Unblacklist an Address or Domain

OK, I realize this is not a huge issue, but it's frustrating me and I would like to learn the solution. One of my staff is getting married and signed up with "theknot.com" This site sends offers from the email address "[email protected]" The trouble is that my amvisd.conf file is set up to soft-blacklist senders with "offers" in the sender address. In general, this makes good filtering sense, but I would like to allow "[email protected]" to get through.
In other words, the following line appears in my amavisd.conf file:
new_RE( # regexp-type lookup table, just happens to be all soft-blacklist
[qr'^(bulkmail|offers|cheapbenefits|earnmoney|foryou)@'i => 5.0],
I tried adding "unblacklist_from [email protected]" to "/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf", but that has no effect (whitelisting and blacklisting there usually works fine).
The email still gets quarantined with the header:
Delivered-To: spam-quarantine
X-Envelope-From: <[email protected]>
X-Envelope-To: <[email protected]>
X-Quarantine-ID: <151zZ4Ihi34J>
X-Spam-Flag: YES
X-Spam-Score: 5

Any ideas about why unblacklisting this isn't working?

I think I may have figured this out. I will not know for sure until I see something from "[email protected]" pass through again. However, just in case anyone is interested, I'll explain what I think is at work here.
By the way, what I am about to say applies to the newest version of the amavisd.conf file. It is not an issue with the older amavisd.conf file that comes with the stock 10.4 server install.
"Section V" of the new amavisd.conf file seems to have two kinds of blacklisting -- SOFT BLACKLISTING AND BLACKLISTING. Both are uncommented in the the unedited amavisd.conf file.
The first type, SOFT BLACKLISTING, takes a soft approach and just adds score points to e-mails from certain senders:
# Instead of hard black- or whitelisting, a softer approach is to add
# score points (penalties) to the SA score for mail from certain senders."
The second type, BLACKLISTING, takes a "hard" approach:
# BLACKLISTING: messages from specified SENDERS are DECLARED SPAM.
Since the file comes with both of these types uncommented, the hard blacklisting overrides soft blacklisting.
To solve this problem, I commented out the following HARD BLACKLIST lines:
# illustrates the use of regexp lookup table:
@blacklistsendermaps = ( new_RE(
qr'^(bulkmail|offers|cheapbenefits|earnmoney|foryou|greatcasino)@'i,
qr'^(investments|loseweighttoday|market\.alert|money2you|MyGreenCard)@'i,
qr'^(new\.tld\.registry|opt-out|opt-in|optin|saveonlsmoking2002k)@'i,
qr'^(specialoffer|specialoffers|stockalert|stopsnoring|wantsome)@'i,
qr'^(workathome|yesitsfree|your_friend|greatoffers)@'i,
qr'^(inkjetplanet|marketopt|MakeMoney)\d*@'i,
I left the SOFT BLACKLIST table active. I think this will fix the problem.

  • How to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server

    Hello,
We want to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server, please could you indicate the steps or procedure to follow?
    I need your help
    thank you

If it's 3.1 just change them, shouldn't cause any issues if by domain name you are referring to changing the domain the computer belongs to. If you are changing your domain for AD authentication then you will may have to take quite a few steps if the old domain is going away. Let us know.

  • How do I find my server address, directory domain or MAC OS x server?

I went into systerm preferences, then accounts, in Login Options it has Network Account Server (Join . .) when I hit Join it asks for my server address, directory domain or MAC OS X Server?  Are these all the same addresses?  Also how do I find mine?  Is it an IP address.  I just need a simple answer.
FYI I'm on a wireless network on Airport Extreme.  I also have a MacBook Pro Lion 10.7.5 hooked up with this and my MAC. When I click on Network on the MacBook Pro Lion 10.7.5 Wi-Fi comes up instead of Airport Extreme.  Do I even need to join the Network Account Server in Account Preferences?  Thank you in advance if anyone can help me

Do I even need to join the Network Account Server in Account Preferences?
No. There is no network account server.

  • Exchange Safe Sender & White/Black listing addresses and domains.

