URGENT!! Items in Portal release 2

Is it possible to deside how many items a region should display? If you have 10 items only the three latest should be visible.
This was possible in the previous version of Portal!

The solution here was to use the custom search portlet to autoquery a list of items. Set the maximum number of items in the result list, and the portlet will pageinate the overflow.

Accessing the folders and items through Portal API

Hi,
I am working for a customer who is currently using Oracle Portal 3.0.x (9iAS Release 1) and uploaded/stored a lot of MS Office content (thousands of documents). They are evaluating Oracle Files as the document management application. They would like to automate the process to move the documents from Oracle Portal Content Areas to Oracle Files.
Is there an api through which i can browse through the folder hierarchy (so that i can create the same in files) , and access all the items including the content stored in DB as blob in WWDOC_DOCUMENT$ table ? If there is not one , what are the tables and the relationships i should be looking at ?

The main reason I've heard for people wanting to do this is that Files supports desktop integration (e.g. drag and drop or save/load from Windows). However, if you're looking for this feature it is available in Portal Release 2 using the WebDAV (Web Folders) integration.
You can also use WebDAV to copy between Files and Portal, however WebDAV is not available in Portal Release 1.
The content area views and APIs for Release 1 are fully documented in the PDK (these views and APIs will also be supported for Release 2 starting with the April PDK). Note that Files does not have equivalent APIs, so you will have a difficult time moving content from Portal to Files programmatically.

Problems with the login page in Portal release 2

Hi,
I have problems logging into portal, release 2 on Linux. I get the following error message when clicking the login link:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login on this server.
This used to work until I changes the password for the orasso user using 9IAS Enterprise Manager. The portal home page works fine. I've tryed to run the ssooconf.sql script, but this didn't help me much.
Does anyone have any solution to this problem?

That's just a display of the license agreement. The login page is always at:
http://127.0.0.1:8000/apex

No cost booking against sales order+line item once accontng release is done

Dear all,
I want to stop all cost bookings against a sales order + line item once the accounting release for that item has been done.
By cost booking i mean, all such transactions that are done for a sales order + line item that involve cost booking. Like, MB1A should not allow any goods issue against that sales order + item once accounting release is done.
Is it possible to that in sales order? Like by using any status at item level.
Please guide.

Hi Ajay,
We have not kept automatic cost estimate marking during saving of sales order as costing dept wants to confirm whether costing for the SO is correct or not.
Hence we have to use CK51N.
Now the problem is for any change in any line item of a sales order is changing the costing status from "VO" to "KA" for all line items of the given sales order in table KEKO.
This is causing measure problem as production people are facing problem while making any change in production order as already there is a check put in CO02 that if cost estimate does not exist for underlying sales order, then change in production order should not be allowed.
Similarly production order creation (converting planned order to production order) is getting held up.
Costing user has to repeated run CK51N for all line items of a single sales order if there is any change in any single line item of the sales order.
Hence pl. help and suggest as to what is to be done now.

WS20000075: work item of 1st release step stays in status In process

Hi All,
I have activated and set up standard flow WS20000075 but the work item of 1st release (PO release strategy with 3 levels) step stays in status In process. The work item for the 2nd and 3rd release step are completed as expected.
What could cause only the work item of the 1st release step to stay In process?

Import/ export of an object or item in portal 10g

Good Morning!

can anyone tell what is the format of import / export of an object or item in portal 10g?
 this is in the context of updating or rolling into production server an item whose earlier version might be sitting in the production server before. and it is based on the premise that the environment/ system is composed of more than one servers and production is only one of them.
 apologies ... if i am not even phrasing the question right. by format, what i mean to know is does it first delete the older component and then generate the new one or it renegades and keeps the older version and bring on the newer version, or what.

any hints will be appreciated.

Export 3.0.9 and import to Portal Release 2 on different platform

Hi,
I have to move a Portal site from 3.0.9 on NT to a Linux platform running Portal Release 2. How can I do it? I believe I cannot export from 3.0.9 and import to Release 2 - what are my options?

