Urgent! Change Descriptive FlexField Prompt

Hi!
I need to hide & change prompt for fields that are retrieved from Descriptive FlexField. Personalization need to be done for one responsibility.
Hiding can be done easly with Segment List.
Is there any way how I can change prompt for one responsibility.

Hugo,
To my understanding you should not be able to control the Text for various segments without changing the Flexfield definition. And if you do that it gets affected for all responsibilities.
As a suggestion you can use a Context specific to a responsibility and may be use the same combination of segments for the context. Finally data gets stored in same columns, but since u define the context separately you should be able to provide different name.

I see that it has added comments in these view columns :

Now I disable those value codes in the descriptive flexfield from System Administrator and add two new context values.
Which program should I run to reflect these changes in HRFG_EMPLOYEE_ASSIGNMENTS view?

Unfortunately Microsoft decided to make things complicated in 2010. Resource.Assignment.Text1 is not the same as Task.Assignment.Text1.
As far as I know, VBA is the only solution. I would run the code in the before_save event.

Updating PO Lines Descriptive Flexfield

We're currently still on R11.5.10.2 and we're customizing the Purchase Orders form by adding an option under the Tools menu to mass update several different fields. One of the fields happens to be a descriptive flexfield on the PO line. We're able to update the DFF, but the actual updated value doesn't seem to be reflected/displayed after we perform the update. If we cursor and tab to the DFF and open it up, it actually has the updated value, but when we close the DFF field, it still displays the old value. We've tried different calls to see if we can refresh the displaying of DFF, but no luck. How can we customize to accomplish this in the form?

It's a straight update to the base table from the PO form. We're just assigning the values to the DFF (in this case, ATTRIBUTE1) and let the form update the record. When we assign the value to the ATTRIBUTE1 field, we cannot see this change right away. If we tab to the DFF, the latest value is there. And when we tab out of it, the latest value is not being reflected. In other words, the DFF is not displaying the latest value. It is only after you save the data that it displays the updated value. I was hoping that there may be some API related call to DFF that we can make to display the change right away before the data is saved, but I'm not able to get this to work within the form.

Journal Import - Import Descriptive Flexfield = Yes

Hi Gurus,
If i run the Journal Import - Program with Import Descriptive Flexfield parameter = 'Yes'.
Will it allow if a descriptive flex field is null.
I do not want to import the Journals if the Attribute1 is NULL. Kindly help me with the best way of doing this..

I wont be able to comment on it with certainity.
You can perform a trial and error run by doing the following:
1st case: i would recommend you to run the Jounral Import by setting the Descriptive Flexfield Import as Yes and with validations and without making the changes in the code.
2nd case: i would recommend you to run the Jounral Import by setting the Descriptive Flexfield Import as Yes and with validations and by making the changes in the code.
Compare the results of the two scenario above and make changes accordingly if required, However prior to making the changes please consult it with a technical resource to get his thoughts on the same.
Also you can evaluate what validations are provided by Oracle while importing the DFF since may be that you dont have to anything else apart from your side and Oracle standard code can take care of the same.

Changing descriptive flex field value

I have looked and looked through the flexfield functions in the administrative responsibilities and cannot find the field I'm looking for to change the label for a flexfield. The navigation path to get to the flexfield is below:
AR RECEIVABLES MANAGER responsibility > COLLECTIONS > CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS > ENTER CUST # and find > CLICK CUSTOMER BUTTON > CLICK DFF FIELD IN UPPER RIGHT TO VIEW FLEXFIELDS
Can someone tell me how I can find the descriptive flexfield's name (Help->Diagnostics maybe?) and search for this thing to change it? Which fields do I need to search for in which form? I have tried searching everything I know to search.

Let me try to help you.
Why I did was drilled down to DFF in Application Developer Responsibility.
1) Flexfields --> Descriptive --> Register.
2) Query for "Receivables" in Application Field and "Customer Information" in the Title field.
If you wana see the segments for the particular DFF
1) Flexfields --> Descriptive --> Segments.
2) Query for "Receivables" in Application Field and "Customer Information" in the Title field.
3) Segments Button. Before you change the name the segment or add additional segment Uncheck Freeze Flexfield Definition

Corrupt change description in redo log

i am running oracle91 on sunos sun4u
it runs on Noarchivelog mode
the server started restarting itself today about 4 times
the last restart,to start the database i noticed that the database only mounted without opening, showing the following error:
ORA-00399: Corrupt change description in redo log
ORA-00353: log corruption near block 1576 change 18906724807 time 04/02/2008 16:30:14
ORA-00312: Online log 1 thread 1: '/data1/oradata/<sid>/redo01.log
should i do log switch and delete redo01.log and then add another redo01.log.

Contact Oracle support immediately. They are your only real hope because you will need some customized approach to recovery based on your specific situation.
I do hope you are prepared to loose data or have a logically corrupt database, however.

