Unethical practice regarding expired subscriptions...

I need some help and don't know who to turn to.  I tried chatting with someone via the customer service chat option and that was unsuccessful. 
Here is what happened...
I recieved this e-mail from Skype...
Action required - Your subscription is expiring in days as your credit/debit card has expired
Your Unlimited US & Canada subscription will expire in days on May 13, 2013 because the credit/debit card                         linked to your Skype account has expired. As a consequence the payment for your subscription cannot be completed.
You can reactivate your subscription, including any Skype Numbers you have, up to 90 days after it expired by choosing a different payment method. 
Sign into your account to update your payment method to ensure your subscription continues.
Remember that you can change the payment method for your subscription when your credit or debit card is expiring.

So, I was confused on the date and missed updating my information by two days, but I thought there would be no problem as the e-mail clearly states that an expired subscription can be reactivated up to 90 days after.  Well, turns out it can't be reactivated...or at least that is what I am being told.  
I am so frustrated because I have had this subscription and rate for over 3 years.  It seems completely unethical to send out an e-mail stating that it can be reactivated and then not hold to that promise.  
Has anyone else had this issue?  Did you get the same e-mail?  Have you been able to reactivate an expired subscription?  Up until now, I have been so pleased with the Skype service.  I had a subscription and online number and was a paying customer for over 3 years.  I am so frustrated now that I don't want to have anything to do with Skype.  
If anyone can share similar experiences and how it was resolved, I would really appreciate some help.

    I think I know which table (items in db recordings). it has a computed field with a replicated text index on it.
    the computed field definition is:
    (ltrim(isnull([item_title],'')+' ')+isnull([item_desc],'')) which are 2 other fields in the table nvarchar allowing nulls.
    what do I need to do to stop the cleanup job from crashing.

    Based on the guide "AD CS Step by Step Guide: Two Tier PKI Hierarchy Deployment", I'll have both
    internal and external users (with a CDP in the DMZ) so I have a few questions regarding the configuration of AIA/CDP.

    Is there any reason why you specified a '2' for the HTTP CDP ("2:http://pki.fabrikam.com/CertEnroll/%1_%3%4.crt"
    )? This will be my only CDP/AIA extension, so isn't it supposed to be '1' in priority?
    I tested the setup of the offline Root CA but after the installation, the AIA/CDP Extensions were already pre-populated with the default URLs. I removed all of them:
    The Root Certificate and CRL were already created after ADCS installation in C:\Windows\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\ with the default naming convention including the server name (%1_%3%4.crt).
    I guess I could renamed it without impact? If someday I have to revoke the Root CA certificate or the certificate has expired, how will I update the Root CRL since I have no CDP?

    Instead of using dspublish, isn't it better to deploy the certificates (Root/Intermediate) through GPO, like in the Default Domain Policy?

  • BT - unethical practice & mis-selling

    I upgraded my Broadband service with BT in January from option 1 to option 2 . Before upgrading I had done my research to confirm that existing discounts can be carried over. The FAQ section on BT's website clearly states that "When you upgrade your BT Broadband - for example from 'Broadband' to 'Unlimited Broadband' - you transfer with it any discounts as well as the remaining months of your current contract. The only exception to this is if the higher broadband option has a special offer." I specifically drew this to the attention of the BT sales person in my conversation with him and got him to confirm that this will be the case with this transaction. He assured that indeed my discounts would be transferred and the welcome to BT email I got even indicated that any special offers would continue as agreed. Imagine my surprise when I received my bill earlier this month and no discounts. I called BT this morning after 9am and spoke to someone in a call centre who admitted that they had made a mistake and this was likely to be a case of mis-selling. She transferred me to Andy in 'customer options' who didn't seem to have the details of my case. I had to start over again and then he tried fobbing me off to billing but when I insisted that I had been transferred to him to resolve the issue he then said he would escalate the case upstairs - apparently this meant he would refer the case to a manager who would listen to the original conversation in January and get back to me in 4 hours time. Guess what I didn't get a call back from BT, so I decided to call them back at about 4.30pm. It was back to the call centre again with the same questions and the same inane statements that weren't addressing the issue. She didn't ask for my reference number and even when I offered it she ignored my offer. I asked what action had been taken about my complaint and she couldn't tell what had been done. It was at this point that I realised that I was just wasting my time and decided to explore other alternatives such as using this forum to highlight the fact that BT doesn't honour it's contract, does not abide by the statements on its own website and does not follow it's own code of practice. I intend to complain to the ombudsman about this unethical practice on the part of BT and would also consider terminating my contract on the basis that BT has not kept it's part of the bargain. A brief scan of this forum indicates that unethical business practices are becoming the norm with BT. I also intend to tweet about my experience and write to other consumer groups to share my deep dissatisfaction with BT.

