Unique IDs in Dictionary Project (NW Developer Studio 7.0)

Hi all,
I am working with NWDS 7.0 and creating a table in Java Schema with a Dictionary Project.
What I need is a unique ID field with auto-increment value. How do I create such a field? Is this possible at all? Before we use workarounds such as java.rmi.server.UID, creating tables with Oracle, utilizing stored procedures, etc. we would like to know if this can be achieved with a standard dictionary project.
Any comments will be appreciated and rewarded.

Hi,
if you use entity beans for O/R Mapping and your unique id will be the primary key you could also try and use automatic primary key generation. The documentation can be found here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b3/b238bfd13a8f408958d70a6989d001/frameset.htm
However, I think you do not have much influence on how the keys will be generated.
Another possiblity  if you use entity beans is the Entity Bean Primary Key Generator from Floyd Marinescu:
http://www.theserverside.com/patterns/thread.tss?thread_id=220
These solutions both do not rely on any special database requirements.

  • Can't create dictionary project in eclipse as in Netweaver Studio

    Hi All,
I was able to create a dictionary project in netweaver studio of SAP. I was able to create tables and archive it to create SDA.
Similarly I want to create the same in eclipse. Do we need any special plugin for this in eclipse? Or do we have any option in creating this?
    Regards,
    Vara

Have you set the JAVAFX_HOME environment variable as specified?
Maybe it should have been set by the JavaFX installer, but otherwise, I don't see that as a kludge from the Eclipse plug-in point of view, as if it is not set, I don't see how it could guess the location.
And well, if you are afraid of bugs and workarounds, you should avoid JavaFX, indeed, at least until next year... :-)
The platform is still a bit green; some even say it is still beta but I find it, and lot of other people too, already very usable.

  • Developer studio does not update pipeline

    Hi
I created my first Endeca app, called testapp2.
The app seems correctly provisioned, then I created  a project in developer studio with the same name of the app.
I issue "set instance configuration" and it seems sto work , but in /app/oracle/product/endeca/apps/testapp2/config/pipeline  the file ar not updated.
The strange things is that if I make a change in the project, the I revert back by issuing "get instance configuration" the previous configuration is correctly loaded in the project. This gives me the idea that configuration are strored somewhere but not where I am looking to.
    Any Idea?
    Regards
    Giuseppe

That isn't what set instance configuration does, that is why it doesn't work - you are using a utility to update a completely separate piece of software called Merchandising Workbench.
If you want to apply changes to the configuration to a different server you would copy the changed pipeline directory there.  I.e. if you are editing the pipeline on your local PC, say in C:\Endeca\applications\testapp2\config\pipeilne, you would change things in Developer Studio, click the Save button, then open up whatever you use for file copies and copy the contents of C:\Endeca\applications\testapp2\config\pipeline\* to /app/oracle/product/endeca/apps/testapp2/config/pipeline. Then you would run a baseline via /app/oracle/product/endeca/apps/testapp2/control/baseline_update.sh.

  • How to download project template into the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio

How to do so?Actualy my requirement is to create an iView whcih contain the detail about the invoice.
    Thank,
    Kundan

    Hi
If you have zip file of the project then unzip it into your project  location where all projects are there .then in NWDS go to file->import->multiple existing project into workspace->browse the file where you have saved it and select the comp folder inside the project folder->click finish. Now you are able to see the webdynpro project in the webdynpro explorer. If its not appearing then go to Navigatore and right click on project and click on open project, it will open the project in webDynpro explorer.
    Thanks

  • Getting an error in Java Project in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio

    Hi,
I am getting this error in my Java Project developed in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
Exception occurred during launch Reason: Source locator does not exist org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui.javaSourceLocator
Is this problem of not defining some External .jar file or problem with Eclipse?
I am developing Java Project which connects with SAP Master Data Management.
I am referring to a PDF named "How To identify identical master data records using SAP MDM 5.5
    Java APIu2019s".
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

This may be because of the metadata(registry) cache when it was written out by a second instance of NWDS.
So the plug-in appears in the file system but NWDS doesn't see it in the metadata
Delete the .metadata file from your workspace and then start up NWDS. It might work.

