I recently changed to wireless broadband with router could this be the problem.

  • Updating Video IPod Once Formatted for Windows, Now Using Mac

The subject pretty much explains it all. I'm trying to update my ipod to the latest software version, but when I attempt to update it, it says that it can't be updated because the Ipod is already formatted to Windows.
What should I do about this situation?
    Thanks

i do not set to auto update. I see no real point in having 2 hard drives full of the same music. I have backed up my MP3s on 4 dvd's. I like to keep my hard drive clear for other projects.
There are tools to bring the songs back off the ipod. Maybe I'll let that run over night. The TV shows I purchased were on the windows machine. Maybe they will be lost forever.
I guess I won't be installing this update anytime soon.

  • When I updated my iPod it's deleted some apps and all my photos and videos. Does anyone have any idea how to get them back? No so much the apps but mainly the photos? I backed my iPod up before I did it and it's still deleted?

When you update or restore an iPod via iTunes if synced medial like apps, music or synced photos are not in the iTunes library or not on the computer they will bot be on the iPod after update/restore since the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media.

  • I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1 and my Photos, Videos, contacts, music, App data, etc. was deleted. How can I all the data back?

I updated my iPod touch 4th generation from the latest iOS 4 update (i think maybe iOS 4.3.5 or something like that) to iOS 5.1.1. I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on a Windows XP Home Edition with the Service Pack 3 installed on the Windows XP (which I believe is the latest version). After updating, I unplugged my iPod from the computer. I saw that all my photos and videos were on my iPod, but there were no apps. A window popped up and told me to enter a passcode for my iPod. I entered a passcode. I then locked my iPod and entered what I thought to be the correct passcode, but my iPod remained unlocked. Desperate, I tried many passcodes with failure. After a while, my iPod became disabled for a long time. I decided to reset my iPod. After I reseted it, I chose to reset from my earlier back up. After reseting, my computer loaded on all my apps. But, when I started using my iPod, I realized all my photos, videos, music, app data (like game saves and high scores), etc. were gone! I have no idea what to do and I am very stressed about this! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET ALL MY STUFF BACK!!!!!!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

  • Ipod updater 2006-06-28 wiped my 60gb video ipod!

i just tried updating the firmware, and now im getting a message on my ipod saying "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore." i dont want to restore my ipod, i just wanted to update the software!! in windows the ipod is recognized as a drive letter, however when i click on it it says the drive is not formatted and asks if i want to format it. all i want is the firmware to be reinstalled. i saw this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303915 but i dont get any message box that asks if i want to update. and yes i have the newest version of itunes. when i try to run the updater again it just sits there forever and hangs. is there any sort of data recovery software i can use to get my songs back? i would like to just update it again without having to lose all my data. thanks.

Same thing happened to me (well my 30gb video iPod XD) And to a lot of people, apparently. My iPod has been comatose (I REFUSE to say it's dead) since Monday after the iPod Update. It's NEVER had problems before, so I lay the blame on the Update. It took forever to "update" (I had it in for hours) and when I finally dced it (prematurely apparently?? I don't know how leaving it in a couple hours and then taking it out makes it premature but okay iPod Updater...) it flashed to the Apple screen, which I then reset, and now it's in its comatose state
I have really nothing to contribute but to say it's happened to me, too XD I've had no luck at other threads so if anyone could help, it would be much appreciated Thanks

  • Lastest video ipod update - Problem

I have updated my 60g video ipod with the latest update and now my video ipod is not acting right. And will not see any videos that I have placed on my ipod from my library, meaning not bought from itunes, although those show up fine.
The video do show up, but as songs and not as videos.
Can I downgrade back to the prior version or do I have to wipe the ipod and reinstall? Not a happy choice...
Any one else have this issue? Not happy with this intrusive update by apple at all. This update show have come with more information than was presented.

You shouldn't have to downgrade. You're not providing much information here. You said that videos show up as songs, but not videos. I'm assuming you have these videos labeled as Music Videos, and not Movies. Right click on your non-Music Video videos, and choose Get Info. Choose the Options tab, and change the Video Kind to Movie.
    (Video Out doesn't exist.)

