Upgrade Preparation: How to map applications, DTS packages, SSIS packages and reports to databases

Hi,
I am on the initial phase of upgrading SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2012. Right now, I'm taking as much inventory as I can from our current server, SQL Server 2005. If anyone could help me, how can I map the following:
Map applications to databases
Map DTS packages to databases
Map SSIS packages to databases
Map reports to databases

Some questions and suggestions:
How are we planning to upgrade whether in-place\parallel\others?
Will this be with HA[Clustered one] or with standalone?
Do you have time to do actual migration from now on and you will need to setup the environment for end to end testing for application validation so that all differences between application or system variables can be known before actual deployment?
Also, it will be good to check with Upgrade Advisor for below pointers preparedness too.
Map applications to databases: If you have already need to setup databases and logins for each and every applications then your mapping to database for applications will be lot easier and you will have less challenge.

There are few things you need to take care before executing exe from SSIS
1. The arguments etc expected by exe should be clearly defined inside execute process task
2. The Path where exe exists should be accessible to the account executing the package. SO you should grant account required permissions
3. If executing from a job make sure you either define a proxy account with required permissions and configure it to run the job or give service account all access required for executing exe

Upgraded computers - how do I remind Logic where the SFX and Instrument files are?

I just upgraded computers - how do I remind Logic where the SFX and Instrument files are located? On my old computer it was set up on an external drive, on this computer it's all internal, but how and where do I create the paths?

At a minimum, the creation of the TcpClient will need to change its parameter to the name of server you want to use:

How to store the forms and reports in database?
when i save a form in database it doesnt prompt with any message
and when i try to retrieve from the list it prompts me with a
message
can anyone suggest me the methods of storing the forms in the

I believe this will help you
To store forms & Reports in Database you need to run some
scripts which are shipped with Oracle
To install the SQL scripts:
Start the Oracle Installer and select Custom Installation or
Removal from the Oracle Developer Installation Options dialog
box.
Select Oracle Developer Database Tables from the Available
Products list.
Click Install.
Installing these scripts creates a Start menu item called Oracle
Developer R6.0 Admin and the associated submenu items Oracle
Developer Build, Oracle Developer Drop, Oracle Developer Grant,
and Oracle Developer Revoke. These menu items, when selected,
run a script or a series of scripts to perform database
administration tasks.
Note: I tried to store forms in the database by creating tables
but in forms fmb will store in database & fmx will store on
clients machine so you have to install fmx on all client machines
I tried to store fmx in database but..................!
If any body knows how to store FMX in database let me know.

Saving forms in the database is no longer supported I am afraid. We only support the fmx file based format now.

How to map Application Roles to Enterprise Roles

Hello,
i am having a problem with mapping Application Roles (from ADF Security) to the corresponding Enterprise Roles. I have already seen that it is possible with a tool called Enterprise Manager, but what if i do not have it??
Can i map the roles in WebLogic Server itself? I have searched for such ability and did not found it. Also have not seen any tutorial on the internet. Someone help me pls.
The version i am using is 12.1.2.0.0.

Application roles and permissions defined within WebCenter Portal are stored in its policy store and, consequently, apply to the WebCenter Portal application only.
Application Roles : Application roles control the level of access a user has to information and services in WebCenter Spaces. Specifically, application roles determine what a user can see and do in their personal space.
Application Permissions : Again every application role has specific, defined capabilities known as permissions. These permissions allow individuals to perform specific actions in their personal Portal.
Enterprise roles are different. Enterprise roles are stored within the application's identity store and do not imply any permissions within WebCenter Portal.
2. How and where do we create these 5 Application Roles in WC 11.1.1.8 version ?
You can create an application role from WebCenter Portal -> Portal Builder -> Administration tab -> Security -> Roles -> Create Role

3. Last, where and how do we MAP these Application Roles TO Enterprise Roles in 11.1.1.8 version ?
First, You can grant privileges to a specified group (say sales group) of users by granting Enterprise Roles in Enterprise LDAP.
Next, Create custom application roles (say Contributor, Moderator, UIDesigner, Application Specialist, etc) and assign the appropriate permissions as explained above.
Then, You can assign one or more Application Roles to a specified group (say sales group) from WebCenter Portal -> Portal Builder -> Administration tab -> Security -> users & Groups

How create map application?

Hi!
I'm working on a pre-study for a sales support application to run on a PDA containing maps, and displaying/entering sales data (customer data) on map.
So I would like a mapping application on the bottom and then add my own menues, actions to take when a user clicks on the map, my own data store, etc.
How is this done? Do I have to create my own application to handle vector maps or are there any commercial products to use that I could extend for my needs?
What map formats are required? I have looked at some suppliers who create either vector or image maps, guess vector maps are smaller and better?
On the datastore side, has anyone triede Sybase Ultralight? Or should I go for XML? (sales data might be for 50 000 customers/adresses on a PDA which I guess would be too slow for searching with limited memory/speed)

i just update my nokia ovi maps to 3.6 version from software update application from my nokia 5800 xpress music phone. after downloadin and installing new nokia ovi maps application i run it. at first time application request for waiting to loading but it was close automaticaly after 1min befor let me in.after that i run it several time but its close befor loading

How to run a silent configuration for Forms and Reports 11g ?

