Updating external activity price in CJ20N

Hi SAP Gurus,
We're having a problem, When user tries to update the activity price on external activity in CJ20N of which the PS invoicing plan is maintained, the transaction crashes. User gets the following error message before being sent back to main menu: CN_PP_FPLA_INVOICE_VALUE_0000023456.
Can somebody guide?

Hi,
This could be due to program error. SAP Notes:674284, 501204 & 198542 are related to this error. You can read the notes take coorective actions based on which release you are in.

Activity prices in KP26 used for actual and plan in version 0

We plan activity prices via KP26 in version 0. We then plan activity consumption via KP06, and run the plan reconciliation via KPSI.
During the year, we need to update the activity prices used in actual activity allocation. This price also comes from version 0.
When we change the activity price, the planned amounts change also. We are looking for a way to maintain a separate price for actual activity allocation.

For other's benefit, these are the steps I took to make this work:
1) set the "Purely Iter. Price" indicator in plan version 0
2) import planning layout 1-N01 from client 000 (OBKF)
3) add planning area "Cctr: Manual actual prices" to planning layout SAPALL (KP34)
4) add planning layout 1-N01 to planner profile SAPALL (KP34)
5) create and run custom program from note 551309 to add cost element field to the input screen in KBK6 (SE38)
6) transport planning layout for planning area "Cctr: Manual actual prices" (OKEX)
Now we can plan a price in KP26, and maintain a different price in KBK6 which is used in the actual activity allocation.

Activity price not getting updated at Production order

Hi All,
I have made activity dependent planning at cost centre and calculated the activity rate. The activity rate is showing correctly for the cost centre in KP26, but while confirming the production order (CO11N) the the activity price is not getting updated in production order. But material price is getting properly updated at production order.
Plz help me in identifying the possible areas of mistakes.

Hi,
Please check the Period for which you have created the ht activity price is same as the period in the conformation. In the workcenter in which you are confirming please check whether the activities are assigned to the work center.

Actual activity price not updating in production order

Hi All,
I am facing one problem, that actual price for activities are not updating in production order while plan price are updated. Earlier both plan and activity prices were getting upadated but now actual price is not updating for any material. I have tried at the same material also but it is not getting updated. Actual hours are updated in confirmation of production order but not price. If somebody could suggest the reason it will be great.

Error while updating the Actual Activity Prices

Dear All,
While calculating the Actual activity prices under test run (KSII) ,the system is calculating the prices correctly, but when I run the KSII after deselecting the test run ,the system is giving the following error message:
Cost center EE04301000 activity type RWKHRS: costs exist although activity 0
Message no. KP250
Diagnosis
The plan or actual activity for cost center EE04301000, activity type RWKHRS is 0. However, costs were planned or posted in period(s) 1.
System Response
The SAP System cannot calculate activity prices for this activity type as this would involve division by zero. The plan or actual costs are ignored in activity price calculation.
Procedure
Check activity price calculation in planning for activity type RWKHRS in cost center EE04301000 and the costs planned for period(s) 1.

For activity price calculation in actual, actual costs are allocated onto the activity type through splitting, although no activity posting was made on this activity type.
The scenario is that we have 4 activity types and planned costs/activity qty for all the 4 activities and calculated plan prices and posted actual costs for all the four types. Production Order created and confirmed only 3 activities out of 4 activities. And when we calculate the Actual prices for all 4 activities the system is giving the above said message.
Please suggest as how to solve this issue.

The error is very much justified.. If your actual qty for any act type is zero, then division by zero would yield an error during activity price calculatoin
You need to ignore this error, if the zero qty for 4th act type is justified.. System would post act price for remaining 3 act types...

External activity deletion error

Hi,
I am having a problem in deleting externa services associated with control key PS04.
I have created PR thru CJ20N and pulled service from contract.Now BOQ contract is updated.How can I delete these service
I m trying to delete PR thru me52n but Delete icon is not visible.

Your statement is really contradictory
You are saying you have created an internal activity with the OLA assigned,
1. Actually i have created internal activity and then i i pulled services from the outline agreements ok.
Again saying that you are trying to delete the external activity.
4.Started deleting externall processed objects.
can you please be clarified your self, what you are doing?
And for deleting the PR, you can simply delete the Service number line items at the external activities,
select the External activity, click on Detail button at the bottom, then click on Service button (don't click on PR button), then select the service numbers line times in the next screen.

Prevention of assignment of Purchase Order to External activity from ME21N

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to prevent account-assigning a purchase order or requisition to an external activity outside of PS, (CJ20N or CN22). The external activity will generate a purchase requisition when released from CJ20n or CN22.
If someone goes outside of PS in ME51N or ME21N, they can also create a purcahse requisition or P.O. and assign it to that same network activity.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

In MM Customizing go to Purchasing=> Account Assignment Categories
For Acc Assignment Assignment Category 'N' make the field 'Order' as display only.

