Update CMS

Hi!
While trying to create a track in the CMS when i selected
Add SC..., the dropdowns (vendor, SC, etc) were empty. So i moved to the Domain Data tab to run a Update CMS. The problem is that after aproximately 5 minutes, the update process stops with a <b>SLD Read Timed Out</b> error message.The SLD has SAP's Software Components and Products contained in the CIM data model (which are quite a lot!). Maybe this is the source of the problem.
I was wondering if there's a way to increase the timeout value.
Any other kind of solution to this problem will be appreciated.
Regards,
Nicolá

Hi Nicolas,
Did you get a chance to go thru this link.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/52/46f6a089754e3a964a5d932eb9db8b/content.htm
It specifies the properties of HTTP provider service.
Just have a look at Keep Alive and Keep Alive timeout properties.
However i would recommend opening an OSS message for further investigation.

  • Error "Update CMS"

    Hi experts,
    If I do click the "Update CMS" button then come following error message:
    SLD (URL http://server:port) server exception: IO error: Read timed out
    Thank you in advance,
    Stefan

    Hi, thanks for the answer.
    I checked those two options and the host is declared in my hosts file and everything is configured in only one server.
    I don´t what else could it be, but there's something....
    I´m using the NWDI for first time in the server, so, when I execute the "update cms" option to load the "Software Components" and be able to work with them, the list of components has 2200 objects; all these objects are not new, but this is the firs time that they are gonna be loaded.....can this be the cause of the "Read timed out" error???
    Well, thanks again and I wait for the answer....

    search SAP notes for your tomcat clustering or cluster.properties. You need to add your cluster members to the web.xml or the cluster.properties file (some direction is in the web.xml file to follow).

  • Few questions regarding the "Update CMS" button

    Hello,
    Few questions regarding the "Update CMS" button:
    1. When I create new product at the SLD I see it at the add SC table even if I don't click the "Update CMS" button first. If so, when will I use this option?
    2. When I do click the "Update CMS" button it takes it between 30-40 minutes to finish the update. During this time frame the whole development portal (it is sitting on the same WAS as the NWDI) becomes extremely slow. Is this normal response time or do I have a certain performance problem with my server?
    Thank you in advance,
    Roy

  • Updating CMS Node properties not working

    I have a pageflow controller that is fetching a node from the content
    management server, and updating a property on it. However, this value change
    is not being persisted... the next time I load the node the old value is
    still there and the modified time has not been changed.
    Does the proper way to modify node metadata differ from the following????
    NodeOps nodeOps = repManager.getNodeOps();
    ID nodeID = new ID(repName,nodeUID);
    Node node = nodeOps.getNode(nodeID);
    Property currentProperty = currentProperty =
    currentNode.getProperty("mymetadatatitle");
    currentProperty.setValue(new Value("newStringValue"));
    I have also tried using:
    nodeOps.renameNode(nodeID,newName);
    ... which is also not persisting any changes. I have verified that the
    incoming values reflect the changed values I would like to persist.
    Is there some kind of transaction boundary that I'm not aware of, and a
    transaction possibly rolling back? I don't see any errors or exception being
    thrown and am stumped....

    Ahhhhhhh... I'm sure that'll solve it... thanks!

    The Property object is just a value object, so updating it does not
    trigger a save.
    Try this after your code:
    node = nodeOps.updateProperties(node.getId(),
    node.getProperties());
    The returning Node should have the updated properties, as well, plus
    anyother side effects from the save.
    I'm not sure why renameNode() isn't persisting anything in the database
    tables, without more information. Node is also a value object, so just
    calling renameNode() won't modify the node instance you have unless you
    reassign from the return value (e.g. node =
    nodeOps.renameNode(node.getId(), newName)). However, just the call
    should update the database once the transaction is finished. And, if
    you're not creating an outer transaction somewhere (i.e. in the
    jsp/servlet/jpf, or at an EJB boundary), then a transaction gets created
    and comitted entirely within the call to renameNode().

  • Not able to update the CMS

    Hi Experts,
    I have been trying to access the CMS and trying to click on the "update CMS" or "Save Domain" buttons. Then i am getting the following error.
    Please let me know how to rectify this error.
    SLD (URL http://127.0.0.1:50100) server exception: User credentials are invalid or user is denied access (password change required)
    Actually i have a small doubt.
    Actually, I have installed the ,sneek preview version . After installation i have changed the entries in ->visual Admin -> server-> services-> SLD Data Suplier->
    Hostname : 127.0.0.1 to the mechine name 01hw099151.
    The above changes i have done to activate the sld access . so why it is still pointing to 127.0.0.1.
    Where i need to make the changes to rectify this problem.
    Regards

    Hi,
    As the error indicates, you've to change the password of the user you've try to log in to NWDI (it's initial, or outdated or whatever!!!) Try to log in with the user and you'll see what's wrong.

  • NWDI Configuration Update Problems in CMS

    Hi,
        We have done a heterogeneous migration of JDI from AIX to HPUX.
       I started doing the post steps for JDI. I could successfully change the configuration parameters in the DTR (for name server, repository) and CBS (in visual Admin) to reflect the new target system names.
      But when i tried to edit the configuration in the CMS, like i edited the CMS URL in the "Domain Data" and clicked "Save Domain". It could save successfully. But when i tried to do "Update CMS" it gave me the following error.
         "DTR (URL http://<old JDI host name>:54000/dtr) server exception: Communication problems occured with repository "http://<old JDI host name>:54000/dtr". Unable to open connection to host "<old JDI host name>:54000". The IP address of the host could not be resolved. Maybe the URL is misspelled or the host does no longer exist.."
      Also in the "Track Data" when im trying to change DTR and CBS URL's to reflect the new target systems, it is giving the following error "Unexpected error; inform your system administrator: communication error: connection/authorization problem to host http://<old host name of EP>:54000 user: administrator
      Im not sure whereelse should i change the URL's of these, so that i dont get any error when updating the URL's in CMS.
       Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks
    Sourav

    Hi Jithendra,
          This is a bug in JDI. you need to open a ticket with SAP provding connection to your database so that SAP can login and do changes in the DB level. The sap note for this problem has not been released yet so you need to open a ticket with them.
         Thanks

  • CMS SC Synch issue

    Hello All,
    In NWDI the SC's are showing grey traffic light.
    We have tried various options such as "Update CMS" and "synchorize SC Dependencies" button.
    The traffic light becomes green temporarily but again greys out .
    Any suggestions on what could be going wrong and how we could correct this would be really helpful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Deepthi.

    Hi,
    Check the following:
    1. whether dependent SCs are defined properly in  the 'Usage Dependencies' of the SC in the SLD.
    2. SLD connection is working.
    3. If above two are fine, then 'Update CMS'.
    4. Now, drop the already added SC and look for your SC in the 'Software Components for Development' table and add it by selecting from 'Add Software Component' dialog box.

    I've scanned the postings and can't find an answer to this. How do I update Creative MediaSource Go! to a newer version? I was viewing the other updates available for my system, I saw that the CMS Go! version needed to be 3.0 or newer. I have .0.26.0 and SB Audigy 2, which came with my Dell in 2004. Hi Karol,
    After you create the SC you may have to Update the CMS so that it fetch the latest data from SLD. Just try using the Update CMS button and see if you are still not able to get the SC in the track.
