URL Authorization Failures - Login Prompt Behavior

Given a web application W1 with two sets of (directories) of URL resources. First directory is protected with Role R1 mapped go Group Principal G1. Second directory is protected with Role R2 mapped to Principal G2. I hit a resource in first directory and am prompted for login. I login to a user account that has G1 but not G2. So I can get to the URL in the first directory. Then I try to hit a URL in the second directory. Authorization fails and I'm once again prompted for a logon.
A few questions related to this:
1. If I login with a different account, an entirely new subject is created but hooked to the existing HTTP session?
2. My original subject is gone, i.e. there is no stack of subjects and a way to revert to the previous subject?
3. Is there any way to change this behavior such that once I successfully logon to the web app, that's it. If my account does not give me the groups to hit certain URL resources in the app, I get a 403 not authorized instead of the re-prompt for login?
Thanks in advance for any information,
Jim

Has anyone solved issue 3? WL is also redirecting my requests to the login page when a user tries to access a protected URL for which they do not have the appropriate role (using form-based authentication).
All other containers with which I have worked would redirect to the resource identified in the error page handlers...e.g.:
<error-page>
<error-code>403</error-code>
<location>/error/403.html</location>
</error-page>

  • Authorization Failure Redirect URL in OAM

    Hi,
    From OAM policies i want to redirect a user to Authorization Failure page by configuring redirect URL for Authorization Failure. But user is always redirected to OAM operation error page (with an error message that URL .. has been denied for the user) in case of Authorization Failure..How to redirect the user to my AuthFail.html page ? I am able to redirect the user to AuthenticationFailure page incase of authentication failure..but not able to redirect in case of authorization failure..how to achieve this?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
    I am new to OAM and facing the same error in Authz Rule. Did your issue get resolved?
    When I tested the URL with access tester for authz failure scenario, I got Authorized Inconclusive.
    I do understand if I mention the AuthFail.html in the redirection URL Authz Inconclusive, the user would be able to see the appropriate error page. But I wanted to understand the reason for authz getting into inconclusive condition. Can someone provide me clarity on this?
    Thanks!

  • Exchange 2010 all mail clients with internal cached and internal non-cached mode users having connection status issues, login prompt -- external is fine either way

    Hello,
    I'm seeing an issue that started this past Monday with no recent change to our environment.
    External Outlook Anywhere users and Mobile users, OWA users are unaffected.
    Internal Users are affected when using Outlook of any version, 2010 or 2013.
    -Internal Users normally log into their workstation with their ad credentials, domain joined machines. Outlook opens without credentials prompting ideally.
    1 . Using Cached Mode:
    a. Login Prompts, slowness - Since Monday, users are getting prompted to login. The prompt goes away after logging in at startup. It is also causing high CPU
    on the workstations.
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office doesn't work. I can, however complete auto-setup for a new user, so autodiscover is not completely down for internal users.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows connecting status on highlighted entry below without ever establishing connection (just goes away).
    The outlook icon in the system tray says "Outlook is requesting data from the server":
    2. Using Non-cached mode
    a. No Login Prompt at startup, business as usual
    b. Free/Busy, Out of Office works fine. Autodiscover is fine.
    c. Checking Connection Status shows normal except, it has "casarray URL, then status is referral" it seams to flicker this constantly then go away intermittently.
    d. Main issue in non-cached mode is, sometimes a user will log into windows, open outlook and it will not open and says "server is unavailable. Retry, work offline, or cancel" I can try re-opening, same message.
    Only after logging out of windows, logging back in, I can get back into outlook. This is not every time, or consistent with specific users, but random.
    3. Lync Pop up  for credentials often, though entering the password.
    URLs are correct. Autodiscover, EWS, etc.
    Already tried bypassing our loadmaster load balancer with host files on clients. same issue regardless of casarray node.
    Not sure what is going on.
    Josh

    You have a hybrid configuration with Office 365, right?  You didn't provide this valuable piece of information.
    In Exchange Online PowerShell run this command:
    Get-OrganizationConfig | FL PublicFoldersEnabled
    If the value is "Remote" then users with Exchange Online mailboxes are looking to on-premises public folders.  Be sure that you have legacy pubic folder interoperability properly configured.

    We have several authenticated sharepoint sites on our intranet, and we are trying to create a PDF of a site (x levels down) using the Acrobat create PDF from web page feature.  When you try to create a PDF from a non-sharepoint, authenticated website, a login prompt appears asking for login credentials.  However, when you try to use the same feature on an authenticated sharepoint site, you do not get prompted for credentials and instead get an Authorization Failure error.  the popup says "Error: Nothing Done".  We have successfully PDF'd anonymous sharepoint sites on the WWW.  Has anyone successfully PDF'd an authenticated SharePoint site?