How to calculate actual activity price using cost center balance

I have a problem,the case is that: i have two pro.order. orderA settlement to cost center M; orderB is a standard pro.ord,and the work center of orderB link to cost center M. when i calculate the actual activity revaluation.the activity price update the PRO.ordA and B,and the cost center is zero.
when i settlement the order A,the cost center M is not balance,so i must calculate the actual activity revaluation again.
now,i want to calculate the actual activity revaluation from the cost center's balance,not the Dredit balance.so how can i calculate the actual activity revaluation

did you also assigned the cost centre to splitting structure?
what is not working? the cost are equally distributed on both activities?

Fiscal year independent Activity price determination

Hi,
I have a question regarding the activity prices in Controlling.
We have a activity price plan(KP26 transaction) which is same every year. We do not want to copy this price every year . Is there a way to get this price for any year. Currently system gets the error KL023 'no control record for activity type controlling area/ cost center/ activity type in version 0000/ fiscal year activity planning /quantity planning.
Configuration also does not allow to eliminate/control KL type messages.
We have the activity type defined as follows.
1. Activity category as 1. manual entry manual allocation
2. Price category as 3. Determined manually

Hi,
Activity price in kp26 is used to valuate the production orders activity confirmation.
Plan Price in KP26 should be updated every month as per standard business practice.
If your business scenario does not necessiate the same than its fine.
Changing the same in the middle of the year is no such problem depending upon business scenario.

Update of Activity Consumption in the Quantity Structure = 2

We have gone live with Material Ledger with Update of Activity Consumption in the Quantity Structure not active.
Now we are planning to golive with Update of Activity consumption on 1st July 2010.
'2' = Update is active and relevant to price determination. Variances between the activity prices/process prices posted during the period and the actual price at the end of the period are adjusted subsequently.
Issue:
i)     We can only close ML for month of May 2010 on Sunday 4th.July 2010.
ii)     Between 1st to 4th. July, we will confirm process order relate to May 2010
iii)     Also between 1st. to 4th.July 2010, we confirm all process order relate to month of July 2010
Do we transport the Update of Activity Consumption 2 to Production Client:
On 1st.July 2010 but will it have impact on the ML closing for May done on 4th.July 2020
Or
On 4th.July 2010, after ML closing for May 2010 but we are not going to confirm the Process Order for the July 2010 between 1st. to 4th.July 2010. Only start confirming after the activation transport to L03 300.
Hope that you can advice what is the best option on when to transport.

I would recommend strongly to wait with the switch from 1 to 2 until after the June closing. The transactions posted for Juky in the meantime will not be lost.
The only thing to keep attention to is not to change planned activity prices after June 30, but to leave them fixed for the whole month of July. When setting 2 is active, ML will take care of that. With 1 it does not care, but you should refrain from that.
So from your alternatives:

KSII actual activity price issue

Hi All
I want system to calculate the activity price automatically after running KSII and should update it in KBK6 so that i can revaluate production order with actuals by running MFN1. Now i have done all the configuration required and my plan cost are getting updated after i run KSPI and same is getting update in KP26 and are also showing in KBK6 under plan cost nd can be seen in Cost center reports under plan cost. Problem is with actuals
I have been reading the forum regarding this issue and all the inputs given by experts is been checked but i think iam missing something either a step in calculating the actuals or may be some tick in configurations
Kindly let me know the solution for an issue iam facing .

I had already done the setting in OKEW and all splitting structure configuration. Base on that my plan cost is been distrbuted in two different activities. Planning has been done in KP06 and after doing that only i ran the transaction KSPI.
But ya you got a point thats what iam feeling that there is some thing missing in my config settings which i already mentioned in my earlier posts.
What is the prb iam not able to recoganize kindly if you can give me some detailed information what could be the reason?
For your information i would like to tell briefly what i did so far:
1. IN configuration i defined splitting structure Say T1
2. then by selecting T1 i cllicked in assignment and assigned splitting rule say T10
3. then by selecting T10 i clicked on "Selection for assingment" in this screen i mentioned only one cost element say 55000000 in "from value" "to value" and in activity type i mentioned "from" 106010 "to" 106030
4. then i clicked back icon and selected "Splitting rules" which is T10 in my case and method i mentioned is "12- Activiy quanitity" and checkd the box called "Wt- Weighting Indicator"
5. then i selected my rule T10 and clicked on "Selection for rules" and here i mentioned my version that is 0
6. then i did config setting "Assign Splitting Structure to Cost Centers" over here i assined this rule to only one cost center say 31010401 in parameters i selected version radio box and entered 0 there
These all what i did in configuration settings
Now after this i did planning KP06 entered my cost center that is 31010401 and only mentioned my cost element which is 55000000 with my activity type 106010 and 106030 here i didn't took 106020 in consideration. Now these values are coming in my cost center plan report on debit side and then i ran KSPI cost got splitted in both the activiy types in credit side in planning section of cost center but the prb is the same which you know Actuals are not coming
Kindly put a light what could be the reason?

