Update an query using a loop valuee

here is what i am doing?
getting the result from the query: showing the form as:
thereafter the updation is performed as:
<cfquery datasource="#DSN#">
UPDATE answer SET
answer = '#Form.ans1[idx]#'
where ID = #Form.G_Q#
</cfquery>
on new page, use of array or structure will be role playing
here, but i am confused how this is achieved..

In the example code you posted, you would have wound up with
4 form fields, all named "ans1". This would have resulted in a
comma-delimited list of your answers on the form's action page.
this is probably not a great solution, especially since you are
dealing with text that may contain commas. By creating a new
numbered field for each answer, you can separate out the answer
text and process it on the next page.
For the update, you can loop over the fields you created
using CF's scope structure notation: Form["MyVar"]. Using
<cfqueryparam> will speed up your query also give you some
protection against SQL injection.
In the future, its very helpful to use <cfdump
var="#Form#"> on the form processing page to see what form data
is being passed and what fields are available.

  • Breaking a single query using for loop to improve performance

    Hi,
    This is a continuation of my previous post which I marked Answered and few things are were left from my side and I was advised to post a new thread...
    [Will it be a good ply|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=880922&tstart=0]
    will it be applicable to any query because I took this to simplify the thing to explain my case
    which is actually........... pull the data from some tables using joins and insert into some other tables .....
    I used few procedures for diff conditions one of them use plain' insert into select' and others use bulk collect technique.
    I followed the simple strategy (for DML ) by Tom Kytes ..and Steven Feuerstein
    Use single statement whenever it is possible..
    if not use PL/SQL with bulk collect to avoid for loop.
    Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • UPDATE SQL query using WHERE and a date/time data type... Multiple changes...

    I'm using the LabView Database Connectivity Toolset and am using the following query...
    UPDATE IndexStation
    SET Signal_Size=200
    WHERE 'StartTime=12:05:23'
    Now the problem is that this command seems to update all rows in the table IndexStation... Not just specifically the row where StartTime=12:05:23
    I have tries all sorts of {} [] / ' " around certain characters and column names but it always seems to update all rows...
    I've begun to use the SQL query tab in Access to try and narrow down as to why this happens, but no luck!
    Any ideas!?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Chris Walter wrote:
    I completely agree about the Microsoft issue.
    But it seems no SQL based manual states that { } will provide a Date/Time constant.
    Is this an NI only implementation? Because I can't seem to get it to function correctly within LabView or in any SQL query.
    Chris.
    There is nothing about the database toolkit in terms of SQL syntax that would be NI specific. The database Toolkit simply interfaces to MS ADO/DAO and the actual SQL syntax is usually implemented in the database driver or database itself although I wouldn't be surprised if ADO/DAO does at times munch a bit with that too.
    The Database Toolkit definitely does not. So this might be a documentation error indeed. My understanding of SQL syntax is in fact rather limited so not sure which databases might use what delimiters to format date/time values. I know that SQL Server is rather tricky thanks to MS catering for the local date/time format in all their tools and the so called universal date/time format has borked on me on several occasions.

  • How to update multiple records using for loop

    Hi I want to update a particular column of few rows in database i had written followin code after that few lines of code and calling action from the task which having commit return ,still it's not updating particular colum.I had debug the code loop is running fine but still changes are not reflecting to database.Let me know if there is any prob with following code snippet.
    RealEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVOImpl realEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVO = RealEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVOImpl)realEstateService.getRealEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVO();
    for(Row row : realEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVO.getAllRowsInRange())
    if("N".equalsIgnoreCase((String)row.getAttribute("RlstdSellYn"))
    || "false".equalsIgnoreCase((String)row.getAttribute("RlstdSellYn")))
    row.setAttribute("RlstdAvlblYn", "Y" );
    System.out.println("RlsthId "+row.getAttribute("RlstdRlsthId"));
    System.out.println("AvlbYN "+row.getAttribute("RlstdAvlblYn"));
    System.out.println("RlstdUnitId "+row.getAttribute("RlstdUnitId"));
    }

    Vishwesh,
    I'd start with something along the lines of ...
        RowSet vo = (RowSet)getRealEstatePropertyUnitDetailsVO();
        vo.reset();
        while (vo.hasNext())
          Row row = vo.next();
          row.setAttribute("Attribute", value);
        }getAllRowsInRange() may exclude some rows outside the "range". Also, the vo.reset is needed since your View Object currency may not be at the beginning of your RowSet.
    Hope that helps.

