Upstream and Downstream Server Configuration Issues
Hello
We're trying to configure an upstream and downstream server infrastructure. We believe that we have this configured and working properly but our issue is that local clients and servers are appearing on the downstream server and not the upstream server.
It would be useful for all clients to be managed from the upstream server to reduce administration time.
We manually assign computers to groups and use Group Policy to specify the client configuration. The client and server settings have these keys specified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUServer Type: REG_SZ Data: (Downstream Server)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUStatusServer Type: REG_SZ Data: (Upstream Server)
To me, this should mean that clients only get updates from the downstream server and are conmpletely managed from the upstream server but maybe it doesn't work that way?
All downstream servers are set to replicas.
Can anyone help? I'm sure you shouldn't have to assign every client to group at downstream level. I have thought about using GPO to assign to groups but it would be complicated with our structure due to testing containers and I think I would
have the same result.
Basically, I would like to assign computers to groups from all sites using the upstream server only.
Thanks in advance,
Luke
our issue is that local clients and servers are appearing on the downstream server and not the upstream server.
Number one cause associated with this symptom is not enabling Reporting Rollup on the upstream server in Options->Reporting Rollup.
It would be useful for all clients to be managed from the upstream server to reduce administration time.
This won't happen in any case. Clients are managed from the WSUS server they are assigned to. You can, however, register more than one WSUS server in the WSUS console and manage multiple WSUS servers from a single console.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUServer Type: REG_SZ Data: (Downstream Server)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
Name: WUStatusServer Type: REG_SZ Data: (Upstream Server)
This is not correct, but it's not a critical issue since "WUServer" is set correctly. The WUA is just ignoring the incorrect value for "WUStatusServer". Both of these strings should be set to the same value -- the assigned WSUS server.
To me, this should mean that clients only get updates from the downstream server and are conmpletely managed from the upstream server but maybe it doesn't work that way?
It doesn't.
Basically, I would like to assign computers to groups from all sites using the upstream server only.
Not an option. You have two choices with replica servers:
Assign the group memberships from the assigned replica server.
Assign the group memberships via Group Policy.

What is upstream and downstream in an IS Oil?
Hi,
Its a very basic question? Actually i am working for a oil co implementation? Si i cam to the site looking for some clues/ best practices on the oil/ gas implementations.
what is this upstream and downstream in an IS Oil implementation? I have not come across this term earlier in a sap implementation.
Is this specific to oil gas industry? may be my implementation does not have a upstream downstream concept..
please advise.
regardsHi Rajiv,
Stream is determined by the flow of material.
UpStream :- In Oil and Gas industry initial investment is very high for locating the source for crude oil and then getting the permission for the government of the country where that source lies and then extraction of the oil. a company all along can not bear that expanse so it involves big join ventures ... and in this if you notice then the material (crude oil) is following up .. i.e. from underground source to refineries .. this is called up streams and this covers join venture accounting, and all the finance related stuffs. for more detail on this check out this link
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil472/helpdata/en/ec/9d2c3adcc8431be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Downstream :- This includes the refinement, storage, transportation, measurement and retail of final oil and gas product ......
In existing core R/3 sales and distribution a lot of changes has been done for down stream oil and gas functionality. for more detail in this please check out this link :
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil472/helpdata/en/09/c7183619b5a45ee10000009b38f889/frameset.htm.
Thanks.

Have a client that requires detailed dispatch information for upstream and downstream lot based jobs in Shop Floor Management module. Also visibility into capacity for a department or resource. Is this possible using only Shop Floor Management
Post here or contact [email protected]Hi,
I just went through the same problem. Don't know if it is still open.
In customizing under "Project System"->"Structures"->"Operative Structures"->"Network"->"Printing in Networks" you will find entry "Recommendations for printing and print control". There it is stated that the number of time tickets or number of confirmation slips entered for the activity is greater than zero.
Check in transaction OPS0 if you have set the number of prints greater than zero in menu point "List control for transactions (double clic on the entry). -
Database Adapter and SQL Server procedure issue
Hello,
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.7.0 and SQL Server 2005.
In the Database Adapter configuration wizard, Specify Stored Procedure step, I choose the “GEACupax” schema and got the following error after a click on “Procedure Browse” button:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Invalid object name 'GEACUPAX.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SCHEMATA'.
The command Database Adapter tried to execute was:
(from jdev log:) select schema_name from GEACUPAX.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SCHEMATA order by schema_name;
Note, the schema name has changed to uppercase. I think that is the problem. If I try this query in SQLDeveloper, it returns the same error. I can fix it changing the schema name to “GEACupax”. The case matters.
Any ideas?
Leandro.Vijay,
Thanks for you reply.
I figure out a related bug:
Bug 12859472: Cannot browse store procedure in case-sensitive MS SQL Database
There are two possible workarounds:
1. Use a database name with capital letters
2. Do not use stored procedures, but access the tables directly.
The notes on the Bug ticket describes that the issue would be scheduled to be fixed in PS7 which is 11.1.1.8.
Cheers!

