Urgent :i18n

Question

i want to insert japanese char in database ,when i give input through jsp in japanese i nget that data in a servlet and i want to store it in database but when i get that data it is in html unicode i want to convert it to japanese and store it in database any suggestion

You agree that ASCII and UNICODE are stored in bytes(Bytes represent the character).
You will just have to make due with the unicode value.
In java you can't say:
String message = "Hello, this message is/*return char*/split over two lines";but you can say
String message = "Hello, this message is\nsplit over two lines";\n represents the new line or return char
The same thing happens when storing the value of a <textarea> in a database
the newline char in the returned value is represented by \n in java
and when you store the value in a database it is stored as ~[]~.
This does not mean that this value has changed though.
When you retrieve the value from the database and display the value in a browser it once again appears as a newline char.
The above said: The method of working with such chars changes from app to app but the underlying value doesn't change(Byte value stays the same)
