Upgrade driver?

I am testing an upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1. I see there is a step called upgrade driver. What is this? Should it be installed on R12 after laying down the file system using rapidwiz? Also there appears to be a patch 6678700. Is this the upgrade driver? When should this patch be run?
After laying down the filesystem, if I install any patch, the DB and Listener should be brought up, right? The configuring of the Applications using rapidwiz will come after this, correct? Thanks.

Should it be installed on R12 after laying down the file system using rapidwiz? No, it comes with R12 software when you lay it down.

This is the ugrade driver that you will run after you lay down R12 software -- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e16342/T527285T527419.htm#5236325
After laying down the filesystem, if I install any patch, the DB and Listener should be brought up, right?The database and the database listener should be up when you lay down the software and run the upgrade driver (or apply any patches as part of the upgrade).
The configuring of the Applications using rapidwiz will come after this, correct? Thanks.Correct.
Please see the upgrade manual for all the steps/details -- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e16342/toc.htm

  • Installing 12.1.1 upgrade driver, sess disconnected & now adpatch fails

    We are upgrading EBS HRMS QA instance from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 in hrdev (10.37.2.4) machine.
    =================================================
    I had a telnet session from my desktop machine to the AIX 6.1 server machine.
    While Installing 12.1.1 upgrade driver, i.e.
    $ su – applqa
    $ cd /u06_qa/oracle/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/patch/115/driver
    $ adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
    This created adpatch_u6678700_12Jun2010.log (attached)
    When we were in the following stage, my session with remote machine got down as my machine power went down.
         Worker 1 running adobjcmp.sql
    This resulted in abnormal termination of adpatch process on the server as you are well aware that it runs as active session from your putty console.
    Once I recreated new telnet session with 10.37.2.4, I rerun adpatch like following:
    $ su – applqa
    $ cd /u06_qa/oracle/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/patch/115/driver
    $ adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
    Once I restarted adpatch session, it said, do you want to continue your old session, I said yes, and through adctrl I stopped worker 1 (running adobjcmp.sql), even though there was no such process at OS level.

    Hi Everyone,

    ThanksYou cannot upgrade 10.1.3.x ORACLE_HOME after you lay down R12 software and before the actual upgrade since your instance should be on R12 to apply the patches in (Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 454811.1]). So, upgrade to 12.1.1/12.1.3 then upgrade the 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME to the latest patchset (10.1.3.5).

  • Upgraded drive, now Lightroom can't find my main catalogue

    I have a separate data drive in my system. When it filled up, I upgraded to a larger data drive. The person who set it up for me transferred all the dotage to the new drive. Now Lightproof can't find my main catalogue although for some reason my collections are listed.
    Message was edited by moderator: fixed formatting and title, but not spelling

    If you know where the catalog is located you can browse to that folder and double-click on the catalog. Lightroom will open the catalog and you can continue.

  • Tiger to Snow Leopard upgrade/drive reformat/data backup

    I know that, technically, upgrading from v10.4.11 to v10.6.3 shouldn't cause the loss of any data or files, but obviously I'm going to back up everything any way. I have an external hard drive but I don't think it's got enough space to copy all of my uncompressed stuff to completely. Right now, my plan is to move the data from Mac to external HD to PC where I have enough space to store everything. But, I was reading about making a disk image, which leads me to my first question:
    1. If I'm planning to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6, is creating a disk image even a viable option? Or would that reverse the upgrade completely?
    Another thing I wanted to do, since I'm installing the upgrade, is to reformat the hard drive of my MacBook. I purchased the Mac Box Set 10.6.3-INT product #MC680Z/A.
    2. Is this upgrade something that I will have to install while my MacBook is in its current state (v10.4.11, no reformatted HD)? Or, if I go into Disk Utility and erase/reformat the drive prior to 10.6.3 install, will I be able to install snow leopard from the box set I ordered as I would be able to reinstall Tiger from the Install disks that came with the computer?
    Thanks!

    I strongly suggest getting another ext HD, large enough to accommodate all your stuff and put a bootable backup/clone onto it before proceeding. Then, boot into it and ensure that it works and looks like the original. There's no reason to erase and reformat the MB's HD. That's so windoze-centric. Forget it. Then you can install on either. Leave disk images to banish from your head, they're basically useless in this scenario. With the boxed set, install Snow Leopard, install iLife and iWork, run Software Update, repair permissions, and restart. After running for a week or so, update the backup/clone with your new OS.

  • Mac Pro - Upgrade Drives: Clone or TM restore?

    I have a MacPro and I'd like to upgrade 2 drives. Neither one is a boot drive. I was wondering if its better to restore them from TM or just clone them? Does cloning a drive make TM see it as a new drive? Does restoring a drive to a different capacity drive alter the way TM reacts to it?
    Also, what happens to TM if you rename a drive after it has already been backed-up? Does TM see that as a new drive and back it up again?

    Doesn't really make much difference.
    Does cloning a drive make TM see it as a new drive?
    A new drive is a new drive. There's no practical way to fool TM into thinking it isn't. However you put the data on it, TM's next backup will be a full one. You may want to give the new one a slightly different name, to avoid the problem in #C7 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
    Does restoring a drive to a different capacity drive alter the way TM reacts to it?
    No.
    Also, what happens to TM if you rename a drive after it has already been backed-up? Does TM see that as a new drive and back it up again?
    No. That's the "flip side" of replacing a drive -- TM knows which is which.