I am facing issue with TXN (si24_csconfig) configuration of newly installed content server.
It flash error "error occured while creating depositories"
Please note that this transaction will go on for some work if i try administrator user, which is the user for NT server where content server is installed. With any other user it again prompt for password and will not move forward untill I provide this user-pwd.
When I check in txn slg1 log following is the error message:

RegardsHi Subathra,
From the
document, we can know that “Starting with the SQL Server 2012 release, the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not designed to manage SharePoint mode report servers. SharePoint mode is managed and configured by using SharePoint Central Administration
and PowerShell scripts.” It means that the Reporting Services Configuration Manager (2012) is no longer required or supported to configure and administer Reporting Services SharePoint mode. We should use SharePoint Central Administration and PowerShell scripts
to configure this.
For more details about how to install Reporting Services 2012 SharePoint Mode for SharePoint 2013, we can refer to the following articles:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219068.aspx
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/biblog/archive/2012/12/04/installing-and-configuring-sql-reporting-services-on-sharepoint-2013.aspx
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

OraOledb, Linked Servers and SQL Server 2005 issues
Some issues I've come across when using SQL Server 2005 (and SQL Server Express 2005), the OraOLEDB provider (10.2.0.1) and a linked Oracle database (8.1.7.4.0 64-bit)
1) You must set the OraOledb.Oracle\AllowInProcess value to 1 to allow the OraOledb provider to run in SQL Server's process. Without doing this I receive an 'unspecified error' from the OLE DB provider when attempting to run a query
2) When running a ' select * ' query across a linked server using the provider, I receive the following error: Msg 9803, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid data for type "numeric". I can, however, select all of the columns by name and the query completes (no error). Sometimes the 'select *' query returns a few rows before the error, sometimes it doesn't. The Microsoft Provider for Oracle does not have this problemOkay... I've got a Win2K3 Std Ed server (x64) running 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. I've installed the Oracle 10g 10.2.1 full client and admin tools, added two named services via the NetConfig assistant, and successfully set up (and tested) a connection via the ODBC Administrator to an Oracle database.
Now... when I try to create a new connection manager in SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, the OLEDB provider for Oracle can't be found, and when I try to manually add an underlying OLEDB connection to the database, SQL Server reports:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle.1' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Does anyone know what I need to do to see my ODBC Server data connections in SQL Server 2005 (64 bit)? I don't have this issue on my 32-bit SQL Server 2005 servers. -
WPA2 and Radius server configuration
On the page: http://cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008054339e.shtml
is described how to setup a WPA2 and Radius server.
If I follow this, the Radius server does not work. In the document they descibe that I need to use 10.0.0.1 as the IP, but my AP has a 192.168.1.251 address. Even if I enter that adres, or the 10.0.0.1, it does not work.
Normal WPA2 personal, without Radius does work.
I use a 1100 series AP, (AIR-AP1120B-E-K9) with a AIR-MP21G and the firmware of the radio module is 5.90.11.
The IOS version is 12.3(8)JA2.
Does anyone know what to do?
HaikHello,
I understand that. I have given the AP a fixed address, 192.168.1.251. This is outside the DHCP pool, from the router.
Even if I use this address in th Radius configuration, it still does not work. My client (laptop with Intel Pro Wireless 2200 card), detects that there is a Radius server, and asks for a username / password.
But even if I fill it in correctly (copy / paste) it does not work.
So what can be wrong with this configuration?

Application Server Configuration Issue - Issuing commands on the UNIX OS
Hi. The Forms folks thought it might be good to post my issue here as they believe my issue might be with the configuration of the application server. So here goes....
Hi. I'm running Forms 10g on UNIX (newbie). My first attempt at the Host command is this (in a when-button-click trigger):
cl := 'ls -ltr > /ttms/flatfile/steve_test.txt';
message (cl);
message (cl);
host(cl);
I know the code is running. My message displays the 'cl' variable exactly as I would execute it from the UNIX command line, but my text file is never created. There are no errors and the form runs as I would anticipate...just no file created.
If I issue the same command after having logged into the UNIX box then the file is created just fine.
Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?Hi Buechler,
I think indeed this a Forms forum issue. As you might know, the host command is executed on the server where Forms is installed, not the client. Also, the host command is executed as user ORACLE instead of Window's SYTEM user.
When you're doing your "cl := 'ls -ltr > /ttms/flatfile/steve_test.txt';". In which directory are you in? Do you have read-privileges to that directory? Do you have write-privileges to the /ttms/flatfile/ directory?