  • Rename Project in Netweaver Developer Studio

    Hi..
I need to change the name of my project and par file from BoxOffice to com.sfa.BoxOffice.
I tried the rename option in the Netweaver Developer Studio. It does rename the file. But when i make some changes and build again..it creates the new par file with the old project name.
Even though i have renamed the project to com.sfa.BoxOffice it still creates the par file as BoxOffice.par.
Is there any other place where I need to change something?
    Thanks
    Alkesh

All you need to do is delete the par from the project.  Then export the project again, this time, make sure to change the name of the par in the dialog.
Rightclick the project, select "Export".  you will get a dialog with the par file path and file name.   Change this filename and click finish.  that's it.

  • Build Web Dynpro project EAR without Developer Studio

Is it possible to build Web Dynpro project EAR file without Developer Studio? All possible solutions are welcome (console, scripts, java etc.) I want to integrate the project into CI Server and try to find way for automatic build.
    Thanks.

Yes. Sure. But as i can see, during generation of EAR there are some files like (Project)App.xml, (Project)Component.xml that regenerated each time i create EAR from Developer Studio. I don't know the logic of creation of these files. Is there standard ant build script from SAP which i can use?

In this page, it is given
"In SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, the Enterprise Portal toolbar is activated. If it has not yet been activated, choose Window -> Open Perspective -> Other -> Enterprise Portal."
But there is no option 'Enterprise Portal' in 'Window -> Open Perspective -> Other' to select. How to enable that perspective ?
Pls help me to solve out this problem.....
    Thx
    Riju

    Hi Riju,
The EP perspective comes as a default. What is the version of the NWDS you are working. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the NWDS and you should be all set.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to use another database schema in Dictionary project

    Problem description:
    1)     I want to use Developer Studio to create my own J2EE project. Then I have to use Dictionary Project to maintain my database.  My database is Oracle.
    2)     I created tables in Dictionary project and deployed to database
    3)     After that I found my tables were deployed into SAPSR3DB schema.
    Question:
What can I do if I want to deploy my tables into another schema other than SAPSR3DB?  In real cases I want to separate my tables from the WAS system tables.

    Hi Chaoran,
If you want to use external database with Java dictionary tables..
Right click on the Java Dictionary Table, from the menu select <b>Create DDL script</b>, then select to which data base you want to generate scripts. It will generate .sql scripts, use this scripts in your database to create tables. But the same time you need to create Data sources in Visual Administrator for your oracle system.

  • Is SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio  Version: 7.0.12 Compatable with JDK 1.5

    Hi
I want to user Java SDK version 1.5 instead of 1.4.
Is SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.12 compatible with this or not.
    Please let me know

    Hi
If you are using EP 7.0, then NWDS 7.0.YY version need to be used. //YY depends on your  patch of EP7 .As you have mentioned your are using NWDS 7.0.12, that means your portal SP level is SP12.
In my prject i am using JDK 1.4 for NWDS 7.0.15 and its works fine.I have asked two of my colleagues , they told that in their project they are using JDK 1.5 for EP 7.0 server and application is working fine for them.
    So

  • Problem in creating a web dynpro application in netweaver developer studio.

    Hi,
I have installed Netweaver developer studio. while creating a webdynpro project by selecting File->new->project, It doesn't display "web dynpro" option in the project wizard dailogue box.
Please suggest how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Babu,
    Make sure following plugin folder
    "com.sap.ide.webdynpro.ui_xx.yy.zz(for ex:com.sap.ide.webdynpro.ui_2.0.0)"
exists in your ecclipse root folder (for ex:C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\plugins\)
It is responsible for the UI selection elements in File->New Project->WebDynpro selection.
If it's not there you will have to copy it. check also other webdypro plugins installed correctly. these plugins comes with default installation of SAP WEBAS.
if all plugins not installed then redo the whole installation but at the same time make sure all plugins installed correctly.
    reward points if usefull
    Thanks

  • From Visual Composer to Developer Studio

I import into the developer studio a *.par file, made with visual composer, so I can modify it from the developer studio.
The project don't compile because the "GmlDynController" class is missing, so as there's not import sentence in the *.java file, I searched (all over the PC where was install the portal and Visual Composer) for the *.jar or folder containing "GmlDynController" and nothing I found.
I searched all over the sap's sites "GmlDynController" and nothing was display.
I only know that is a class introduce by the visual composer and if it's use must be at somewhere.
¿Does anybody could tell me where is the GmlDynController?
Thanks a lot for your time.
