Upgrade test server to Windows2003

Hi,
Our essbase test box is running on Windows 2000 and the essbase version is 6.5.4. Our IT infrastructure group is seeking to upgrade os to Windows 2003 directly on the test box. Would this impact existing essbase applications on the server? Since essbase is 6.5.4, Oracle Hyperion does not have any documentation to tell if this is suported. Can a direct os upgrade be done without impact to essbase? OR maybe it's not supported, but someone did it without any issue?
Thanks.

@Sandeep gotcha... I was giving a generic statement for all versions there... nevertheless.. thanks for pointin out...
Hi,
You can have a backup of entire folder structure of app folder.
once you had upgraded the OS and reinstalled Essbase you can copy the app folder to apppath and try creating each application trhough MaxL.
Essbase will create an entry in sec file for each application and will take all the databases and other objects from the folder structure.
You may need to create all the filters, groups, users, subst variables again as these will normally stored in sec file.
But I would suggest to proceed with OS upgrade without uninstalling Essbase. I guess it might work as it is.
But to be on safer side, take the backup of app folder and prepare scripts to recreate filters, groups, users, subst variables.

  • Local Testing server and htdocs

So I have set up apache/php with virtual servers and I'm
    using DW8.
I may have terminology errors below. Correct me where I'm
    wrong please.
    Example site directory C:/apache/htdocs/site.com/
    The web directory is: C:/apache/htdocs/site.com/htdocs
however there are other important files hiden below this
    rebroot in "site.com/application" for example
My work diretory is C:/somewhere else/site.com. While
developing, I just set the testing server as my webserver and
posted everything to preview, but know I want to include the
production server, and try to use my local testing setup correctly.
I use DW to ftp and edit the site files, including those
below the webroot, so is set my directories to allow access to
those files. My annoyance is that when I preview my site it tries
to pull up the homepage as www.site.dev/htdocs/index.php
(I use dev to distinguish the local testing server)
Can I resolve this problem, or can someone explain how to
effecttively manage your workdirectory, testingserver and
production server from one DW site? At the moment I'm using two DW
    sites to manage for now.

    Thank you for your answers.

First, this is very possible depending on your theme.  Some of the dyanmic effects in themes use javascript files from the JQuery library as well as other javascript libraries.  Because of this it may not be possible to edit all files.
How do you think I could check this is true ? I think I need all the files if I wish to edit the theme. Would copying all the remote files locally help clearing this in any way ?

This sounds like a path issue in the code.  I would check there to make sure the path is correct.  Otherwise we would need to see the code.
I don't know how to check this. When inspecting the page with Live Code, I don't know which html file Dw is showing me on the left. No filename has that grey background like it's pushed... Plus, I don't understand why the path would have changed, since I didn't mess with the code (yet) ?

I have found this to appear when you have friendly/pretty-URLs or mod-rewrite turned on.  In the WordPress web admin, go to Settings->Permalinks and choose the default with the ?p=123 setting.  DW is currently unable to process the rewriting of URLs and it will only recognize the un-SEO-friendly way of reading URLs.
Ok now I don't understand. When I go to http://localhost/mysite/wp-admin, it shows me the WP logo,
    No Upgrade Required
Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!
And a big "continue" button, all of which on the original site (the url is http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F). Pressing the button gets me to http://www.mysite.com/.
Is that because I imported the database from the live site ? I don't know what I did to get that, I used to get to the local WP installation. Could that be a bad database setup ?
    Any idea ?
Again, thank you a lot for helping me out here !

  • Testing server no longer working

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded the hard drive in my macbook pro and used time machine to copy all data to the new drive. Now my testing server (MAMP) is no longer working. When I point my browser to /localhost/ the index page comes up but none of the dynamic pages work. Dreamweaver is no longer connecting to the SQL database, even when trying to create a new connection (it only looks to 127.0.0.1). I also deleted and recreated the testing server in the Dreaweaver preferences and uninstalled/ reinstalled MAMP.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!

