Upgrade 9.2 with Work space manager to 10gr2

I have 9.2 database with oracle spatial and version enabled tables.
I have big problems to upgrade it to 10gr2 release.
Database upgrade assistant doesn't show any errors, but after upgrade i am not able
to run EXECUTE DBMS_WM.beginddl('table_name') on tables with geometry columns.
error is :

  • MacPro upgrade Xeon E5520 with X5680 heat management?????

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a "2010" 12-core MacPro that has been upgraded from the original E5520 to some X5680s.
The E5520 has 80W power consumption and the X5680 has 130W. Does this difference make any problems?
One opinion from an big Apple reseller was, that there could be problems with the heat management, becuase the X5680s have more power consumption and could overheat the system...?!?
As far as I know the X5675 was the last CPU that was originally build into the 2012 MacPro with 95W.
    Any thoughts?

It is reasonable to be cautious about this upgrade, since the dual-socket Mac Pro never shipped with CPUs greater than 95w TDP.
Others have installed 130w CPUs, so it is not unprecedented (W5590 is a popular choice because of affordability).
If you prefer not to take risks, then why not use the X5670s in your 2009 Mac Pro?  They are 95w, six-cores each, and a big performance improvement over what you've got in there now.
Don't you have a 2009 model?  I believe you mentioned that in another thread last week.  I hope I'm remembering correctly.

  • Error in connecting to Analytic work space manager

I get error of this kind. Please help
    oracle.express.idl.util.OlapiException: java.sql.SQLException: invalid name pattern: SYS.SQLOLAPIEXCEPTION

Most likely cause is incorrect application of a patchset. I would suggest you check that the patches you applied have been fully implemented. The patching process for OLAP usually involves fours steps.
    1) Use the Universal Installer to apply the updates to various Oracle database files
    2) Upgrade each database instance either using the GUI tools provided with the database or by using SQLPlus command line access to run the upgrade scripts within your instance. Note - Most people seem to miss this step for some reason.
    3) Use the OPatch utility to apply updated database files specific to OLAP
    4) Finally, run the stated OLAP admin sql scripts to each of your database instances to upgrade the OLAP packages, tables, related views etc. Note - Most people seem to miss this step as well for some reason.
    Hopefully, this helps.

  • LP24--Replenishment for Storage Types with Random Space Management

    Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the SAP Community Network so thanks in advance for all your input.  I've seen numerous posts that have improved my understanding of SAP already.
My question is about LP24.  I would like to know if there is a configuration that will prevent invalid replenishment requirements from being listed with other materials that require materials staging and conversion to transfer order.
Here is my problem.  We have thousands of materials, with valid replenishment indicators set that are either out of stock or all stock is in the forward pick storage type already.  However, I am required to click through all of the invalid requirements to assure that I pick up my valid requirements (materials with additional stock in an overstock storage type that can be replenished to a forward pick storage type).  Is there any way to filter the invalid requirements out?
Thanks again for all your insight.

  • Conversion to segment space management auto

My production databases is 10gR2, tablespaces are created locally managed with segment space management manual.
I wanted to change the segment space management to AUTO.
What is the best way to do this keeping the downtime minimal?
    Thanks
    S~

    A summary.
First, you cannot convert to ASSM. The only mechanism provided is to create a new tablespace with segment space management auto and then move all objects across from their existing tablespace. That is the only conversion mechanism provided or possible.
Second, you probably don't want to convert to ASSM anyway. It is designed to resolve the problem of massive contention for hot blocks on inserts -the kind of thing that will happen in a RAC. In a RAC, ASSM is extremely good news and you'd be mad NOT to use it. But if you don't have a RAC, then the chances of you needing ASSM are much less. If you find particular segments that suffer from insert contention (the symptoms are lots of buffer busy waits and ITL waits), then move those few segments that need the ASSM treatment into specially-created ASSM tablespaces. But don't go doing bulk converts of things that don't need it!
Third, if you are using OMF and ASM, then that's another situation in which ASSM makes a lot of sense: you're automating everything else anyway, so why not use the automatic 'freelists' mechanism, too?
Fourth, ASSM is about how a table knows where its next insert will take place. Extent Management Local/Uniform is all about how a tablespace allocates chunks of space to segments that need it. Completely different technologies.
Fifth, I would always use extent management auto, because do you know what are the "right" extent sizes to allocate to tables? No, I didn't think so. Oracle can work it out for you, though, with no detriment to you, your tables or your performance levels.
Sixth, back on the topic of ASSM, you might find this article useful:

