Upgrading firmware on my wrt54gs v6

I have downloaded the upgrade file for my specific router, but when I try to run the file it says that it is corrupt-I am having difficulty getting my itouch to connect and was hoping this would solve the issue...can someone please help! Thanks.

You can not run the firnware(.bin) file.First of all make sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware based on the version no of  the router.
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the
'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Now reset your router : Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to 'Obtain IP Address Automatically' , disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page...

  • FAQ Broken: How do I upgrade the firmware on a WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router?

I tried to view the above question in the FAQ, but it goes to the answer for a different question.
I then tried "How do I upgrade the firmware on my router?" a little further down,
but it acts like I'm not authenticated, and won't accept my Linksys Forums e-mail address
and password. When I try the password recovery, it says my e-mail address is invalid.
Can someone please point me to instructions for upgrading the firmware on my WRT54G?
Specifically, someone told me that the router needs to be listening on the default 192.168.1.1
IP address, but mine is listening on 10.1.1.2. Do I need to change this just to flash new
firmware, because that will be a little painful.

  • WRT54G v1.0 Upgrading Firmware

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware for a WRT54G v1.0 (i think, it does not have a version # on the sticker).  I have downloaded the firmware (had to go thru a google cache to get to the link cuz linksys support page is down.)  I unziped the file. I did a hard reset (60.60.60).  Then I logged into my router (admin pass so I know the reset worked) went to "System>Firmware Upgrade>Upgrade" the dialog opened.  I then bowsed for the .bin file found it opened it and clicked "Upgrade".....nothing happend....waited....still nothing, no progress bar, nothing, nada, neah... whats up??
I can still access the router like normal and ect its just the upgrade dialog that seems broken.
    So, Any ideas??

  • WRT54g V6, constant disconnect.. 2 week old unit.. upgraded firmware -- what the..?

I upgraded firmware to the latest(november one). I reseted both router and cable modem and all 3 computer using it.
I've tried something like 100 MTU number, and I still get the same disconnection problems.. seems the power LED is blinking while I get disconnected.
it seems this is a pretty bad router, that gets overwhelmed when you download too much on two or more computer simultaneously.
all my computers are using WIRED connections.
I need help before I terminate this unit with a large wooden club.
really need help, if linksys doesnt want to lose a customer forever.
ps:also -- whats up with the cheap 2mb flash and 8mb ram on this version? earlier version of this unit had 4mb flash and 16mb ram.. im very sad to see you guys downgrading with higher version numbers.. nice marketing!

I mean I tried 100 different MTU number from 1500 to 1000, with nothing happening..
I've sent 3 emails to support, they all say they gonna answer within 24 hours and answer to all 3 of them within days.......

  • Is it necessary to be connected to wireless router/ap to upgrade firmware of WRE54G V1.0 ?

    Hey mike,
the static IP of 192.168.1.5 has to be assigned to one of the wireless PC's that you have....make sure that you assign the static IP to the "wireless network connection" . once you have done so....check if you are able to see the SSID of the WER54G..connect to that SSID...and then try to ping 192.168.1.240 from the command prompt...if you get replies...then try to upgrade the firmware.
Can someone walk me through the steps of assigning the static IP to the "wireless network connection" referred to in the last post? I would assume you would right click on My Network Places, then right click on the "wireless network connection", but give me the steps after that. I don't want to screw anything up. Also, is it necessary to turn the router off, or can I just temporarily disable the connection on my laptop?
    Thanks,

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • How to upgrade firmware on 7921g wireless phone from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 via USB

how to upgrade firmware on 7921g wireless phone from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 via USB?
The 7921g is connected via USB to a PC. I am using a browser to access the phone. Documentation says "Click the Phone Upgrade hyperlink under SYSTEM options. " but that option is not present or not visible.

You can use the Phone Upgrade area on the web page to upgrade firmware files on the phones by using the USB connection or by using the WLAN. To upgrade the phone software, enter the phone software TAR (firmware file name) or use the Browse button to locate the firmware file on the network.
To display the Phone Upgrade area, access the web page for the phone as described in the Accessing the Configuration Web Page for a Phone section available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7921g/5_0_1/english/administration/guide/21adm50.pdf

  • Error on trying to upgrade firmware on BEFW11S4-V2 ?

    Hi.
I am trying to upgrade the firmware on a BEFW11S4 V2 router. From the Set-up panel, the current firmware is 1.45, dated Feb 28, 2003.
I backed up the config. and downloaded the latest firmware:
     "BEFW11S4-V2_v1.45.10_fw.bin" from the Linksys website.
When I go to update the firmware from the router's Set-up .../Help .../Upgrade Firmware,
after selecting the above file, the update starts and goes for about 5-10 seconds and then fails with the messages:
    ..."Upgrade action is not finish!!
        Upgrade file pattern error"
        Continue
...which then returns me to the previous Upgrade Firmware page. Have I missed something??
    Also...
As background info. (before I forget), I run the router from an XP destop for connection to a DSL ISP and printers connected to the XP machine and for wireless access for a new Win7 Toshiba laptop. Everything seems to work fine so far, but I thought I should get on the latest firmware, eventhough the update would only be a currency update as the release notes don't seem to be an issue from a quick read.

I think you should reset the router first.
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the router Ethernet Port.
Download the latest firmware from the Linksys website.
Open the setup page of the router.
Upgrade the firmware using the .bin file which you have downloaded.
    Do not take the backup.
After successful upgrade, reset and reconfigure the router settings.
And see if that helps you.

  • Error when trying to upgrade firmware.

    Greetings.
I was updating the firmware for my WRT54G V5 (via wired connection), but suddenly the router stopped responding. Since then, the power light has been intermitent and I can't even try to connect to the router.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks in advance.

Here is another protocol that might help you.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1)  Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2)  Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3)  Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4)  Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5)  Power down the router.
    6)  Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7)  Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8)  Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9)  Try to ping the router.  To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.  A black DOS box will appear.  Enter the following:  "ping 192.168.1.1"  (no quotes), and hit the Enter key.  You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out."   If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10)  Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1.  This will take you to your router's login page.  Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin"  (with no quotes).   This will take you to your router setup page.  Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen).  Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt.  In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware.  After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, the version of your router, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10.  Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.
