Upgrade using "oesbkp" OCS 9.1.4.2 to OCS 10.1.2

I'd like to install an "empty" OCS 10.1.2 on a new server, creating new users using same domain/usernames as we have on 9.1.4.2.
After that, I'd like to do an oesbkp from OCS 9 to create mail backup, and unidbbackup to do a calendar backup.
Anyone knows if I can restore these backups on the "empty" OCS 10 side?? Can I use oesbkp/unidbrestore of OCS 10 to restore files backup'ed from OCS 9? Any other similar ideas for OCS files?
Thanks,
Mastria.

Hi!
I never tried this and quite frankly I do not understand why you want to do this instead of a migration.
I know that the email inbox of a user is the same as the users id (usually a number like 16234). The logic of these numbers is not exposed to the outside world but if you have a user john.doe and provision him to the OCS his inbox might be called 16234. He then creates two folders (16235 and 16236) so when you create the next user Ann.Smith you receive a new inbox number (16237). If you create new users you might need to create all the folders by hand which I will never advise to any customer.
So just migrate and everything will be fine :-)

  • [SOLVED] upgrade using Octopi system will not boot into DM

I did a system upgrade using Octopi late last night. I use Enlightenment and Gnome. After the upgrade the desktop froze (E), so I switched to a vt and rebooted. That failed to work, so I forced power off using the power button and went to bed. The next day I started up the laptop (lenovo t430) but the boot never got to gdm login. I stops with the line: "[ OK ] Started Accounts Service". Using htop I see that gdm is running.
Then I opened a vt and tried to do another upgrade (pacman -Syu), but that failed with an error message stating that a libgpgme was too short. I took a look and found that both libgpgme files were empty (0 bytes). I went to my pacman cache and found the packages and use them to copy over the lib files. Pacman then worked. But booting still did not.
All this made me curious, so I checked my /usr/lib dir and found 54 lib files empty. I'm certainly no system expert, but this doesn't seem like a good sign to me. When ldconfig is run a very long list of empty libs is printed to the screen.
At any rate, I'm wonder if anyone else ran into this issue and (of course) if anyone has a solution for this? I really don't want to go through each empty lib and copy the files by hand if I can avoid it.
Any help would be very appreciated.
    TIA
    Gary

Thank you for the link, not to mention the quick reply.
The packages python-packagekit and packagekit had to be removed before I could start the installation as they had a dependency on a older version of pacman. My mirrors file caused a good deal of packages to not be downloaded, so that had to be changed. Afterwards everything went well. This experience has shown me the strength of the Arch package system, it's really an amazing system.
I tried the recommended command from the above link but kept getting numerous error messages stating that such and such file already existed on the filesystem. Which was true enough, so I added the --force parameter and that did the trick.
This is the command I used to get running again:
    pacman -S $(pacman -Qnq) --force
Problem solved. Except I have to wonder how it was caused in the first place. If it was caused by using Octopi, I guess I should run that by the author. And I'll have to either go back to using the command line or try another gui.

    Hi all,
Can I upgrade Portal in OCS 10.1.2 to Portal version 10.1.4? Will it make any impacts on other Collaboration components?

  • In-Place Upgrade using SCCM Fails (W7 to W10)

I'm trying to troubleshoot attempting to perform an in-place upgrade using SCCM (following the blog posted by the SCCM Team).
I started with a fresh build of an HP z620 using our standard corporate Windows 7 64bit Enterprise (SP1) build.
My first attempt just hung after rebooting into WinPE.  It was able to complete the "Getting Ready" step but then would go no further.  In fact it sat at that boot screen for most of the weekend.
I found a forum post that suggested running SCF/SCANNOW to make sure that all the system files were intact.  I did this and attempted it again.  This time a Windows 10 "Your PC ran into a problem" flashed briefly and then it rebooted
and rolled back to Windows 7.
Any suggestions on where I should look?  I've been testing this task sequence on a Hyper-V VM using the same corporate image and it works fine.  My gut keeps telling me it's driver related, but I don't know if I'm just jumping to conclusions.

You should post a comment on the blog about this and ask them where to post

If you bought your phone from an official source, like a carrier and not in some 'market / ebay', then you can update with no issues.
If you bought it from other than a carrier then you have to take your chances.

  • Reloading CS5 upgrade using CS2 serial number

Several years ago I upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS5.  I recently had to have my computer reformatted.  When I have tried to reload my CS5 upgrade using the CS2 serial number it isn't accepted.  I went to the Adobe site and downloaded CS2 but I still can't reload my CS5 disk.  From Adobe it seems I need a code to unlock the CS2 activation but I can't seem to get help this way.  Now what do I do?

    Now what do I do?
No need to -re-install CS2 at all.
Just install the CS5 upgrade (the upgrade contains the full program code), enter your CS5 upgrade serial number then enter your CS2 serial number when prompted.

    Hi Kim,
I recommend to check if the server farm account password has expired or was changed, update the server farm account password. Then, try to upgrade the server farm again.
To update the server farm account password, type the following command at an elevated command prompt and then press ENTER:
Stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin domain\username -password password
In addition to that, you can also clear the config cache location for timer service from the below location:
    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config
For the detailed information about how to clear the config cache, check out the following article:

  • BI7 dual stack upgrade using 'resource minimised' method

    Hi
I am upgrading a Windows 2003/MS SQL 2005 sandpit NW04 BI 350 dual stack (ABAPJAVA) to BI7 (NW04S ABAPJAVA) as a test before working on our actual landscape, I have started the ABAP upgrade and chose the 'resource minimised' method as downtime isn't an issue on the sandpit, I then started the upgrade on the Java stack, but then noticed in the documentation it states you should use 'downtime minimised' for a dual stack upgrade? the ABAP prepare recognised I had a dual stack and said it would be synchronised but never complained about the resource minimised choice ? the phases have been waiting for synchronisation so far without a problem.
Is this a problem? I can reset the upgrade, but its quite far through, so would rather not !
    Thanks,
    Paul.

