Upgrade to infinity turned out to be a downgrade &...

I have been a bt customer since 2008 & when infinity became available in my area i took it & now i regret this. i was close to the end of my contract and was offered infinity with fake promises and dont get me started on the tv advertisement. the advert makes many false claims in my opinion and i base this on the service and lies i have been feed. on the 3rd of febuary a bt openreach engineer came to my property and took all day to set up, after a few trips to the exchange and my home, and managing to cut my landline off and trying to get the hub to go blue. the engineer left and thats when all the issues started and since that day i have had 4 engineers in my house and still my hub goes red from time to time and it's sooooo slow. i have spoken to so many people at bt with the longest call being over 2 hours and managers who dont give a **bleep** and deny issues faced. i have had weekends without broadband and yet managers just claim it's a drop in connection and the amount of times i have heard it's my hub is unreal. i have 2 hubs and always test both and do all the checks and still my speed is slow or my hub goes red and a engineer told me that it should never be red. if i dont hear from someone high up then im left with no other option then reporting the situation and seek legal action. it's now september and so 7 months of paying for a service and promises of money back and yet nothing been done. the team on the phone also dont write everything down, as when i call up they lie and all i ever do is complain and it's got to the point where i avoid calling bt as they do nothing and i have even had a worker be very rude to me. i will not renew and i certainly wouldnt recommend bt anymore as they lie on the phone and play the blame game. i also have to work from home and due to the slow broadband i am unable to fulfill my role and so i miss out financially.  my current download speed is 17.21 and the highest i use to get was more then double that.

where did i state i had intentions of using it for business ???   i sometimes cant even check my emails due to broadband issues and i have to connect to hotspot or use mobile provider instead. so whats the point me paying for this when it dont work fully and like i said it's been ongoing since febuary. no problems before this and it's since infinity and im unable to have 2 tabs open. 7 months it's been ongoing and no one at bt cares because they still get money out of me and they have even reduced me to tears over this with the lies and excuses.

  • Disapointing upgrade turned out to be a downgrade

My experience with infinity has been really dispointing. The engineer came while my mother was at home. When i came home I learned that the landline was working. You would think that they would notified me. This hapopens on friday afternoon. I tried to report the fault via the broadband which kept cutting out and dropping spent 2 hours.  It seems now that the different sectings dnt COMMUNICATE well. I contacted them on a my neighbors landline on sat to arrange to have the problem fixed I reported the falt. eventually some one phones on sunday evening to say the falt is clereared. Spent another 2 hours on monday trying to sort out the speed. They wasted my time doing this and that. the person on the other end had no clue. Eventually i call to cancel. They kept me hanging on and then disconnect me so i found myself repeating the same story over and over. ut seems i am stuck in the contract. This is the second time i have been stuck with 18month contract with BT  So far no apologies. By the way in the end they said that it takes 10 days for infinity to settle down to achieve the speeds of about 55 which it did but guess what it is still slower surfing even the speeds on BTwholesale says 55 and i cant get connected in my bedroom. The old broadband was better dont know why i "upgraded". So far no apologies for lack of land line connection, warning us about speeds and access and the terrible ciustomer service

After I upgrade iphone4 to iOS 4.3.5 and turns out cannot sync anymore
    Please help

Well, I was able to get it to sync by opening iTunes first, and THEN connecting the iPhone.  And it does sync but still will not sync with iPhoto.  I also unchecked and rechecked the option to "Open iTunes automatically when this iPhone is connected" and now iTunes opens and syncs automatically.  But tried the same thing with iPhoto to no avail.
    Any ideas for iPhoto syncing?

I have upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 and found that all folders/files/pics in my disk drive have 'dotted' (either white or black) patterns on them. But it turns out fine when I open up the affected files/folders/pics. And this phenomenon persisted even after updating to the latest software. I proceeded to upgrade to 10.8 and updated the latest software thinking that this might resolve the problem but still stays the same way as it was. Could it be the Adobe flash player that is causing this problem? Please help.

Try a rest: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, turn the iPad back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?

My MACBOOK Pro turned out to be Snow Leopard, and later upgraded toLION. And update the EFI, I would like to replace the Snow Leopard, EFIcan not boot, how do? How to use the Snow Leopard install disk to reduce EFI?

Do you mean some of your software does not work in Lion? Do you want to return to using Snow Leopard? If so, then do this:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Upgrade to Infinity, transferring Hub line tel num...

Help! I turn to the BT community out of desperation, and would love to know what to do next! I wish to upgrade to Infinity, and have a hub 2.0 with a standard bt telephone plugged into the hub using the internet line (with a number that is different from my landline number). I understand that when I upgrade to the Infinity Hub, I lose the option of a hub phone or line, but I wish to retain the number - either to replace the existing landline number, or to take out a second landline, using this number. BT have said 4 different things -   1. No, not possible (BT sales centre) or                                                                                                                                        2. Definitely can retain the number, just can't guarantee on the day it might not happen (BT Sales centre, again),
    3. Yes, absolutely possible either by transferring Braodband into this number, or adding a second landline(BT Technical Help desk)       4 No (from BTcustomer service)
Does anyone know the truth? oor have experience of this situation? Any help desperately appreciated - thank you

  • Very much regret upgrading to Infinity!

