Upgrade ARD 10 users to Unlimited

Hi,
I've been using ARD for years and in this time we've expanded from 8 to many computers. So I'd love to get the unlimited users version of ARD: is there an upgrade possibility or do I have to pay the full amount again?

Sorry, but there is no upgrade from the 10-user to Unlimited-user versions. You'll have to purchase a full new copy of the Unlimited-user version. Perhaps you can find someone to purchase the 10- user version from you.

How to upgrade ARD 10-license to unlimited license

I couldn't find anything about upgrading my customer's existing 10-Client ARD 2 license to an unlimited license. Neither the AppleStore shows me a matching product nor could I find anything about this at the ARD product pages, help or here in Discussions.
Do I really need to buy another unlimited license?
ARD 10: 299,- $
ARD Unlimited: 499,- $
Difference: 200,- $ Where can I buy that license only upgrade? My customer doesn't really want to spend another 500 bucks since he already invested 300.

Sorry, but there's no upgrade path. You will indeed have to purchase a full new license. If you call the Apple Store, you may (as a couple have reported) be able to negotiate a discount, but it won't be anywhere near the cost of the 10-user license, and you may be able to do as well at an Apple dealer.

ARD Admin 3.3 Unlimited in Lion

I have installen on a new HD Lion 10.7.1 and the ARD Admin 3.3 Unlimited (ORIGINAL 499.00 Euro) is not possible to install it

My Apple Higher Ed Tech rep got back to me with the answer and he did it quite quickly. If any others on this list have a problem, I will highly reccomend using your tech rep if you have a large enough user base to have a tech rep. My guy has saved me from a number of headaches in the past few months.
The answer he provided is :

I took a look and it gives the procedure needed to accomplish the install.
Symptoms
The Apple Remote Desktop 3.3 installer may report that it requires Mac OS X v10.6 when used with OS X Lion.

Resolution
Follow these steps to install Apple Remote Desktop and update it to a Lion-compatible version.
Copy the Apple Remote Desktop Installer from the Installation disc to the desktop.
Hold the Control key and click on the Installer icon.
In the contextual menu that appears, choose Show Package Contents.
In the package contents, navigate to Contents/Installers.
Control-click on RemoteDesktopAdmin.pkg and choose Show Package Contents.
In the package contents, double-click the Archive.pax.gz file to expand it.
In the expanded archive, navigate to Archive/Applications/ and drag Remote Desktop to your Applications folder.
Immediately run Software Update to update Remote Desktop to the latest version.

Upgrading a standard user to administrator

Is it possible to upgrade a standard user to administrator status or to change administrators from one user to another? I bought a used MacBook running Yosemite and need to make myself the admin. Thanks for any suggestions.

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, insert its original disk, restart with the C key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

Im signed into my account on Forms Central, but it is still telling me I only have one free form and need to upgrade to the annual Adobe Xl Pro package to get unlimited forms / responses. This isnt included in my monthly membership price for CC?

FormsCentral won't help with flattening a form. You could set up the form in Acrobat so that the fields are set to read-only, using JavaScript. Not quite the same as flattening but it's the best Reader can do.
Note that when Reader is used to e-sign a document, it gets flattened, but this won't be possible if you need to Reader-enable the form and under certain other conditions.

ILIFE Upgrade from single user to family?

I have Ilife on my Mac but now my wife wants it for hers. Can I purchase an upgrade from single user to family (5) users. Thankfully I got the family package for IWork 09'.

Are all user automatically upgraded when on user upgrades software

We have 4 different users on our computer with separate log ins. I would like to upgrade to Yosemite. If I do the upgrade on my user log in, does it automatically upgrade for the other users or can they choose not to upgrade under their log in?

Only one upgrade for one machine. All your users will be using Yosemite if you upgrade.

