URGENT!restrict user frm edit a field data (allow create) in apx applicatn

hi,
I have a table with 3 columns say
col1 primary key
col2
col3
i'm filling my col1 with a berfore insert trigger
i have built an apex application with a report and form page on above table.
my end user can create records through the application form page ( form page shows and allows only col2,col3 to be filled.)
once the record is created by the user, while editing the same record(by clicking the edit ICON present before that particular record)only col3 should be shown as editable in the form page to be updated by the user.
please help me out its urgent.

Hi Ajay,
When navigating from a link(edit ICON) pass a request say 'UPDATE' and:
1) Render col1 and col2 as disabled/read-only on UPDATE request.(using Dynamic Action or other ways)
(If you are disabling and doing update operation in which you are using disabled elements you have to re-enable on submit)
2) Conditionally display elements i.e. do not display col1 and col2 on UPDATE request.

Restrict users from editing and deleting not owned items

Hello guys.
I'm trying to restrict users from editing and deleting items created by other users. I know, that it can be achieved by using SPList.WriteSecurity parameter, but if I change its value to 2 or 4 - nothing happens...
May be there are some list permissions that can override this security setting? I tried to combine permissions in different ways but users either cannot modify any items or can edit/delete all of them...
By the way, setting ReadSecurity=2 works as it should work regardless of user permissions...

I understand that you want to change the write security for the document library. You can try the PowerShell script below:
$web = Get-SPWeb http://serverURL
$list = $web.Lists["Document library"]
$list.ReadSecurity = 2
$list.WriteSecurity =2
$list.Update()
$web.Dispose()
This setting will not affect the site collection administrator, he will always be able to edit the documents. You need to sue another account to have a test. If this still doesn't work, I think you need to manually edit the permission for each documents.

I assume some authorization needs to be taken back from the users.
But Want to know the Details of that Authorization Object so that I can ask our User Access Management team to take necessary action.

There is a parameter Operation and "Old Status" , its 3rd position shall NOT be 4

Can't edit DOC field data if its over 250 characters.

Hi All,
If am IDOC field length is more than 250 characters, SAP is not allowing to change the data(example basic type: ACC_DOCUMENT01, segment: E1BPACEXTC, field: FIELD1). Its throwing an error on saying field lenght is more than 250 characters. Now I need to write a custom program to modify those fields in the Idoc. Can any body help with function module I need to call to modify the fields in idoc.

I installed Numbers 3. From the Mac App Store, there being no other way. As is its practice, MAS, wipes out every trace of previous versions of the software it replaces. Numbers 2.3 simply does not exist on my machine.
Yes, I have Time Machine backups. Have you tried drag-installing iWorks applications? They will not run. They rely on system-level frameworks that I am not confident I can dig out of Time Machine.
No, I do not have my original distribution media for iWorks. I bought iWorks nearly six years ago, when computers still had optical drives. It happens I have a couple of 3.5" floppies from the first developer-tools releases in 1984, but those are relics. I don't have the DVD (or CD?).
If I did have the DVD, it would not contain version 2.3. 2.3 came from an Apple update I downloaded from the support site five years ago. I challenge you to give me a live URL for that updater.
P.S. Perhaps I am oversensitive, but I think the implication is gratuitous, that only a fancy-pants rocket scientist would want to import a spreadsheet that contains 100 lines of dates, text, and numbers in 17 columns.
When one double-clicks an .xlsx file, Numbers opens it. Import of Excel files is not an advanced future direction. It is an intended function of the application today. Numbers responds to double-clicking .xlsx files today. If it were not an intended function, it would not attempt to open the file; or at least it would post some kind of alert that the operation is not yet implemented.

Prevent User from Editing the Credit Limit Field

Hi
I would like to find out if there is a way to restrict user that has full authorisation to BP Master Data from changing a specific field on the Master Data.
The scenario is that we allow an user to edit BP Master Data but would like to prevent the user from changing the credit/committment limit fields as it has financial risk and only managers can do so.
If there any way within the stand SAP authorization that can achieve this requirement?

This would not be achievable through standard authorization. You may try SP_Transaction_Notification instead. Search within forum, there are many threads discussing this SP.

