Unknown Horizons AUR
I'm trying to install Unknown Horizons but I get this error when I
makepkg
error : Operation in progress
warning: failed to load external entity "http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/manpages/docbook.xsl"
cannot parse http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/manpages/docbook.xsl
error: command 'xsltproc' failed with exit status 4
I've googled and searched on the site but I can't find anything that matches my error, has anyone installed this game? And overcome this error?
Any input would be great

By the looks of it, the offending line is in setup.py:
wormzy@sakura[pts/5]/var/lib/archbuild/extra-x86_64/build/build/src/unknown-horizons$ grep -n docbook setup.py
178: 'http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/manpages/docbook.xsl',
which is part of the _build_man class. If you want to just skip the manpage generation, reverse (via sed in the PKGBUILD) the conditional statement on line 172 of setup.py.
Thanks WorMzy, I've found the class - it was in one of the only places I didn't check - I was looking around the "build" directory..
Here is the class..
class _build_man(build):
description = "build the Manpage"
def run(self):
if not find_executable('xsltproc'):
self.warn("Can't build manpage, needs xsltproc")
return
self.make_file(['doc/manpage.xml'], 'unknown-horizons.6', spawn, \
(['xsltproc',
'http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/curre$
'doc/manpage.xml'],))
self.distribution.data_files.append(('share/man/man6', ('unknown-horizons.6',)))
build.sub_commands.append(('build_man', None))
I was considering just taking that "not" out of the if statement, but as you said via SED in the PKGBUILD I am a little confused - could you explain to me how SED does it via the PKGBUILD? I checked the PKGBUILD and couldn't find any reference to this area of the code..

[SOLVED] libcairo crashes gnome-shell
Hi,
I think after one of the updates (I don't run on testing), gnome-shell would crash after few seconds of use. Examining error messages, it seems to be related to libcairo segfault, which I was unable to analyze further. I did some googling on this, but most issues were concerning ATI of nVidia card and/or multiple monitor, from which I use none.
I am pasting hopefully useful logs:

Adding Horizon 2 Aura software to Horizon 1
Does anyone know if we will be able to update or add the new Horizon 2 Aura software to the Horizon 1 so that we can have features like the android phone WiFi data downloads, etc. On the Horizon 1 ?
or can we download the AURA software to an A730 with better specs than the Horizon?

[solved] Can no longer untar AUR packages with tar xvf /directory/
For about a year now I've used this line of code from my .bash_aliases file to untar files from their source directory to the one I am currently CDed in at that moment:
alias tarx='tar xvf' # extracts files from a tarball using tar [e]x[tract] v[erbose] f[orced]
This alias failed to work a few weeks ago for some unknown reason and now spits out this error:
tarx /media/aur/srcpackages/atom-editor.tar.gz ./
tar: .: Not found in archive
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
Why on earth would this suddenly stop working. I haven't changed my .bashrc file apart from some small comments but here it is in case I'm totally out of it:
# ~/.bashrc
# This file is sourced by all *interactive* bash shells on startup, #
# including some apparently interactive shells such as scp and rcp #
# that can't tolerate any output. So make sure this doesn't display #
# anything or bad things will happen ! #
# If not running interactively, don't do anything #
[[ $- != *i* ]] && return
# If the connection to the system is a remote connection 'ssh' will be #
## appended to the prompt. Otherwise the prompt will be displayed normally #

# export PS1='\[\e[0;31m\]\u@\h:\w${text}$\[\e[m\]' # # #

fi
# Alias definitions.
# You may want to put all your additions into a separate file like
# ~/.bash_aliases, instead of adding them here directly.
# See /usr/share/doc/bash-doc/examples in the bash-doc package.
if [ -f ~/.bash_aliases ]; then

