Unix user for expdp

Hi all, I am using Oracle 10gR2 on Solaris10.
Can expdp be only run by oracle user? When I try to run it with a different user it gives me the below error.
bash-3.00$ expdp
UDE-00013: Message 13 not found; No message file for product=RDBMS, facility=UDE
UDE-00019: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory

I setup the environment variables correctly.
ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and PATH variables are setup correctly but still I am getting the below error:
UDE-00013: Message 13 not found; No message file for product=RDBMS, facility=UDE
UDE-00019: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory
As far as I am aware, this command should be executed successfully for a non-dba user also. Please advice.

FormsCentral PDFs not working for Linux and Unix users

I recently created a PDF (using Indesign > Acrobat IX Pro > Formscentral [AFC]) that includes radio buttons, form fields, linked videos set to play in the PDF once clicked and (after running through AFC) a submit button.
The form has been distributed and we have already had hundreds of successful responses collected in the AFC site, all is working well there.
One major problem we are having is that we have a lot of Linux/Unix users and the response from them is that they can't activate the videos, the form fields are out of kilter alignmentwise and the submit button does not work. Even when using the proper Adobe Acrobat Reader (v9, for example).
Is the Adobe development team aware of problems such as these for Linux/Unix platforms and is there a suggested fix that they know of?

can you email me ([email protected]) the original PDF (before you imported it in FormsCentral)? Also, I'm curious about the format of the video in the PDF. Does the video in the PDF worked in Linux/Unix before going through the FormsCentral import/export?
When I look at your PDF on my Red Hat Entrprise Linux 6.0 system with Reader 9.5.4 it does look fine (location of the fields) but the video generate an error (which I'm still investigating). I have not yet try the submit button on your form (as I don't want to submit bad data to you) but I seem to have an issue with the submit button on other PDF forms I generated (when I try to submit from a linux machine). Still investigating that as well.

Configure LDAP for UNIX user

I am doing user provisioning of SUN IDM to SUN LDAP. But In LDAP i am storing unix user. When you create any user in LDAP for UNIX then you have to specify UID, GID ,Home directory.
Same thing i m try to create user in LDAP for unix through SUN IDM.
But I am not able to enable checked box for unix user in posix user information.
By default this check box is disable. we have to enable manually this check box if u want to create a user for unix in LDAP.
I want to change this check box disable to enable by default.
it is very urgent.
I am not getting any doc related doc or other thing.

We have so few customers using ADAM now that LDAP to AD is supported I forgot this. However to note: this means managing an entire new directory separate from your multiple AD forests.

How to setup database user for windows NT SSO

Hi,
We have a scenario where we have to setup a database user so that SSO can be worked in windows environment.
We have oracle 10g installed on UNIX server. Now we want to setup a autosys user which will also be a winows user for eg by the name kumaral and domain (which is Logon option in windows) will be FM, so eventually user name will be FM\kumaral. Autosys will be on windows machine and we have installed oracle client on this machine.
On oracle database we have created two user by following syntax:
(1) CREATE USER "OPS$FM\KUMARAL" IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
(2) CREATE USER "OPS$FM\kumaral" IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
Also we have provided connect grant to these users.
GRANT CONNECT TO "OPS$FM\KUMARAL".
GRANT CONNECT TO "OPS$FM\kumaral".
I am login in windows through FM\kumaral user, but we are not able to connect to oracle through this user, we are trying to connect to oracle from below mentioned query:
sqlplus /
but we are not able to connect.
Can someone please help me on this?

SAPinst Error--Phase 2--Creation of User for SAP System

I am installing SOLMAN 7.0 on Red Hat Linux 5 with IBM Java SDK version 1.4.2_10
When I run the SAPinst it gives ERROR in the 2nd phase of Creating users for SAP system.
The SAPinst log file shows as below:-

I have created the directories required.
The SAP installation has started, but now I am getting the message as below during the ORACLE DB Installation phase,when I run the Oracle ./RUNINSTALLER in Bash Unix:-

Do we need to set the ORACLE_HOME env variable in the BASH_PROFILE directly??? Coz I heard that if we set it with the Export command then the env is set only for the current instance and not permanently.
If so what is the exact entry I need to make in the BASH_PROFILE???

MARS - NFS on Unix Services for Windows and deleting files

I've prepared NFS server on W2k3 server with Unix Services for Windows installed. It works OK, the only problem is moveing/deleting files and folders. It seems like a problem with permissions for anonymous user. Does anybody have similar experience ?