Restricting user to maintain entries in production through table maintenanc

Dear All,
I have created one table maintenance generator.
I am sending entries of table to quality and production server through transport request.
But user can directly maintain the entries in quality and production server also.
I want to restrict user that he will not be allowed to maintain the entries directly in quality and production server and entries always go through transport request from development to quality and production server.
Any idea how to restrict user to maintain entries in quality and production server.
Any pointers will be helpful and appreciated.

for your requirement you have to create events(create new entry) in table maintanace generator for creating new entry.
create 05 event and give suroutine name as new_entry.
form new_entry.
message 'authorizatioh restricted for creating new entry' type 'E'.
or
create authorization objects then give authorization for perticular user for maintaining data in the table
by creating authorization objects.

I need to Restrict Users to Copy file from Shared Folder. Please let me know is there any method to achieve this requirement.

If user have Read permission, they can copy it. So actually you cannot restrict user from copy your files if they could read/edit.
Some programs could help restrict users from edit/modify/copy the content of their files such as Office files, PDF files etc as Oscar said above.

We need create on R/3 4.6 a specific user profile for material master data, to create or modify (MM01/MM02) only the following views: 'Sales org. data 1', 'Sales org. data 2' and 'Sales:General/Plant data'. The problem is that when I use the SAP gui functions, I can create the profile, but also with the views 'Foreign trade: Export data' and 'Sales text'. Someone know how create this profile without this last two views? Thanks.

Restricting User Editing Date Picker Field Manually In Adobe Form

Hi Experts,
                   I have an Date Picker field, which list down the calender to select date. But, along with that, it allows user to input any data manually. I want the user to select the date only from the calender and the user should not be allowed to edit the field manually. As option to do that ? I tried all available types and nothing seems to be fulfilling my requirement.

This is possible with a script in the EXIT event of the date field.
It uses a regular expression to check the entered value for a specific pattern.
Allows are dates in these way: [9|99] [.|/|-] [9|99] [.|/|-] [99|9999].

How to restrict user to process own company code data in z program

Hi All,
I have this issue. in asset management I would like to restrict user to process its own company data.
for example A who works in company 0123 only can process comp code 0123 data whereas X who is manager can process all company code data.
In the abap program, how can i achive this? by authority object? if yes what asset management authority object to use?
i have company code in selection screen. so may i know what method i can achive so that A can only execute co 0123 whereas X can do for all company code.

One way would be:
For all persons for whom you would like to 'control' the access to a specific company, SU01-->Parameters--->Give some parameter ID say XXX, & in PArameter Value key in the compnay code whose data it can process.
Please note that this is only one time process which has to be carried out for all the users. Then in your z-program in SELECTIO-SCREEN OUTPUT use GET PARAMETER ID 'XXX" Field w_value. If GET PARAMETER ID returns su-subrc = 0 then move w_value to your company code on the selection screen. Then Use LOOP AT SCREEN & make SCREEN-INPUT = '0' for company code so that company code will be displayed but protected thus not allowing the user to change the company code.

What would cause a single user not to be able to edit the fields in a form? All other users are able to edit the form.

I have a user who is unable to edit his time sheet in Adobe Reader XI. It worked fine in Adobe Reader 9.6. I recently upgraded his reader to version XI and he lost the ability to edit the fields. I re-imaged his machine and re-did his profile. He was able to edit his time sheet. A week later he's back to where he was. He was able to go to another machine with Adobe XI and edit his time sheet but he can't do it on his normal workstation. His time sheet shows the purple bar at the top telling him to fill out the form and that he can save data typed into the form. We're running XP SP3. How can I troubleshoot this?

My guess would be keyboard related. I'm guessing the field you're trying to fill has a keystroke event allowing only certain types of character. If the keyboard is faulty OR if the keyboard's layout (English, french, numLock, capLock) have been changed, allowed character could be someplace else.
I would first verify the presence of a particular format or a keystroke event in the format tab. I would then test my layout by typing charaters in another application such as notepad. Any chance the maximum character allowed would have mistaken be set to 0?

By Adobe, I'm guessing you mean Reader. Is it possible the default application on this other machine is Acrobat instead? If it is the case, the problem would probably be the way the file was created and maybe it would require to enable Extended features.......