Well, I posted this a while back and it got archived with no response. I'm pretty astounded how NOT ONE PERSON is even interested in this ability?!?! I'm still peeved having to launch another app to white/black-list senders.
    ...orig. message...
In the Exchange world, the ability to setup one's "Safe Sender" list is pretty important. I'm not seeing any way for one to do any of the following for an Exchange account from within Apple Mail:
    * Add an address to one's Safe Sender's list (Exchange)
    * Whitelist/Blacklist an address or domain (Exchange)
    Any ideas out there folks?

    Hi,
Are you able to add any other Address to safe sender in OWA? if not, Please try and post the the result.
Is "trust e-mail from my Contacts" checked in Outlook or OWA? If so, uncheck it and try again.
Did you use the below cmdlet and checked
    "set-mailbox [email protected] -MaxSafeSenders 5024"
    Set-MailboxJunkEmailConfiguration
Mark as Answer/Helpful Post if it helps

  • Externally Hosted DNS - How do I set up my 2003 DNS server for sub domain to point to internal IP address??

I have a domain name(domain.com) DNS hosted at my ISP. I also have 3 sub domains DNS hosted at the same ISP pointing to various external ip addresses (mail.domain.com, vpn.domain.com and ts.domain.com). We want to set up sales.domain.com to point to an
internal 10. IP address. We have AD integrated DNS servers for our 2003 AD domain. The AD domain name is totally different than the hosted domain name in question. I currently edit the host file for a couple of PC's but this isnt practical company wide so
I want to add entries on our internal AD DNS servers to resolve the locally hosted site. If i recall, someone once told me that you cannot just put an A record for one sub domain, I would have to have entries on my 2003 DNS server to resolve anything related
to the domain.com name. Is this accurate? If so, what is the proper way to configure my 2003 AD DNS server to resolve anything domain.com related for my internal users while still allowing my ISP to do the DNS lookup for the internet.

On my 2003 AD integrated DNS server...i rightclick forward lookup zone and choose...new zone..primary zone (store zone in AD checkbox checked)..i chose to all DNS servers in the AD domain for replication...zone name sales.domain.com....allow secure updates
option....then i added an A record in that zone...sales.domain.com..pointed that towards my internal 10. IP address...is this correct? It seems to be working correctly for the sales.domain.com DNS record...and i tested the other sub domains...and those look
like they are going to my ISP for DNS resolution...
Is this the correct procedure? I did this on a test AD domain and not my production...i want to make sure i dont break everything under the domain.com by incorrectly adding 1 sub domain..

  • Unable to add account to Outlook 2010 for email address under custom domain

I am unable to add a new account in Outlook 2010 for an email account set up under a custom domain.
Can anyone explain why login credentials that work for outlook.com (successful access to email inbox) return an authentication failure (401 error) when used to test connectivity via https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com?
    Details:
I set up a custom domain at https://domains.live.com and did the following DNS configuration steps at my web hosting company following instructions from domains.live.com:
    Created custom MX record
Created CNAME record [name:] autodiscover.jrergonomics.com [value:] autodiscover.outlook.com.
I created email addresses at domains.live.com > jrergonomics.com > Member accounts and tested by successfully logging in to outlook.com.
When I try to add either account to Outlook 2010, I get a popup box with this information:
    Title: "Windows Security"
    Connecting to [email protected]
    [[email protected]]
    [ ] Remember my credentials
                                       [   OK   ]  [  Cancel
The credentials that I use successfully to log in to outlook.com don't work here; I get the popup box 3-4 times and then the Outlook 2010 Add New Account dialog displays an error:
"An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available. Click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection."
Clicking Next results in an error message:

  • [Solved] Find domain names from ip addresses bash cli

I am trying to figure out if there is a reliable way (or any way) to convert ip addresses to domain names in the terminal. Like etherape does.

I tried whois and cannot seem to get the data I am looking for. It tells me a lot of good information. Just no actual domain name.

