Urgent! Problems with bridge JDBC-ODBC

Hello,
I have found out that JDBC-ODBC bridge in JDK 1.4.1 don't works fine, because, if you want to store text largest 254 characters in a field type text in one record of a Access database's table, it generate a SQLError, I have tried with EasySoft JDBC_ODBC and it works, with it I could store text fields largest than 254 characters, but I have new problems, EasySoft bridge is not free, and don't let store nulls in fields type Date [with PreparedStatement x, x.setDate(theDate)] (raise a SQLError), in the other hand, JDKs bridge do it. Somebody knows if exists JDCB-ODBC free drivers more suitables than JDK's includes, or if exists upgrades?
Is very urgent!, Thanks a lot
(Sorry, my english is very poor)

I have tried it, Is there where I found the EasySoft's JDBC-ODBC driver, but the result is: one problems out, yes, now with this driver I can store String largest 254 characters in fields type MEMO of a table in Access Database, but two new problems, 1st. is a trial version, (requiere paid), and 2nd. don't let store nulls in fields type Date when JDKs JDBC-ODBC bridge lets, and the aplication needs leave this fields blanks.
Any other idea?
Thank

    the question marks are very weird to appear!!!!!!It failed to understand your unicode sql.
    it was working fine on a windows XP environment prepared for arabic language, but when i had to move to windows vista it did not workStrange. Maybe you need to compare the differences of some system properties on both hosts, for instance, sun.io.unicode.encoding, file.encoding, user.region, and so on.

    Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
    The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
    However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
    I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
    However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
    So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

    Hi I have been having a problem with Bridge in CS4 recently. So uninstalled CS4 and Lightroom 4.4 and reinstalled them on my Desktop PC. When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I have spent two weeks going through preferences etc. to find how to resolve my problem. Please can you Help? Meany thanks in advance
      Derek Randall

    I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them,  However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

  • URGENT Problem with Greek Character from an Oracle database

    Hello, I am having a serious and urgent problem with the character settings of an oracle database (8.1.7). The database is sitting in a solaris unix server and when we run the env command we have the following in the NLS_LANG parameter: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 (I do not know if this is helpful). When I retrieve data from oracle database (through a VB.NET 2005 program)to a dataset I use a special font in order to see the greek characters (HELLASARIAL). But when I am trying to save these data to a TXT file the greek characters are like Chinese to us. I tried several encodings (System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(869)) but without success. Can someone tell me how to convert the oracle greek characters during the selection or during the saving to the TXT file?
    Please respond as fast as you can.
    Thanks in advance

    Here is the answer of the microsoft:
    I have the information that you have a VB.Net 2005 application connected to an Oracle database 8.1.7.4 hosted on a UNIX server.
    This database has the CharacterSet WE8ISO8859P1.
    When retrieving Greek characters from this database in the application, you cannot see them.
    Could you please send me a screenshot of these characters in the .Net application?
    Are they displayed as gibberish, or as inverted questions marks (?)?
    I already had similar cases with Hebrew characters hosted on an Oracle database.
    These characters were displayed as questions marks on the client side.
    This is due to the fact that System.Data.OracleClient is using the Server CharacterSet to display the characters.
    If your Greek characters are not stored in the WE8ISO8859P1 characterset, then they won’t display correctly on the client-side.
    This is different from OLEDB where you could interact on client side by modifying the NLS_LANG parameter in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0.
    The client NLS_LANG and the server CharacterSet had to match in order to correctly display the data, and avoid SQL*NET conversion.
    So there are two solutions to your case:
    - The first one is to create a new database using the P8 characterset. The Oracle .Net managed provider will so be able to use it and display the characters correctly.
    - The second one is to use the OLEDB.Net managed provider, and then use OLEDB for Oracle provider. OLEDB will take care of the client NLS_LANG registry parameter.
    Would it be possible to test your application against an Oracle database with WE8ISO8859P8 characterset?
    Would it be possible to test it with the OLEDB .Net managed provider, and after checking the NLS_LANG client registry parameter?

  • Beginner Has Problem With Loading JDBC Driver Using MySQL

    Hi, I am having problem with loading JDBC driver, and need your diagnotic help.
    1. I have installed MySQL (C:\mysql), created a databse (soup), and created a littel table (VIDEOS). I am able to see the table in the console:
    sql> select * from videos
    2. I have downloaded the latest version of Connector/J (mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha.zip), and unzip the zip file into my C:\ directory.
    3. I copied the mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha-bin.jar to the C:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\jre\lib\ext folder and it is in my CLASSPATH
    4. MySQL server is running
    C:\> C:\mysql\bin\mysqld-nt --standalone
    5. open another DOS window and use the database
    mysql>USE SOUP
    6. succesfully compiled a Java program (javac Test.java):
    import java.sql.* ;
    public class Test
    public static void main( String[] args )
    try
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
    try
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/soup" );
    try
    Statement statement = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery("SELECT TITLE FROM VIDEOS");
    while ( rs.next() )
    System.out.println( rs.getString( "TITLE" ) );
    rs.close();
    statement.close();
    catch ( SQLException e )
    System.out.println( "JDBC error: " + e );
    finally
    con.close();
    catch( SQLException e )
    System.out.println( "could not get JDBC connection: " + e );
    catch( Exception e )
    System.out.println( "could not load JDBC driver: " + e );
    7. when I run the Java program (java Test), I got
    the message:
    could not load JDBC driver: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    What am I missing?