  • Hyper-V host server upgrade from Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 to Server 2012 R2 Datacentre

We are about to upgrade our Hyper-V host servers from Server 2008R2 Enterprise SP1 to Server 2012 R2 Datacentre to take advantage of the latest Hyper-V features.
This only concerns the host servers and not the guest VMs running on the hosts (they will be upgraded next year).
This is what is running on our host servers:
    Host 1
    File,print & issuing CA server
    Exchange 2010
    SharePoint 2010
    Quickbooks server
    Domain controller 1
    Offline CRL CA
    Host 2
    SQL 2008
    Forefront TMG 2010
    Domain Controller 2
    Windows 7 client
With this is mind, I have drafted a rough action plan as follows:
Create a list of all file locations for VM memory, snapshots, virtual memory and Hyper-V config files
    Document all existing system settings
Gather server information, download drivers, RAID controller and other boot drivers & firmware updates (in case the in-place upgrade fails)
    Test all software media
Copy all VMs onto external data storage (NAS drive)
As part of the upgrade process we will redistribute some hard drive space i.e.
expand them to their new sizes and verify the data integrity of copied VMs by powering up each VM in a test environment
Wipe and adjust the sizes of the host partitions to accommodate the expanded VMs
Perform an in-place upgrade to Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
    Check EV, services etc
Change the default locations for VM memory, snapshots, virtual memory and Hyper-V config files
Upgrade Anti-virus and other system software
    Test the system
Are there any glaring omissions? Does anyone have any tips they can give me?

    Hi Marco,
always do a fresh Installation of your hyper-V Hosts, you could end up doing a lot of Troubleshooting with Drivers,Addons etc.. new Installation ist way faster.
Depending if you have a Cluster or Standalone Servers there are different ways to do it.
When you have installed your 2012 R2 Hyper-V Server you just can Import the VMs from the new Location.
As far as i know VMs with snapshots are not supported, so you have to remove them before doing that move and commit the changes to the vhd files, the VM need to be offline on 2008R2 to do that.
You do not Need to Export the VMs on 2008R2, just copy it, normaly you should have all Files of a VM in one Folder.
A working Backup is always your friend on such Tasks.
When the VMs are running on Hyper-V 2012R2 do not forget to Update the Integration Services.
Make Sure your Servers Hardware are still supported with 2012R2, see Server Catalog and Support Matrix of the Vendor.
And last one, where possible and supported convert the VHDs to VHDx Disks, after testing the first boot of the VM.

  • Browsers won't open some php testing server files

Running DW 8, OS 10.4.10, Apache virtual testing server with
    php local site.
I've Firefox and Safari as primary and secondary browsers.
    When working on a
page, if I select 'preview in primary browser', Firefox opens
    the page with
my virtual url...no problem. Lately, some php files will not
    open. Firefos
give a dialog to open the file in default (DW) or save to
    disk. This is very
frustrating since one file it does this to is a login page.
    Safari does the
    same thing!
I have select the file in question in the finder (extension:
    ,php) and
through the Get Info and told Mac OS to open this file with
    Firefox and all
.php extensions. Rebuilt prebinding so all php files in the
    Finder show a
Firefox icon, but still neither Firefox nor Safari will open
    them. They
    don't recognize the
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=ISO-8859-1" />
Metatag. The really frustrating thing is that only some files
    behave this
way. Most of the others work fine and I can't see anything in
    the headers
that would cause one to open and not another. Has anyone ever
    run across the
behavior before and if so, what was the cause?
    Thanks,

True, I'm running Apache 1.3, but I'm leery of trying to
    upgrade to a newer
version for fear of messing up everything that already works.
    Had a real
headache getting MySQL 5, PHP 5 and phpMyAdmin all up and
    running with DW 8.
Fortunately I had David Powers book that gave pretty much
    idiot proof
instructions on how to install all this stuff. I'd never been
    able to do it
left to my own devices. Another caveat is that my webhost,
    like most, is
behind the upgrade curve: they run MySQL 4.1 and phpMyAdmin
    2,8 so if I
upgrade too much there may be compatibility issues.
Another oddity, renaming that file from .php to .html
    extension causes it
to open fine in Firefox and Safari. I don't think it's kosher
    to keep it
that way since it does contain DW8's login php scripts.
    Again, there's no
    problem with other .php files.