  • Channel for incoming mail addressed to specific domain

I am trying to create a channel for all incoming messages addressed to a specific domain.
I know that all incoming Internet mails go to tcp_local first.
What I want to do is to separate mails for different domains to different channels so I could later process them, either with conversion channel or with some channel filters.
Also, after passing trough those specific channels, how to put those mails back on track for delivery?
Can anyone help on doing this?
    Thanks
    Im running (on Solaris 8) MS5.2p1 hf1.21

To look over the docs but I already did, and its pretty bad, poorly explained
So, please lets try to make this clear.
Note, every time after making changes I run:
    imsimta cnbuild
    imsimta restart
First, you gave an example to me (reply 5):
    [email protected]%tcp_friendly-daemon
Second, I was not sure from your post where to put space (reply6), and I tested both cases:
    domain.net$E$F [email protected]%tcp_friendly-daemon # space between $F and $U
    and
    domain.net [email protected]%tcp_friendly-daemon # space between domain.net and $E
    Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
Third, you wrote (reply 7) No spaces.
Forth, I tested that as well and it gave me an error (reply 8).
Fifth, in your last reply (reply 9) you said that I need a left and a right half, and you suggested an example that Ive already checked (reply 6) and it wasnt working :(
So, now I am completely lost
Here is the result of testing this last example in imta.cnf:
    domain.net [email protected]%tcp_friendly-daemon # space between domain.net and $E
    ! tcp_friendly
tcp_friendly smtp mx single_sys subdirs 20 noreverse maxjobs 7 pool SMTP_POOL mailfromdnsverify maytlsserver allowswitchchannel saslswitchchannel tcp_auth
    tcp_friendly-daemon
    imsimta cnbuild
    imsimta restart
imsimta test -rewrite -debug [email protected]
Could you review this result, please and try to see what is wrong.

  • Allowed Senders - Does it have to be individual addresses or can domain be specified?

Just wondering if I can add a wildcard address or domain name so that all print requests from a particular @mydomain.com go through.  Is this possible?

    Hello pintor,
It is not possible to enter a domain so that all email ID's in that domain can send an email to printer.
We should add individual email ID's to the Allowed Senders List to whom you want to provide access.

Our company is running Exchange 2007, OWA enabled, EWS is setup, Auto discovery is enable. The only thing I haven't got an answer on is whether Service Pack 4 has been installed. The server is set up with a domain specified but I don't know where to include that in the Mail Account Setup. Mail seems to be locating the server fine but it says username or password can not be verified. I can only assume that it's because I haven't included the domain correctly.
iPad (and I assume iPhone/iTouch) have a field in their setup to include the domain and a coworker is connecting fine with to the company server. Where is it in Mail? I have tried to prepend it to my username (domain/username) but it hasn't worked. I can't recall all the variations I have tried of this, but unless I have the domain first in the username field, Mail won't even connect to the server. I've been all over these boards and dozens more and I can't find any answers to this problem.
Any here have any ideas? Thanks,
    Mike D

I already read that one and it fails to address the domain question, but thank you for the suggestion.

    Bump.
I still haven't found an answer to this. Anyone else have any ideas. Still waiting to hear back from out IT guys about the service pack issues.
Is there any way to attach a screen grab to a post? Thought it might help paint the picture in case I haven't stated it clearly.
Again, thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hi. I'm having precisely the same problem. My Exchange account works like a charm on my iPhone, but all permutations of the same settings simply don't work in OS X Mail (v. 4.3).
Has anyone out there set up an Exchange account with a domain? Can you tell us where you put it to get the account to work?

    Enter your username as:
    <domain>\<username>
This is standard practice for Microsoft if there's no place to enter the domain name.

Thanks Asatoran. That turned out to be part of the solution for me. The other part was changing the port I used for the SSL connection -- it was set wrong at some point, either because the default was wrong, or because I forgot I had changed it in troubleshooting before trying the slash the way you suggest. Anyway, the port number for some reason doesn't show up on my iPhone settings, so it didn't occur to me to tweak it.2.0 GHz MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 4GB RAM

    Hi!
Could you please state the port numer you changed from and to?
I´m having the same problem and still can´t access the exchange server outside the company network.
But it seems like Mail 4.3 tryes to use the internal server and never the external? Any tips on this?MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

    <domain>\<username> worked for me... FINALLY!!
Thanks muchMacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iMac

Quit your mail entirely, then in terminal do:
    mv ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope* ~/Desktop
This moves all your "Envelope Index*" files to your desktop.  An alternative is deleting the files, but this allows you to keep them as a temporary back-up (you can delete them at-will later).  Also, you can move the files from Finder instead of Terminal, if you prefer.
After the files have been moved, re-open Mail
This should re-load all your email messages, updating/restoring the count
While this works, it does not explain the reason the count goes missing, nor does it ensure that the count won't go missing again in the future, but at least it's a temporary workaround.