    Dear Colleagues
    I'd like to discuss the Best Practices regarding the setup of jobs to send Process Messages
    In my company we have a batch job with two steps. Each steps contain one variant of program RCOCB004.
    The first step will send messages with Status "To be sent", "To be resubmitted" and "To be resubm. w/warng"
    The second step will send messages with Status "Destination Error", "Terminated", "Incomplete"
    However, this job sometimes fails with error "Preceding job not yet completed (plant US07)"
    I'd like to discuss what is best way to set up this job in order to avoid this error and also improve performance.

    To keep the number of message logs in the system low, proceed as follows:
          1. Check the report variants for report RCOCB004 used in your send jobs.The sending of messages in status "Destination error" or "Terminated" is only useful if the error is corrected without manual intervention;for example with messages of category PI_PHST, if the sequence of the messages or time events was swapped in the first send process.
          2. Regularly delete the logs of the messages that were not sent to the destination PI01 using report RCOCB009 (Transaction CO62).
          3. Check whether it it is actually required to send messages to the destination PI01.This is only useful if you want to evaluate the data of these messages by means of the process data evaluation, or if the message data including the logs are to be a part of the process data documentation or the batch log. Remove destination PI01 for the message categories to which the above-mentioned criteria does not apply.You can activate destination PI01 again at a later stage.
          4. If you still want to send process messages to destination PI01, carry out a regular archiving of your process orders.As a result of the archiving, the message copies and logs in the process message record are also deleted.
          5. If the described measures do not suffice, you can delete the logs using Transaction SLG2.
    Control recipe send = RCOCB006 and you need to set the job to run after event SAP_NEW_CONTROL_RECIPES
    Process message send = RCOCB002 (cross plant) and RCOCB004 (specific plant). You need to create variants for these.
    Check the IMG documentation in PPPI for control recipes and process instructions where there is more information about this. Also standard SAP help is quite good on these points.
    Finally, if you are automatically generating process instructions then you need program RCOCRPVG plus appropriate variants.

    Actuvally already I configured replication for this server 3 database after we moved to another server for some h/w issue.
    that time we deleted subscriber and publisher and break transaction replication.
    after new server configuration it's allow to configure replication for 2 databases only.
    as per above query I found category 1 for 3 databases but 2 databases are in replication.
    the another databases that showing category 1 is past in replication, but it doesn't allow to configure replication.
    please give me solution for same .

  • More miss-selling and unethical practices

    To whom it may concern,
    Like other users I seem to have been the victim of BTs unethical practice of misselling.
    I had BT broadband but had my telephone line and calls with another company.
    When my contract came to an end on both BT were offering a combined package of BT Broadband and Telephone for a fixed price with 3 months free.  They said they would handle the 1 months cancellation of my telephone line with the other company.  As it happened they did not and I ended up paying for the month during my free BT period.
    I let this ride as sorting it would have been to much trouble.  But now I find that when I have my first bill from BT that they kept my existing BT broadband account and added another account  for the telephone so I now have two bills and they do not add up to the agreed amount.  The net effect is that my bill has risen substantially when I should have been saving. 
    This is not something that I agreed to and BTs lack of written documentation of the deal is underhand.
    As the telephone and broadband is essential to my work no doubt I will have to pay but  if I treated my clients in  the same way my business would suffer.

    We as a company have EA Subscription for our future product(s) release. So, we want to understand How should we manage subscriptions for our different Project with different environment.

    Based on above link, I understood that we should have different subscription for each type of environment like my Project name is ToDoApp then I should have two subscription
    1) ToDoApp Staging    2) ToDoApp Production.
    My Question here is: if we follow that practice, How could we utilize the Swapping feature of Azure because it works only within a specific subscription. so, If I deploy the application on my ToDoApp Staging Environment probably after testing I have to re-deploy
    the same on Production (Swapping can't work as, we have environment based different subscription)
    Request you to please suggest something where our deployment would minimize and we can have resource utilization based report per subscription with swapping functionality.