  • How Can Improve On Slow Update Query Using /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */?

    We have an update query recently brought to my attention that is running extremely slow on Oracle 11.2.0.1 against a secure file binary XML table using
    update /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */croutreach.action set object_value = :1 where actn_id = :2 .
    I am told the majority/near majority of the ~ 16 fields are updated. Also this table has numerous predefined virtual columns with fn based indexes on them.
    My first inclination was to recast this using the Oracle updatexml function. I was told, the /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ hint would also be necessary here.
    update /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */
    <tble_name> a
    set a.object_value = updatexml(a.object_value ...).
    Last year our dba's were instructed by Oracle Support to use this hint, as the update wasn't updating any records w.o any error msgs.
    +1. Hoping to find out if anyone has run across using this hint in some capacity and what was their experience?+
    In trying to optimizie this update statement, I'll start from scratch not using the /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ hint and will commence with using the updatexml function with setting up an xmlindex.
    +2. Hoping to receive some suggestions on creating the proper xmlindex - figuring an unstructured index. If get some good performance with the xmlindex; hoping to retire some of the virtual column usage.+
    +3. Any suggestions on living with virtual columns in conjunction with xmlindexes? See the action table definition and associated ivirtual columns and indexes. This table seems over indexed...+

    update /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */croutreach.action set object_value = :1 where actn_id = :2 .
    This update pattern is used in the production environment and is slowing the environment down as more xml content is increased. In a new release build, this update pattern against the action table described earlier, is particularly problematic.
    Have some more information on the /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ hint. It turns out, last year, updates statements would intermittently fail to correctly update silently failing. An Oracle Service Request was created. Over the span of about 5 mnths, Oracle determined a very low level Oracle kernel bug was the culprit. Oracle As a result of this SR, Oracle SUpport created BUG 11939507 <ORA-08102: index key not found during update on xmltable with a virtual column>. This bug is viewable on metalink. Oracle claims this bug has only been oberved on In the interim to 11.2.0.3, Oracle Support mentioned to use /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */; thus disabling piecewise update.
    Here's preface information on this bug:

    BUG TYPE CHOSEN  =============== code
    Component: XML Database  =======================
    DETAILED PROBLEM DESCRIPTION  ============================
    The issue happens intermittently when running a batch program with 50  concurrent sessions that involves high concurrent updates.
    DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS  ===================  reproducible testcase on customer dummy data reproduced by Thomas.
    WORKAROUND?  ===========  No
    TECHNICAL IMPACT  ================  Customer is experiencing this error which is critical to the application  because it causes a home health care provider to possibly lose a couple  hours worth of work and have to start from scratch. The condition has only  accessed concurrently from about 40 threads
    RELATED ISSUES (bugs, forums, RFAs)  ===================================  Bug 8514561 - ORA-8102 WHEN UPDATING TABLE
    HOW OFTEN DOES THE ISSUE REPRODUCE AT CUSTOMER SITE?  ====================================================  Intermittent
    DOES THE ISSUE REPRODUCE INTERNALLY?  ====================================  Intermittent
    IS A TESTCASE AVAILABLE?  ========================  Yes  The good news is, this bug is corrupting a virtual index column.
    I'll try test cases using the update pattern; 'update /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */croutreach.action set object_value = :1 where actn_id = :2 ' - substituting actual values for the bind variables and removing interfering virtual columns. Wil lcompare with and w/o the hint.
    This wil address your; "Where does the new values come from? Individual variables?" - and provide sample data.
    Presently, this update pattern is used 'blindly' in that when no xml relevent changes are identified, only a couple of the roughly 16 fields are updated - yet the whole document gets updated with this update pattern. When changes occur, the whole document is updated. Will work with updating 1 or 2 fields using updatexml and try the xmlexists function for the predicate.
    04/25/12 Update:
    odie 63,
    Here's a sample xml record from the action securefile binary xml table:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8' standalone = 'yes'?><action xsi:type="AssessmentActionType" status_dt="2012-01-18T19:38:21.077Z" status="not applicable" create_dt="2012-01-17T23:10:16.173Z" id="dfdfdfdfdfddfdfdfdfdfdf" xmlns:ns5="http://www.xxxxx.ddd/exception/definition/schema/2010/01" xmlns="http://www.xxxxxx.ddd/mmm/domains/actions/2010/03" xmlns:ns6="http://www.xxxxx.ddd/mmm/domains/utility/outcome/2010/03" xmlns:ns7="http://www.xxxxxx.ddd/mmm/domains/common/2010/03" xmlns:ns2="http://www.xxxxx.ddd/mmm/messages/actions/2010/03" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ns3="http://www.xxxxx.ddd/mmm/domains/workforce/2010/03" xmlns:ns4="http://www.xxxxxx.ddd/mmm/domains/entitlement/2011/11">

