Undeploying war file
I am trying to undeploy a war file using the iasdeploy removemodule
-verbose csa.war command. It says that it finishing deploying, which is
odd, and then it still shows up in the IAS registry under the j2ee
modules. Is this the correct way to undeploy a war file? Is there
something else I have to do?
Thanks,
Bryan
Are you using kregedit or iASAT to verify the existence of the modules? My
experience is that for kregedit, you need to "collapse" and then "expand"
the J2EE Modules branch to see the latest changes after you remove the
modules. For iASAT, you need to perfrom a "refresh" action (an option from
the menu) to see the latest changes. BTW, I can remove module by using the
command just like what you did.

OC4J - Undeploy war file problem
I have an application, and deploy the war file, I make a new war and when I go to deploy the next error appaers:
Error while de-serializing the information concerning the J2EE application from the PersistentObject named: inv with description: J2EE application: inv Root Cause:
oracle.ias.sysmgmt,common,Init.Parameters; is no Serializable.
In the web server the only change was modify the IP number.
What can I do?
Thanks,

[email protected]Given your war file looks like this:
jspapp.war
|___ META-INF
| |___ Manifest.MF
|___ WEB-INF
| |___ web.xml
|
|___whatever.jspYou should copy the jspapp.war file to the webapps directory of your Tomcat (I'm assuming your using Tomcat).
Then your context would look like:
<Context path="/jspapp" docBase="jspapp" debug="0" reloadable="true"/>
You don't need the c:\. There is no c:\ in your war file. -

[email protected]Here are some links that might be helpful.
http://www.weblogic.com/docs60/servlet/admin.html
http://www.weblogic.com/docs60/programming/webappdeployment.html
The first link has an overview of web app structure and some useful links to
more information on web apps. The second link describes the web.xml and
weblogic.xml files.
Error messages related to web app creation and url resolution will be printed
in the weblogic.log file which is in the directory where you start the WebLogic
server.

I'm sure it has something to do with the structure of my war file or the deployment descriptors, can you point me to some good documentation of them. Also is there anyway to view error messages?

I have same problem as Joe posted.
How come BEA support team does not answer this question?

It's Bea's application bug or is something wrong with our manipulation?First the newsgroups are not BEA support. I would think it's fair to
not assume you have the right for a question to be answered in a
volunteer forum such as this. Second, what's Joe's problem? The only
public posting I see by anyone named Joe are on April 12th and March 9th
neither of which seem pertinent to exceptions when undeploying war files
as your subject indicates. Maybe you could post a specific problem
you're having and see if someone can help :-) -
Deploying war files to weblogic 10.3.4
I have a weblogic domain 10.3.4 and a war file (smap.war). I can deploy this war file using weblogic console (10.3.4).
However, I cannot using ant (wldeploy 11.1.1.4) to deploy this war file. It shows error as follow.
This war file and weblogic domain is in the same machine.

Error 160078 when deploying WAR file after EAR file
I am tetsing an application which does automatic deployment to WebLogic 8.1 running on Windows XP using ejbgen tool through Ant.
The following deployment sequence produces an error. I deploy an EAR file with EJB JAR and WAR file inside. It deploys correctly. I then undeploy the EAR file. This also works. Next I deploy a WAR file using the same deployment name as for the EAR file (the 'name' parameter of weblogic.Deployer command). This deployment fails. If I restart WebLogic server, the same deployment of the WAR file succeeds.
Any idea what goes wrong?
Thank you.
Michael

Cannot make .war file using tomcat with eclipse and ant
i have made all necesary configuration for deploying application using eclipse and ant for the tomcat server.
when i start the server by clicking the tomcat icon on eclipse toolbar, the message is prompted that "missing application web.xml and using defaults". i have placed the web.xml file in the web/WEB-INF directory of the source project directory.
also when i use ant by right-clicking on the build.xml file and choose Run as ant.. the process creates a desired .war file in webapps folder of the tomcat server but that war file does not works.
where is the error i cannot figure out.
am attaching the code of build.xml for reference.
please help.