  • Upgrading Oracle Server from 8.1.5 to 9i

    Hi,
We are currently having a suite of front-end applications that
are using the oracle server 8.1.5. It is a distributed database.
We would like to upgrade it to 9i. I need some clarificatons on
    this regard.
The details of the applications accessing this server are as
    follows:
a)Application#1 in Forms6.0(Both NLS and English)
b)Application#2 in Visual Basic 6.0 using OO4O and OCI
c)Application#3 in Java 1.2 using Oracle JDBC 2.0 and JRE
    1.2.2,PERLdb and ORAPerl
1.Is it enough only to upgrade the server and just test the
applications? Or should we do some changes to the applications
    like recompiling,etc..,
2.What will be the effort involved in achieving this?
    Please let us know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Devender

I will answer one by one :
    * there is nothing called unstable ,, you need only to upgrade on TEST platform at first and after upgrade put the upgraded server under all kind of tests for some time ( saying 2 months / 24 H ) ,, when you sure that EVERYTHING is working as wanted and that there is no compatibility problems between server and its clients
    * 9i are on its second release I am working on it for more than a year now on production environments on Windows / Linux and HPUX ,, all raised problems were been solved and workarounds were been showed up for other problems ( nothing new here - as usual for all previous releases ).
    * 9i have got scripts for upgrading databases from previous versions ,, for AIX MAYBE it needs to upgrade first to 817 ,, you need to be sure ( you can get to Metalink )
    * It depends on the application complexity ,, if talking about 2 database users for instance then its OK ,, if we are talking about Oracle Applications database which have 360 database user then it is next to imposible ,, For import / export accross versions you need to get back to Meatlink for more information ,, also have a test environment prior to getting to your production platform

    Hi,
ever since upgrading from Server 2012 X64 to Server 2012 R2 X64 my dns server keeps shutting down every several minutes before having to do a restart.  When viewing the event log this is all I see..

    thanks,

    Hi,
I'm going crazy,  I've upgraded my Server 2012 Standard to Server 2012 R2 Standard and now my DNS server keeps crashing since the in place upgrade.  I have finally narrowed it down to it only crashes after several minutes if I load the data from
a file instead of the registry.  As a test I:
-1- killed all my dns data,
-2- uninstalled the dns server role
    -3- deleted the /windows/system32/dns directory
-4- reinstalled the DNS server role
-5- used the wizard to create a DNS server and a forward zone.
everything works okay, no crashes,  then I change the advanced propertied of the DNS server to load from file, restart the DNS server and once again it crashes every 2 minutes..
Please help,  this is killing me..
    thanks in advance..

  • Setting up a test server

I am totally new to dreamweaver i have always used golive and

i am totally not getting it. i set up a test server it passed the

i have a dedicated server that i used to work directly off of
but i am just not getting how to or why i need to setup a testing
server just to program something correctly.
    any help would be great.
    thanks

It is worth trying with Linux as well because a) you are more likely to be deploying Java systems on a unix based system and b) it is very useful for anyone serious about using computers to know how to use a unix shell.
The problem is that you are then learning to use the OS as well as picking up the servlet and jsp deployment skills. It is feasible though- I learned this way, but it can be frustrating at times. The other problem is that once you start getting anywhere with it you won't want to go back to windows again ever.
For development you may want to use Tomcat standalone rather than with Apache because you will not need the load balancing side so much and it does save on trying to configure mod_jk.
If you do go down this path I recommend the O'Reilly "Running Linux" book as a good introduction to the operating system. There is loads of stuff available online as well so it is very well supported.