Last edited by MoonSwan (2014-07-09 04:31:06)I seem to have a larger problem on my desktop machine. When I try to untar stuff on that one it creates a .cache directory for some weird reason and populates it with, I think, cached files from my home directory. It ends up having firefox, mc and other cached files in the new directory and then tar just errors out with:
gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Very odd behaviour and I'm assuming some config file somewhere is responsible for this behaviour. But where else can I look apart from .bashrc?
@ids1024, I'll do what you've what you suggested on my netbook later today and record the information to post afterward.
[edit] Here are the contents of that .cache directory, if it helps:
dconf event-sound-cache.tdb.silver_yunzi.x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu event-sound-cache.tdb.tengen.x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu fontconfig mc dmenu_run

I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that lib32-catalyst-utils should be providing lib32-libgl. If I patch the PKGBUILD to remove the dependency on lib32-mesa-libgl (might be a bad idea, but it doesn't seem to be causing the issue), it fails when linking, producing thousands of lines like:

Because pcsx2's PKGBUILD has "lib32-mesa-libgl" as makedepends, while I think it should be the virtual name "lib32-gl". It can cause pacman to uninstall nvidia (lib32-nvidia-libgl) or ATI (lib32-catalyst-utils) in order to install mesa files -- not good, I suppose.
Please file a bug report against pcsx2 package.

Could not build cups-canon-3.00 from AUR
Hi!
I'm coming from linux mint and I'm totally amazed by simplicity of Arch Linux. However, I have problem with installing my printer (Canon IP1900). I'm unable to install canon-cups-3.00 from AUR (using yaourt). It gives me this error:

[SOLVED] Installing Catalyst drivers from AUR
Hi everyone!
Got me an new laptop and have an Radeon HD 3200 in it and hoped to get it working but
I dont managed to get it to work so I hoped someone here could help me
Ive tested the xf86-video-ati
xf86-video-radeonhd
xf86-video-radeonhd-git
But those does get it to work but the performance is really shit and I really want 3d acceleration
so I decided to give the catalyst 9.4-1 from AUR a go.
Installs with yaourt and everything seems to go fine but when I startx it goes back to command line.
My xorg:
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection
#Section "Module"
# Load "glx"
# Load "dri"
# Load "drm"
#EndSection
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "fglrx"
# Option "AccelMethod" "exa"
# Option "DRI" "on"
# Option "ColorTiling" "on"
EndSection
#Section "DRI"
# Group "video"
# Mode 0666
#EndSection
The commented lines were used for the radeonhd driver.
Here is the Xorg.0.log when using fglrx driver:

[SOLVED] Kernel panic for an unknown reason
[Solved] Steps done to solve it:
0. Panic because I couldn't play starcraft2 (this step is sooo important! ;)
1. Updated my mirrorlist.
2. Forced a refresh on the package list from the new mirrorlist. "pacman -Syy"
3. Downgraded the kernel.
4. Deleted the latest kernel package from the pacman cache.
5. Updated the system. (pacman -Syu)
6. Thanked lilsirecho for helping out!
7. Profit
Hi all
I just did a "pacman -Syu" this afternoon and after that I'm getting kernel panics for unknown reasons.
edit: I had kernel 3.0.4 befure syu and I have kernel 3.0.7 now. I tried downgrading wine and the kernel with no success.
It first happened when I tried to run StarCraft2 with wine. I even created a post looking for help because of that.
Later on I tested another game, just in case, and it crashed too.
Looks like a wine problem, right? Or even a graphics driver problem.
That's what I thought too. But then I tried to update with "yaourt -Syu --aur" and in the first package compression it freezed once again. And it does fail everytime I try to update with yaourt during the compression phase.
What do this situations have in common?
My opinion is that they all require a lot of resources. StarCraft 2 puts my PC at 100% almost all the time. The other game is pretty old, but it freezed during an "environment loading" phase, right when the map was loading. The compression phase of yaourt also consumes a lot of resources.
This is my view of this problem, but I could be completely wrong.
What I need is help finding what is the real source of this kernel panics. I don't know where to look for the logs or the error reports when a kernel panic occurs.
I hope someone can help me trace the problem somehow. I think I'm lost
ty in advance.
cheers!