No concatenated descriptive flexfield value to validate.

After adding another Descriptive Flexfield, pointing to ATTRIBUTE19 in GL JE LINES ('Enter Journals:Lines'), the ADI Templates are giving me Warnings as 'No concatenated descriptive flexfield value to validate.', with a YELLOW face on all the ADI rows.
It never gave any kind of Warning before these changes (Adding / Enabling ATTRIBUTE19 length 50 in the Descriptive Flex field of GL Lines ).
Users are not happy with these messages.
Please advice me why am I getting the error and what I can do to fix this Warning.

Hi Nel,
use a Pair type value set to achieve this. This value set should be attached to both the DFF Item Low and DFF Item High DFF attributes.
You can refer to seeded value set CST_SRS_ITEM_PAIR.
For this Pair value set the functions are define dlike this:

Header of a Descriptive Flexfield

Hi all,
I've created a descriptive flex in my page but the text I set in Prompt property doesn't appear in runtime. The user wants to have a header saying "Additional Shipment Information" before their custom attributes. Do I have to create a header region explicitly and put my flex item inside it in order to get this result or there is an option or property missing??
The problem of create explicitly a header region is that it would appear even is the user disable the flex.

I put this in my processRequest. I need to hide the header when the descriptive flexfield is disabled but the dffBean.isRendered() call always returns true.

Automatically populate a Descriptive FlexField with Default Value

I have 2 Descriptive flexfield segments defined, one is "Start Date" using value set "LS_START_DATE" and the other segment is "End Date" using value set "LS_END_DATE".
Now when I enter the "Start Date", I want the "End Date" to be populated automatically with the value of "Start Date + 365 days".
For example:
If I enter "Start Date" = 25-May-2010
Then "End Date" should be automatically populated with the value "25-May-2011" (i.e., Start Date + 1 year)
Is that possible ?
I tried defining "End Date" segment with "Default Type" as "SQL Statement" and Default Value as "SELECT :$FLEX$.Start Date+365 from dual" , but it's not working.
Can someone please help ?

I did, the value set created for this segment "Start Date" is "LS_START_DATE" and I changed the sql statement in Default Value to "SELECT :$FLEX$.LS_START_DATE+365 from dual" , but still it is not working ....no luck.

Item categories descriptive flexfield

Hi,
I want to change item categories descriptive flexfield on production system and add two more segments.
Should I do it after no user would be working on inventory or there would be no problem in adding or chnaging descriptive flexfield in live systen?

There is always a small chance that a user who happens to be updating the category may get an error if you do it during day-time.
So try it in off-hours.
You said "descriptive" but I assume you mean the "key" flexfield for categories.
If you add 2 segments, it is important that you update existing categories and make sure they are valid with the new structure.
Also, if those old categories were used in Purchasing, you may get errors.

Organization DESCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELD

I created one Organization DESCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELD record for Business Group, compilation is done but newly created record is not appearing when Other button is pressed on BG form. Am I missing any thing or some security or registration etc is required? Please help.

A few points here:
The DFF you are trying to use/change is DDF (developer descriptive Flex Field). Note that there is a difference between DDF and DFF. DDFs are for exclusive use of Oracle development. Oracle never encourages you to use this Flex field for customer specific details. Instead, you should use the DFF provided in the organization form itself.
When you press others in the Organization screen, it shows only those values which are available for the organization classification currently selected. Hence I think, if you insert a record in the table hr_org_info_by_class for your classification, you should be able to see it in the LOV when you press others.
But, I repeat, this is not advisable. Oracle Support may not support it, if in future you run into any issue because of this change. Just check with them before going ahead with the changes you want to make.

Thank you Fadi. I am trying to reload DFFs using FNDLOAD utility from DEV instance to TEST instance. As the flexfields are already there, it does not appear to be reloading them (no error messages in the FNDLOAD log though), because I don't see the DFFs being updated with the latest changes.
So, I was thinking if I delete the existing ones, maybe it will reload correctly. But, if I cannot delete the existing DFFs, there is no way to get them corrected, other than manually doing it on the TEST environment.

A FLEXFIELD IS A FIELD MADE UP OF SUB–FIELDS, OR SEGMENTS. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF FLEXFIELDS: KEY FLEXFIELDS AND DESCRIPTIVE FLEXFIELDS.
KEY FLEXFIELDS:

Can you tell what to selelect in application and page popup which comes after selecting Enhance component button. Actually i tried but i am not able to add new record in conf.

Change description of Bex Workbook in 2004s

How do we change description of the workbooks? Change description option from Bex analyzer is not available.
How would one move or copy a query / workbook from a role to another role ( There was an option with 3.5 in Bex browser and Bex Analyzer)
Option of saving a workbook and query to a role from Bex Analyzer > Open screen is not available