    Hello Paul
As you said, SAP state that you must perform a dual stack upgrade using strategy downtime - minimised. I had a problem when I used resource minimised but if your upgrade is running then donu2019t terminate it. If it works, thatu2019s great.
What I normally do is run strategy downtime minimised with an import time of zero hours.
    Thank You

  • Lightroom 5 upgrade, using full install disk - will it properly upgrade version 4?

Just want to make sure that I won't lose settings, catalog, presets, or anything else if I upgrade using the full version DVD (not an upgrade disk). Thanks!

The program on the disk is exactly the same program as the upgrade. It's just licensing differences. If you install from the disk, the first thing you will be prompted to do after the installation is complete will be to update to version 5.3. You would do just as well to download and install the trial version which is presently 5.3, and then just activate it with the serial number in the box.
The first time you run Lightroom 5 it will find your previous catalog and give you the option to upgrade it. You want to choose that option, and then Lightroom will create a new copy of that catalog that will include all of your images, all of the adjustments and all of the presets that you have already created. Your previous version will be left completely intact and usable as it has been in the past.

  • Upgrade OID for use with OCS?

    Hi all,
we run Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.0, and we received a request to have the OID of our system used by applications build with Oracle Collaboration Suite 10.1.2.3.
    1. In general: Is it possible to run OCS 10.1.2.3 apps against the OID of an AS 10.1.2.0.0 installation?
    2. Is there any upgrade path from the OID which comes with AS 10.1.2.0.0 to the OID included in OCS 10.1.2.3 and AS 10.1.2.0.2?
    3. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to upgrade the complete AS 10.1.2.0.0 to 10.1.2.0.2. If so, what would be the preferred way to upgrade at least the OID to 10.1.2.1.0?
Thanx in advance for your comments on this issue.
    - Thomas

To answer Q3) the upgrade path from 10.1.2 is to use 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 1 (10.1.2.1.0) ). From the patch set notes
This patch set is not a complete software distribution. You must install this patch set over one of the following existing installations:
    * Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0)
    * Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.1) Standard Edition One
Functional wise 10.1.2.1 is the same as 10.1.2.0.2

  • Can I Upgrade using like a "Migrate" method? OCS 9.1.4.2 to OCS 10.1.2

We use OCS 9.1.4.2 for a year or more, and we want to upgrade to 10.1.2. On Upgrade Guide, all the paths instructs for upgrade services on same server. But I'd like to install OCS 10g on new servers (hardware), with a new OS (I'm using Suse SLES8 and want to install OCS 10g on SLES9), and do something like to a "migrate" data (email, calendar, files, ...) from my current OCS 9.4.0.2 servers to new 10g servers. Any ideas about the best way to do this??? Oracle have any "path" to do this kind of work? Thanks.

I don't think Oracle has a path for this right now...
I'm planning an upgrade from 9.0.4.2 to 10.1.2. I'll be mainly moving email and calendar. I'm working out the details now. But here are my thoughts...
    Migrating email...
    1. extract users (groups, etc) from 9.0.4.2 OID and import into 10.1.2 (lots of details to work out here)
    2. Then use an imap sync tool to sync email accounts between the two servers.
Calendar (this ones not so easy).
    1. I'm planning on creating a new 9.0.4.2 installation (swing server) and coping the calendar users and data to that.
    2. Then perform a 10.1.2 upgrade on the swing server.
    3. Move the calendar data from the swing server to a new production installation of 10.1.2.
If you're interested I can post the details as I move along... Or if you have a better idea, I'm listening...

  • Can an Organization Adopt Calendar10g Without Using Entire OCS?

    Hello,
My organization has used CS&T / Oracle calendar in the past with success. We're looking at upgrading to 10g, but I have heard grumblings that doing so will require adopting the much broader Oracle Collaboration Suite. I find that hard to believe, and I suspect that nothing would prevent us from using Oracle Calendar 10g as we have in the past. Can someone clear up this confusion for me? I am not sure I even understand where Calendar ends and OCS begins. Thanks.

    Hello,
Existing CS&T/Steltor customers can upgrade to the Oracle Calendar Stand-Alone Server without needing to use the rest of the Collaboration Suite. So it is possible for you to upgrade your current stand-alone server to the 10g stand-alone version.
If you were not a CS&T/Steltor customer, or if your support/maintenance agreement lapsed, then you need to use the Calendar Server that comes with the Collaboration Suite (e.g. the Calendar Server running against OID).
    Hope that helps,

I have a MacBook pro I recently upgraded to OSX. iPhoto is now not working as it was purchased under an old apple ID and I cant find a way to use my current ID to upgrade it. Also if I delete iPhoto to then repurchase it, will I lose my photo library?

    1. iPhoto won’t run any differently based on the Apple ID it’s associated with, but can only be updated from that one.
    2. No. Back it up anyway.

    Dear Doron
Solution Manager system will never physically participate in the upgrade of a Netweaver Server. It will only help you to find the right files via the maintenance optimizer. Also if you want to develop / use a Project for your upgrade you could use the upgrade roadmap and then use Solution Manager as a Project Management tool for the upgrade.
Besides this there will be no guide available for "upgrading" a system, since the upgrade roadmap is generic and the maintenance optimizer feature is isolated from the roadmap. You will have to follow the upgrade guides available on
    http://service.sap.com/instguides.
Hope that this answers your query.
