Unproper ADF BC behaviour after database exception

Hi,
A have a problem with ADF session.
I use ADF Business Components in my application and generally it works good.
Unfortunatelly I experience problem when I face database exception (i.e. packages I use are not compiled). I catch such an exception in my web application, but unfortunatelly there is something wrong with views or business components because I get unproper results (usually no records at all). It's a problem connected with all views in application and it is not connected with the exception directly.
The only thing that helps is logout and login (which resets ADF session).
Is there a problem with database session, adf session or some connections settings/states ?
Could you explain what is the reason for that behavior and tell me if it is a way to make application work with relogin after database error ?
Thanks in advance
Marcin

Hi,
no, there is not. From the description you give its hard to determine whats going on there, but at least I can offer a pointer to the developer guide to learn about best practices. Maybe this helps solving the issue http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/toc.htm

  • Database adapter to continue polling after hitting exception

I am using BPEL 10.1.3.5. Using Database adapter "LogicalDeletePollingStrategy".
On hitting the exception in one of the records the adapter stops polling/processing other records for that transaction.
Ideally it is expected to continue processing other records.
I believe in 11g there is a JCA property Undying that makes the adapter to continue processing after hitting an exception. How is it in 10g to get this.
    Thanks,

There is no rejection handler been configured and I am not sure if its a better way to configure rejection handler for Database failed records to file.
As in 10g, the DB adapter stops after hitting exception for that transaction.

  • Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE in DB13

    Hello All,
When i opened the t-code DB13 i saw that this job "Mark tables requiring statistics update" is cancelled.

When check for the BGD Job in SM37 for this job i found the same error in the job log with the status cancelled.

12.02.2011 22:01:26 Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
I couldn't find any logs in SM21 of that time also no dumps in ST22.
    Possible reason for this error:
I have scheduled the job Check database structure (only tables) at some other time and deleted the earlier job which was scheduled during the bussiness hours which caused performance problem.
So to avoid performance issue i scheduled this job in the mid night by cancelling the old job which was scheduled during the bussiness hours.
And from the next day i could see this error in DB13.
Rest all the backups are running fine but the only job getting cancelled is for "Mark tables requiring statistics update"
Could anyone tell me what should i do to get rid of this error?
Can i schedule this "Mark tables requiring statistics update" again by deleting the old one?
    Thanks.
    Regards.
    Mudassir Imtiaz

    Hello Adrian,
    Thanks for your response.
Every alternate day we used to have performance issue at 19:00hrs.
Then when i checked what is causing this problem, i discovered that there was a backup "Check Database Structure (tables only)" scheduled at this time and it was mentioned that this backup may cause performance issue.
Then i changed "Check Database Structure (tables only)" the time of this backup to 03:00hrs.
The next day when i checked DB13 i found that one of the backups failed.
i.e. "Mark Tables Requiring Statistics Update"
Then i checked the log which i posted earlier with the error: "Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE"
I posted this error here and then i tried to delete the jobs scheduled i.e. "Mark Tables Requiring Statistics Update" and then re-schedule it at the same time and interval.
And then it started working fine.
So i just got curious to know the cause of the failure of that job.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mudassir.Imtiaz
P.S There is one more thing which i would like to say which is not related to the above issue, and m sorry to discuss this in this thread.
I found a few Bottlenecks in ST04 with Medium and High priority.
Medium: Selects and fetches selectivity 0.53%: 122569 selects and fetches, 413376906 rows read, 2194738 rows qualified.
High: 108771 primary key range accesses, selectivity 0.19%: 402696322 rows read, 763935 rows qualified.
    There are a lot these.
I would really appreciate if you tell me what is the cause for these Bottlenecks and how to resolve.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi ADF Gurus,
We have an ADF application which freezes after we create a row in a particular VO,

  • Error when executing APD-Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

    Hi,
We have a process chain which executes a APD using an ABAP program RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE.
It was executing successfully until few days back but now a days frequently once in 3 days roughly it is getting cancelled during execution of ABAP Program with the message 'Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE'
checked st22 and sm21 but didn't get any clue. But if we execute the same process chain manually(Immediate load) it is working fine all the times.
What may be the reason for the cancellation of the chain sometimes and the same chain working fine some other time and working very much fine when ran manually.
    Regards,
    Vishnu

    Hi Vishnu,
Can you check if there are any other process which is triggering the abap program RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE at the same time as the execution of this process in the chain.  You can check in which other chains this process is being used.  You can compare the time when this failed in the chain you mentioned with the same being run in other chains at the same time.

  • ADF: Tree Refresh after Expanding a node. Please Frank have a look!

    About this post:
Re: ADF: Tree Refresh after Expanding a node
Frank answered that he doesn't notice that behavior. I found out that this happens if an appication uses a custom skin.
In SRDemoSampleADFBC, SRManage.jspx (Management from menu), if you make the explorer window small enough not to cover the whole tree, you can notice this (the page jumps to the top).
Now if you change in adf-faces-config.xml the "skin-family" tag to "oracle", you will see that the tree component has changed (it has no triangle icons why this happens) and the page doesn't refresh.
    Minas

