"upcoming events" snippet/widget for iweb

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to create an upcoming events snippet for an iweb page. Here's what I would like to do: I am an athletic director and would I have entered all of my school's athletic contests into iCal. I would like to set up something in which iWeb can pull the events out of iCal (I have mobileme) into a "week at a glance" type of display on our athletics page (made with iweb). Ideally it would automatically update so that as events are completed, the next events would show up.
I know how to embed an iCal calendar into iWeb, but that is not the solution that I am looking for.

I don't know how to make an iCal calendar default to the week view automatically for all viewers. Each viewer has the option to select which view it would like. There is a possible way to do what you want. embed the calendar on a blank page in your site and remove it from the navbar. Set that calendar to the week view as seen in this demo page: iCal calendar
Then add an HTML snippet with iFrame code to the page you want it to show on and set the frame dimensions so that it just includes the calendar. The calendar is sort of tall and would take up an entire page. It can't be scaled.
One the other hand, you can embed a Google calendar, have the week view as the default view and scale in withd to to whatever size you'd like. An example is on this demo page: Google calendar.
The Google map is supposed to be able to display an iCal calendar (see the triangle to the right of Agenda at the top) but I've not been able to get it to work. IMO the Google map is the way to go and more than just you could update it if need be.

  • Are there other widgets for iWeb (iLife 09)?

Specifically, I could really use a weather lone, like the dashboard offering. I could also use a rotating photo gallery widget for starters. I'd also like a calendar one that offers something like the "Upcoming events" calendar on this page:

    Thanks!

Not pre-configured widgets but with the right code you can use an HTML snippet to add nearly anything you want. For instance you can go to Google, create your own calendar and with iFrame code and an snippet you can embed and resize that Google calendar like seen here: Google calendar.

  • My HTML snippet widget on iWeb looks great on iWeb, but when I publish the page the HTML snippet doesn't appear on the webpage.  Why?

I pasted in some HTML code generated by Google Forms into the iWeb HTML snippet widget.  It looked great on my iWeb viewer, but when I published it to my website, the HTML snippet google form did not appear on my webpage.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    What is the code?

  • Dashboard Widgets for iWeb

It would be great if Apple added the ability to add pre-canned coded widgets for inclusion into iWeb – This would allow us to add such things as local weather, Ski reports, stocks, webcams, news feeds etc...
Just drop a widget onto the page as you would any other type of media, posistion it where you want it, job done!
Possibly link this to .Mac and give me a reason to keep my account now that i don't use Homepage.
    Any thoughts?

I made my point of not to volunteer my info in this

    that be known.

I don't think you are trying to punish anyone either... I really don't. But I think the entire iWeb community here stands to benefit from your renewed presence and hopefully continued and constructive thoughts. It is your prerogative as to how and with whom you choose to share your brilliant work, but honestly speaking, I think a lot of the new people around here won't know anything about your brilliance unless they are able to not only see but also to share in it. And that's the spirit of these forums anyways, don't you agree?
As the person who ostensibly called your work a hack, I just wanted to say that I never intended to cause you so much personal anguish. You know yourself the best, so I won't pretend to understand fully how my comments affected you so. It's too bad you decided to withdraw from the forum, especially in the way that you chose to do it. Fortunately for you, I don't think that many people saw the full extent of your lashing out against me.
Having said all of this, I want to apologize publicly for whatever disrespect that you interpreted from my comments. I have moved pass this, and I would have expected you to do the same by now. So take this for what it's worth. You don't need a welcome sign from me in order to participate here -- no one does. I welcome everyone as always, just as I was made to feel welcome. Stay and share if you like....if you don't, then don't. But let's let bygones be bygones. What do you say?

  • Social networking share widgets for iWeb... any solutions?