  • Video ipod update Freeze

having just installed the updated software for my video ipod,
when playing movies the picture freezes after 30 seconds or so
and then plays without sound! I have tried to reset numerous times but it does not help. music and picture files are fine though.

If you don't want to wade through all the responses, I'm copying here an extract of the answer I gave in that thread:
For those people like me who don't have firmware 1.0, I've modified the procedure a bit to suit our purpose. Here's what needs to be done for downgrading to firmware 1.0 without losing any data for new iPods that only come with firmware 1.1 Installation CD:
-Connect your iPod to your computer, ensures its updated via iTunes, then disconnect it from PC and exit iTunes
    - Download iPodSetup 2005-11-17 here:
    http://appldnld.m7z.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/ww/win/061-2225.20051128.PDW nw/iPodSetup.exe
    - Download iPodWizard here:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=153441
(download the release, top link of the two)
    - Uninstall iPod for Windows 2006-1-10 and reboot
    - Install iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-Connect your iPod to PC, make sure iTunes is not running
    -Launch iPodWizard.
-In the top left, click "Open Updater"
-Locate the iPod Updater.exe located in a sub-folder where you just installed iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-In the "Firmware:" drop down menu, select "5th Generation iPod (v.13.6.0)"
-Click "Load" just to the right of the drop down menu
-In the iPodWizard Essentials box on the right, it should say "Found 1 iPod drives:"
-Click "Downgrade Firmware". I'ts very quick.
    -Close the iPodWizard
-Again, make sure iTunes is not running
-From your Start menu, run iPod Updater 2005-11-17 and click "Update", not "Restore"
-Once the update is completed (it takes a few minutes), exit the iPod Updater and run it again to view the new firmware number. It should read:
"Software Version: 1.0 (up to date)"
-Launch iTunes. A pop up window will ask you if you want to download the new software version 1.1. Tick the box "Do not ask me again" and click "CANCEL"

  • Trying to update my ipod with videos/dvds

I have been on the internet looking for ways to put my dvds onto my ipod video.
I have managed to convert my a movie to mp4 format, and put it on my itunes, where it successfully plays.
However when I try to get the movie from itunes to my ipod video it doesn't update the movie.
In itunes, the movie appears in the video folder. When i right click the movie, "get info", "summary", it says "last played : not available"
I know it is possible to put dvds onto your ipod as a friend has successfully done it.
    Please can you help
    Thanks
    James

Try playing the movie in iTunes then updating the iPod sometimes this works. You can also try reinstalling iTunes and doing Apple's 5R's heres the link

  • "White Screen" error after most recent update 60 gig video iPod

I just received the most recent iPod updater software. I installed the updater and ran same. After the update process my 60 gig video iPOD cannot be recognized by my MAC G5. It has a "White Screen" and WILL NOT turn off! When I attempt a reset it simply gives me a 2 or 3 tone beep (I've never heard the tone before). The screen goes dark and it reboots to a white screen. I've re-installed updater and iTunes. I've switched USB ports. I've shut down the computer as well as rebooted same. I've allowed the iPOD to fully discharge (which happened quickly since the screen will not blank). When the unit is plugged into the USB port it charges and the white screen reappears. The updater now refuses to see the iPod so I cannot reset to factory defaults. Any ideas?
The idiots at Apple instituted a 24/7 chat tech support line for iPod shuttle owners. The guys like me who paid the big bucks for their best product get stuck out in the cold! Apple's whole tech support schtick is barely one step ahead of Dell's! The charge premium prices for their product and I like Apple a lot, but their demand that you be either an Apple Care customer or .MAC user to get even rudimentary support *****!

