalogue in LR3 or LR4.  Both LR3 and LR4 try to upgrade the LR1/LR2 Catalogs but then give an error message saying it is unable to upgrade the catalog just before opening.  Can anyone help?  I'm using all updated versions....

    Problem solved
There maybe a problem upgrading a catalogue from PowerPC to an Intel.  I finally mangaged to open my (PowerPC) LR1 catalog in (Intel) LR4 by installing the trial version of LR2 on the Intel, opening the LR1 catalog in LR2, and then opening the new LR2 catalog in LR4 which will then upgrade it.  Problem solved.

  • Unable to upgrade to windows 8.1

I have an HP ENVY 15t Quad TouchSmart - E4T18AV laptop which I bought from the US online store in July 2013.
I reside in Singapore right now. Its been a while since the microsoft announced free upgrade to windows 8.1 but my laptop has been unable to upgrade. There is no upgrade notification when I launch the HP support assistant nor does the app store show any.
Is it something to do with my being in Singapore and my laptop having being bought in US? How do I upgrade it to windows 8.1?
     Thanks in advance.

    Hi there @greenseer
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are looking for help with upgrading to Windows 8.1. I am happy to help with this.
Firstly the HP Support assistant is not going to offer an operating system change as an update. Mostly it is handling updated drivers from the website. For the WIndows 8.1 upgrade, you should look at the Microsoft website itself.
Please see  the following tutorial on the Microsoft website:
    Update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 - windows.microsoft.com
    I hope this helps.

    Hi
If you stopped JBoss server or stopped process of importing AD connector in between earlier, This problem comes.
    I had experienced this.
If you had taken back up of your database before importing AD connector, restore to it and try again.
