Upgrade WLAN Nic for 5 GHz Support on GE70

Hello, I've had my MSI GE70 for a few months now and i have had no issues with it until now.
We recently replaced our router to a new one with 5 GHz support, And i noticed GREAT changes in speed.. 4-5 mbps to 30-40 mbps .... on my phone.. which supports 5 GHz...
Now when i tried to connect to this network i could not find it.. and i see that i only have a 802.11b/g/n card.. Is there any card i can replace it with for 802.11a/b/g/n support?''
I currently have the Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC card

You're welcome to do that. MSI doesn't whitelist components so you could get (for instance) an Intel 6235 I believe it is and use that if you wanted.
The big thing to keep in mind is that you want to get a card that has the same number of antenna ports as your current card. Obviously a card that has 3 antenna's compared to your current one (which probably only has 2) will be a problem.
Would the INTEL Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 work? I have heard about the 6235 having stability issues on windows 8.1

    I am using os x 10.4.11.
Do I need to upgrade to 10.5.xx? Will this platform suport 10.6.xx? If 10.6 will work do I need to install 10.5 first?
    Thanks...

Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

Just upgraded to snow leopard, downloader apple support drivers for canon mp620.  Why won't a printer list display in add printer window?

Assuming the MP620 is connected to your wireless network, then there are two components to this device - the printer and the scanner. The printer uses Canon proprietary software while the scanner is supported by Apple's Bonjour service. So in many cases, you will at least see the scanner, shown as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column, while the printer can take longer to appear and is shown as canonijnetwork in the Kind column. If you cannot see either then you have a network issue. Try turning off the MP620 for a minute and then turning back on. Then see if the scanner / printer component appears in the Add Printer window. If you still don't see either, then confirm the MP and the Mac are using the same network. If you know the MP's IP address you can use Network Utility to Ping the address. You can also enable Bonjour Bookmarks in Safari preferences and when selected, the MP620 should appear.

I have a new MacBook Air and a Brand New ENVY100 eAll In ONe Printer and the software provided does not support LION OS.
How can I upgrade the software for the printer?

If you mean upgrade the HP software for your Mac, get it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
If you mean firmware for your printer, enable Web Services then go to Setup > Preferences > Update Product.

  • Firmware upgrade for WRT120N to support IPV6?

IPV4 IP addresses will be running out in less than a year and I wanted to know, will there be a firmware update for WRT120N to support IPV6?
    If not, why?
Also, if I have to buy another router to support IPV6, I'm going to buy a D-Link. It's nothing personal, I just find it absolutely idiotic that a router that supports wireless-N doesn't support IPV6. You have to ask your self, how does the standard IPV6 spec thats a few years old not make it to the final product of a router, but a non-standard wireless-N spec implementation somehow got the O.K....?

If you want to know about a firmware update you have to call Linksys support. You won't get an official answer here.
It's absolutely not ridiculous. Maybe IPv6 implementations are around for a while. But it was mostly basic routing and connectivity. All major companies only started maybe two or three years ago to fully support IPv6 in their pro devices. Before that, IPv6 was usually an update not included in the base firmwares. Often it was a paid option. And even today you'll find IPv6 not really equally supported in high-end firewalls which is why some companies are even now reluctant to deploy IPv6 because they are afraid to weaken their firewalls...
And you write yourself: your provider is testing IPv6 now. Isn't that ridiculous, too?
And even today you'll find many client devices in stores which don't at all support IPv6, yet, for instance printers, VoIP phones...
Thus which consumer brand do you think is so much more trustful? And to work perfectly on an Internet connection where even your ISP is still in test phase?

  • Options for upgrading 10gas Apache in place to support newer SSL protocols

We currently still have 10gas portal (I know!) running on Solaris.  There is a current project to move away from this but in the meantime, Firefox v 37 and above now rejects the SSL versions that the 10gAS Apache SSL provides.
We are looking for options, any options to get around this for a few months!
Can the current 10gAS Webserver be rebuilt to use a later version of Open SSL?   or
Is there a  way to seemlessly integrate a new WebTier OHS install under the covers of the existing 10gAS?   or
Does someone have any other approaches to consider?
If someone has actually done something like this, it would be great.
We are certainly not experts in HTTP, SSL, etc so we may need some hand holding to get this done.
Please advise ASAP as the user (who we've been asking to upgrade this sw for years) is know impatient to see a solution to this mess,
    Thanks....

  • Upgrading T61 NIC -- 4956agn (n-disabled) -- to 802.11n

I have a T61 7659-12U.  According to the Lenovo specs and what I see using Windows Device Manager, this -12U version of model 7659 comes with the Intel 4965agn wireless card (n-disabled).  I am therefore only able to use 802.11g wireless connections, not 802.11n.
The basic specs for the 7659 model indicate that it supports several types 802.11n wireless cards;  however, I see nothing in Lenovo specs that show whether this capability applies to all versions of the 7659, or only some versions.
Is it possible for me to just buy and install a Lenovo-approved n-level card in my -12U system -- does my system have all the motherboard connections, antenna capabilities, etc. to support an internal 802.11n NIC, or do I need to use an external PCMCIA wireless card to get 802.11n capability.??