          </outreachActionDefInfo>

    </action>Started out using this update statement against the virtual column a.actn_id. This column is also indexed as a fbi.
    UPDATE /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ action A
    SET A.object_value = updatexml(A.object_value,'/action/@status','triggered','xmlns="http://www.xxxx.vvv/yyy/domains/actions/2010/03"')
    where a.actn_id='888a80be-d69f-464d-b3f7-85b6209f918e';
    This statment updates fine with and w/o the hint. This hint takes away the piecewise update of the xml document and relies upon the a.actn_id virtual column.
    Then removed the reliance on the virtual column using the xmlexists fn.
    First did an alter index 'actn_id_pk invisible' to take the virtual column out of consideration by the optimizer.
    UPDATE /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ action A
    SET A.object_value = updatexml(A.object_value,'/action/@status','triggered','xmlns="http://www.xxxx.vvv/yyy/domains/actions/2010/03"')
    where xmlexists('$p/action[@id="'888a80be-d69f-464d-b3f7-85b6209f918e'"]' PASSING object_value as "p");
    This update runs but doesn't update any columns - with or without the hint.
    Also created a basic unstructured xmlindex to remove the full table scan - which worked fine execution plan-wise.
    create index action_xmlindex_ix on action (object_value) indextype is xdb.xmlindex;Per the SR on this, the /*+ NO_XML_DML_REWRITE */ disables piecewise update and is a workaround for the bug surrounding virtual column index usage when having many concurrent sessions and updates against a table with millions of xml documents. Getting rid of the virtual column in the predicate removes the need for the workaround hint.
    My problem is This update runs but doesn't update any columns. Maybe am missing something or doing a syntax/semantic error ?
    Any assistance much appreciated...

  • Update Query using Toplink

    I would like to fire an update query using Toplink mapping objects. The
    structure of the Query would be like
    update <<table name>>
    set <<col name A>> = 'Y'
    where <<col name B>> in (<<valA>>,<<valB>>............);
    ValA, ValB.... are dynamic values passed from my front end Java App
    Can anyone help me in this regard...........
    Thanks
    Karthik

    Karthik,
    This is new functionality added in 10.1.3. You will want to look at UpdateAllQuery.

  • How to loop through a query using LINQPAD?

    I have this query in LINQPAD:
    SELECT TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP AS Productive_Time
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('13/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('18/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    However, I need to extract out the SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime on a daily basis, and thus I need to execute those below codes each time to extract out each day values. How do I combine those into 1 single query such that each day data
    can be displayed? Do I need to write a loop inside the WHERE condition?
    SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('13/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('14/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('14/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('15/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('15/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('16/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('16/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('17/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    SELECT SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) as ProductiveTime
    FROM PFODS.PPL_TESTSYSTEMS_UTILISATION
    WHERE (SYSTEMTYPE = '0005-064') AND
    (TS_START >= to_date('17/01/2014', 'DD/MM/YYYY'))
    AND (TS_End <= to_date('18/01/2014 00:1:59', 'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')) AND MONO != '9999999999'
    Order by TS_START ASC
    In addition to display the SUM(TIME_TEST+TIME_STEP) for each day, I also need to display the date itself.
    I do no want (cannot) to write anything on Stored Procedure, and I can only write simple query.
    thanks.

