You may want to have a look at this posting. Many owners of Xerox printers, mostly with Fiery print controllers, are having the same error with the lpd backend. The easiest solution for many was to retrieve the 10.6.7 version of the lpd backend from their time machine backup and replace the new 10.6.8 version. If you don't have a time machine backup (crazy practice when the app is built in) then a kind user has posted the file for others.

XEROX PHASER 5500 drivers kill all print services
Just got a XEROX PHASER 5500 on our network, most machines deal with it fine, but after installing drivers on a Dual 2.3 ghz G5 running OSX 10.4.8 it kills all print services. Trying to print or pdf from any application gives me a dialogue saying that it can't open printer. I have set it up seemingly correctly in the Print & Fax preference pane, and even once I disabled the printer and reconnected my old one, I still couldn't get it to work. I had to run the uninstaller from xerox to get printing up and running. Any suggestions? Or known problems with this printer? Thanks.

I allowed a System Update that included a Xerox Printer update. I am running a MacPro 10.6.8 with Quark 8.5.1 and a Xerox ColorQube 8700S. EVERY was working perfectly before the "update" but afterwards anything sent to the printer from Quark would stall the printer. I went to the Xerox website and downloaded their Printer Driver and tried again. Now I could print from Quark but I can NOT get to the printer window to change the type of paper, etc. So, the problem still persists.
Should I try going into Time Machine and trying to find the Xerox Print Driver in the Library folder?
Should I upgrade the whole system software? (I wouldn't mind doing that AFTER I get this magazine off to the commerical printer)
Should I upgrade to Quark 9?
Any help here would be apprciated.
Thanks - RobAs a general rule of thumb, I never install updates until I read its info and I am having problems with my current software. I hide the updates until I need them. Usually this happens when I update or upgrade my os. I don't fix what ain't broken is my golden rule.
It is possible that you need to update or upgrade Quark in order for your newer printer driver to work. First I would try the following....
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
If your printer does not work afterwards, update or upgrade Quark. If that does not work, contact the printer manufacturer. -
XEROX Print Drivers Cause Install Freeze on PowerMac G5
Tried to do a custom clean install on my dual 2.5 PowerMac by deselecting the drivers for printers I do not have, also deselected the languages and fonts I didn't need. Ran the installer and it froze three times at the same spot – unable to install Xerox print drivers.
Ran disk utility to verify the disk each time before the install, manually erased the drive as well.
Had to allow it to run the complete installation routine in order for it to complete.
Just thought I'd post my experience in case it saves others some time and frustration.stilltrying wrote:
Two weeks ago I did an install of Leopard to my Powermac G5. I upgraded from Panther. I have a 6 month old *Xerox Phaser 3100 MFP printer* hooked up to my mac via USB cable. Before I installed Leopard I could print PDFs with no problem.
Hi guys,
I also have a *Xerox Phaser 3100 MFP*: the device print well, but *the scanner don't work* with original xerox driver from xerom official support site.
And you, do you have been scanner option with Leopard?
And if yes, how?

After upgrading to lion I can use my printer HP Laserjet 1200
After upgrading to lion I can no longer print to the copier on our local network. Tried everything but did not work. Please help
If you just upgraded to Lion, you get 90 days of complimentary support, so don't be bashful. Call 'em. I called Apple support and they resolved this specific issue. We first verified that a newly created Admin account could create and edit Address Book. When it did, we rightly assumed corruption in the Address Book Library files.
Here are the steps from that point.
Back up your Address Book: From Address Book, choose File > Export and choose Export vCard to a desitnation of your choosing.
Close Address Book.
From the Desktop, Hold Option and click Go in the menu at the top of the screen.
Choose Library. If this is not an option, you are not pressing the Option key or you are not an Admin.
Expand the Application Support folder and drag the AddressBook folder to the Trash. Close window.
Open Address Book and import your address book vCard.
Lion has changes that remind me of Windows 2000 where folders are hidden even to Admins. Apple is purposefully hiding files and folders they don't think anyone should be seeing. If you want Admin priviledges you had in Leopard or earlier versions, you need to upgrade to a Root user...highly not recommended. -
After upgrading to windows 7, HP CP1215 only prints in black and white !! any Idea any one??
Connected to a Dell 1525 laptop via usb cableUnplug the printer, and uninstall it. Then download the Windows 7 CP1215 plug and play driver package from www.hp.com. Install the printer using that package.