We were plagued by calls from the company BT use to sell Infinity for over a year, often receiving 2 calls per week! We were quite happy with standard broadband which was fast enough for our BB needs and didn't want to incur any additional monthly cost.
Then we received a letter from BT stating that we could upgrade to Infinity at no extra cost, keep our existing discount and our contract term would remain the same.   When I called to clarify the terms & conditions I was told that when our existing term ended I could call to arrange a new discount package if I signed up for another 12 mths so we went ahead.
I called the Customer Options Team today as the existing term and Line Rental Saver has now ended, only to be told that as they are unable to discount Infinity the best they could offer me was a reduction of £2 p/m or alternatively I could keep the existing discount if I downgraded back to standard BB!!!
Ho hum, off to search the BB comparison site!

I've had that letter as well.  I phoned up twice before Christmas.  Both times I was told I qualified for the offer, but they couldn't actually make an appointment then, and I should phone back a few days later.
In the end, I lost interest and gave up.  I'm not sure I want the upgrade anyway - my master socket is in completely the wrong place.
I'm still stuck on ADSLMax.  I'll wait till March when my contract runs out, and if my line hasn't been upgraded to ADSL2+ by then, I will threaten to switch to another supplier who will give me a faster speed.

  • Infinity roll-out kills Standard Broadband Service

BT have rolled out Infinity to my area and since the roll-out my Standard Broadband Service has deteriorated to an extent that BT have confirmed they can longer guarantee me that service (despite the fact they are still willing to charge me for it)! Anyone else been impacted in this way?  I've been told my only option to obtain Broadband is to pay for the more expensive Infinity.

Its not an issue in all areas, but the longer the distance from the cab, the more noticeable it is. Generally, if people are getting very low speeds due to distance, it does make sense for them to upgrade to Infinity, if its available.
I believe that the Infinity pricing is fairly competitive anyway.
Infinity has not really interested me because I get between 9-11Mb on my line, and I use broadband talk quite a lot.
My local connection is not perfect, and one of the two pairs into my house are faulty anyway, and the current pair does have a HR somewhere, which can show itself if the landline is not used for a week (no DC wetting, if you know what that means)
That can result in an occasional disconnection on an incoming PSTN call, but not enough to worry about.
    To fb3
What connection speed do you get at the moment?

Help! I downloaded a newer version of Safari but it turns out ... its not compatible with my OS X. Now my computer essentially has no browser and can't connect to the internet.

"… my dilemma is that my iMac…"
Download the old Safari to the MBP. Use a flash drive to transfer the .dmg installation file from the MBP to the iMac. Open the .dmg on the iMac and install Safari 5.1.10.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters.

  • Upgrading to Infinity

    Hi,
I'm a current BT Broadband customer and interested in upgrading to Infinity.  I am in an area that accepts it, so I should be good.  I'm just a bit suprised that BT haven't been in touch.  Virgin Media send me literature about twice a month for special deals.
The web site directs me to how to purchase a new installation, but I would like to upgrade and I would hope BT would take into account that I have been a loyal customer for 25 years to sweeten the deal.
Anyone know how I go about this and avoid speaking to an Indian Call Centre.
    Many thanks .

  • X-Fi Titanium Champion Series. Folloup, Turns OUT STATIC NOT CREATIVES FA

Well I came on and posted a couple of threads. One was about the four new cards I had purchased (All new Titanium PCI-E Cards) which had redicules amount of static in everything. Some examples:
.) Explosions in games huge static
2.) Watching videos online and scrolling up and down caused static
    3.) General Windows Audio Static
Im not 00% which resolved it. Firstly I have the Asus Striker II Extreme Motherboards, Upgraded to the 03 series Bios, and the new September set of nforce/geforce/ntools drivers for the 9800 GX2s. After reinstalling windows, the static was gone. Previously I had static at this point. However once I installed the ACPI update from windows update, the static returned. Reinstalled windows and didnt install this one update and statics gone.
Im using the Drivers right off the cd, turns out "This isnt the fault of Creative Labs". I was trolling them before blaming them stating its the first Creative Card Ive used thats ever given me problems, now I know I trolled the wrong guy and creative as always does maintain and make an awesome product

Its interesting really, the SupremeFX II in the same PCI-E slot doesnt get any static. Ive had to remove the Titanium PCI-E and use the onboard to stop static when using SLI.
I use to get static with SLI off but it looks like the most recent BIOS from asus along with all the latest drivers from nvidia seemed to fix this however in SLI the problem still exists
I dont feel as though this is creatives problem is the non sli static was fixed with nvidia drivers

  • When I download pictures from my camera, they turn out a nice big size in iPhoto; other pictures that have been e-mailed to me or imported from older libraries/other computers show up small.  Why is this, and how can I make them all the larger size?

When I download pictures from my digital camera into iPhoto, they turn out a nice large size (usually almost the full screen), but when somebody e-mails me pictures and I import them into iPhoto, or when I transfer old photos from an old library into my new iPhoto library, they turn out very small--not exactly thumbnail-size, but too small to use for calendars or photo books.  I don't know much about computers, so I don't know how this happened.  Also, I can't find any discernible pattern to why this happens with some pictures and not others--ie: what I described above is usually true, but I have had e-mailed photos or old photos turn out the way I want them, which is in the larger size in iPhoto.  Why is this happening, and how can I make all the pictures the larger size?

Some mail programs, including Apple Mail, can reduce the size of images that are attached to a message. It's happening at the sender's end, and all you can do is ask the sender for a larger image.

Interesting tid bit.  I created an AAC of the original file, deleted the original MP3 from my library and also deleted the Clean matched track from the icloud.
Result is that it matched with the explicit version of Mrs. Officer this time.
What I am curious about is which songs this is happening for. I've went thru a few batched of about 500 songs at a time and redownloaded in 256k for many tracks. Sadly we don't have people to bring this to our attention and I have so much music that it's impossible to go thru every song to make sure I am getting the right version.