</project>So is context.xml actually overwriting the settings found in server.xml?I think so. The way I understand it is the the context.xml file saves you from having to edit server.xml. It is preferred for each web app to do its own config, rather than lumping them all together in server.xml.
And what would be the best way to create the war file? IAt its heart, a WAR is just a zip file with its contents laid out in according to the specification of a web application directory structure.
So the simplest way to make a war file is to zip up your directory structure with a tool like winzip, and rename it to be myApp.war.
Regarding ant, I would recommend you take a look through [url http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/appdev/index.html
]this tutorial. It explains the basics of website layout, configuration and deployment.
On [url http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/appdev/source.html] this page in particular, it includes a link to a basic ant file that you can use as a starting point.

Using wl 7.0 sp2 on solaris , deployed on a 2 instance wide cluster
I have this application called test.war
When i deploy this after server startup , there is no problem, application deploys
fine and i can
access it to via the browser.
Now when we try to undeploy it , i keep getting this:
" Unprepare application test2 on aseq103a Status-Running, Begin testing - Sun
Mar 23 19:06:10 EST 2003", there is no End Time and pressing the cancel button
does not cancel it
if i try to undeploy again samething and the same error keeps repeating, seems
there are threads out there that do not get cancelled
Looking at the logs i get this:
"Exception caught for task Unprepare application test2 on aseq103a: Unprepare
task for application, test2, with id, 29, cancelled for target aseq103a"
weblogic.management.ManagementException: Unprepare task for application, test2,

experience is that for kregedit, you need to "collapse" and then "expand"
the J2EE Modules branch to see the latest changes after you remove the
modules. For iASAT, you need to perfrom a "refresh" action (an option from
the menu) to see the latest changes. BTW, I can remove module by using the

Update war files during runtime....
The Weblogic Server takes a long time to start and stop. So, whenever we make any changes to our application, which is later bundled into a war file, we always have to stop and start the server, so that it loads the new war file. IS there any way to configure the weblogic server to automatically reload the new war file instead of restarting the server again ?
Any help is appreciated ...
Thanks

How about undeploy and "deploy" the war files using the console?

ShaluHi,
For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.
see...
http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/WebLogic_Web_Tutorial
We also have a similar version for Tomcat 6 except the JPA entity beans run outside a container-managed JTA transaction on the web container - for reference.

Error auto-deploying a Web App (.WAR file)
Hello,
Weblogic 6.1 throws a FileNotFoundException about 10% of the time for me when
auto-deploying a Web app. Has anyone else run into this? I searched the newsgroups
but didn't come up with anything, so I thought I'd start here.
My build/deploy cycle is managed by an Ant build file that creates a WAR file
of my web application and then drops it into $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications.
Occasionally when I do this, I get the error shown below. Originally I was building
the WAR file right in the ../applications directory, so I thought that might be
an issue. So, I started building the WAR file in a staging directory and copying
it into ../applications. No luck. Next, I tried deleting the original WAR file
from ../applications, and THEN copying the new one over from the staging directory.
Still fails occasionally.
Let's see. This is Weblogic 6.1 on Win2K. The only other thing is that my dev/build/staging
environment is on a network share, and it's from there that I'm copying the WAR
file to my local machine (where WL is running).
If someone has seen and/or knows what is up with this, great. If not, it's not
a show-stopper.
Thanks!
Cheers,
David

This is a problem with 6.1 SP2 also -- a very annoying error. Without auto deploy
working properly, developers are spending alot of time waiting for WebLogic to restart.
HELP!!! we need this fixed.
I see the EXACT same stack trace (ERROR).

Hi.
This may be a known issue that was addressed in sp2. If you are not already
at that sp level I suggest you upgrade.

Try to include faces jars with in your classpath.
It talk about the " java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet"
you check for this blog which help to say about this issue using JDev.
