Uploading Access split database to Sharepoint Site.

Hi, I'm having trouble finding instructions on how exactly you would upload a split database to SharePoint. If I split my database locally i can't then move the back end.
I want to upload my the back end of the Access database to "mysitesname".sharepoint.com I have full admin privileges but the only place I see to upload a file is the "shared documents" area of the site which I presume would only be useful
for hosting the front end for users to download. Trying to split the database to the site by using it's URL "https://"mysitesname".sharepoint.com/SitePages/Home.aspx" nd variations results in access telling me the site could not be reached.
I'm sure this is something simple to do and I'm just missing some critical piece of information.

Thank you for the reply but I'm not using a web database or web app. I should have mentioned I solved the problem yesterday.
A split database is simpler than I thought, mine is just a standard access database with linked tables. You share your file (front end) around and the back end is just a bunch of SharePoint lists if you are using SharePoint or an access file containing tables
if using a file server.
My problem was that I couldn't upload my back end to SharePoint. I ended up making my tables into SharePoint lists and uploading those to my personal SharePoint folder as the team site didn't allow me to upload them.

I have a user requesting to publish access (2007/2010) web database into SharePoint 2013. I am able to publish this database on all sites under one site collection (test) but fails on the other site (different site collection). I have compared site collection

    Hi MK,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published Access database to SharePoint 2013.
Please deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features at site collection level and deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features at site level, then activate them again, compare the result.
Per the error message, please type a value in the ‘Name’ filed, then publish the table, compare the result.
In addition, here is a similar article, please check whether it is useful for you:

  • User has appropriate permission, still not able to access one of the sharepoint site applications.

    Hi,
I have tried all solutions available on internet regarding this problem but none seems to work.
As per one solution I added the user in sharepoint site collection administrator group still no luck!
As per another solution  I tried to run “User Profile Service Application Proxy – User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization”
“User Profile Service Application Proxy – User Profile to SharePoint Quick Synchronization”
but they dont run for some reason. Both these jobs are scheduled to run everyday but last time they ran was some date in 2011. When I click on Run Now nothing happens.
I deleted all cache, forms password history everything.  Added the site in trusted sites and all. No luck!
User also tried to access the site by logging onto another system but still same issue.
This user recently joined alongwith a few more people. All of them are able to access the site except this particular user. So, a web part or unpublished page cant be the reason, right?
This user is only able to access the home page which is say http://<siteurl:1234> application while the site which this user is not able to access is
    http://<siteurl:2345>.
I even tried to give access through sharepoint designer but no luck! Please help!
PS: This may not be relevant but still I'm sharing. Earlier I used to add users in manage user profiles - new profile. But now as soon as the user is added into active directory there profile is getting created automatically. This might be happening due to
active directory and user profile sync but the question is how? Because I dont remember configuring this. And it was not configured earlier too.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that only one user cannot access the site even though he has the right permission.
I recommend to verify the things below:
Check the permission of the user in the site to see if the permission is right.
Is http://<siteurl:2345> a new site collection ? Can the user access other pages except the home page in
    http://<siteurl:1234>?
Grant needed permission to the user in the web application to see if the issue still occurs.
Delete the user and re-add the user in AD to see if the issue still occurs.
Check the ULS log for detailed error message.
    Best regards.

    Hi,
In DNS create a short name from which you want access sharepoint.
Assign it the same IP address as of SharePoint Machine.
Than in SharePoint central Administration Change the Alternate access mapping for your web application.

  • Access Database in sharepoint 2013

We have a new server here at work.  One of the virtual servers on this server has an installation of sharepoint 2013.  I have installed and configured many previous installations of sharepoint, 2013 is quite the different animal and I am working
through trying to figure out how to set it up and use if for our company.
A fellow employee was setting up an access 2013 database of our staff who does all of our construction.  We were successfully able to publish this access database to the sharepoint server from with in the Access 2013 environment.
I am in sharepoint and I don't see the list that represents the access database.  Am I missing something here on how to make it display?

When you publish a web database, Access Services creates a SharePoint site that contains the database. All of the database objects
and data move to SharePoint lists in that site.

  • Unable to export data from Web Access Data Sheet in Sharepoint to local excel or access file

    Greetings and good morning.
I'm going to start off in broad terms with this question because I'm not 100 percent sure what information to provide.
Long story short, we've got a Web Access Data Sheet list hosted in a Sharepoint 2010 environment. It is accessed and used by multiple people throughout the day. It contains several thousand line item entries. I'd call it a large data sheet.
I think the size of the data sheet is casuign some instability in the list. I'd like to be able to export a defined range of data from the list into a local excel or access file. After that, I'd delete the stuff on the Access list to improve performance.
But...when I attempt to use the Sharepoint Action bar to export - Excel locks up/crashes. If I try to export to Access, I get a similar issue.
Any ideas? Could anyone begin by telling me what other information is required?

    Hi,
If you would like to export data from Access Web Database in SharePoint 2010, you could go to Design With Access page in Settings. The url in my environment is http://sp/tt/_layouts/accsrv/ModifyApplication.aspx . Then choose the Table and export it to Excel
    or Modify it in Access.

