midi, wav, mp3.. As far as i know mp3 is the only file format
supported by flash. in this regard i want to know some extra
details Like: Is some other format which supported by flash?, Is
there any conversion process in flash to convert file in other
supported formats?, Or any tool which can convert uploaded file
on-the-fly?

Mr Evil, thanks a lot! That was very helpful.
Your code is going to help me quite a bit when I get to 24 bit audio.
I love that JSR page. I did miss that relevant FAQ question though.
Instead of checking for instanceOf i was casting within a try catch.
    It should work now.
Is there anyone alive in this forum?
I'm guessing that sound is not a popular application for Java. That was funny. I feel your pain.
I cant wait to get out of the nuts and bolts of java sound so i can

  • ITunes does not support audio format of iTubes store song

I downloaded some songs from the store but some of them say that they cannot be copied because the audio format is not supported by my iPod. The songs do not play in iTunes either. I have a nano with the latest update. What is happening and how do I fix it?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Contact the iTunes Email Support with the names of the songs using the link at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
Songs from the iTunes Store are in ACC format & should play in iTunes & on your iPod...So it sounds like the songs didn't download correctly.

  • Supported audio formats

I read at some posts that GarageBand iOS only supports aiff and wav in 44.1k. I just imported some Apple Loops which were in the caf format and also my ringtones in m4r are able to import to GarageBand.
Is there an up to date list of supported formats?

The problem with articles and references  is always that they could be outdated. I found it  more and more difficult when researching things on the internet especially when software  is updated so rapidly, it is like a moving target.
The referenced Apple article is from Oct 2012 but it is for GarageBand 1.0.1. The current version however is 1.3 and it might be outdated. Here is a screenshot of the online manual from GarageBand. If I interprets that correctly, it means you just can throw virtually any format at GarageBand and it just converts them to its required 44.1kHz/16bit format.
BTW, the built-in help manual in GarageBand is an "online" manual. Although bad when you are not on the internet but it makes sure that the information you are reading is always current (as long as Apple keeps it updated)
    Hope that helps

  • HT3775 i need codec format to support audio to play movies?

i need codec format to support audio to play movies

Just download the free, open-source media player VLC. It plays pretty much anything.Get VLC here:
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
Also, beware of dodgy internet sites that say you can't play a movie and offer to install a 'codec' for you. They're typically malware or spyware.

  • Finder media encoder, how can I add audio formats support?

I've noticed the feature where if you right click on a media file, you get an option in the popup menu to encode the file to some Apple-friendly format, I suppose.
I am trying to find a way to enhance this program's support for audio formats. I have tons of music in FLAC and a little bit in other formats like OGG and -gosh- wma, and I'd rather convert them with a native, Apple-written app than with anything else.
Any clues as to how we can enhance this Encoder feature's support for audio formats?

Many video and audio files can be added to keynote slides using the Insert Media browser - the sounds and videos need to be in a format recognized by iPad and need to be placed in the browser via iPhoto then synched to the iPad using iTunes. Sound files can be created using Garageband or Quicktime and appear as movies in the browser so it is best to place them in a separate album with descriptive names.
If you would like Apple to add additional features, give them somme feedback:

  • Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
    http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
5- What firmware version is your player at ?
Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
    Patrick

    never mind. figured it out!

  • ITunes support for 5.1 audio formats - a plea to Apple!

When will we finally be able to purchase and play high resolution 5.1 audio formats such as DTS, Dolby Digital, MLP, etc with iTunes?
I have a car (Acura) that has iPod integration, as well as an amazing audio system with DVD-A and DTS support. The DVD-A surround sound discs sound amazing. The weakest link is the iPod....I can't buy any 5.1 content from iTunes and have it on my iPod or iPhone.
As you know, DVD-A and SACD are basically dead physical formats, but the 5.1 content they carried is amazing. There is no shortage of 5.1 music material these days. The distribution is the only thing missing. I'm willing to pay a premium for 5.1 music content, but Apple has to sell it...please!!!
    Doug

ed2345 - Thanks for the link. Looks very interesting! I don't see any surround/5.1/DTS/DD files, though. I don't think ripping/playing 5.1 files is possible via the iPod/iPhone software without Apple's support. I could author my own DVD-As from these hi-res files, but that's a little more effort and $ for a tool, just for 2.0 files. I'm primarily interested in iTunes/iPod/iPhone 5.1 support, in any format of Apple's choosing, directly within the iPod/iPhone. Whatever iTunes chooses would likely be the defacto standard for 5.1 audio files. I'd just rather carry an iPod full of 5.1 files than physical discs for every album. Again, thanks for the info!
Roamingnome - I'm addressing both Apple and our constituency with this request to support 5.1 audio formats. I have already submitted feedback directly to Apple.