Possibly caused by a mirror download.
Perhaps you need to revert kernel and insure you have the latest mirrorlist and then syu again.
When I saw your response I thought: "Why should that be true? I downgraded the kernel with no success. Doesn't make much sense".
But then I did what you said:
Downgraded the kernel back to 3.0.4.
Moved the latest mirrorlist.pacnew I had to be the mirrorlist in use.
Then did a "pacman -Syyu".
And, miraculously, it works fine now.
How in the world did you know that could be the reason? It would have been the last possibility I would have thought about, no doubt about that
Thank you very much lilsirecho. Your post really helped me.
Not gonna mark this as SOLVED yet. Yesterday I marked my other thread as solved too soon and I regretted my decision.
I will leave a 1week time-frame to be 100% sure that it is fixed, just in case. -

No Gnome Books in AUR.. (failed to build it myself)
Well today was release of Gnome 3.16, i myself don't care much about it because i switched to i3 recently and i'm loving it, but this books app peeked my intrest.
here's are some links:

I'm currently using fbreader and i know there's caligra but interface wise they both suck. (my opinion) I for one would like to test this new app, but it is not yet on the AUR.. yet..
so I was hoping someone would pick this up and package it..
I did try to build it from git but i could not resolve the dependencies. I came this far:

anybody else tried to build it?@ jasonwryan thanks for moving this to AUR Issues and pointing to the issues on github.
i read that i'm not the only one who has trouble with building this.
I ended up giving ValHue 's PKGBUILD a try https://github.com/ValHue/AUR-PKGBUILDs … -books-git
but i ended up getting an error with libtool.
libtool: error: cannot find the library 'libgbprivate-1.0.la' or unhandled argument 'libgbprivate-1.0.la'

Aura won't stop asking to update
I have a Horizon 2e. A few weeks ago, a message came up, telling me that there was an update for Aura, and I could either update or have it ask later. No option for it to not update and not ask later!I have successfully run the update 3 times, but everyday it asks again. It is annoying.How can I get this to stop?
Hi Jubal_Droad,
Thanks for Posting!
There is a Program file under Lenovo Folder Program Files that is called
Alpha Upgrade Service
This app checks for an update and downloads and install
The app seems to be downloading the same version and cannot recognize that you already have the one it's trying to download causing it to download again.
One thing is that the Lenovo Alpha upgrade service is set to Run everytime you log in to the computer causing it to update everytime.
When you run the Task Scheduler you'll find the Alpha Upgrade Service configured as such. you can disable it there.
Still Don't know why the update won't give a notification that you have the latest or give a no available update message.