I've run a silent installation for Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 in Windows 7 64 bit.
I made it using a response file called install_only.rsp. Now I want to run the configuration also in silent mode.
How can I do it ?
I know that I can use a template called configure_only.rsp. However, i don't know what is the correct syntax for the command to start configuration.
Should I use the same setup.exe installer and inform configure_only.rsp as response file ?
The command below is the appropriate command for this task:
setup.exe -silent -response configure_only.rsp
Or is there another way to be followed?

Alright, I eventually found the answer.
Configuration must be run from directory on windows.
Command is shown below:
<FORMS_HOME>/bin/config.bat -silent -response <path-to-response-file>

How do you extract SQL from Oracle Forms and Reports files?

I am developing an "as is" data model for a government client for a 14 year old system that has three databases, 20 schemas, over 1500 tables, and over 23,000 columns. Needless to say, I do not plan to perform a manual mapping of data to screens and reports.
Most of the system has been developed in Oracle Forms and Reports. I am trying to map the live tables and columns to forms and reports.
The process here has been to save the forms and reports files as .fmb and .rdf files. The client does not have an available copy of Oracle Designer, which I understand could be used to extract the SQL.
Is there a utility somewhere that can parse the .fmb and .rdf files to extract the SQL?

Jim,
I don't know of any utility that will do this. You can convert and save each fmb as a fmt so you can view/search the contents , but I don't recommend that approach.
On the other hand, you download a copy of Oracle Designer:

It usually is included with Oracle Forms and Reports.

How to map the node id to the node name in database view just like "V$GES_RESOURCE"

i have a rac with 3 nodes,and the node id is from 1 to 3,i can check it with command olsnodes.
$ olsnodes -p -n -i

and i also can check it in gv$instance

it seems that the master node id is from 0 to 2
i want to get the node name from the node id from   v$ges_resource,so i check the table cluster_nodes ,cluster_instances,but there are nothing.

[Solved] How to adjust parameters of an SSIS package in SQL Server when using an SSISDB execution Script (=SP)

Hello,
I created a package in Visual Studio Integration Services, where it runs successfully.
I then deployed it to SQL server 2012. Here to it runs successfully, too.
Then I changed the script in that I exchanged two variables for two parameters - doing the same thing.
I noticed that in VS no dialog window comes up where I could change the value of the parameters; here obviously I am expected to set them in Visual Studio.
However, in SQL Server 2012 the dialog window does come up when I execute the package. I can then change the value of my two parameters and the package runs OK, giving me the expected results.
Now I created a script in SQL Server from which to execute the package. Do I have to change the script every time when I want it to run with different values for the parameters?
So far I have not even found how to feed different values for the parameters into the package by using the script. Or could I tell the script somehow to bring up the dialog window for changing the parameters?
How can I set/change the package parameters by using an SSIS execution script in SQLserver?
Or how could I bring up the dialog window thru the script?
Would s.o have an example?
Help is greatly appreaciated.

I found out by myself and leave the answer here should s.b. else wonder about the same issue.
Look at this:

Now, what is important and was not evident to me is:
1) The variable you use for the parameters - here var0 and var1 must match in their data type the corresponding parameter used in the package.
2) The @parameter_name must match the corresponding parameter name in the package.
3) The value that is being passed to the respective package parameter is the value you specify in the Declare statement. So in my case a string x and an int 1 is used.
4) Of course the @object_type must be set to 30 for package parameters
Then the script runs the package with adjusted parameters.
To many this might be evident, to me it was not.

Running the latest OS Mavericks. 8 gigs of RAM. 150 gigs free space on computer. Problem: since upgrading to Maverick almost all applications are slow to open, and frequently many 'spinning ball' interruptions. Repaired disk permissions - no help.

TS1394 My pictures file is locked. Don't have permission to access iPhoto library after Yosemite upgrade. How do I dump the new Pictures file and restore the old?

Just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 iPhoto gives me a permissions error when I try to access the photo library. When I track down the "Pictures" folders, the new "blessed" Pictures folder (with camera on the folder) is empty. The previous Pictures folder, now a generic folder named "Pictures" is found at MacHD>Users>Guest, with a no access red circle/white bar in the lower right corner. Get info tells me that "Guest" has read/write privileges, but not me, logged on with administrator password. Logging in as "Guest" does no good, the folder is no longer findable. Disk Utility Permissions repair and restart, both as Guest and with the administrator password are fruitless. I cannot alter the locked Pictures folder. Will moving the "blessed" pictures folder to the trash and restarting possibly fix this? If not, then how? Thanks.

Try holding alt or option key when starting iPhoto to choose a new Library.