  • Re-try: Partitioned '08 iMac, Win7, Radeon X1600, help with upgrading driver?

    I've been trying to use information found on other threads to update my driver but have had no success; my software and cpu are somewhat older than what I've been reading about. So.... I'm going to try this again before taking the thing to the local fixit shop (I don't want to do that...) And hopefully if there's someone in the same jam out there a search will bring them to this thread.
    Is there anyone out there that can give me a simple 'do this, do this, do this, and do this' for my particular setup? I've used DriverSweeper prior to attempting installs, and Mobility Modder to get around AMD's Catalyst installer problems re:bootcamp.
    I just wanna play my stupid GAMES, wah!

    I love my Mac. But I love my Windows-only games.

    The first part of your mcelog (the bit about " failed to prefill DIMM database from DMI data") strongly suggest one of the new RAM chips is defective. Start by simply putting the old one back in place and seeing if that helps. If it does, exchange the new faulty one with the seller for one that works. However, since you say yourself you aren't very tech savvy, it may be the case that you've simply purchased a RAM chip that is not compatible with your motherboard (although if both of the new chips are identical and the first one works, that may not be so).
    When deciding to upgrade all the most vital hardware components of a machine, it's best to do it one piece at a time, and reconfigure the operating system to account for the new hardware. Uninstall old drivers, install new ones, change any personal settings related to the old hardware, reboot, make sure everything's fine and then repeat the process for every other new piece of hardware. Replacing everything at once without ensuring it will all work together increases the chances problems like this immensely---the problem itself may be very simple, but you've undertaken so many changes in such a short time that finding out what the problem is in the first place can be very complicated.

  • Bad Cooling Athlon XP after upgrade driver

  • How to upgrade driver/firmware for 3rd party airport card?

    I have a Motorola WPCI810g wireless card that i have been using for over a year. Previously in Panther i tried to upgrade to Airport 4.2 to take advantage of WPA, but i ended up having to downgrade back to 4.1 because 4.2 left airport nonoperational. I have been on Tiger for quite a while and only recently noticed that i was automatically upgraded to Airport 4.2, however I do not have WPA as an encryption option (neither when joining, or creating a network). I can only assume it has to do with the firmware on the card but I cant figure out how to update it. I have tried to search these threads but the closest i can come is using Airport Admin Utility to upgrade the firmware on a base station.
    About Airport is such:
    Airport
    427.1.1
    Component Versions:
    Airport Menu Extra: 427.1.1
    Airport Framework: 429.6.0
    Airport Extreme Driver: 405.1.0
    Airport Admin Utility: 420.5.0
    Airport Setup Assistant: 420.6.0
    Powermac G3 Rev2 B&W 400mhz, iBook G4 14" 1.33mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Pioneer DVR-109, Moto WPCI810G, Nano (1G) 4gb Black

    yup, and this is what it says:
    AirPort Card Information:
    Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
    Wireless Card Firmware Version: 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18)
    Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available
    in addition, I found that I can choose WPA as an encryption if i select 'other' as the network. What I would really like to do is create a network with WPA, since i use this desktop to connect my ibook to the internet. so far nothing...

  • P35 NEO-2 FR RAID 0 problem trying to upgrade drives and delete original RAID 0

    I upgraded my Samsung F1's 1TB to F's, problem is I forgot to divorce the two drives first before trying to install them in other systems. I wiped them clean but Intel's RAID software stamped them RAID 0 so when I tried to upgrade the drives nothing would show. The drive is recognizned on another board as a half of a RAID 0 as 1,80TB.
    My board beeeps around 5-6 times but not in a sequence followed by the regular boot sequence but will not boot. I wanted to hit CTRL F and delete the original RAID 0 partition with the original drives. I'm getting 3 green lights with one red. bottom green, second to bottom red and the rest green. Says in manual something about ISA booting. I'm very frustrated with myself, This time, I went full retard.
    How do I fix and what do the erractic beeps 5-6 before the normal beeping process mean?

    Are you trying to mirror 2 x 1TB or ?
    You can try clearing the RAID by doing a CMOS clearance.

  • Can't boot from an upgraded drive

    Hi, I upgraded a 12" PowerBook G4 to a 160GB HD. The machine was running 10.4.11 on its original 60GB drive.
    The new drive formatted correctly (extended), and I clean installed OS 10.4 without a hitch. But on reboot, after the apple logo, I ended up with a solid blue screen. Tried an update to 10.4.11, and got the same result. I zapped the PRAM and still can't boot -- though now I start up with vertical pinstripes behind the apple logo, then a black screen.
    I've checked the new drive thoroughly with Disk Utility and Tech Tool, and no problems there. SMART status fine, same power requirements, etc. Boot ROM version is 4.9 0f0, which should support a 160 GB drive, if I'm not mistaken, but can't find any info on the Support site as to what the correct Boot ROM version should be to run with 10.4.11.
    I can boot fine from the original drive via a firewire enclosure, so no hardware problems with the G4.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Okay, I don't know what happened, but it seems to be fixed now.
    I migrated the old system files over from the original drive (hadn't wanted to, as I assumed a clean install would simplify things). After doing that, I got a kernel panic screen at startup, which after a blank screen, seemed like progress.
    Then I zapped PRAM and reset the PMU again, and voila. Everything is fine. If anyone has any clue what could've been better about a crufty old System folder than a fresh clean install of the same version of the OS, I'd love to know.