    Hi,
    I missed to specify test in my last post.
    Try running your program by explicitly setting the classspath when
    running your program . java -classpath c:\mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha-bin.jar test
    Make sure your jar file contains org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver class

    By uninstalling the previous version you have fouled up the file association.  You can try the manual method of preferences/file type assoications and changing the default.  If this does not work there are other ways that involve more work.

  • Frustrating problem with Bridge 6.1.0

    I have been experiencing a frustrating problem with Bridge 6.1.0 and previous versions. Soemtimes when I save a file to a particular folder, the file is present in the Finder window, but is not visible in Bridge. If I move the file from Finder to Bridge by draging it there, then it shows up but it is so frustrating to have to do it this way. I have tried to use the «Refresh» function in Bridge but that does not help. All scripts are turned on in Preferences- I have Mac  OS X 10.9.4

    The current version will not run on Mac OS 10.6.8. Thanks for any assistance.
    The easiest way would be to update to at least 10.7.5 (supported on most older Macs) but maybe you have strong reasons not to do so, however it will put you in to more trouble in the future because newer applications have more often the habit of not being able to support older OS versions due to limitations of this old OS.
    Here is the announcement of Adobe:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/moving-ahead-with-mac-os-x-10-7-and-higher/
    However PS CC should still work on your system and otherwise CS6 should. As a cloud subscriber you still have access to both CC and CS6 on the Adobe CC download pages. But only PS is a major upgrade (changed to version 2014) and Bridge has just a minor update and should still work on 10.6.8 I would think?
    Installing the updates and upgrades did not remove or uninstall the CC versions of PS, otherwise use CC application to install CC again.

  • Problem in building JDBC ODBC connection with my stand alone Project.

    Hello Everyone!
    I gave the following command in order to create JAR file:
    C:\app>jar cvfm MyJar.jar Manifest.txt .
    and the Manifest file contains the code: Main - Class: Login
    My Manifest File and the .class codes and the JAR file which is created successfully by the above command are in the same folder "app" and then I run the project both at command prompt by the command : C:\app>java -jar MyJar.jar
    and by double clicking the JAR file. My project is running successfully but, I am using JDBC - ODBC Driver in my project and I want to let this project run in any other computer system. So, any other user who is unknown to the Driver used and Database used in my project can't be able to run my project if the specified driver is not installed in his machine and also there is a bridge of ODBC Data Source (from control panel-- Administrative Tools-- Data Sources(ODBC) )from which Driver is selected and the Database is specified.
    In order to test my application, I had removed the data source name from the Control Panel's Data Sources (ODBC) properties' window. Then I run my project then the following error msg is shown in command prompt:
    C:\app>java -jar MyJar.jar
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

    So, I have a doubt at this point that how a user is able to configure this bridge in order to run my application who is unknown to my project's back-hand? As JRE is essential to run my project so, I have decided to give setup of JRE with my project's CD, may the JDBC - ODBC Driver providing to the user with my application setup solve this problem ?
    Please help me to solve my problem.

    M.V.Asolkar wrote:
    Please please help me.Lets presume hypothetically that the jTDS driver won't work with 2000. It might or might not.
    However the fact remains that your ODBC driver is not working.
    So the first step is to stop trying to run your full application. Instead you create a very simple console application that does nothing but connect to the database.
    Problems that usually occur from that would be.
    1. The connection string is not correct for MS SQL Server.
    2. The connection information for the database is not correct
    3. The database (nothing to do with java) is not configured to accept connections.

  • Problem with Using JDBC in Applet

    Hi,
    i have written an applet to log in (it checks the database, if the username and pasword exists it shows corresponding message). i use access or sql server and applet is started but no message is shown(i think it does not connect to database). here is my code:

    JLabel l1;

    JLabel l3;
    JTextField tf1;
    JPasswordField tf2;
    JButton btn;
    Connection cn;
    Statement st;
    String hostname;
    public void init() {
    hostname = "localhost";
    l1 = new JLabel("User Name: ");
    l2 = new JLabel(" Password: ");
    l3 = new JLabel(" ");
    tf1 = new JTextField(20);
    tf2 = new JPasswordField(20);
    btn = new JButton("Sign in");
    Container c = getContentPane();
    c.setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT));
    c.add(l1);
    c.add(tf1);
    c.add(l2);
    c.add(tf2);
    c.add(btn);
    c.add(l3);
    btn.addActionListener(this);
    setSize(300,300);
    setVisible(true);
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    if (e.getSource()==btn) {
    boolean b = check(tf1.getText(),new String(tf2.getPassword()));
    if (b) {
    l3.setForeground(Color.green);
    l3.setText("Username and password exists. ");
    else {
    l3.setForeground(Color.red);
    l3.setText("Username and/or password does not exist.");
    public boolean check(String un, String pass) {
    String query="SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE username LIKE'"+un+"'" +
    " AND password LIKE'"+pass+"'";
    boolean b = false;
    try {
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    cn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:login");
    st = cn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery(query);
    if (!(rs==null))
    if (rs.next())
    b = true;
    rs.close();
    st.close();
    cn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e1) {
    e1.printStackTrace();
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e1) {
    e1.printStackTrace();
    return b;
    }