  • Premiere Pro Does Not Support Audio-Only Capture For Some Formats, Such As HDV?

In the PPro CS 5.5 Help file  under, "Recording audio", it says:
"Note: To capture an audio-only file from a digital video source, choose Audio from the Capture menu in the Logging pane of the Capture panel.
"Premiere Pro does not support audio-only capture for some formats, such as HDV."
I'm shooting in HDV and if I want to capture audio only, would I just need to switch my setting to DV?
The only thing is my Canon HV20's HDV audio is MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 16 bit, 48 kHz.
My DV setting is PCM audio, which I think is a better quality format, right?
Would there be any noticeable difference?
    Thanks.

Capture your HDV material in the normal way and just drag audio only from the source monitor to the timeline.

  • Stereo Mix Audio format not supported?

    Hi
I'm pretty new at streaming, and i need help with my audio setup, I'm selecting Stereo Mix from the dropdown menu in the FMLE 3.2 but when i do it says.
    "Audio format not supported."
"Audio format provided by audio capture device is not supported by this application."
I don't really understand why, since my mic device is supported. Why does this occur?
And how can I fix it?
I have a motherboard soundcard "VIA HD".
EDIT: I figured out why it doesn't work.
I went to the Recording devices menu to check the options but I noticed that Stereo Mix was "Currently unavailable" I figured maybe a program was using it but I don't know how to check what programs use the device.

I have noticed something else which is weird : the recording device is ALWAYS called "Line 1".
I tried renaming both the VAC playback and record devices Line 1 to other names, FMLE still displays "Line 1". This makes no sense (and Audacity sure doesn't behave that way, I have checked).
Should I need to make a complete uninstallation to wipe old FMLE settings ?

  • What Audio Formats are Supported?

    Hello.
This is a pre-sales question. I'm considering purchasing an iPod Shuffle, and have downloaded and read the PDF user's manual for it. I could not find the answer to a question I have.
What audio formats does the iPod Shuffle support?
Is .wmv supported? Or just .wav and .mp3?
Or does it support only a proprietary format?
    Thank you! J. Danniel

Here is the link which explains about the compatible audio formats for IPod.

After using iTunes Match, 5 songs have a "was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPhone".
I have deleted these songs and downloaded them from iTunes Match (they were "matched" and not "uploaded" files).  However, it still does not work.

I have the same issue with 8 songs in my library. All are "Matched" and I've tried deleting them and redownloading them from iTunes Match, but they won't play in iTunes or transfer to any of my iDevices.

  • All songs disappeared - audio format not supported by ipod

I went to sync my Nano today and instead ALL of the music was removed from it. Says can not sync music because audio format is not supported by iPod. We uninstalled itunes, restored the device and started again from scratch. The music synced fine, I bought an album on iTunes and when it synced ALL of the music was removed again and I got the same error for EVERY single song I tried to sync. Help?

That's very unusual and I have heard of such behavior. Since it seems to be an issue with iTunes, remove it and all other Apple software using the instructions in this Apple support document and install it from scratch.

Can you think of what may have changed since the last time the iPod successfully connected and synced with iTunes without any errors?

  • Petition: More audio format support?

Hi anyone thinks that creative should add in other audio formats like AAC, i heard it is a better format than mp3 and increase battery life and plus better sound quality.
Is it possible for creative to add sony's ATRAC format too? Anyone knows of any website that have alternate firmware for CREATIVE VISION M?

Because of the Zen V, I find that highly unlikely. The viewing photos while playing music and album art that people have been wanting for a while on the microphoto will probably never get it. so AAC? fat chance...