Actual Activity Price Calculation

Dear Gurus,
1. I have defined activity type say "Power" through KL01
2. Maintained the planned price through KP26 for the cost center which is going to use this activity type. say
    cost center is "CCTR1"
3. Now there is something as actual activity price calculation at period end
4. When i execute through KSII i get the actual price which is the debited cost elements of the "CCTR1"
    divided by the Activity Type "Power"
5. The debit balance of cost elements in "CCTR1" is Rs 10000 and activity type consumed through process
    order is 200 KWH, hence the Actual price comes to Rs 50 Rs/KWH. While the planned price in KP26 is
    Rs 6/KWH
How logical is this....

Hi Amit,
Let me give some insight into the Activity price calculation and cost obsorption from Cost Center to Prodcution
1. Normally we incur the production cost through FI like Direct Labor, Power, Indirect Labour and other indirectct production overheads
2. This cost is posted to Production Cost Centers
3. Now this cost need to be obsorbed to product cost using either Activity costing through Routing or Overhead costing using costing sheet.
Since you question is for Activity costing, let us focus only on activity price and absorption to Product Cost
1. All the direct cost that can be tracked with certain reasonability with activity types can be absorbed through activity costing to product costing
2. Now in your case, take for example - the industry you are working is power intensive, then we can track the consumption of Power using activity costing
3. At the first instance, you need to forcast the activity quantities for the month (based on the production planning)
4. Based on this, you forecast the cost that would be incurred for the expected output
5. Calculate planned Acvitiy Unit price and update it in KP26. The updation can be manual or automatic (using Cost Splitting and Price Calculation in case of Activity independant cost planning)
6. For all the activity confirations to the production/process order, the cost obsorption will take place based on the planned price
Actual
7. The cost of the power will be booked in FI and posted to Production Cost Center for the month.
8. The actual Activity quantity will be booked from Production confirmation for the month
9. At the end of the month, you need to do the actual price calculation. This calculation will be based on the TOTAL COST BOOKED FOR THE MONTH TOWARDS POWER FOR THAT COST CENTER DEVIDED BY TOTAL QUANTITY CONSUMPTION RECORDED IN THE COST CENTER
10. Once this is done, You can revaluate the activity quanitities booked on each of the production order.
This is how the activity cost aborption will take place in product costing

After costing run I have updated Activity Price in KP26.. I want to see latest activity price in Cost component structure e.g. Labour Activity and Machine Activity..cost for this a) Is it require re-costing run? b) how can we calculate activity price? e.g. total base qty/confirmed qty *no.of hrs. can you please corret me my formula I have maintain in KP26 capcity 500 and fixed price 10. I am able to see machine hrs. 6 in Resource data..

Hi Srinu,
Do you mean that, just after changing the KP26 values, u are expecting the same to reflect in your cost component structure of materials? KP26 is only to plan the price of an activity type in a cost center. This will be applicable for the future period. ie when operations are confirmed in production orders in future, this costs will be absorbed to the production order.
Use S_ALR_87013611 or similar reports for actual activity prices(debits) and actual activity quantities. Former divided by later will give you the actual per unit activity price for the last period.( in case of 1 to 1 relationship between cost center and activity).

Activity Prices as Zero and in Decimal

Dear Gurus,
In accordance to our project requirement we need to fulfill the following two scenarios:-
a) Activity Prices as Zero.
b) Activity pricess in 4 decimal places, eg, 4.8989.
The problem is
a) When I put the activity price as 0, the system does not update it once I save it.
b) When I put the activity price as 4.8989 and I save it becomes 48.989

Please tell what do you mean by "the system does not update it once I save it". Does the field grey out?
Regarding point b) if you want to change the decimal places for currency you can do so in OY04 (its cross client). But it is not recommended as this will impact the existing records in your system and make all the current records invalid (due to change in decimal place). Can you please tell me which currency with four decimal places you are presently using?

Standar cost and product cost collector not updating the new price

Hi,
Created Standard cost estimate for one FG product and runned the product cost collector. Based on that consumption delivery everthing is made. Later on the work center and activity type changed in routing. Now i am trying to run the standard cost with new activity price (due to work center change) for the current period, system is showing only the previous rate(previous period) and it is not updating the new price becuase of already we have created the product cost collector.
Can any one give the suggestion for how to update the new price in standard cost as well as new price updation in product cost collector.

1. If the original cost estimate was run in the current month - Then you cant re-release cost estimate unless you reverse it from CKR1
If the cost estimate was of previous months - then you can definetely release it again
2. In cost collector, you need to manually cost it again using the Preliminary costing feature... Your cost coll will then show 2 cost estimates i.e. One from Original date to current date-1, and 2nd from Current date to 31.12.9999