If you receive the following error message "Error ./pnarchiver Thread 2051:PN-0102:SQL error: ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied" then there is a Problem with archiving to NFS server. The directories for the archiving are properly created on the server but those directories remain empty. The workaround is that an inter operability issue exists between MARS and CygWin NFS server running on Windows 2003 server. To work around such inter operability issues, replace the NFS server with Microsoft Windows Services for Unix.

Perl script and unix users

Hi, I have a perl script that connects to a regular users account, using DBI/DBD::Oracle. It works fine is the UNIX user is in the oinstall group, but if its in oracle, dba or neither it gives me the following error:
DBI connect('orcl','xxxxxxx',...) failed: ORA-24327: need explicit attach before authenticating a user (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin) at /terida/opt/smarthost/updatedatabases.pl line 15
I'm guessing here that Perl DBD::Oracle needs access to a specific file in the oracle installation perhaps ? I'm also gonna wager that letting it live in the oinstall group is not recommended..

For people running into ORA-24327 errors with DBD::Oracle: the underlying cause is often a missing hostname, but the ORA-24327 error message is misleading. I've submitted a patch for DBD::Oracle to trap and report errors like this in OCIServerAttach, which will hopefully make it into the 1.29 release.

Authenticating Unix users with LEAP

Scenario : WLAN (AP350 V11.21) with LEAP authentication against an ACS V3.0 server (on W2K). Pre-existing Unix users with traditional Unix-crypted passwords. Usernames with their associated encrypted passwords are successfully imported on ACS database with the csutil utility.
Authorization fails because LEAP uses a derivative of CHAP/MS-CHAP and it needs the plain password on the ACS side.
WLANs are increasingly used on places like educational campuses where Unix is widely deployed. Has anyone found a solution to authenticate Unix users with LEAP?

I know it's It's not supported yet. When PEAP is added to Aironet and ACS, this problem will go away. I believe that is happening in ACS 3.1 and some future version of the Aironet software.
An ugly workaround would be to setup User Changeable Passwords. You'd inform people with UNIX accounts that they have an ACS account created, but that wireless will not work for them until they use a LAN-based system to log in and change their ACS password. You could give them the option of using the same password, of course.

Launch Shell Unix by different Unix User

Hi All,
i have installed OWB 10.2.0.2 , Oracle 10.2.0.1 with unix user "oracle" under HP-UNIX for Itanium2.
I have to launch many unix shell. I have notice that when i launch any shell OWF uses the owner of the installation of OWB (unix user:"oracle").
Is it possible to launch shell with another unix user ?

You mean, lauching unix shell means.. Executing the script using Process flow.
If then, Oracle uses "Oracle" user, which it used for installation for executing any kind of Oracle activity.
So whenver you want to execute the shell script , you should give execution permissions to the oracle user.

OPS$ user for Oracle

Has anyone had any success using the OPS$ user for an Oracle database on Solaris? I would like to log in with a unix account and simply use the OPS$ account for that user. That way I do not have to store the password and username.

I thought I would post the solution although no one else posted. The solution is to use the simple getConnection method and leave off the database name on the url. e.g.
rConnection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@");
I hope that helps someone else.
This of course requires that you have set up the ops$ user on the oracle side and have a unix login that matches the ops$ user.

Query to find out the time used by an user for an application

I want to know the query to find out the whole time used by the user for an application. Please view the below data

So the total time Visu used the application would be 3 hrs = 180 mins.
Could you please help me in getting the result from that data using a query?

They have gone now and I am attempting to either change the password or delete the user. It won't allow me to choose the user I created. I am logged in as myself and it states that I am an "Admin". The user I'm attempting to change is listed as a "standard" user and there is a white checkmark inside an orange circular background on the user pic in the list of users.
Can someone help me? I am having a hard time believing that OSx will allow me to create users and allow them use of my computer and it's drives, yet it will not allow me to change the password so I can monitor what they might have been doing while logged on? What if this were my child? This guest left under sketchy circumstances, and I'd really like to be able to ensure they were not using my computer to do illegal things or to have illegal communications.
Any help would be appreciated. (It's odd that it was so simple to "create" a user and set a password for them.......but it's complicated or a little known process to reverse.

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

Two month before, We have deployed Lync 13 set up with lync monitoring and archiving service enabled. After configuring we have the Lync monitoring and archiving services are working fine... few weeks back I have changed the Admin Password
of the Lync Setup. After that Lync Monitoring and Archiving services are not working.
when I try open Lync monitoring service from web UI,

Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife and we each have our own apple ID's, Itunes etc, but share the same data on the hard drives? So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.