I've been trying in vain for sometime to get one of the social networking share widgets (ShareThis, AddThis, TellaFriend) to work in iWeb 08 and am hoping someone might be able to help.
With all i am pasting the code provided by these services into the HTML Snippet box. I am using the popup functions, since without doing so requires the HTML Snippet box to be resized unacceptably large obscuring other links on the page. The widgets are published fine, however the link they provide when posting to social networking site or included in an email add an additional extension on the URL that just links to an image of the widget. (i.e. http://web.me.com/fknott/CrystalCove_Properties_2//Home_files/widget1markup.html) the URL should end Home.html.
Does anyone know how to fix this? the tech folks at each of these sites have been no help at all. Are there any other share widgets aside from these that will work seemlessly with iWeb?
    I really appreciate any help.
    Thank you,
    Troy

    Hello Marc,
The code generated by ShareThis will not work with iWeb/insert HTML snippet.
You'll have to put it inside the body tags of every HTML page at the location where you want it to show.
Attention : the code is inserted after publishing = outside iWeb ! Every time you change a page in iWeb and publish it, you'll need to enter the code again.
To automate this process you can use [TextWrangler|http://www.barebones.com/products/TextWrangler>
_ in iWeb on every page you want ShareThis, create a new textbox and add something that is unique and easy to find afterwards when the page is published as a HTML page : ex. AAAAAA,
_ move the textbox to the location where you want it to show, resize if needed,
_ publish your website with iWeb,
_ mount your iDisk in the Finder,
_ open TextWrangler and the first thing you do is "start recording",
_ open the first HTML file you see in your Site, ex. index.html (It's OK if that page doesn't have the AAAAAA) +(when you have the ShareThis on a specific Site or Blog only, locate that folder),
_ in the Search field enter AAAAAA,
_ in the Replace fiel enter the code provided by ShareThis,
_ do a "replace in all files in this folder" where you select your Site or Blog folder,
_ stop recording and save the script for later,
_ unmount iDisk from the finder.
    Done.
On my Blog entry about [Favicons|http://www.site49.eu/Leo/Tips4Mac/Entries/2009/2/15_Favicons.html|Add favicons to iWeb websites] you can find some screenshots on how to use TextWrangler as an automated search and mass replace tool.
    Kind regards,

  • Twitter Widget for iWeb not working

Sorry if this answer has already been asked. I am creating a website using iWeb. I wanted to add my twitter account to it so I went to Twitter and went through their widget maker, customized it, copied the html code, pasted in the iWeb html widget box, and it worked great. Now, all of the sudden none of my twitter account widgets are working in iWeb. Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks,
    J

    Yes, I said that :
Sometimes you have to imagine that you see it in iWeb.
Here's how it looks in iWeb :
And here's how it looks in the published page.

As I said. you have to imagine that you see it.

  • Calendar Widget Not Showing Upcoming Events

I've upgraded to the latest N900 firmware (pr1.2) and ever since I have had a problem with the calendar widget. All the events are contained in the calendar when I open it however they are not displayed on the desktop widget.
I've got events loaded for the month of June but for some reason these are not showing. Instead I have events showing for July, September and even December. I've tried removing all the entries and the re-adding them but this hasn't solved the problem. I also created another calendar and placed the entries in the new one, again this didn't work.
Does anybody have any idea how I can resolve this problem.

I have exactly the same problem with the Calendar Widget not showing all upcoming events. It will show events way in the future but skip events inbetween. I've tried all day with PC Suite 7.1 and Outlook 2007 and some freshly entered events come across for unknown reasons whilst others do not. No amount of changing local entries to synchronized ones, deleting all calendar info from the phone and re-syncing by USB cable or Bluetooth solves the problem.
It worked fine before and, as you say, corresponds with the recent n900 software update.

Also, why isn't there a fully compatible PC Suite or Ovi Suite for the n900? I have a PC running Windows 7 and Nokia have told me in the past that they do not have a fully functional, compatible PC/Ovi Suite for Windows 7 and the n900.

  • IWeb doesn't offer widget for Facebook "Like" button?