After 10.1.2 upgrade, Create/Modify User/Group requires re-authentication

I have 3 systems - 2 were 9.x (AS10g R1) upgraded to 10.x (AS10g R2), 1 was installed as 10.x. On the two upgraded systems, after a Portal user logs in (with administration privileges), navigates to the "Administration" tab and clicks either the "Create New User", "Modify User", "Create New Group" or "Modify Group" links, they are prompted for a username and password again. On the system installed with 10.x, this does not happen. Submitted iTar was unresolved. Has anyone seen this before?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Office 2013 upgrade so that users keep individual properties

How do I set up an Office 2013 upgrade msi so that the individual user can keep their current properties? The msi will be sitting in a Skydrive account.
I need to upgrade about 25 remote users to Office 2013. These users are in different locations, mixture if window 7 and 8 machines. All machines are currently running Office 2010.
We are VL holders so I can create a msi file but after running two test upgrades most of the individual user properties (default templates, outlook settings) are not being kept. It looks like a new install.
Any help is appreciated.

I would recommend using USMT 5 for Office 2013.

ARD Hidden Users

For some reason, recently, ARD connections no longer work for hidden users. Before I had no problem accessing machines remotely as a hidden user (a user with a UID < 500 - doesn't show up in pref panes or login window). I manage a wide deployment of Macs and labs and having a user hidden is necessary in most situations.
If I unhide the user it regains all ARD access privileges and has the ability to authenticate for ARD. If I hide the user (as well as it no longer showing up in the Acc. Privs. Pane) it no longer authenticates for ARD.
Has anyone else experienced this or have a workaround/solution besides un-hiding the user I want to administer ARD on the client machine?

Wasn't given option to "upgrade" and lost user data

I was trying to upgrade from 10.2.9 to 10.3 yesterday and during the install I didn't see an option to "upgrade" or save the data that was already on the computer (iMac G3). After the install I see that there are no users except the account I was asked to create during the install. So I guess it did a clean install and deleted all the data from the drive? But then I notice that the trash has files in it from before the install. Nothing I'm looking for, but that tells me that some things didn't get removed altogether.
So I'm wondering if there is a way for me to recover the users data that was on here before I did the install.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. : )

If you are upgrading to 10.3 from a previous major version the Upgrade option is usually the default. If you simply clicked along the upgrade install is performed (unless there is some problem.) Are you sure the user accounts have been deleted? Are you sure you didn't do an Archive and Install? If so, check in the root directory of the hard drive for a Previous System Folder.

Final Cut Studio application available as a separate upgrade for FCE users?

Hi, if you need/use all the tools in Final Cut Studio 2, the price can't be beat I guess, but for a FCE 4 user, the 'upgrade' to FCS is rather big. Wouldn't it be nice for other FCE users to be able to buy e.g. Color and Motion separately? I would buy them. Just interested in other FCE users opinion.

I feel your pain, for some reason we're forced in some cases to buy bundles of apps , rather than that one peace we actually need, In my humbles opinion thats not doing good business. To me it makes about as much sense, as being forced to buy a notebook, pencil and crayon when all you really needed was a pen...

Warning 10.4.3 upgrade delete System & Users Squirrelmail config files.

Just installed the 10.4.3 upgrade.
After the upgrade was done I noticed WebMail settings was back to default.
So I had to set everything up again.
But what makes me angry is all the users preferences has been reset aswell.
I haven't read anything about this before I upgraded.
Makes me angry!

Single use licence...upgrade to multi user..?

My wife unexpectedly bought me a new imac for christmas...yippeeee..!!! the problem is it came with leopard (on disk, not pre-installed)..which was great, but I want to upgrade my other 2 macs (imacG5, ibookG4) to leopard, how do I do this, do I need to buy a family pack (£129) or can I just pay the difference from single user to family (£44)...or can I just install it on them anyway....?

That copy of Leopard is for that machine.
I do not know how Apple would go about handling that specific licensing question. The simple answer would be to tell you to buy the family pack.
As far as purchasing a specific license that would allow you to use that physical Leopard disk to install on your other machines that sounds like a question for Apple. Perhaps contacting them will be helpful: Contacting Apple for Support and Service

Hung Mavericks upgrade lost all users

Upgrading my Mini from 10.8.4 hung for about 6 hours with a nearly-full progress bar, so I tried to just quit and restart. That beachballed, so I finally did a force shutdown. When I restarted, I had to walk through the initial setup, creating a new user. I can now only log in as that user - while my other /Users folders are there, I do not see these users on the login screen.
Anything I should do before setting up a Genius appointment?