  • Work Group Manager Reports and Logs

Mac Manager maintains logs and display current activity information somewhat different that Work Group Manager. With Mac Manager we are able to quickly report for Activity Log, Disk Usage, Connected Machines, Printer Quotas, Workgroup by User, Computers, Checked Out Computers and user activity.
How can we duplicate such a report with Work Group Manager?
We are a school district that is 88% Macintosh and miss the reports and logs feature in Mac Manager (10.3.9).
Hope to hear and find a solution to this challenge.

  • Major Bug in CS's color profiles, color management & working spaces

    Hi everyone:
First of all, thanks so much for taking the time to read and answer my questions!!! I am having a having a major bug in CS3's creative suite. The problem is the following:
    1. My settings are not sticking in Photoshop. Last night I selected Adobe RGB as my working space and this morning I woke up with it being Apple RGB.
    2. Bridge. When I select one of the thumbnails of my edited files I see the colors and levels changing before my very eyes. My theory is that profiles are being assigned to the images as I select them.
    3. Photoshop. Photoshop is assigning embedded profiles (of whatever working space is selected) into my files. I have the color management system on off so this should not be happening.
The only solutions that I came up with were to either uninstall and reinstall creative suite or upgrade to CS4. Does anyone have any other suggestions out there? I would greatly appreciate them.
    All my best,
    s_ke

Ok open Edit > Color Settings. Where it says "color management policies" make sure that all these are set to "preserve"
    • You seem to be saying that photoshop is automatically converting images, without opening them? -  this is impossible
    • Document profiles are readable at the bottom of the image window and choosing 'document profile'
If something strange is happening reset your Preferences, you will not need to reinstall
It may also be that your issue is to do with monitor profiles, or something similar but its impossible to tell from your description

  • Save to Web Color Shift with sRGB Working Space

I'm having a problem a lot of other people have, which is the color shift when saving to web or viewing my work in a web browser.
The solutions I've found in the past have been to simply make sure my working color space in Photoshop is sRGB and that my files are being built with that profile as well. I'm under the impression that sRGB is essentially the same color space as is used in a web browser, and therefore my work should look identical in both Photoshop and a web browser.
So why am I still getting a color shift? Everything in a browser appears darker and with more contrast, as though the colors have been pumped up a bit.
My monitor color has been calibrated with a Spyder 3 Pro and I'm using the profile it created for me as my OS X color profile. Thinking the shift may be related to my monitor profile, I tried switching to other profiles, but I still get a color shift in every single one.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