    Use a loop like the code below
    DateTime startDate = DateTime.Parse("1/1/14");
    DateTime endDate = DateTime.Parse("2/16/14");
    int numberOfDays = (endDate - startDate).Days + 1;
    for (int dateCount = 0; dateCount < numberOfDays; dateCount++)
    DateTime currentDate = startDate.AddDays(dateCount);
    Even better use a dictionary like in the code below
    static void Main(string[] args)
    DataTable table = new DataTable();
    Dictionary<DateTime, List<DataRow>> dict = table.AsEnumerable()
    .GroupBy(x => x.Field<DateTime>("TS_START").Date, x => x)
    .ToDictionary(x => x.Key, x => x.ToList());
    Console.WriteLine("Date ProductiveTime Comment");
    Console.WriteLine("========== ==========");
    foreach(DateTime date in dict.Keys)
    List<DataRow> dateRows = dict[date];
    int productiveTime = dateRows.AsEnumerable()
    .Select(x => x.Field<int>("PRODUCTIVE_TIME"))
    .ToList().Sum();
    int firstRow = table.Rows.IndexOf(dateRows[0]);
    int LastRow = table.Rows.IndexOf(dateRows[dateRows.Count - 1]);
    Console.WriteLine("{0} {1} Row{2} to Row{3}",
    date.ToShortDateString(), productiveTime.ToString(),
    firstRow.ToString(), LastRow.ToString());

  • Query regarding Update the data using application

    I have scenario i need to update single record in the the application and insert into a table
    for example
    SELECT ContactID,FirstName,MiddleName,LastName,Description FROM Contact
    Contact table contains 4 columns as explained. in the application there is one tab called Contact where it displays Above information
    and description is non editable.
    Now the new requirement has come user can update the description information and save information in a new column say 'Description1'
    that means new column needs to be added in the db and also necessary changes needs to be done at the application side
    For ex :SELECT ContactID,FirstName,MiddleName,LastName,Description,Description1 FROM Contact
    Now when user views the contact table it should display description info by default from 'description' table.
    If he edits he should see edited data from 'description1' table.
    Can any body guide me please and send me sample update query please, and the logic should if updated data is there display that data from
     'description1' table other wise display from  'description' table
    Smash126

    Hi Smash126,
    You need to fire the update command once you have filled the description record. It should happen on the primary key column of the record.
    For Example:
    UPDATE Contact
    SET Description  = 'New Description',
    Description1 = 'New Description'
    where contactID = <<ContactID from application>>
    This way both will updated to same value, and next time you will get the updated value.

  • Conditionally disabling record updation after query

    Dear members
    I've a single record block and I wanna conditionaly disable records updation after query has fetched data. Problem is that if I disable the record updation in Post-Query trigger then it checks the condition for the very first fetched record and it the condition is true, then Updation is disabled for all the fetched records, even if the next records dont meet the condition. I'm using forms-10g. Can u give a better solution??? thanx.

    you have to use SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY to modify only one record:
    BEGIN
        IF ... <your_condition> THEN
            SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY('YOUR_BLOCK.YOUR_ITEM1', UPDATE_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_FALSE);
        ELSE
            SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY('YOUR_BLOCK.YOUR_ITEM1', UPDATE_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_TRUE);
        END IF;
    END;