    The first thing i notice is that there's a problem with your SQL statement.
    To start with you should probably be using PreparedStatements cause it deals with the passing of variables very well and cleanly.
    But if you must use a straight statement then it should be like this:
    String query = "SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE username LIKE '"+un+"'" + " AND password LIKE '"+pass+"'";
    The fact that you were mising a few spaces wouldn't have helped. Although if you were to use a prepared statement, it would be a lot easier to understand where things were being passed and you don't need to worry about those single quotes for certain values.

  • Urgent :problem with JTable on server program

    hi all i am writing an internet cafe timer.there is a table with the following colums:PC Name,IP Address,Status,Time Left, Time Login. ,on the server GUI. Whenever a client connects,a new row having the clients details is added to the table model, which reflects on the table.but if a client disconnects and reconnects, i want it to search thru the rows in the model, if there is a row with its information already,it shouls simply update the status column to "Reconnected", and not add an entirly new row, but if there is no row with its information, it can then add a new row with its information.
    Simply put, when a client connects,it should check
    1)if the table is empty, add a new row;
    2)else, check if tabe already has a row for the client, then update the row,else add a new row.
    its not working this way.it only works for the first client to connect,if other clients connect and disconnect,it still adds a new row, instaed of updating.
    the method doTable() in class ClientThread is what i use .please check it out and help me.
    i have a thread for each client.when a client connects, the server starts the thread and passes an instance of the server ui to the thread, so the threads acess the tablemodel thru this instance.
    Here is a simple run down of my classes

    In the UI is defined the InputMap/ActionMap pair to respond to keys. There is defined an action for ENTER. I have had the same problem, and the only thing that worked for me was to clear the actionMap, and reassign some keys to their original action, and some (e.g. ENTER, TAB) to my actions. This worked. With TAB is harder beacuse i guess it's deeper in the JVM implemented, but after a while i've managed to overwrite that too.

  • Urgent: Problems with connecting to a database

    I have problems with getting a connection to both Oracle and Access.
    For Access I added the .jar files in my classpath.
    For Oracle I don't know which files I should add to the classpath.
    Here's the code:
    To connect with Access:
    public class AccessDatabase extends JFrame {
         private Connection conn;
         private Statement stmt;
         public AccessDatabase() throws SQLException,IOException{
         DriverManager.registerDriver(new easysoft.sql.jobDriver());
         System.out.println("Connecting...");
    conn= DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:odbc:easysoft:db1");
         System.out.println("Connected");
              stmt=conn.createStatement();
         ResultSet r=stmt.executeQuery("select name,adress from Tabel1");
         while(r.next()){
              String a=r.getString("name");
              String b=r.getString("adress");
              System.out.println(a+""+b);
    and for Oracle:
    public class AccessDatabase extends JFrame {
    private Connection conn;
    private Statement stmt;
    public AccessDatabase() throws SQLException,IOException{
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    System.out.println("Connecting...");
    conn= DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:odbc:easysoft:db1");
    System.out.println("Connected");
    stmt=conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet r=stmt.executeQuery("select name,adress from Tabel1");
    while(r.next()){
              String a=r.getString("name");
              String b=r.getString("adress");
              System.out.println(a+""+b);
         }}}

    For getting connection from oracle you need to do 2 things.
    1-- As said earlier put classes12.zip in classpath
    2. For getting connection use as below ---
    instead of --conn= DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:odbc:easysoft:db1");
    Use thin driver ---
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection (jdbc:oracle:thin:@servername:portno , UserName,Password);
    replace servername UserName,Password in code you will get the connection.
    Thanks
    Rakesh

    I think this is the problem with ciphers. So can anybody please help me with this!!!. This is very urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance
    Nilesh

    Thanks for your prompt reply I was able to make it run. Actually I am using the same keystore and truststore at both the client and the server end. I added those properties in opmn.xml as startup parameters.
    I have another query I am using JDev to create a client proxy for my webservice that is deployed in OC4J. I have setup OC4J in 2 way SSL (mutual authentication)
    When I invoke my client proxy with these system properties set
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore",keyStore);
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", keyStorePassword);
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", trustStore);
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword",trustStorePassword);
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","JKS");
    I get an exception in the log.xml which is
    <MSG_TEXT>IOException in ServerSocketAcceptHandler$AcceptHandlerHorse:run</MSG_TEXT>