Ok, for all the others out who experience this problem....I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple. You have to go to their SECOND level of support to get an answer. But there is a fix.
If you have a white screen and the unit beep 3 times after a reboot here's what you need to do to fix the problem. Warning all you data will be lost. It will have to be downloaded via iTunes again!
Disconnect the iPod from the computer. Hold the Select and Menu button down for about 7 seconds to until you get a beep. Then hold down the Select and PLAY button for 10 seconds. This will put the unit in hard disk mode. Wait awhile until the Apple screen goes away and if you get a progress bar wait until it is gone.
At this point it will take some finagling, but you basically hook the iPod back up to the computer and do a RESTORE. The iPod should be recognized by iPod updater. Your data MAY still be in place, but if you do not do a restore to factory defaults with the updater you will get the white-screen-three-beeps-problem again.
Once you reboot into the language screen you can reconnect the iPOD and download your data from iTunes.
I complained this info SHOULD be posted online. They guy was very nice and agreed but said that engineering was still collecting data. He thought it was a dumb idea not to post online or allow the first level support guys to fix the problem.
Hey Apple...if you read this how about collecting data on your goddamned time and at your expense. You're the SOBs that collected $399 for the product! Ever seen the Comcast or AOL video on YOUTUBE? You guys could be next!

  • Updateing video's on ipod

I cant seem to make it so I can manualy update videos on my ipod when I go to the ipod options by right clicking my ipod icon...can someone help me?

You have to convert them to .mp4 format. Check out Videora iPod Converter.

  • Video iPod setting preferences, updating of videos

I have a 5th Gen. Video iPod which works very well but I'm a bit confused about using it with two computers and having downloads from Music Store coming into one or the other one. Plus under the Preferences area, Videos, it is checked 'Do not update videos' but it is greyed out so I can't even select auto update or manual =
    1. is the Videos choices greyed out because they're automatically set because this is a video ipod? it doesn't seem to let me choose whether to update or not
    2. I have a G5 and a 12" Powerbook and this iPod. Sometimes I'm finding things at the Music Store, including videos, on my G5, but I use the video iPod with the Powerbook. I've set up Music, Podcasts and Photos for manual updates. But what about Videos? I don't see a way to set that up and am concerned I'll download videos to the G5 but then not be able to move them to the video iPod, or the 12" PB which is my main video computer.
    Thanks.

You have a good suggestion ....so, because I set up
ViPod to get music and podcasts manually that will
control the video selections? I'll check out your
    explanation...seems logical. Much thanks.
Right. If you set your iPod to automatically update music, it will automatically update videos. However, as you use two different computers, that may not work for you.

  • Will there be an update for video iPods?

Looking at all the new iPods (nano & classic) there is a revamp to the interface. From what I can tell there is no difference between iPod with Video and iPod classic (Other than storage capacities and build materials). So hypothetically the new interface with coverflow should work on the iPods with video right? Does any one know if apple intends to have an update for video iPods?

Could I please make one thing clear, I am not prepared to turn this into a "slanging" match. The comments I made are valid comments and I have in no way insulted anybody in this discussion and would appreciate the same.
Firstly my comments of "I'm sure that Apple would be able to bring an update to 5th gen ipods to include the new and exciting features they have announced?" it is a simple comment, of which you have questioned in a manner to which I'm not sure; why you have done so? Are people out there saying it is in no way possible to roll back these great features to the 5th gen ipods? The human race have completed many amazing feets, but I guess cover flow on a 5th gen ipod is just a step too far?
Your crued observation of me using the word rhetorical is confusing to say the very least. A rhetorical question is one you already know the answer too, therefore it may be viewed as a question but is in fact a statement.
The third comment, i will agree with you upon. I have jumped to a conclusion, but, for what other reason would Apple not roll these exciting features onto the 5th gen ipods for, other than; they want you to buy the new ipods? Which in itself validates my point, I do not feel the need to own 2 large storage devices.
4th comment, "I would certainly never defend bad support. However, Apple has provided excellent support. Your whining is completely unrelated to support". Very constructive!
Finally the 5th comment. I will repeat my self:
"The human race have completed many amazing feets, but I guess cover flow on a 5th gen ipod is just a step too far?"
At no point have I confessed to being an ipod software creator, but I'm sure the lovely people at Apple could perform this feet........if they wanted too?