  • How to update sales orders using B1WS in SAP 8.8 PL18

    Hello all.
    We are having a problem updating sales orders using Sap Business One Web Service ( B1WS ).
    We are running SBO 8.8 PL18, MS-SQL 2008, and all is fine when using the SBO client.
    But when it comes to updating sales orders through B1WS we just cannot get it to work.
    We can add new orders easily without problems. Updating orders always gives this error:
    \[ORDR.PayDuMonth\]\[line: 0\] , 'Field cannot be updated (ODBC -1029)'
    We have checked and verified multiple times that our setup is correct.
    Also the WDSL files are verified.
    We can update orders just fine using the sboclient.
    And using B1WS we can basically do everything, besides updating.
    We have also tried this on different company db's, so we are quite sure this is not
    something related to some general setting we missed, but who knows?
    We have tried different ways to "assemble" the order before updating, but it always
    ends with the above error.
    Here is an example of one of the tests, where we load an order by docentry,
    increment the quantity of all open lines by '1', and then try to update it.
            protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
                // First we login
                string sessionId = "";
                LoginService.LoginService l_login = new LoginService.LoginService();
                LoginService.LoginDatabaseType l_dbtype = LoginService.LoginDatabaseType.dst_MSSQL2008;
                LoginService.LoginLanguage _lang = LoginService.LoginLanguage.ln_English;
                string _server = "SAP-8_8PL18";
                string _licserver = "SAP-8_8PL18:30000";
                string _db = "my_test_company";
                string _user = "manager";
                string _pass = "********";
                try
                    sessionId = l_login.Login(_server, _db, l_dbtype, true, _user, _pass,
                               _lang, true, _licserver);
                catch (Exception ex)
                    Response.Clear();
                    Response.Write(ex.Message);
                    Response.End();
                if (sessionId == "")
                    Response.Clear();
                    Response.Write("No sessionId");
                    Response.End();
                // We are logged in and have a sessionId
                // Now load a valid open order by docentry
                try
                    OrdersServiceRef.OrdersService orderService = new OrdersServiceRef.OrdersService();
                    orderService.MsgHeaderValue = new OrdersServiceRef.MsgHeader();
                    orderService.MsgHeaderValue.SessionID = sessionId;
                    orderService.MsgHeaderValue.ServiceName = OrdersServiceRef.MsgHeaderServiceName.OrdersService;
                    orderService.MsgHeaderValue.ServiceNameSpecified = true;
                    OrdersServiceRef.DocumentParams docParams = new OrdersServiceRef.DocumentParams();
                    docParams.DocEntry = 31; // Docentry of a known open order
                    docParams.DocEntrySpecified = true;
                    OrdersServiceRef.Document order = orderService.GetByParams(docParams);
                    OrdersServiceRef.DocumentDocumentLine line = null;
                    for (int i = 0; i < order.DocumentLines.Length; i++)
                        line = order.DocumentLines<i>;
                        if (line.LineStatus == OrdersServiceRef.DocumentDocumentLineLineStatus.bost_Open)
                            line.Quantity += 1;
                    orderService.Update(order);
                catch (System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException ex)
                    Response.Clear();
                    Response.Write(ex.Message);
                    Response.End();
                catch (Exception ex)
                    Response.Clear();
                    Response.Write(ex.Message);
                    Response.End();
                Response.Clear();
                Response.Write("All OK");
                Response.End();
    I hope that someone has an idea as to why this happens.
    The customer often changes quantity or adds lines on their orders,
    and the only way to solve it so far has been to make a new order and
    close the old one.
    Thanks in advance
    J. Thomsen

    Hi,
    Welcome you post on the forum.
    Have you checked if you only update a specific line instead of a loop?
    Thanks,

  • How do I get an XY Chart to display properly while using embedded loop

    s to periodically read multiple channels of similar data? (multi-Y versus specified time) The plot just becomes a point or a single plot of all values taken at one scanning of all channels. I want multiple plots over time updated at the time of scanning.I have also stored my data in a daily text file that is tab delimited. The text files consists of a row of text column headers, a blank row and then rows of data. The data rows are mixed data types. The first column is a date/time such as Mar 1, 2002 12:01 pm. The remaining columns are numeric data. I can't seem to get my data to plot properly in an XY chart from memory and am having problems parsing the data with mixed data types in the data r

    When I plot the data, I either get a single point or a a series of points for a single reading of all channels or I get a line connecting all data for that single scan reading. What am I doing wrong? At this point, I don't care if I read the data from the file to plot it or if I can just get Labview to plot correctly as the data is gathered without going to the history file.
    As noted in the summary question, I have embedded loops in my applicaiton. I have a while-loop that determines the scan rate and keeps the program running until it is turned off. Inside of that, I have a for-loop (in a subVI) which scans all my data channels.
    Thanks for your help.

    supply an array of these clusters but you have to resupply the "x" array
    for each of them.

