Updated new osx, been experiencing a lot of freezing

Question

Hi there, I recently updated my 2013 macbook pro software a couple days ago and since then have experienced nonstop freezing in all of my applications (including finder, when I try to force quit the applications). what could potentially be wrong/how do I figure out what's wrong and how can I potentially fix it?
