Urgent - Crash/hang in WL impacting production environment

Sunil,
I think your problems could be hardware related. Make sure there is enough memory on the box on which the server is running. Do you ever restart the server. Clean up JSP class files in the myserver directory. Make sure you are not leaving any open connections to the database. These are just a few things you shuould verify .

Hi,
This is regarding some serious WL crashes that we are seeing in our
production environment. Before I detail out the problem, here is our
operation environment -
WL 4.5.1 SP 13 on Windows NT 4.0 SP 5
Execute thread count = 30
JDBC connection pool = 25 min, 100 max.
JDBC driver = oracle thin drivers.
JDK 1.1.7B
Oracle 8i database
Of late, we see that the server just randomly stops serving out requests,
for e.g. the server will not serve out JSP files, will not let any users
connect, etc. We found absolutely nothing in the weblogic.log files for most
of the crashes. The server just randomly stops at a point. Earlier we had a
problem with the ExecuteThreads being used up and the server hanging because
of lack of excecute threads and that problem was fixed and we haven't seen
that sort of problem ever since.
We just saw a crash where we had the following error sometime before the
crash -
weblogic.common.ResourceException: Unable to shrink pool oracle from 26 to
25
at java.lang.Throwable.<init>(Compiled Code)
at java.lang.Exception.<init>(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.common.ResourceException.<init>(ResourceException.java:18)
at weblogic.common.internal.ResourceAllocator.shrink_internal(Compiled
Code)
at weblogic.common.internal.ResourceAllocator.trigger(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.time.common.internal.ScheduledTrigger.executeLocally(Compiled
Code)
at weblogic.time.common.internal.ScheduledTrigger.execute(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.time.server.ScheduledTrigger.execute(Compiled Code)
at weblogic.t3.srvr.ExecuteThread.run(Compiled Code)
After that we took a thread dump (Ctrl-Break) which is attached with this
posting.
We have also seen that the server shuts itself down abruptly, i.e. the JVM
exits. Has anybody seen this kind of behaviour with WL 4.5.1/SP 13?
To give a brief background of our startup process -
We have quite a few startup classes (10) that start off when WL starts up.
Some of these startups are periodically running processes. Some of them
create a pool of threads (no. being between 40 -50) that are used when
required. Has anybody seen any problem with this kind of scenario.
This is an urgent production issue. Any help would be gratefully
appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm basically .NET developer, not much aware of VB language or VB visual Basic 6.0.
We are trying to work out with VB application running/ using C# dll's. The scenario is like VB exe applications using C# dll's and C# dll's are referenced to VB application using .tlb file.
In development environment(debug mode) the application looks fine and working as expected. But when the same code is put into production environment VB applications are crashing when pointing to C# method calls. We trying to know the reason but application
is getting killed. The issue seems to be sporadic and not able to catch in MsgView(debug tool).
In one more scenario, the VB application is loading C# form and getting data back to VB but when we repeat the same workflow again application is crashing either in 2nd attempt or 3rd attempt.
Has anybody seen such issue? Any input is welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Shesh

  • Issue in production environment

    Hi,
We got an issue in the production environment on last Friday and yet not able to find out the root cause of the issue.
    Environment
    GUI : .Net
    Server : Java
    Application Server: Jboss
    Database: Sqlserver
The Java application is deployed into Jboss application server which connects to SQL server as back end. GUI makes the web service call to server for data communication
    Issue
Friday at 2 PM users reported the slowness of the application (Not getting the response from server in GUI), all the request from GUI were getting timed out.
    Restart of Jboss didn't help
Restarted the Jboss and sqlserver for the second time and than the environment became stable
    Analysis
    1. From the thread dump of Jboss log we see that there are many threads waiting on a socket for database connection(according to database team all the connections are open and available at that particular time).
    2. The size of transaction log is almost doubled during this period (when the issue was reported).
We couldn't find a reason why this issue is happened. Is it a database issue or something else? Please suggest...
    Thanks,
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
According to your description, when running the web application, many threads are waiting for the socket from database which cause requests from front GUI time out. Right?
In this scenario, user can access the front GUI, which means the application server is working. Since the connections are all open at that particular time, it should not be issue on your JDBC. It seems to be a deadlock issue which cause other threads
waiting and hang. I recommend check and optimize your code. On database side, I suggest you open the SQL profiler, select DeadLock Graph, it will record when deadlock occurs. Please refer to links below:

  • Couldn't do a particular function only in production environment

    Hi All,
I am not able to do a particular function in production environment, so I took SU53 screen shot and found the missing authorization object and  added the needed role in quality and tested the same, it was working. But when I tried the same in production with that particular role I couldn't do it.
Can you help me locate where the issue is.

A novice asked the Master: ``Here is a programmer that never designs, documents or tests his programs. Yet all who know him consider him one of the best programmers in the world. Why is this?''
The Master replies: ``That programmer has mastered the Tao. He has gone beyond the need for design; he does not become angry when the system crashes, but accepts the universe without concern. He has gone beyond the need for documentation; he no longer cares if anyone else sees his code. He has gone beyond the need for testing; each of his programs are perfect within themselves, serene and elegant, their purpose self-evident. Truly, he has entered the mystery of Tao.''

  • How to manage connections in production environment

    Hai
We are using Statless Session beans which will call bean managed entity beans
as a developer we completed the first phase of our project successful but when
comming to the production environment they(Higher authoritites of the company)
are asking abt the connection pools. Suppose if my wlserver5.1 has 100 hits per
a second how many connection pools i need to put in the production envirornment
and also is it the right way to increase the connectionpools depends upon the
clients hits????. Can anybody help me regarding this It is very urgent for us.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers Kiran Nallam

    Hi,
It all depends on your infrastructure and what products you are using.
In most cases dev/prod are on different servers and are separate installs, this is the route I would promote.
Some clients do share an environment for dev/test but not all, not everybody is the same.

  • I want to deploy AIR application in production environment. Will the licence for AIR is free?

Please let me know the licence details. Shall i have to pay any thing if i want to use in production environment.

Just after the 2012 Macs were released there were a lot of crashes involving those machines that Chrome got the blame for. By the time I got my hands on a 2012 MBA Chrome had been updated at least twice (plus it was never clear which version of Chrome was implicated, assuming it was the cause to begin with). All I can say now is that I've not replicated the issue with the last two versions of Chrome.

We were going to use jikes when we switched to 1.3, but had a few problems
with it. It compiles much faster than Sun's JDK, but it would
occasionally crash. We could recompile the stuff that crashed andproceed,
but that concerned us (I don't recall if there was anything else). So we
bought the latest version of VisualCafe (Professional and Enterprise
Editions have a fast 1.3 compiler) since we had used their 1.1 compiler in
production in the past. We've been using Jikes for months now without any serious problems. I've
never known it to crash. (Jikes 1.12, JDK 1.3, Redhat Linux 6.2, WL 5.1) The
caveat I could offer you is that Jikes is much more willing to generate
warning messages than javac. In particular, I've noticed that it will throw
annoying messages on Weblogic's ejbc-generated code unless you specifically
    suppress warnings.

  • Spawn setting in production environment

Has anyone heard or been told by oracle analyst that Oracle doesn't support spawn setting in production environment?
Answer that I received was enabling spawn can be flaky. The domain may easily hang without explanation and it's always been like that, so we don't support spawn in production.
We have 16 GB of memory
    [PSAPPSRV]
    Min 10
    Max 25
    Spawn Threshold=1,30:2,10
According peopletools performance guideline, CRM and HRMS use about 100-150 MB per application server process. We have lots of customization, so I will just bump it up to 250MB. If we are to disable spawn by setting min = max to 25, this means the app server process will constantly use at least 6GB of memory. We should still be able to avoid the memory issue, right? Unless my calculation is wrong...
I would like to hear more opinion and advice here.