  • Upgrading SQL Server Questions

    Hi everyone.
I've never upgraded SQL Server before, so I'm quite nervous (Maybe unnecessarily so?)...
When I started development of the software we use here, another product required that we use SQL Server 2000.  That is no longer the case or an issue, so I wanted to upgrade SQL Server to a current version (That supports Windows Server 2003).  From
my research, it looks like I would be able to upgrade to SQL Server 2008.
I do have a few concerns though.
    1) Will my database function the same as it currently does?  Will my SQL Statements still work the same?  I haven't read anywhere where people were complaining of breaking changes, but I wanted to ask.  I would of course backup the database,
but this database gets a lot of use, so I want to reduce headaches as best I can.
    2) How do I upgrade SQL Server?  I realize of course that this will be viewed as a ridiculously stupid question, but I genuinely have no idea and certainly don't want to botch that...
    3) Will this automatically upgrade all databases on the current server?
    4) Will I need to make any changes within my application, or will the upgrade be seamless from that aspect?
    5) Would I need to purchase anything for the upgrade?  I already have SQL Server as part of Visual Studio 2013...
    I really appreciate the help.

    Hello,
    1. In most cases normal upgrade works fine but if you are using a feature in you application that is not present in 2008 code might function differently. So testing is your best bet.In you case side by side upgrade would be best one
     2. Obtain new windows box and install SQL server 2008 on it.Migrate database from sql server 2000 to 2008 thorugh backup restore mechanism.Migrate logins and jobs as well by scripting it out and running it on 2008.RK on jobs and create script
    How to transfer logins
Now test you application functionalities against this new database.See all works as expected if not change code accordingly. After you are confirmed that no app issue is there take full and trn saction log backup and restore it on 2008 and make it live
dont decomission old 2000 let it be ther for 15 -20 days just in case.
    3. After you restore 2000 database backup on 2008 it will upgrade database automatically. You just need to change compatibility level to 100.
    alter database db_name set compatibility_level =100
after this rebuild indexes and update stats for all tables and all databases.
    4. depends on issue if you face any speak to developer
5 You need to have full version of SQL server installable. If you are planning to use express you can download from net.For standard /enterprise you need to have valid license
Edit: As Olaf mentioned you need to run upgrade advisor as well ,even though it is required for inplace upgrade but that would be helpful, Still I would suggest for side by side approach

I'm actually working on putting together a server using Server 2012 r2 as well, but we tested everything on it prior to launch and are now in the migration phase with only one application not cooperating: Exchange 2010...If you have another functional server running to keep DirSynch going with, would definitely suggest either upgrading something or downgrading another to allow for compatibility issues. We're going to keep using Exchange 2010 on the server it's installed on until we can upgrade it to 2013, otherwise if we moved it while everything else is moving, we will lose email altogether and end up with a lot of angry users...Certainly a lot of compatibility issues regarding server OSes I'm finding in my 1.5 years working here so far... I'm quickly learning the importance of researching these kinds of issues, So hey, welcome to...

    Hi Everyone
I am desperate, I have upgraded a server to 2012 and it appears to stop DirSync from running. I can't uninstall the program because it doesn't launch the uninstall program from the control panel. I get an error message

I've been recommending to upgrade to R12 but the Finance Users are reluctant for an upgrade and of the opinion that the R12 has many bugs and there will be issues after upgrade to R12.
R12.1.x is a stable release that many customers (including Oracle themselves) have upgraded to.
Once of the consultant is of the opinion that its better to re-implement R12 instead of Upgrade. He also tells me that R12 does not have sub-accounting and sub-ledger and trial balance reports in AP.Since I am not a Functional Consultant I could not comment on this.
The Finance modules have been completely re-written and fucntionality had changed for the better. Re-implementation typically costs upto 3 times more than a upgrade. When previewing a file in the Dreamweaver development

The problem can be circumvented by avoiding the Dreamweaver

Surely the preview feature must not be bound by this

You need to define the testing server correctly in your site
    definition.
In your case, the Testing server folder field should be set
    to
Applications/MAMP/htdocs/jsMath/test/ and the URL prefix to
    http://localhost:8888/jsMath/test/.