I will have this same problem as the 3.0.9 site is a production site and I do not wish to test the migration with this site.
Do I need to export from the current site to another 8i database and upgrade? Can I import into 9.0.2 directly with the export?

Error creating text item in portal

Hello forum, I am having an error creating a text item in portal. I'd like the item to be displayed directly on the page. However, the item is greater than 32K. This is the error in the log file: portal: [module=RepositoryServlet, ecid=83707100943,1] ERROR: Repository Gateway error: Request Processing Error: Value param too long. Length is 189640. Upper limit is 32512
Does anybody know of a work around this issue?

There's not a workaround, per se, for this. The 32K is a hard and fast (and very annoying) limit. Depending on the item and display you'd like to use, you could put it in a dynamic page and display it as a portlet, or split it up into different items.

My company demo download for portal release 2

Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a "my company" demo download available for Oracle 9i AS Portal release 2 (9.0.2.1.14a). All i could get is of version 3.0.9 and it does'nt seem to work with our current portal release. It created the schema & some tables but failed to import the database objects(appimp.csh,contimp.csh & pageimp.csh are missing in the /wwu directory of our installation). I'm not sure if its our installation fault or anything.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can share their knowledge on this. Thanks & Regards,

Hello,
If you already have all the templates and such configured then its easy. We don't have ESS and only one MSS scenario. However we support the web environment via BSP HAP_DOCUMENT. You can include our list pages in an Iview and assign that to the ESS or MSS scenario in the portal.
They also run stand alone, so you can test it as well without configuring the portal.

I have a question about item "type and release" of source system creation.
As we know,when we create a web servie source system,there will display a pop-up which includes three items as "logical system","source system"and "type and release".
About the item "type and release",when we push "F4" button,there will be three default selections as below:
"ORA 115     Oracle Applications 11i
TLF 205     Tealeaf 2.05B
XPD 020     SAP xPD".
Who can tell me when and how should I use the three selections.
And also I attempted to input the item by some optional letters except the default three selections and it seems that I can input it freely.

You said the default selections are set by our basis people.Would you like to tell me how should we creat a new value except the default ones for item "type and release"?Only by inputing the value in the item directly?But you see we canot see the new value item we created by ourself when we push "F4" button next time ,is that ok?Or do we have to ask basis people to define one new value item just like the default seletions before we use it.
Also if possible would you like to describe detail about "This becomes important when you are troubleshooting certain issues especially when RFC connection problems."

URGENT - Items archiving in Portal - Whats the best way to do this ?

My client has following requirement -
- The client has lots and lots of content.
- The content must show on site for 6 months.
- After 6 months, the content goes to archives (meaning - it does not show on site, but that does NOT mean its deleted - its kind of hidden)
- The archive content must be searchable
- After 4 years some content expires while some of it remains in archive forever
Currently, the client stores the content on a file system and there is a process that moves the items after 6 months to an archiving area and after 4 years some content is deleted and some is retained forever.
What is the best way to approach this requirement ?
If there is a solution how to move their existing system (content valid for 6 months and archives for last 4 yrs) to portal ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of ways to do this:
1. If the items are all file items and don't have extended attributes, you can just use WebDAV to move the items to an archive location (can be another page or a file system). Use a WebDAV command line utility like sitecopy, combined with the WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS view to select the content. sitecopy should be able to select items based on their last modified date, so you may not have to use the view.
2. If you also want to archive the attributes, or if the items include non-file items, you'll need to use the content management APIs to copy the items to an archive page. Currently there is no delete API, so once you've copied the items you'll have to expire the originals and then manually purge them.

URGENT: Item apporvals / notifications in 9.0.2

Hi all,
are ther any known issues with portal 9.0.2 regarding setting up the approval/notification feature for items?
I tried to get it up and running without success. I read all the available help pages and compared the guidlines there with my implementation and found no mistakes on my installation.
My environment:
Fresh Oracle9iAS v2 installation. I'm using the seeded portal repository coming with the infrastructure database.
THIS QUESTION IS VERY URGENT.