  • Suggestion for Iridium I/O third party tool use in production environment. Is Good or bad to use?

    Hello Everyone,
we are planing to use Iridium I/O third party tool in one of our critical production environment to improve the performance.
but i want to know is it recommended  for such type of critical servers?.
if i use this tool find any performance improvement.

    Hi Baraiya,
Iridium I/O is certified by Microsoft. It can help to fix SQL Server performance instead of just pointing out performance problems . Benefits of using Iridium include the following aspects. Refer to:
    Iridium I/O for SQL Server.
    •Faster transactions
    •Faster batch jobs
    •Reduced blocking and deadlocking
    •Faster sorting in tempdb
•Speeds up queries from 3rd Party apps that can't be tuned
•Speeds up queries that are already "fully tuned"
•Speeds up the 95% of queries that the DBA never has time to tune
In addition, there will be no impact on the SQL databases when Iridium is removed. Personally, I recommend you install the Iridium I/O in a test environment, and check if it meets your requirement, then use it in the production server.
For more details , you can also review this blog:

    Hi Aravind,
It can be used only for calculation kinda "minimum size".
Nothing can prevent a developer from writing something
    like this:
    Connection con1 = ds.getConnection();
    Connection con2 = ds.getConnection();
    Connection con3 = ds.getConnection();

You can fix the size of the weblogic connection pool depending on yourexecute
thread count value. For example the default value of execute thread countvalue
is 15. So at a given point of time you cannot use more then 15 databaseconnection.
Database connection pool size should be equal to or less then the size ofexecute
    thread count

    Hi Kiran,
It's hard to provide exact dependence between number of hits
and actual number of consumed connections because it's a highly
variable distributed environment. But the general approach is
simple - before rolling out your application, make sure you
tested it under simulated peak load. Your connection pool should
have enough connections to serve peak load. Without such a testing
you will never know whether your app scales or not.

  • Export/Copy .rpt files from Production environment

I'm new to Crystal Reports. I'm using Crystal Reports 10. I urgently need your help with the following:
We inherited 140 reports from another department. The version control was not done well in that department. Now we canu2019t trust the versions on Visual Source Safe.
We decide to pull, or export, the .rpt files from Production environment and put them in VSS.
I understand that I can go to the CE Management Console, open each report, preview and save them in .rpt format. But I have to change the name later from a default name and save the .rpt without data. We have 140 reports. It would be very time consuming, and big risk of mistakes.
The way we publish a report is: open the u2018Balance.rptu2019 from a local project folder, save as, click Enterprise button, and sign on the CE. From there I can see folders on Console to save the report.
My question is: Where I can find these .rpt files in Production environment? How can I save/export all the reports together to my folder u2013 not one by one? If there is a tool to do it?
For the example above, anybody knows where this u2018Balance.rptu2019 is saved? Once the report is published, the name seems changed in file strorage.
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Unable to import the Internet servivce into Production Environment

    Hi,
We put the internet service and its HTML templates in a custom package for integrated ITSMobile. We got everything but the internet service ZXXX in the production. Has anyone come across this before? We were able to transport to the quality system. But it did not create the internet service in the production environment. Is it authorization issue? Your input will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi Subbu,
I suggest you to as your basis guys how are familiar with transports between systems. They will find out what the reason is. Without being able to look into transport protocols it is unlikeliy that someone here can advise you.

  • Development and product environment

    Dear all,
I want to setup two databases in seperated server. One for development purpose and another for product environment.
Which good method/tool in oracle can transfer data (like pl/sql,tables,fields) from
    development to product environment?
    Thanks you

I would strongly suggest cloning the database from Development to Production, using RMAN. You get a proper copy that way - and it isn't hard to do. Howard Rogers has all the answers here: http://www.dizwell.com/prod/node/9

From your description, I know you want to set cookie value as httpOnly but it is not work.
Please try to add codes below to your global.asax file:

protected void Session_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e)
     try
      if (Request.IsSecureConnection == true)
