Updating records using a view
Hello,
I have two tables, ROAD and ROAD_PARSED. I have created a view ROAD_V that contains the fields from ROAD and ROAD_PARSED that I want to to update in ROAD.
CREATE VIEW ROAD_V AS SELECT A.ID, A.PREF, A.NAME, A.TYPE, A.DIR, B.PREF "BPREFIX", B.NAME "BNAME", B.TYPE "BTYPE", B.DIR "BDIR"
FROM ROAD A, ROAD_PARSED B
WHERE A.ID=B.ID;
Then I entered my update statement: UPDATE ROAD_V SET PREF=BPREFIX, NAME=BNAME, TYPE=BTYPE, DIR=BDIR;
I got this error: +"ORA-01779: cannot modify a column which maps to a non key-preserved table".+ ROAD has a spatial index on ID and ROAD_PARSED has a unique on ID, and there are not other unique fields in my table. How do I go about adding a unique index to ROAD when i have already indexed ID?
The only thing I can think of to work around it is to create a new field in ROAD, populate it with a sequence starting at 1 and assign a unique index to it, insert those values into ROAD_PARSED, and then run the update. This sounds unnecessary...but is it the right way?

I had found a feedback about trigger issue when restore SQL Database from a BACPAC file. Microsoft said the fixed will be available in the next major release of DacFx.

You can refer to the workarounds in the feedback. For example, if there is small amount of triggers on the database, you can try to remove the triggers and then recreate when restore from bacpac file.

Updated records using Dynamic FORMS_DDL
Hello everybody:
I need help for you guys. I'm working with Form9i and created a push button that when I press it, it should be updated some record depending of some conditions. I read that with dynamics FORMS_DDL, I can able to perform it, but when I put the below code in the âWHEN-BUTTON-PRESSEDâ trigger I get an âErrorâ that meaning that the forms was not success. You have a couple of options for updating or deleting using a Filter.
For deleting you can use an Entry Processor and the cache invokeAll method. Using "out of the box" Coherence you can use the ConditionalRemove entry processor. I'm a Java person so the C++ below might not be exactly right but you should get the idea.

Update Database using Materialized Views
I have a need to update the database across the firewall (on a partner network). Are there any issues/problems with this approach like performance, security,etc. I do not want to use dblinks.
Materialized views generally don't work too well without a database link between the machines-- in fact, they don't work at all. Oracle replication is built around the assumption that the databases involved can communicate with each other.

I´m using LabVIEW 8.5 & Database Connectivity toolset ver 1
When I try to update a record of a MS ACCESS 2003 with the SQL UPDATE TablenName SET field1=newvalue, field2=newvalue........WHERE condition=x, I get the error -2147217900 Exception occurred in Microsoft Jet DataBase engine: Sintax error in the instruction UPDATE.vi ComExec (8.5 bug Workaround)vi.
I ´dont think I have made a sintax error. If the field is an string I use the 'newvalue' following by a comma, in case of numeric field just the coma. For instance :
UPDATE TableName SET Name='John', Age=22,Hair='blond' WHERE height=1.85
I have discarded the reserved word´s problem, as I can insert records in the data base without any problem
Any idea to solve the problem

All, I have the above #table. You'll notice that there are duplicate values in "Cd" column i.e. "Cd=2".
If the values in ID, Val and Cd are same then, I want to update the "CodeFlag" column for those records with "Descrp" column of
the recent CYear. So, my "ToBeUpdated" column would have a value of "XYZ" for both the records where Cd=2 (Since, XYZ is the Descrp for CYear 2014(the latest one))
Also, if the values in ID and Val column are same but values in "Cd" is different, then ToBeUpdated = Descrp of that particular record. In my case the "ToBeUpdated" value for Cd=4 would be "ZZZ" and for Cd=5, it would be "VVV"

How to insert new record or update existing record using a complex view?
Currently I created this screen, there is no problems on display data, only on the update funtionality (it means insert / update / delete on the table for which the view is based on).
I have a table and a complex view in order to display the information from the table in a tabellar form (i.e up to 70 record in same "record" in the form, one for each item)
The view is like this
select a.f1, a.f2, get_value(a.pk1,1) a1, get_value(a.pk1,2) a2, get_value(a.pk1,3) a3............
from my_table a
where a.proj_id = user
and I want to permit the update of the field a1, a2, a3 in a multiposition canvas (tabellar).
I created an INSTEAD-OF trigger.
But it not work only in the form. I receive the error FRM-40654 when I try to change the existing value in the running form based on that view.
The view is woking and updatable using sql-plus.
If I query
select * from ALL_UPDATABLE_COLUMNS where table_name = 'SPV_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES';
in which 'SPV_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES' is the name of my view.
The question is: why if the view is updatable using SQL*Plus, is not updatable using Oracle Form 10gR2 ?

ThanksI removed on the datablock three items that are not showed, one of this is the Sysdate of update on the table for which the view is based.
I removed also the on-lock trigger and the update from the form is NOT working fine.
But for now I can still mantaing the ON-LOCK trigger.
Is not a priority to remove this trigger.
I still have the problem when the field is null, it mean that in the table SP_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES the record not exist.
I try now to explayn better.
SPV_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES is the name of the view.
SP_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES is the name of the table.

The field QTY_1, QTY_2.... QTY_6 are calculated with a customer stored function from the table SP_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES.

Instead using the Screen, at runtime, I receive the message:
FRM-40400 Transation Complete: 1 records applied and saved
but nothing is saved in the table SP_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES, and the view SPV_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES contain the calculated QTY_1 for the 'key', with null value.
Moreover If in the field QTY_1 (NUMBER) I put a character, instead a Number, just to see if the Screen attempts or not an UPDATE or AN INSERT, the message is FRM-40509: Oracle Error. UNABLE TO UPDATE RECORD. Why happen an Update and not an INSERT using the Screen?
In effect, the trial using SQL navigator of the following statement
insert into SPV_BOQ_BOM_POS_ACTIVITIES
(BOQ_HEADER_ID, BB_ID, BOQ_ID, PROJ_ID, ACT_GROUP_CODE, ACT_CODE_1, QTY_1)
values (5050, 5015, 30486, 'B39368', 'TEST', '0101010101010101', 'r');
I got Invalid Number and it's ok as answer from the database.

Use case for showing records in report view BAM based on version number
Hi,
I have a use case to update records based on version no. Let say I have a table or data object in BAM called 'Notes'. The Notes dataobject has three fields Id, Version, Description. The Notes data is displayed in a BAM report. I need to just display the latest version of the Notes. Say two records with one with Id as '124' and Version '4' and another with Id as '124' and version as '5'. The record related to version 5 should be dispalyed to user. How will I introduce this check in BAM reports for the latest version?

Edited by: user5108636 on 28/06/2010 16:47That you see you're prints only means that your method outta called. The code creates a new row, but never inserts the row into the rowset. Then you call execute query which loses any connection to the new route which is not part of the rowset.
First action would never to call insertRow(r1) on the view object.
If you change data this way, only the model layer knows about it, the ui can't know about this (one of the disadvantages of using plsql or this construct you try). You have to tell the view controller to update it's data to. For this you can execute the iterator in the binding layer and/or ppr the container showing your data.
Then I don't see any complicated plsql called do I question if a programmatic co is necessary.

Safari not reading Cyrillic as well as it used to