  • UPDATING the query in materialized view

    Hi,
    i have a little doubt in Materialized view. i created a materialized view and log with the following query,
    create table test_mv (a number ,b number )
    alter table test_mv add constraint t_pk primary key ( a );
    insert into test_mv values (1,2);
    insert into test_mv values(2,2);
    insert into test_mv values(3,2);
    insert into test_mv values(4,2);
    insert into test_mv values(5,2);
    commit;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON test_mv

    *(a,b)*
    INCLUDING NEW VALUES;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW product_sales_mv
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE
    AS SELECT  b  from test_mv;
    Now i want to update the query in the MV as 'Select a from test_mv' . for that i tried with
    *'ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW product_sales_mv AS SELECT a from test_mv;'*
    But it throwing error,
    Error starting at line 5 in command:

    i guess i am doing wrong. kindly help me here. i want to update it without drop and recreate.
    thanks,
    Jeevanand.Ke

    Hi Jeeva,
    No. you cannot add or drop columns to the materialized view using the ALTER Statement.
    To Change the Structure of the view , drop and re-create the materialized view.
    To Alter a materialized view log, You can use the ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG. By this,
    You can add new columns to a materialized view log.
    ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON sggi_mrps.emp ADD(deptno);Thanks,
    Shankar

  • Is it possible to update a query with another query?

    I'm trying to update a query with another query (see attached
    code). Here's my setup: I've got a table in an Access database in
    which I enter a string into a form and update. This string
    corresponds to a single record in another table of the same
    datasource. The first table has only one record to provide the
    second, which has many and will have more. Basically what I'm
    wondering is: Is this a valid thing to do in coldfusion? If not
    please help with an alterate method. I'm still a novice at
    coldfusion.
    The overall effect I'm going for is to display the one record
    as a featured truck profile on the web site:
    www.truckerstoystore.net.
    I currently get an error when I try to display the page with the
    current query setup.
    Check this page to see the error:
    www.truckerstoystore.net/currentTOW2.cfm
    Help on this issue is very much appreciated.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    I think this is what you are after
    <!--- this query will get all the records from the DB
    --->
    <cfquery name="cTOW" datasource="tow">
    SELECT *
    FROM currentTOW
    <!--- Do you need to find a particular record in the
    database --->
    <!--- If so, then you need a 'where' clause in here
    --->
    </cfquery>
    <!-- Loop the cTOW query for each record returned -->
    <cfloop query="cTOW">
    <!--- For the record returned from the cTOW query you now
    need to update the table --->
    <!-- Update the table -->
    <cfquery name="currentTOW" datasource="tow">
    UPDATE Your tblName
    SET
    Dataname = cTOW.DataValue
    </cfquery>
    </cfloop>
    thats it
    PS: I think your original query needs modifying. To return
    the exact records that you want to update from the original table.
    ie: Primary and foreign key relationship

  • Updating data outside a foor loop

    I hope someone can help me with the following problem. I collect data into an array with a for loop. The data is visualized in an intensity graph. All this works fine. I would like to update the graph line by line as the for loop runs. I managed this too but only if the graphing is done in the same VI as the for loop. This I would like to avoid as the program is already rather complex and it is difficult to keep track of all the things. I therefore made the for loop data acquisition into a subVI but now the updating doesn't seem to work. My question is, is it possible to update data outside a for loop when the loop and the data are in different VIs.
    Klas

    Hi
    It is a good way, doing it like that.
    There are also other ways. And the easiest one, that people tend to use imediately are the global variables.
    If you can, avoid using them - when you use them a lot, sooner or later you end up in having problems (it is very difficult to control the data flow of your program like that). A good way of doing it is using the so called LV2 globals.
    It is called like that beacause it was introduced in version 2 of LabVIEW- it consists of a subvi with a while loop with a non-initialised shift register. Because it is in this situation, it keeps the value of the last time it ran and even has the advantage that you can even place some code in the variable like this (like a case structure to read and write the value). The biggest advantage is that you can control the flow of the program - beacause the vi cannot run concurrentely.
    Take a look at the following example:
    Hope it helps,
    Paulo
