Upgrade the default Tomcat and Apache

Is there a working and correct way to upgrade and run a Tomcat and Apache server of your pick instead of the pre installed versions in OSX 10.4.8 server.
Meaning that i want to start and admin them throught Server Admin interface, and making Jboss notice the new Tomcat aswell.

If you're asking here, the answer is probably no.
It is possible to build and install later versions of all the Mac OS X Server-bundled apps, including Apache, Tomcat, postfix, bind, etc., etc., but in most cases once you do you lose the ability to drive them via Server Admin.
Server Admin knows what it knows - more importantly it doesn't know any of the features of later versions of the apps (it may work with point released (e.g. Apache 1.3.20 -> 1.3.30, but it won't work with major versions like 1.3 -> 2.0).
So if you go that way you're on your own as far as configuring and maintaining the service is concerned.
Leopard (10.5) will include later versions of these apps if you're prepared to wait.

i need to interlink tomcat and apache. so i downloaded jk connector and i have configured it.

went i start apache after the entry is given it gives the error like this

please help to configure this.
i have done every thing as it is in apache.org documentation. please give the complete configuration. some say that tomcat is not compiled according to apache1.3. but i configure jk connector as --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs

I'm working in a linux machine and choose to use also two different users. Of course I'm using two different ORACLE_HOME directories.I think that the best approach.Just a question ,are you keeping the "GROUP" same or different?

Problem in configuring tomcat and apache

I am using mod_jk to configure tomcat and apache. In the server.xml file in /TOMCAT_HOME/conf, I have added this line:
<Listener className="org.apache.jk.config.ApacheConfig" modJk="/TOMCAT_HOME/mod_jk/mod_jk.so" />
And when I restart the tomcat, I get this error:
Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to create path to config file :
/usr/local/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/conf/auto/mod_jk.conf
What this error is and how it will be removed. Any suggestion?

Seems like a filesystem user rights problem. Perhaps tomcat is running as a seperate user and this user has no rights to write to one of the subdirectories?

Tomcat and Apache via JK2

Hello,
Has anybody ever gotten tomcat and apache working properly? I'm having a hell of a time with it. I have them working independently, and have JK2 installed (made a package for it). I used the tomcat 4.1 package from incoming...
I can post configs and such if anybody thinks they can help. Right now, this is just a probe to see if anyone thinks they can help. I need a break from it, been scrapping with it for three hours now.
Once I get this working, I'll post a howto to the Wiki, I promise. :-D

Anyway, when I go to http://localhost:8080/examples/jsp, for example, it works with tomcat. But if I go to http://localhost/examples/jsp I get a 404 not found; apache isn't forwarding the request to tomcat, for whatever reason.

I can't tell if it isn't finding workers2.properties in the right place (why look in /usr/conf), or if its looking in two places and then not finding the shm file??
Do you have anything in ${TOMCAT_HOME}/conf/jk2.properties? All the stuff I've seen online wants me to add stuff to that file, but its never the same stuff.

As we know,we need to disable the default format and partition step in ts to let mdt deploy os on C and leave the other partitions stay safe when there is only one disk on pc，and the way of installing operation system is logical drive letter store in a varible.
But what if there are 2 disks on pc，and for a record the disk 0 is always the OS disk,don't need to confirmed this.How can we modify the format and partition step to format only C on disk0 under this condition?then lead the mdt to do the rest deployment
by itself.

You are pushing up against the design limits of MDT, and the more complex and/or arbitrary the disk configuration the harder it is for MDT to perform installations.
If you want to maintain the *existing* disk configuration, and just update the OS present, then the recommended course of action is to run MDT from *within* the OS (cscript.exe
\\server\deploymentshare$\scripts\litetouch.vbs), not from WinPE. When you do this, it's called a "refresh" scenario. MDT can capture the user files via USMT, and it knows which
partitions to use, because it's launched from within the OS itself.
Disabling the default Format and Partition step has other unintended consequences.

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

I want to purchase a Macmini with SL Server and create a photo competition solution for a camera club. The solution needs to be able to accept uploaded images and the solution needs to let the user associate a set of images to a competition and from there the solution needs to make sure that the filename, format, size and embedded metadata is correct before storing and processing them further. Friends I have talked to say I need a classic CMS solution so I may need to investigate instead of my planned AppleScript/Automator solution.
Also - thank you for offering to develop, but I had kinda planned to do this myself to build some knowledge and also get to know the server better.
Anyone else using the SnowLeo server for a solution like this?

What is the default username and password for administering my f4500 deskjet printer?

I need to administer my F4500 Deskjet through my web browser, but do not know the username and password. I presume there is a way to default the settings, but I need to know the defaults. Please provide the default username and password for web access.

The default username is Admin, but the password is blank by default. Somehow, a password was added at some point.
You can try going to the EWS and going to Settings and looking for a password reset option in the Administrator Settings section. If it is there, it will be the only way I know of clearing the password on this particular printer.

OC4J 1.0.2.2.1, connection pooling, and over-riding the default username and password

We are using OC4J 1.0.2.2.1 and connection pooling with data-sources.xml
In data-sources.xml, we have specified the default username and password.
However, there are situations where we will want to use a different username and password and still use the connection pool. For example:

This may be problem with your userid/password. Please look the $OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/config/principals.xml whether you have a right userid password.
I did a quick test at looking up at "jdbc/OracleDS" for two users admin and SCOTT and this works fine both in 1.0.2.2.x an 9.0.2
I got your errors when I had wrong passwords for these users