[SOLVED] Unable to build package Intel-OpenCL-SDK from the AUR
Good morning,
I am having some issues in regards to building a package from the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/intel-opencl-sdk/
If I understand correctly this is a 64 bit package, so I made sure that my processor has the LM flag. Also I have checked which kernel I am running:
>$ uname -m
x86_64
When I start building the package it comes up with an error saying:
==> ERROR: intel-opencl-sdk is not available for the 'i686' architecture.
Note that many packages may need a line added to their PKGBUILD
such as arch=('i686').
So I went in to the PKGBUILD and changed the line x86_64 to i686. This seemed to started the build, but it does stop working rather soon, giving me the following error:
==> Tidying install...
-> Purging unwanted files...
-> Compressing man and info pages...
-> Stripping unneeded symbols from binaries and libraries...
strip:./opt/intel/opencl-sdk/libOclCpuBackEnd.so: File format not recognized
/usr/bin/fakeroot: line 181: 846 User defined signal 1 FAKEROOTKEY=$FAKEROOTKEY LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$PATHS" LD_PRELOAD="$LIB" "$@"
So I do not know where it is going wrong, although it also sounds that my install of Arch might be a bit dodgy as he does not want to build the package with the x86_64 setting ...
Could somebody shed some light on this matter?
Last edited by ruurdkrekt (2013-04-04 11:09:00)Scimmia wrote:No, it's going to need 64 bit versions of the libs it links to. If you want to use this package, you're going to have to reinstall all of your packages. Probably easiest to start from scratch, to be honest.
So is it possible to update the dependencies to 64bit and then build this package?
When I change /etc/pacman.conf to take x86_64 architecture packages:
Architecture = x86_64
And I change the flags of /etc/makepkg.conf to x86_64:
CARCH="x86_64"
CHOST="x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=x86-64 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2"
CXXFLAGS="-march=x86-64 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2"
Then when I do pacman -S llvm then it will say:
error: failed to prepare transaction (package architecture is not valid)
:: package llvm-3.2-5-i686 does not have a valid architecture
However I did put everything to x86_64, so where does he get the i686 from? -
USB disks no longer mount, unknown filesystem
Ran a routine weekly update on an arch box this morning, didn't think anything of it as usual. Until Thunar started spitting errors at me whenever I tried to mount a USB device. gvfs makes the devices appear in the left pane for one-click mounting... usually.
A partition on the hard drive attached has started telling me I don't have permissions to mount it any more - never had issues before, I'm in storage so I don't see why.
The other issue comes with a USB hard drive, and when trying to mount it as above, Thunar throws this at me:
Error mounting /dev/sdb1 at /run/media/pip/HD-PVU2: Command-line `mount -t "vfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid-100,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,showexec" "/dev/sdb1" "/run/media/pip/HD-PVU2"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: unknown filesystem type 'vfat'
Searching both pacman and AUR gave me no packages to do with vfat filesystems, and the wiki article "USB Storage Devices" provided no solutions at all.
Using XFCE4 DE on 32-bit Arch. All packages have been updated to latest versions as of the time of this post.I probably experience the same kind of problem as you guys. I'm using udisksvm to mount USB drives and when I plug one, I get something like that:
$ udisksvm

And the device is not mounted automatically. I have the packages dosfstools, ntfs-3g, systemd-sysvcompat installed (I use systemd). Mounting manually from console works well. -
[Solved] makepkg warning about unknown key
Hello,
when compiling cower 7-1 a strange warning was given by makepkg.
==> Verifying source file signatures with gpg...
cower-7.tar.gz ... FAILED (unknown public key 1EB2638FF56C0C53)
==> WARNING: Warnings have occurred while verifying the signatures.
Please make sure you really trust them.
EDIT: The warning is shown due to signature files attached to the package. It can be solved for packages made by archlinux devs:
- run as user
"# gpg --list-keys"
in order to create a gpg database for your current user, if it is not present already.
- add
"keyring /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/pubring.gpg"
to the end of
~/.gnupg/gpg.conf.
WorMzy wrote:Alternatively, run makepkg with --skippgpcheck to stop makepkg trying to validate the file with it's .sig file.
Last edited by teateawhy (2012-11-06 16:22:30)teateawhy wrote:The error will occur only for aur Packagebuilds created by arch linux developers, because of present keys.
Mmm, not quite. You'll have the same problem with any PKGBUILD that has an unknown signature, not just AUR packages by the Arch devs.
The warning (it's not really an error) is coming up because the source tarball's signature is included in the source array:
source=("https://github.com/downloads/falconindy/$pkgname/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz"{,.sig})
That's a lazyman's way of writing:
source=("https://github.com/downloads/falconindy/$pkgname/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz"
"https://github.com/downloads/falconindy/$pkgname/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz.sig")
makepkg is smart enough to know that .sig files are used to check the authenticy and integrity of it's namesake file, and so automagically runs a gpg check for you. At this point, since you're running makepkg as yourself, gpg is run as you, and uses your ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg, which I assume doesn't have Dave's key in it. ('gpg --list-keys' would no doubt confirm that).
A quick fix for Arch dev packages would be to add "keyring /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/pubring.gpg" to the end of ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf.
Alternatively, run makepkg with --skippgpcheck to stop makepkg trying to validate the file with it's .sig file. -
