Unable to use JCE providers with OC4J server

I am trying to use a JCE encryption provider. I am able to execute the following code inside a standard class just fine. But when I move it into a jsp and run it on the OC4J server the getInstance() line throws the following exception.
java.lang.SecurityException: The JCE framework is invalid.

See CRM Modules and OA Framework for alternative encryption methods on Oracle, but this does not help me because my code is not written for Oracle only.
It seems to me that I can't use Oracle Application Server for this project. This is a big flaw in the OC4J not to be able to use standard api from Sun!!!!. I think Oracle staff has to do some refactoring of its code, because it Stinks.
I am looking for alternative Application Server, Iam trying out BEA Weblogic now.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Sybase Connectivity Issues with OC4J Server

I am trying to access a Sybase Database using JDeveloper.
I have downloaded the sybase Jconnect product(version 5.5) and am able to access the database through the IDE.
I have created a test jspx document to validate the DB connectivity. When I attempt to run the document. I am getting the following error from the OC4J server: javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Unable to get connection, DataSource invalid: "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver".
The document code is as follows:

I created a db connection called AgileSCM in JDeveloper which is accessing the Sybase database. I tried coding the document with and with out specifying the datasource with the same result. Am I not doing something really simple?

          context factory to bind MQ.
          We found a number of LDAP connections are getting opened by JNDIMapper, but it's
          not getting closed.
          Can some one give some clue to this ?
          Also any suggestion to serve the current purpose is welcome.

What version are you using? "wlsmqseries.zip" does enlisting of MQ JMS
          sessions in XA transactions, but WLS 8.1 does that for you out of the box.
          If you're using 8.1, it would be better to use the new 8.1 features for
          foreign JMS providers.
          A place to start is the "Using WebLogic JMS with EJBs and Servlets" section
          of the JMS programming documentation for 8.1, and there have been many other
          posts on this newsgroup with details. (There also appear to be quite a few
          customers using this feature in their own systems, judging from the number
          of posts.)

Unable to use 'copy' feature with registered version of quicktime pro.

I have a registered version of Quicktime pro (7.1.6), and i am unable to use the copy feature. I captured several videos from work using a windows box and an application whose name escapes me at the moment. Due to the windows app being garbage, i was only able to capture in MPEG1 format (MPEG2 caused the app to crash, of course). I have brought the files home and am now unable to copy selections of it for exporting into smaller files. I can highlight lengths of the video (no audio, just video) but the 'copy' feature is grayed out still. Any ideas on what is causing this? The video format is as follows:
MPEG1 Muxed, 640 x 480
FPS: 29.97
Data rate: 4066.42 kbits/sec
I'm running 10.3.9, but have also had no success on a 10.4 macmini, so the OS doesn't seem to be the issue.
I'm trying to get this video into imovie, but since it's over 600 megs, imovie cops out after a few hours and says it can't import it.
Help?

Not all multiplexed videos come with AC3. They don't have to have audio in the first place. Some of them come with Linear PCM, which is the case for iDVD's VOB files, and MP2. If a multiplexed video is equipped with AC3, you are right, and the resulting modified sub-clip won't contain audio. But if it's Linear PCM or MP2, the edited sub-clip will contain audio.

How to use lexical parameters with Sql Server Stored Procedure?

Hi,
I'm developing a BI Publisher report on a sql server database. I need to execute a stored procedure to dynamically build the query by replacing the lexical parameters with the values of varaibles of the stored procedure. With Oracle stored procedures, I have used data template and had reference the varaiable in SP by prefixing it with '&'.
It doesn't work if I try to do the same thing with SQL server. Is there anyone who has come across the similar situation? Please let me know if anyone has got any ideas...

Can't use sqltaglib.tld with oc4j

I can't get sqltaglib.tld to work on oc4j(9.0.2.1).
I've added sqltaglib.tld to default-web-app\WEB-INF, with ojsp.jar, ojsputil.jar and xmlparserv2.jar on both oc4j\lib and oc4j\j2ee\home\lib. However, I always get HTTP 500 Internal server error. The oc4j server runs JSP fine without sqltaglib.
Do I miss anything?

There should be any need to copy the jar files.
The tld file would be under /web-inf
Could you please check the ojspdemos which are available with oc4j standalone and test the sql tag lib examples.
Please find the ojspdemos.ear under /j2ee/home/demo directory.

Use of PVKConverter with SQL Server 2012 SP2

I am trying to convert a certificate that was exported from our database server to be used by SQL Server for database encryption. When I run the PVKConverter, not Private Key File (PVK) is generated.
The certificate has Server and Client Authentication as the purposes of the certificate.
What purpose or purposes does the certificate need in order to be able to be used by SQL Server 2012 SP2?
Why doesn't the PVKConverter generate a private key file?
I can use the command makecerts to generate a self signed certificate and have it work with SQL Server database encryption.