We have already added the certificate used for the SharePoint site and the provider hosted app in the SharePoint central admin trusts.
Any idea's how can I resolve this issue?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to access provider host app using https.
The reason for this is that SharePoint implements its own certificate validation policy to override .NET certificate validation.
Fix is to setup a trust between SharePoint and the server requiring certificate validation.
For more information, you can refer to:

  • Moving Access Services database

I'm sure this must be simple... but I'm having trouble finding any references to it.
Once I have synced an Access Web Database with SharePoint 2010 Access Services, how can I remove it from that SharePoint implementation and attach it to another SharePoint? I've tried making this happen from both SharePoint and Access, but there appears
to be no 'detach' option from either end.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hello Jim Henderson NZ,
Thanks for your question. I think your question might get a better answered in the SharePoint 2010 - Setup, Upgrade, Administration and Operation forum. Let me make sure I understand your question correctly.
You're inquiring about moving your service application you created in central admin that ties all your Access content together? Based on this documentation it does not seem possible.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff621100.aspx
The listed service applications that can be published are:
Business Data Connectivity, Managed Metadata, User Profile, Search, Secure Store, Web Analytics.
If I'm understanding your question correctly I can move you to that forum. Otherwise, please give me a bit more information so I can further assist you.

  • Adding Multiple files to many Sharepoint Sites based on the Sites Code (Splitting the data using a code)

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to Sharepoint and wanted to ask a question to see if it can actually do what we need it to do.
We would have a top Site within a collection and under this we would have 400 sites for different sections of the business (External) Lots of teams create documents for all these sites and use the Code of the site in each document so we know what business
site its going to. For example 67890_BusinessReportMay.docx We know this document should be heading to site 67890
We have lots of services sending data to these 400 business sites. If we were to do them manually it would take most of our time to go to each site and upload the documents, even if we could do all the sites documents in 1 multiple upload. We still have
to go to each site to do it
Is there an easy answer to this? At present I have folders to match each of the 400 Sharepoint Sites and I use an Integration Services package to move all the documents into these 400 Matching folders. I do this using the Code at the start of each file name.
If it doesn't have a code its put into an error folder and reported back on.
Then I want something to automatically go through each of these folders and load them into the Sharepoint Sites document libraries.
    OR
Say you have 600 files all going to the 500 sites on Sharepoint in one folder. The File contains meta data regarding the Sites Code.  Using this you can split the files and automatically pull them across to the Sharepoint Sites without having to go
    into each Sharepoint Site?
I'm thinking that you cant do this and I'm hoping I'm wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Debbie

    Hi Debbie,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to move the documents to different sites based on the code in the name of the files.
I recommend to create workflow and set the workflow to start when an item is created to achieve this goal.
As there is no built-in action which can move the documents cross site, we need to use the custom activity 'Copy List Item Extended' which need to be downloaded from
    http://spdactivities.codeplex.com/.
Please per the steps in the link below to deploy the custom activity to SharePoint:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/82609160-152f-461a-9a19-0e996f5a309b/sharepoint-2010-archiving-the-files-from-one-document-library-to-another-document-library-in
After that, we can create a workflow to meet the need.
Here is the detailed steps to create the workflow:
Create a column in single line of text type(called NO for example) in the library where the documents are uploaded, and input value manually in the column to store the code when uploading the documents. (We can also use workflow to extract the code from
the name of the documents if the codes are always 5 numbers.)
Create a workflow associated with the library and set the workflow to start when an item is created.
Select If current item field equals value, change the settings to be If Current Item: NO equals 67890.
Select Copy List Item Extended, change the settings to be Copy item in Current Item to list at site 67890 URL.
Select Delete Item, change the settings to be Delete Item in Current Item.
Create other conditions from step 3 to step 5 to copy the documents to different sites and delete current documents.
    Best regards.

  • Cant upload large files to Sharepoint site through S-160 proxy

Hi, I've got the following setup in our Windows AD infrastructure. Client admin websites hosted in our dmz, whose url is accessed via an externally hosted DNS reference. I've built up an Ironport S-160 to replace a defrunct Bluecoat and have trouble uploading files larger than 40kb to the admin sites via Sharepoint. After a while the connection times out saying the max size limit has been exceeded, however sharepoint is set to a maximum for 50mb uploads.
The S-160 is using NTLMSSP as it's authentication scheme on the global identity policy and I've created an authentication exemption identity for the sharepoint admin sites. But from what I can determine the only way you can upload is to set the authentication on the admin sites to basic, which means you would be transmitting your login credentials in clear text over the internet.
Has anyone an idea how i can persuade the S-160 to authenticate to the admin sites, whilst using NTLMSSP and not using basic authentication? I found this url (http://serverfault.com/questions/101127/couldnt-upload-files-to-sharepoint-site-while-passing-through-squid-proxy) which detailed a similar problem but they decided to use basic + ssl which I think is still a bad idea.

Come on! Surely there is someon out there who has run into this problem before?

  • 403 Forbidden Error while trying to access External SharePoint site Via Client Object Model

    Hi,
I am accessing the External SharePoint site from an intranet. When I try to access local sharepoint site in my intranet via Client object model to upload few documents into a library, it works perfectly fine without any issues.
But when I try to do the same (upload few docs ) to an external SharePoint 2010 site out of my intranet from my intranet, I get 403, forbidden error. It looks like there is some issue with login credentials of this site. But when I try to navigate to the
site URL in Visual studio  2010, it asks for credentials and takes me to home page.
I supplied the credentials in different forms like
    ctx.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain");
    and
    clientContext.AuthenticationMode = ClientAuthenticationMode.FormsAuthentication;
    and
    FormsAuthenticationLoginInfo formsAuthInfo = new FormsAuthenticationLoginInfo("MyUser", "MyPassword");
    clientContext.FormsAuthenticationLoginInfo = formsAuthInfo;
but nothing seems working and I get the Same 403 error. What am I missing here?
    Thanks,
    K.V.N.PAVAN

    Hi Pal,
Thanks for posting your query, Just try to add credentials to your clientContext object as mentioned below
    NetworkCredential credentials =
         new NetworkCredential("username", "pwd", "domain");
    clientContext .Credentials = credentials;
    or use
    clientContext.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;
I hope this will be helpful to you, If this works, Please mark it as Answered.