It seems that there's more to the tree expansion icon than the skin definition. We're using the minimal skin and ADF puts out a special character to represent the disclosure symbol (which by the way, renders differently on IE6, than IE7, than Safari or Firefox on Mac). However, switching to the Oracle skin, the disclosure symbol comes out as a full-on image (triangle including the +). We have found this frustrating because the triangles seem not sufficiently suggestive to our users - but switching to the Oracle skin has other issues with white-on-white text.
But in any case, the tree refresh after node expansion is another annoyance as I described in the other thread linked here (including URL to see problem in action).
    Cheers, Mark

    yes that is right.
Essentially you should be doing one of the following on weblogic side:
    1) Installed Certs on weblogic that were obtained from a commercial CA. (like verisign, thawte etc)
In this case, you will receive rootCA crt along with the other bundled certs and private key.
these rootCA certs are publicly available (your browser will be already using them)
    2) Using certs signed by your company. (companies can maintain their own CA)
In this case you should be having a rootCA cert from your company.
    3) using demo certs that were shipped with weblogic.
In this case, the rootca cert can be obtained from DemoTrust.jks
this is documented at http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs90/plugins/isapi.html#114851 (should be same for any plugins)
Apache plug-in can understand .crt extension.

I think that you have to install Xorg (or XFree, whichever X environment redhat uses) related packages.
They seem to be missing or not completely installed.
I don't remember which specific package contains "libXp" nor its dependencies... so i'd recommend you to install them all.

I would like to know, if there are people using ADF but without Oracle database. We are negotiating a new project, and I would IIke to develop it with ADF, but database will be Firebird or Postgres.
I know its possible, but Im searching experiences of using ADF mainly with other databases, and if its worth for this kind of project, or otherwise,if there are so many "changes" not using Oracle db.
    Regards.

  • Database exceptions data missing in SMD 7.1

    Hello all,
I have configured SMD on SolMan 7.1 SP03. I successfully connected 2 systems (ABAP single and JAVA single) to technical monitoring. Also SolMan self-monitoring was configured successfully. I can see some monitoring data in solman_workcenter, but I don't see any data in section Database Exceptions and Database performance like e.g. tablespace usage, last successful backup, reads per usercall etc... I can see current data in Database availability section - archiver status, instance status etc... There are obviously some data missing in BI as I get an info message : "No data has been transferred to BI system up to now for metric .....". Unfortunately I can't find out where is the problem so far. I can see SMD agents are connected and pushing other data (ABAP and host related) to SMD w/o any problems. Any hint is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Check this: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp01/helpdata/en/f7/51b87f807344eba0ddca2d2174cbee/frameset.htm
"A remote database connection between the DBA Cockpit and the remote database is configured and available, to gather the data for tablespaces, availability, backup status, etc. remotely. The prerequisites for database administration and monitoring are described in SAP note 1027146."

  • Perfomance Issue after Database Upgrade in 11i

    Hi All,
We upgraded database from 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.4, the system was running fine. One month after upgrade we changed the compatibility from 9.2.0 to 10.2.0 for compatibilty and optimizers. Since then perfomance is poor for self service and PTO carry over is taking more then 10 hours, earlier which completes in 1:15 min to 1:30 min. I logged a SR and following with Oracle Support.
Are there any _"Best Practices"_ to be followed after database upgrade from 9i to 10g in 11.5.10.2.
All the database parameters has been set as recommeded by metalink note:216205.1
How frequently gather schema statistics should be run on production?
    Thnaks in Advance for help.

Are there any _"Best Practices"_ to be followed after database upgrade from 9i to 10g in 11.5.10.2.
All the database parameters has been set as recommended by metalink note:216205.1
The best practice is to adjust initialization parameters as per the note referenced above.
In addition, review the following note carefully:

  • Reg:job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

    Hi All,
Process chain has failed in aggregate step with message "job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE"
But i manaully done the aggregate step.
But i would like to know the reason for the above message.
Can any one tell me this?
    Thanks
    SS

    Hi,
In the job log of aggregate step in the above line of the message "job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE" you will probably find the exact error message.
In the job log it will first display the exact error message and then the message "job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE" will appear, Please check it once.

  • Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE - Why ?

    Hi to all,
Anyone knows why, when I execute a program in foreground, everything is ok . When I try to execute it in background (schedulated in a job ) I obtain "Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
    Message no. 00564"
I have a check in 'at selection-screen event' to control "no data output" with an custom error message.
I really don't understand why job is cancelled !
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance .

    Hi,
           Write your message after start-of-selection.
Instead of putting an error message you can write the message while executing the program in background.
            after select .......
            if sy-subrc <> 0.
              if sy-batch = 'X'.
                write :/ 'No data found'.
             else.
message e000 with 'No data found'.
            endif.
         endif.
    Regards,
    Srini.

  • Strategy for database exceptions

I am designing our strategy for handling database exceptions which may occur upon saving for instance.
For example, if a user tries to save an object which violates a unique key constraint, I get that error wrapped by the DatabaseException class as documented.
The wrinkle is that I would really like to report to the user which fields caused this violation. We are using an oracle database for the foreseeable future, so portability is not critical.
Has anyone designed something which can get this metadata and attach it to the exception? Any tips would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    craig

I have found it very helpfull to separate the database / recordset from the rest of the project. If you create objects that model your records then the rest of your program doesn't know or care where the data came from. You could easily write store / retrieve methods to deal with the data from a file, over the web, from a socket connection, etc without having to alter your entire app. My advise is to do as little manipulation on the resultsets and focus on object manipulation instead. Mind you if your writing some sort of generic recordset "explorer" then this doesn't apply. You can't possibly model objects from some random recordset that you have no previous knowledge of. In that case you'd have to examine the meta data of the recordset to get field names, data types, etc.