    You are correct. From the subscriptions, we might get all billing & resource utilization information easily. But the same time, my concern here is we might loose the core azure feature like Swapping.
    Azure Website (or Cloud service) has feature to test the deployment before move to production. so, we deploy that on staging or such slot & once we are done, we can move that.
    But this way we have to use all those instances (whether it's for testing-staging or production) all in single subscription.
    Moreover within single subscription it should be through only one instance (One cloud service or One Azure Website) then only you can swap.
    So, Don't you think that would be hard limitation

  • Option to renew not-yet-expired subscription has disappeared.

    I wanted to cancel my recent, new ExportPDF subscription (8/1/14 start date and 8/1/15 expire date) then renew my original subscription (8/15/14 expire date) for another year so that I don't have two accounts with different expiration dates. I canceled the new one, but now when I click on the "renew" button, the option to renew ExportPDF is no longer there. Now I have nothing!

    Hi. I am looking for some best practice or rule of thumb from SAP or from different companies how they address Portal Content Administrator access in Production environment. Basically, our company is implementing portal to work with SAP BW.  We are on SP 9. Basically, I am trying to determine if we should have 1-2 Portal Content Administrator in Production with 24/7 access or we should limit them from NOT having this.  Can you share with me some ideas of what is right? and what is not?
    Should we have access in Production? Or Should we have this access but limited? By the way, our users are allow to Publish BI reports/queries into Production.

    Wow, what a question and the simple answer is - it depends. It depends on whether you want to do the query predictor, whether you want to increase the timeouts for users and lists of values, whether you want to have the Plus available items and Selected items panes displayed by default, and so on.
    Typically, most organizations go with the defaults with the exception that you might want to consider turning off the query predictor. That predictor is usually a pain in the neck and most companies turn it off, thus increasing query performance.
    Do you have a copy of my Discoverer 10g Handbook? If so, take a look at pages 785 to 799 where I discuss in detail all of the preferences and their impact.

    I have been led to believe there may be a better method, or a more up to date best practice process in dealing with expired updates.
    On one side I was hoping to keep a software update group intact, to have a history of what was deployed, but also wanting to keep things clean and avoid issues down the road as i used to in 2007 with expired updates.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    The best idea is still to remove expired updates from software update groups. The process describes in that post is still how it works. That also means that if you don't remove the expired updates from your software update groups the expired updates will
    still show...

  • Expired subscription paid on one PC, cannot open product on Mac - prompted, again, for payment

    I paid my subscription on a PC but want to now use the product on my Mac but, although my account reflects settlement of payment, I am prompted (on the Mac) to settle the outstanding payment before I can use the product. Any suggestions as to why?

    But according to my usage minimum required subcription is 1000 minutes and later I may need 1200 to 1500 minutes per month.

    In that case you should purchase another Subscription but with a different amount of monthly minutes. You can't have two identical Subscriptions running at the same time on the same account.

  • Best Practice Regarding Large Mobility Groups

    I was reading the WLC Best Practices and was wondering if anyone could put a number to this statement regarding the largest number of APs, end users, and controllers which can contained in a Mobility Group.
    We would be deploying WiSMs in two geographically dispersed data centers. No voice is being used or is planned.
    "Do not create unnecessarily large mobility groups. A mobility group should only have all controllers that have access points in the area where a client can physically roam, for example all controllers with access points in a building. If you have a scenario where several buildings are separated, they should be broken into several mobility groups. This saves memory and CPU, as controllers do not need to keep large lists of valid clients, rogues and access points inside the group, which would not interact anyway.
    Keep in mind that WLC redundancy is achieved through the mobility groups. So it might be necessary in some situations to increase the mobility group size, including additional controllers for
    redundancy (N+1 topology for example)."
    I would be interested in hearing about scenarios where a Catalyst 6509 with 5 WiSM blades is deployed in data centers which back each other up for cases of disaster recovery.
    Can I have one large Mobility group? This would be easier to manage.
    or
    Would it be better to back up each blade with a blade in the second data center? This would call for smaller Mobility Groups.
    Be glad to elaborate further if anyone has a similar experience and needs more information.

    Well, that is a large group indeed, and I would say most organizations use nested groups instead of adding these behemoths to the directory as they are quite difficult to work with.  If it's a one-time thing, you could create it manually in bite-sized
    chunks with LDIF or the like, so that FIM only has to do small delta changes afterwards.
    The 5,000 member limit mostly applies to groups prior to the change to linked value storage.  What is your forest functional level, and have you verified that this group is using linked values?