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I finally got a Lenovo trouble ticket opened on this, and the answer was yes, I could upgrade the NIC to an N-level card.  The antenna and software already support n-level operation.
Apparently Intel makes just one basic 4956 chip design, and then cripples the n-level operation on some of them for installation in lower-cost versions of specific computers.  The basic T61 7659 box supports a variety of NICs, and the configuration version (12U in my case) just indicates which mix of options (disk size, NIC, etc.) is installed in that particular computer.  The 12U just contains a cheaper set of options than other T61s.

  • Upgrade Plug in for CS4 to read raw files

I have  PS4 and just bought a Canon 5d Mark III. PS now won't open my raw files. Can I get an upgrade plug in for CS4 to read these files? Thanks

First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in Photoshop CS4.  To do that look at these two pages.  You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
In your case, your 5D Mark III was first supported by Camera Raw version 6.7.  And we see that Camera Raw 6.7 was supported by Photoshop CS5, not Photoshop CS4 - so you cannot get direct raw support for your version of Photoshop.
However, you CAN download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your CR2 files) I recommend upgrading to Photoshop CS6 or newer.  Adobe made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.
Adobe has a nice "Photographer's Bundle" subscription offer going right now.

  • Is it possible to upgrade a macbook 2.16 ghz intel core 2 duo to OSX 10.8.5?

I have an old mackbook, approx 2007 era. Is it possible to upgrade a macbook 2.16 ghz intel core 2 duo to OSX 10.8.5?

You can only upgrade to 10.7 Lion. Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. Or go to http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion and purchase it there. The price is $19.99.
You will have to be at 10.6.8 first.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. After you’ve installed that then use the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/faq/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-3-g b-memory-limitation-details.html
OWC tests have found that there is a slight speed increase with having two 2gb sticks in rather than one 1gb and one 2gb. Your model is in the gray lines at the bottom of the graph. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Memory_Benchmark/Apple_MacBook/

  • Can macbook pro 15 in i7 2.2 GHz support 16GB ram

Can macbook pro 15 inch i7 2.2 GHz support 16GB ram?

    Yes.
But Apple only says/does 8GB and charges $435 to do it.
If you want to save a ton of money, you can do 16GB yourself for $280 and a DIY kit.
Doesn't break the warranty as long as you don't break anything in the process.

    Hi
Seems you tried to install the wrong drivers for wrong notebook series.
The Sat A100-813 belongs to the PSAA8E series and the notebook has been equipped with the Intel 3945ABG WLan card and with Intel Pro/100 LAN card.
    So both are Intel chips.
Check the Toshiba European driver page again and try to install the drivers again!

  • Which is the best WLAN card for my lenovo x200 notebook?

    Hello!
I hope somebody could help for me. I bought a new Lenovo X200 notebook but it hasn't got WLAN card. So I have to buy a mini PCI-E WLAN card. In my notebook there is a webcam so I find only 2 wlan cable (1 black and 1 grey). The question is: witch is the best WLAN card for me?
    Intel 5100
    Intel 5300
    or
ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter
    Please help me.
I can use intel 5300 (it has 3 connection port) if I have only 2 cable?

On the Lenovo X200 support page you will find the X200 Hardware Maintenance Manual which lists all the parts in the X200.
You will find there that the 43Y6493 is Lenovo's Intel 5100.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

    hi Samberl
thanks a lot for the fast reply.
I was dragging folders from main folders on the laptop-desktop  onto the external drive icon - to copy them across....
Your suggestion sounds very promising -  I didn't know about 'cloning'.
Yes the idea is to backup the laptop -    I thought I would just move it all now, new - and then keep saving/dragging physically   across to the new drive myself each day or two...
Would this be the sizeof the internal hard drive = c.500 gb  ?   =   under the HD icon on desktop is written  :
    " 499.76gb , 311.5 gb free  "
I can erase and start agin on the new external drive - so this plan is to make two partititions, rather than the one at present, and make one of them 500 gb ?
I have found CCC [carbon copy cloner] googling - looks good.
When CCC site says it backs up  the hard drive - would this  mean all my files  [over 100 gb] that are mostly  in folders on the desktop, plus the others in itunes, iphotos etc found in the HD icon,  would all copy across successfully [wherever they are in the computer ]  ?
thanks again, hope you can clarify these things and then I will go for it.
It would be great and amazing if this 'lack of permission' message doesn't show up in the process of doing this ccc transfer - hopeful!