OraOledb for 64-bit, Linked Servers and SQL Server 2005 issues
Our environment is : SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003, 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems.
Problem on 64-bit operating system box: (32-bit works fine).
I am trying to access Oracle 10g database using linked server from our SQL Server 2005. In case of number fileds i got the following error:
Invalid data for type "numeric".
After going through one of the posting in this forumn i was able to resolve the problem by converting those column values to char while querying and then converting them back to numeric type on SQL server side.
But today i ran into another problem. There is a VARCHAR2 column. I was able to retrieve the data yesterday for that column but today i am getting a blank recordset. If i exclude the colum from the query then i am getting all the rows.
I am querying against a view and it has got a number of columns whose data type is VARCHAR2.
Again the problem is on 64-bit operating system only. We have a 32-bit operating system on which i am able to retrieve the data including this column. I looked at the data and everything looks OK. No funny characters etc.
I tried workarounds like using cast, to_char, checking for nulls etc., Nothing works.
Any help is greately appreciated. Thanks.Did you find a resolution for this? We have similar problem. Set up a linked server in SQL 2006 to Oracle (running on Windows 64-bit) Linked server works and views I had set up were working but they added some new data in the Oracle test database I am using and now I get errors on one of the views.
Error I am getting on the view is "Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB Provider "OraOLDEDB.ORacle" for the linked server"
If I fine tune my queries to find the specific table or view that is at issue, then I get the error "inconsistent metadata for a column" -
SharePoint 2010 and SQL Server 2012 issue
Hi,
I have SharePoint 2010 integrated with SQL Server 2008 R2 in my machine. I wanted to use Power View feature, so I went for SQL Server 2012 installation. Now when I try to create the SQL Server Reporting service service application, it says, this feature
is not supported by current version of database.
Please let me know how to fix the issue. Do I need to reinstall SharePoint 2010 once again using SQL Server 2012 ?
thanks
Tariquehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/9eacbd00-f264-4f55-bd27-55cf0761cbd7/power-view-is-not-supported-in-this-edition-of-reporting-services?forum=sharepointadmin
The only requirements for SSRS Integrated mode/PowerView are that you're using SharePoint Enterprise and SQL Enterprise/BI and that SharePoint be installed and joined to the farm on the server where you're also installing SSRS.
You need to reconfigure your sharepoint farm farm to use SQL server 2012

Snow Leopard and Exchange 2007 Configuration Issues
I know this topic may have been covered in here previously but I have yet to find a solution.
Here is the background. Our CEO has a Mac Book and two weekends ago he updated to Snow Leopard and now wants to use the Mail client on his Mac rather than OWA to get his email. We have Exchange 2007 (I am the Admin) and have all the latest patches and Roll Ups installed. We run OWA without issue and have 10 iPhones working perfectly (i realized they use different technology to sync). I enabled EWS by following this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201695.aspx and this is the actual command i used:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -identity exchaname\EWS* -externalurl https://webmail.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx -BasicAuthentication:$True
Seems to have run properly and there are no errors reported.
Now when I go to connect using the Mac it does not Auto Discover and I must enter manually. I enter what i think it needed and its not working. On the Account Information Tab I have the following:
Description: generic name
Email Address: [email protected]
Full Name: The Person's Name
Internal Server: webmail.domain.com *Not sure what should be here
External Server: Webmail.domain.com *Again not sure if this is correct
Username: AD user name Also tried domain\username
Password: AD password
Ougoing Mail Server: not sure what should be here
Next is the Mailbox behavior Tab:
Did not change anything
Advanced Tab:
Internal Server Path: EWS/Exchange.asmx
Port:80 SSL unchecked
External Server: EWS/Exchange.asmx
Port: 80 SSL unchecked
I get no connections and I am sure somehting is not correct in the above but I am lost and new to Exchange as it is. Also new to Mac's
Help PleaseWe are already using webmail.domain.com for our OWA URL, well actually it is webmail.domain.com\OWA. Would I need one for the EWS & Autodiscover to use webmail.domian.com\ews?
We have rules in the firewall for Exchange and OWA. Would we need another for this?