Based on my research, SQL Server supports the importing of existing security certificates, specified as a pair of files that are encoded in PVK/DER format. Below Transact-SQL script displays the basic key file format for SQL Server database encryption.
CREATE CERTIFICATE <Certificate name>

WITH PRIVATE KEY (FILE = '<PVK/DER format file>.pvk',
DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = '<Encryption password>');
According to your description, PVKConverter doesn’t generate a private key file. PVKConverter is used to generate PVK/DER encoded security certificates from existing PFX encoded security certificates. Thus, please ensure that your certificate is encoded in
PFX format and make sure you perform all the steps properly as described in the
KB article.

Unable to Use Star Rating With JPG

I have been unable to use the star rating with a certain batch of jpgs. I am able to use the star rating with dng files, and other jpgs, but there is a batch that I got off of my friends computer that I am unable to use the star rating with. I have tried clicking on the stars, and also through the label tab, but nothing is working. Its really annoying because rating the pics is part of my workflow and I want to get these picture done.
I'm using CS5 on a Mac running 10.6.8

Still strange things going on in the digital world...
Recently I had the same with jpeg from other (to me unknown) sources. I managed with opening in PS and again save as max quality (not ideal but it worked). Those were only a few files.
You might first try a few files to open and close in PS, if no luck make a duplicate (select some files for testing and with right mouse click choose duplicate) try those first. If still out of luck try the open and save as option. If this is the only solution the you can create a temporarily action for this in PS (don't change the filename when in save as but leave it untouched and choose a new folder for destination so you won't loose the originals). When in Bridge select the files for the action, choose tools/photoshop/batch and run the action, piece of cake.

For 2 weeks, I have been unable to use sync & it says that server maintenance is underway & will resume automatically; need to transfer history to a new laptop

For about 2 weeks, I have been unable to use sync. I keep getting a message that says server maintenance is underway & will resume automatically. How long will this maintenance last? I urgently need to transfer my history to a new laptop and return the one I am currently. My deadline for this is tomorrow as I have run out of time to complete this process

I have reset sync and the messages have stopped coming (I hope I have not messed things up). However, I still don't think sync is working (how do I confirm?).
I don't recall all of the exact words of the error message but it was similar to this: sync operation failed server maintenance is underway and will resume automatically. To check server status (click on something). Each time I clicked on the button provided, I was directed to a mozilla page which informed me that most people are able to use firefox sync and that additional capacity was on the way.
To confirm if rectification of the error had occurred, I tried getting sync on my other laptop to update and I got a similar error.
Yes this has been going on everyday for 2 weeks. I have been given a new laptop where I work and was given some time to transfer all my files. The deadline expires today and am to return the old one tomorrow.
Is there a way I can permanently reset sync to just take in my most recent history and passwords?

Problems using Outlook 2013 with Exchange Server Small Business Server 2003

Hello,
We have just upgraded our Office suite from Office 2007 Pro to Office 2013 Pro. When I try to configure Outlook 2013 to connect to Exchange Server 6.5 (SMS 2003) I get an error "Outlook 2013 being blocked by current version of Exchange Server".
Outlook 2013 at present is not communicating with Exchange server 6.5
Are there any fixes I have to install on our SMS 2003 server to allow Outlook 2013 to work with SMS 2003 Exchange Server?
Any configuration changes I need to make? Any help is appreciated.

Unable to use IN clause with omniportlet

I am attempting to use a stored procedure with omniportlet. I have put together an IN clause in my sql statement that will not work. I think it is because of the way omniportlet handles tics, or something.
I had a similar post on using an ORDER BY with omniportlet that I suspect is a related error.
I am trying to use omniportlet, but I must confess that I am not very impressed. The SQL part of omniportlet leaves a lot to be desired.
Does anyone know when there will be a new version?

I try to use an IN clause like this ('item1','item2','item3'). If I type it in, it works. I am feeding it via a picklist from a dynamic page. If I choose 1 item, it works. If I pass more than one item and try to build my string in the stored procedure for the IN to use, I can't get it to work. I have tried creating a list with the tics and commas, leaving off the first and last tics and just using the ones in the rest of the string.
NOTHING WORKS. I have an insert inside my stored procedure that puts the string I am building inside a test table, so I know what I am using works in SQL/PLUS. Just not omniportlet. I suspect it is the same kind of problem referenced in the above url.
There is a bug with using omniportlet when your IN clause is a variable.