sRGB based on capabilities and trends of development (circa late 1990s) for commodities CRT computers displays. sRGB per se has nothing to do with web browsers. The reason it has become associated with the web is the assumption that most web users are looking at content using a commodities CRT monitor using Microsoft Windows.
It should be obvious that the use of a standard of some kind for display is better than none if there is to be any trend towards predictability of image display. Today, in commodities computing, that standard is sRGB: neutral color where R=B=G, and a gray ramp and primaries typical of the electron gun and phosphors used in CRT displays perfected for use in color television. It just so happens that this coding is rather will suited to get good value out of a minimum numbers of bits for color representation (e.g, 8 bits per channel 24 bit color)
Web browsers in and of themselves don't have a color space. A few, such as Mac Safari, use the ICC color management capabilities of the system, and these display compensated color just like Photoshop does: if the image is tagged with an ICC profile, compensation will be applied in the browser window. But for the vast majority of computers and users, browser color is monitor color, and it's easier and most reliable for designers to just assume sRGB because it's the space that's the best approximation of the internet at large.
You work usually will not look identical in Photoshop and a web browser (assuming that the browser does not or cannot do color management) because Photoshop is always soft proofing the working space onto the display. It is this quality that leads you to see parity between photoshop and the web browser when you choose you monitor profile as the working space: the soft proof produces no compensation.
But while this fixes up your local experience it is -not- the solution because this projects your monitor characteristics into the image when you share it. For example, if your monitor has a lumpy non-linear tonal response and you correct image shadows or saturation for a certain look the image data will code your monitor response as well as your intentions for the image appearance. Others will see the combination of your correction for your monitor response mapped over their monitor response, in fact they will see an inversion of your monitor's response coded in the image, and to whatever extent your monitor deviates from the norm is the extent which at the very least others displays of the images you correct will deviate from your intentioned look.
The answer to your problem--and this may surprise you--is to tolerate and appreciate the difference in display between photoshop's rendition of color and your browsers. Photoshop is showing your image more truly--within certain significant local limits--in terms of your working space than your web browser. By choosing an appropriate working space, and for the web it should be sRGB, and by profiling your monitor as you have, you are ensuring your images are normalized to current standards for web presentation. Others may still see crap, but it's most likely their problem and if they don't want to do anything about it that's their problem, not yours.
There are a wide variety of reasons why a properly calibrated monitor will not match a working space which the soft proof cannot overcome. A monitor gamut larger than sRGB is not one of them. Photoshop will properly display sRGB data if the display profile properly characterizes the larger gamut display. This leads to questions about the effects of monitor quality on workflow. Maybe the most important of these is "How do I know my Spyder has properly calibrated my display!!!" But this is a topic for a whole 'nother thread.
Where I run into trouble is when trying to make visual color comparisons during web design between my photoshop website mockup and a published site. I get confused and try to make color picker style matches by eye rather than by the numbers because I forget my web browser is not color managed. Sometimes I forget how all the parts play together and get confused and disoriented, then I make compounding mistakes. Then I start blaming my tools. Pity me.

  • Working Space for Color Management...

    Hello,
I'm working on a project with a series of still, all of which contain embedded sRGB color profiles (as these images were originally used for a web-based job). This video project will eventually go onto a SD DVD to be displayed on a SD NTSC television. When choosing my working space (for color management), should I use SDTV NTSC (or should I use sRGB and then specify SDTV NTSC in my output setting upon rendering? I'm leaning towards SDTV NTSC as my working space, but since I'm coming at this from a print background in color management, I'm wondering if someone could lend some advice?
Also, what should I select for these options (under Color Settings in Project Settings)...ie. should I or shouldn't I have them checked...
    - Linearize Working Space
    - Blend Colors Using 1.0 Gamma
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

    > It didn't really touch on "Blend Colors Using 1.0 Gamma" though would I want this checked?
Generally, yes. It helps avoid problems that can occur with inter-layer blending.
    > And pretty sure, for what I'm doing, I wouldn't want "Linearize Working Space" checked.
Also correct, unless you intend to work in a 16- or 32-bpc mode.