Is it true that iWeb doesn't offer a widget for adding a Facebook LIKE button? The code offered to copy by Facebook doesn't work when I paste it into a text box on my iWeb site.
Thanks for any insights fellow users can offer. My free trial will be ending soon and I'd only sign up for the year if these issues can be resolved.

That's because you don't paste html code into a text box. You need to copy and paste any kind of html code into an html snippet placed on your page where you want the code to appear. Copy and paste the code into the snippet and click on Apply and it should display.

  • Re: upcoming events on calendar widget

How do i get calendar entries to appear as upcoming events on the calendar widget? I have entries in the calendar but widget just says ' no upcoming events'

I've noticed that events don't appear straight away once entered - A system restart will often refresh this or the quickest way without waiting for a system refresh is to remove the widget then re-add it

  • Ical widget for entering events

Does anyone know a good widget for entering new events? I found one that displays events nicely but not one for entering them.

  • Adding widgets to iWeb

    Hi there,
Another question....i have added widgets to my page via the html snippet option on iWeb. What I would like to do is take it a step further and customize the look of the widget. Is this possible??

You would need to alter the html code that you have placed in the html snippet, unless it is custom code, from another site, in which case no.
If you want other designs, go to where you got the widget in the first place and copy and paste the code for a different design.

  • Dynamic Raindrops Effect for iWeb - any suggestions?

I would like to add a dynamic raindrop effect (preferably free) to an iWeb '09 page.
Something similar to the effect found here:
    http://www.dseffects.com/scriptsfx/DSRain/DSRain.html
I tried the one listed above, but couldn't get it to work.
I'm currently using a snow effect which works fine. I was hoping a similar snippet exists for rain. I've found several, but none seem to actually work.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The snowflakes drift (as opposed to simply falling), they also congregate at the bottom of the screen, so I suspect more than a simple gif replacement would be required, and as I've already indicated, I know next to nothing about code.
I'm seeking a solution that requires nothing more than pasting a line of code in the HTML snippet widget, and possibly coping a .js file to my site. Anything more complicated than that would require detailed step-by-step instructions.

  • Calendar home widget for N900, customizable

i have been using this widget since its release!
unlike the default calendar widget you use on your screen, where it only lists a certain amount of appointments, etc, and when you tap on it takes you to the day-at-a-glance, this is totally cusomizable in size and where you want it to take you when you tap on it!
it is called Calendar Home Widget, and is in the EXTRAS-DEVEL
    xterm
    sudo gainroot
    cal-home-widget
btw...if you are lookiing at this with your n900, then you can click on the Calendar Home Widget and it will install the application so long as you have the EXTRAS-DEVEL in your catalogs already.
if you use appmanager, then  be sure you have the catalog installed and then search for calendar home widget
    enjoy!

  • ICal day view upcoming events list--can it be turned off?

Just upgraded to 10.7 and the changes to iCal (v. 5.0.3) are horrifying. I plan most of my daily work on iCal and really need the Day view of the calendar to fill most of the window and show more details on my calendar items as it did before in 10.6. As it is now, the left half of the screen is now taken over by a list of upcoming events which gives the daily view too little space, so all my calendar items and notes are truncated. Makes it very difficult to work with. Is there a way to turn that upcoming view off? I don't understand why it's there. If I've selected "day" as my view option, it stands to reason that I don't need upcoming events for this week. The rationale behind that being there taking up all that unnecessary space is beyond me.
Barring that, anyone have any suggestions for an iCal replacement? I have a long list of other complaints but this one is a big one. If I can't fix this, I need to move on to something else.

Same question here... over a year later!  Mine's about iCal 6, but it's the very same issue.
Cannot stand the scrolling list of events.  When I select a day view, I want to concentrate on that day's events-- and not see a long list of other events for other days!
Rick, did you ever find a solutiion?  Maybe there's a hidden Terminal command to turn it off.  I kept looking for dot within the pane divider to collapse it, but it's not there.  Nor is there an option under Preferences!
Long live Snow Leopard and the old iCal!