HT4356 Can I use xerox printer with ipad?
I just got a new ipad is it possible to scan and then print it on my xerox printer?
Thank you in advance, cairnbergerHi cairnberger,
Some Lexmark printers support the AirPrint feature, you may check if your model is supported:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If your printer support network connection and not listed as AirPrint capable you may check the LexPrint app:
http://www1.lexmark.com/en_US/software/lexprint/index.shtml
For scanning I would rather check at Lexmarc communities if such a solution is available, the only feature I could find is the Lexmark app for Google Docs which allow scanning to the cloud:

I upgraded to Lion and now can't print PDF files and Acrobat reader doesn't work anymore. What can I do to get it working?
If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.
I know that Acrobat, full version, 10 works with Lion...use it myself. -
When i upgraded my ipad and reinstalled Ibooks, the print on my books is now so tiny i can barely read them. Any idea how to get my larger print back?
Media is not included in a backup. You should be able to resync them your copy of them on your computer's iTunes. If you haven't got your a copy of them then if they are still in the store, then you can re-download apps via the Purchased tab in the App Store, ibooks via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app, and (depending upon what country that you are in) potentially music, films and tv shows via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.
For podcasts you can download the Podcasts app -

Hello !
I have specific scenario here. My Application developer has created an online app wherein, there is link called "Print" , when clicked, opens a new tab with the to-be-printed matter BUT ALSO WITH A PRINT TAB. Now I dont what this PRINT DIALOGUE BOX but just the print tab.
The Developer isn't ready to modify his script. Is there a add-on, or a modification somewhere where in I can Kill this Print Dialogue box ?
Currently If I close the print dialogue box, it goes away, also the newly opened tab goes away.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for reading this.
Regards,
MaheshFirefox 3.0 and earlier versions had a preference '''print.use_native_print_dialog ; true''' which could be toggled to '''''false''''', but with Firefox 3.5 it was removed. When that pref was set to false the "print" command went directly to the printer, without the appearance of the dialog box.
It is possible to show a "printer-ready" window, because I see them frequently at many websites, so your developer needs to study up on how to display a "printer-ready" page and not trigger the appearance of the "native print dialog" box. Unfortunately, Firefox users no longer have control over the appearance of that dialog from within Firefox. -

How do I get print n share to work after upgrade to iOS 5. I can print from the app thru wifi and PC. However am unable to print mail, web pages, etc..
In mail when I try to print it just says can,t find air printers. It used to say print with print n share.I sent e-mail to developer regarding this and they said that basically Apple has denied them access to the Airprint dialog in the new source code for iOS 5. So, the only way to print to pdf is to capture the e-mail or webpage in the internal apps within Print n Share. INHO, this really *****. Apple should make printing to pdf files just a standard feature of all their apps. If they don't do this, they are going to lose alot of business to the Adroid world as pdf file format is the business standard for all documents.

Xerox printer pause after Lion install
After installing Lion (10.7), I cannot print to my Xerox Phaser 6110MFP. The printer job goes to pause.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ham...that fixed it for me! I remember before Lion I was printing LPR ...don't know why the Lion install changed things but it did (even tho' I had set up via Bonjour the first time around, everything worked just fine prior to Lion.)
What I did now was to delete my print queue and re-add the Xerox Phaser 6280...I had to choose to add "OTHER printer" first after choosing to add another printer (by clicking on the plus sign) then proceeded as follows:
1. Select IP Printing from the first pull-down menu.
2. Select LPD/LPR from the second pull-down menu.
3. Enter the printer’s IP address in the Printer Address field.
4. Verify that the Queue Name field is blank.
5. Select the correct Xerox printer driver/corresponding PPD file from the pull-down menu.
6. Click the Add button. The printer is added to the list.
I also put my IP address into the "Location" field - don't know if I was supposed to or not but everything works 100% now:) -
Job Packaging for Xerox Printer
Hi,
I have set of files, which need to be sent to Xerox Printer through TCP/IP. I have to do this through java. The catch is that I cannot send these files one after another, I have to package it and submit it as one Job to the Printer. If I don't submit as one job then it will get mixed with other incoming jobs or some files may be lost. I was not able to find any third party java packages, which can package the jobs and give output in PostScript files that can be sent to Xerox printer. Please let me know if anyone know a better way to do this.
Regards,
VaidyaDear Tobias,
SAP's print device type support's strategy is called PVP (Printer Vendor Program). Mainstream printer manufacture can participate into it, and SAP leave the device development work to them. So you need to choose proper Xerox's device type.
Xerox just became a PVP member recently, so the device types for SAP are not finished yet. You can find in note Note 1135054:
'The Fuji Xerox device types are still under development.'
But you can contact Xerox by http://www.xeroxofficesapsolutions.com
For barcode printing on Xerox's printer, you can also find
'Xerox Intelligent Barcode Printing Solutions' in the website.
Hope this helps.

Rafael