  • Report Parameters with a space between, not working

I have a problem with a report in SQL Server 2012 that uses cascading multi-valued parameters. I am using AdventureWorks2012DW as a sample, and all parameters work except for one with a space in this case its SalesTerritoryCountry and the parameter is 'North
America' which has a space. How do i get it to return data? here is my Stpre procedure for you to try.
    Create Procedure dbo.uspReportParams
    @Region varchar(15),
    @Country varchar(60)
    AS
    BEGIN
    SET NOCOUNT ON
Select st.SalesTerritoryGroup [Region], st.SalesTerritoryCountry [Country], r.BusinessType [Business Type], SUM(rs.SalesAmount) [Sales Amount]
from DimReseller r join FactResellerSales rs on r.ResellerKey = rs.ResellerKey
    join DimDate d on rs.OrderDateKey = d.DateKey
    join DimProduct p on p.ProductKey = rs.ProductKey
    join DimSalesTerritory st on rs.SalesTerritoryKey = st.SalesTerritoryKey
    where st.SalesTerritoryGroup IN (Select [splitdata] FROM dbo.fnSplitString (@Region,', '))
    --AND st.SalesTerritoryGroup <> 'NA'
    AND st.SalesTerritoryCountry IN (Select [splitdata] FROM dbo.fnSplitString (@Country,', '))
    Group by st.SalesTerritoryGroup, st.SalesTerritoryCountry, r.BusinessType
    END
IF i check it with other parameters it works except for North America
    EXEC dbo.uspReportParams @Region = 'Europe,Pacific,North America', @Country = 'Germany,France,United Kingdom,Australia,Canada'

Thanxs for the reply i will explain more. The Issue is on parameter region which is 'North America', it should return data for United states and Canada.... the spaces for the SalesTerritoryCountry dont matter but for the SalesTerritoryGroup.
I have made another discovery which has puzzled me more: If i place paramater 'North America' as the first value when executing the procedure, everything works well but if i place it elsewher ther is a problem here is a example to show what im saying
    EXEC dbo.uspReportParams @Region = 'North America,Europe,Pacific', @Country = 'Germany,France,United Kingdom,Australia,Canada'
The results for Region 'North America' and Countries 'United States' + 'Canada' Show
    Its working as expected
You're using an AND condition in the filter so it will only return the countries which are included in @Country filter as it is the lower level
I guess may be what you want is this??
    Create Procedure dbo.uspReportParams
    @Region varchar(15),
    @Country varchar(60)
    AS
    BEGIN
    SET NOCOUNT ON
Select st.SalesTerritoryGroup [Region], st.SalesTerritoryCountry [Country], r.BusinessType [Business Type], SUM(rs.SalesAmount) [Sales Amount]
from DimReseller r join FactResellerSales rs on r.ResellerKey = rs.ResellerKey
    join DimDate d on rs.OrderDateKey = d.DateKey
    join DimProduct p on p.ProductKey = rs.ProductKey
    join DimSalesTerritory st on rs.SalesTerritoryKey = st.SalesTerritoryKey
    where (st.SalesTerritoryGroup IN (Select [splitdata] FROM dbo.fnSplitString (@Region,', '))
    --AND st.SalesTerritoryGroup <> 'NA'
    OR st.SalesTerritoryCountry IN (Select [splitdata] FROM dbo.fnSplitString (@Country,', ')))
    Group by st.SalesTerritoryGroup, st.SalesTerritoryCountry, r.BusinessType
    END

  • List Manager based on LOV returning values with missing spaces

I am using a list manager based on a pop up lov, in this case it is a list of supplier names. When the pop-up list is shown the values are displayed as expected, with all spaces intact. When I click the supplier name, and then click Add to add to the list manager, all spaces in the supplier name are lost.
The field I'm pulling is a varchar2 in the db. Here's the sql behind the lov:
select '(All Suppliers)' d, '(All Suppliers)' r from rep_gy_spend
    union
    select distinct supplier_name d, supplier_name r
    from rep_gy_spend
    order by 1
Any ideas on why the spaces are lost?

DJ - There is a javascript function on the page that does that. View page source and you'll see it. You could override it with your own and change that behavior and you could prevent it from upper-casing the returned values as well by using different onclick javascript on the add button.

  • [Gnome] freeze work spaces view in combination with beamer presentatio

    Hello guys,
I often have to hold speeches using a presentation for my own support. What I'm still missing is a possibility to freeze the display. Means my presentation is on work space 1 and when I then switch to space 2 the audience should still see the presentation.
    Is something like that achievable?
    Best regards
    orschiro

Exactly. I saw this feature on a Macbook where the lecture had his Keynote presentation open and then switched to another work space where he could run other programs while the beamer still displayed the presentation.
But nice idea with the second X session. I'll try that out if there's no other option.