  • How to see html code in a php file using CS5.5 without using testing server?

In CS5.5 when I open a page with php extention, DW does not show any html code in design view without me having to set up a testing server. In DW 8 it would open the same files and show me the html in design view. I have no need to test php code, I just need to alter the html. Is there a setting I can change to enable this in CS5.5? Thanks.

if I save a new page from template and save it as php, I only see symbols
for php and nothing else in design view.

a img { /* this selector removes the default blue border displayed in some
browsers around an image when it is surrounded by a link */
        border: none;
/* ~~ Styling for your site's links must remain in this order - including
the group of selectors that create the hover effect. ~~ */
    a:link
    a:visited
    a:hover, a:active, a:focus { /* this group of selectors will give a keyboard
navigator the same hover experience as the person using a mouse. */
        text-decoration: none;
/* ~~ This fixed width container surrounds all other divs ~~ */
    .container
/* ~~ The header is not given a width. It will extend the full width of your
layout. It contains an image placeholder that should be replaced with your
    own linked logo. ~~ */
    .header
/* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements
within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box
model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div
itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total*
width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div
and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for
    your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If
you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward
(for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times,
padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you
should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug
where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element
can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned
class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked
if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your
preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float
these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and
they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in
    the HTML source.

  • Dreamweaver 6. I can't reference root folder on test server - any ideas please?

Dreamweaver 6. I've set up a copy of a site onto a test server. All fine other than a problem with links to the root folder.
The web URL for test server is set up as http://localhost:8080/bhtownsite/ but when I set up a link to the site root e.g. /photos/pictures.php, instead of going to http://localhost:8080/bhtownsite/ the system ignores the 'bhtownsite' folder and goes to http://localhost/photos/pictures.php which of course doesn't exist!!
I've no hair left to pull - any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    @Murray,
I don't have a Root Directory field in my Testing Server definition (CS6 12.2).
    Server name:  Testing Server
    Connect using: Local/Network
    Server folder:  C:\wamp\www\MySiteName\
    Web URL:  http://localhost/MySiteName/
Is that something new in CC?

  • Remote and Testing Server Site Definitions

I am confused about what information I should put in my
remote site definition info and testing server FTC Host directory
text boxes. My host placed 3 directories: database, log, and www on
my server and Dreamweaver placed two directories, Connections and
_mmServerScripts in the same directory as the above 3. I have
placed all of my site files, including my home page and folders in
the www directory and my Access database in the database directory.
Dreamweaver placed the connection info in the Connections folder an
d _mmServerScripts in the same directory.
In order to construct my local site to match the remote site,
I created a www folder on my local site and placed all of my HTML
files and supporting folders in it.
From various Adobe Tech Notes I have read, I was led to
    believe my FTP host directory
Should be www/. However, when I do this and create a new web
page on my local site and upload it to my remote site, Dreamweaver
creates a new www directory inside of the one my host created on
the remote site and uploads the file to it instead of placing it in
the www directory my host created. Also, when I use F12 to test my
page in my browser I get a 404 page not found because Dreamweaver
placed a www in the page URL that shouldn’t be there and
after I remove it I’m able to see my page in my browser. My
URL prefix on my testing server site definition is:
    http://I.P.number.html.
What am I not doing right?
Should I use www/ as my FTP host directory or leave it blank?
Also, what should my URL prefix be?
    Thanks for your help.

What you need to do is set up so that in the remote server
    you point to the
www level on the server, and don't replicate this locally.