  • [SOLVED] Login Prompt Vs Blank Screen On Startup

    Hello there,
    Problem:
      - When booting into Arch I am either presented with the Login Prompt (Yay!) or a blank back lit screen (Boo!). The pattern is completely random. I can boot up 2-3 times in a row successfully then go on a streak of blank back lit screens and am forced to constantly reboot until I get it to work (see below):

    Search regarding blank screen turned up this thread, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151240 , which seemed relevant. It led to KMS though not sure exactly what that does even after reading the Wiki so I decided to post here rather than tinker with it and risk making things 100x worse than they already are.
    Any idea as to what could be causing my irregular boot behavior?

    cfr wrote:Although that thread seems similar, I'm not sure how this could be the same issue as I thought KMS required a suitable video driver. Still, you could try passing nomodeset on the kernel command line as described in that thread. The worst that will happen is that it won't work. (You can edit the line from the grub menu so if it doesn't work you can just reboot and be back to the same settings you had before.) I guess you'd have to boot a few times to know if it helped.
    Hmm, that seems to have fixed my problem. 9 successful reboots in a row. Figured with my erratic boot behavior as opposed to 100% blank screening that my problem was far worse when in fact the solution seems to have turned out to be quite simple.  Oopsie. My bad guys.
    Followed these steps to make the changes persistent, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_parameters , and seems to be holding up well. Will go ahead and marked as Solved and hope no more monitor boot problems arise.

    Nope. Nope. Yep.

    Cool, first time I've heard of this and just tested that out. Looks to be a wealth of information. Will have to remember this next time I have boot woes.

  • How to avoid login prompt when viewing reports

    Hello,
    I am trying to access a report that I have put in the shared reports folder
    I have copied the URL, see below, from the copy shortcut link.
    However I am being prompted for a User name and password
    http://server:port/OracleBAM/12345/reportserver/default.jsp?Event=viewReport&ReportDef=6&Buttons=False&ReportParameters=()
    Can you please advise
    a) If I can bypass or default a username and password in the URL
    b) If the above is not achievable then do I need to set up each person, viewing the report, with a username and password and somehow pass these credentials in with the URL.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    I am sure its too late to post a reply for this question but it will be useful for others.
    Yes, you can bypass the login prompt by implementing SSO to the BAM with a default username/password.
    You can write a simple java code to simulate the process of submitting a login form, thus allowing users to access weblogic protected resources, like BAM report URL, without re-entering the username and password in the login page.
    You can use HTTP client API to simulate Form Based HTTP Authentication. It will have to first post HTTP request to authenticate default user 'weblogic' and then from HTTP response get the cookie and pass it to the subsequent HTTP request (with the report URL) to access protected resource.
    I had the same requirement and it worked for me :).
    Thanks

  • Debugging: How can I find out what fires "Login-prompt"

    Hello!
    I'm writing an applet which reads 2 files on the server. The files are
    "above" .htaccess, and I don't have to enter username/password to read them.
    However, I DO get promptet for u/p when the applet loads. How can I possibly find out what generates the login?
    I have tried:
    1. modifying the .htaccess
    2. chmod 777 every file
    3. different approaches to reading the urls
    4. System.out.println("problem fired") on every possible location.
    to no use. I can't correct the problem when I don't know where it is.
    Can someone give me a hint to how I can find the event that fires the login-prompt.

  • ACS + Device Authorization Failure

    Good Afternoon:
    I hoping someone can help me out... I have an ACS configured with a group that is setup for admins. This group is mapped to an AD group. This is setup correctly. On each network device are the commands:
    aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    I can create a local user and place them into the aformentioned group and the TACACs authentication and authorization work fine. However, I cannot use that same local group mapped to a AD group and a user in that group. It passes authentication but I get an authorization failure in my logs (ACS) and a authorization failed message on the device.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    ACS has extensive logging capabilities that allow an administrator to troubleshoot any issue pertaining to the ACS server itself (for example, replication) or an AAA request problem (for example, an authentication problem) from NAS.

  • Login prompt appears for web app when sql db is not on same server as WebAp

    Hi,
    I am deploying a VS2005 web application on a server (which has crytalReportsviewer); lets call that server A. The database the crystal reports access are on a different server, server B. In this scenario, when I run the web application, and try to bring up the reports on the web page, I get login prompt. Even if I provide valid login credentials (I have set up a user for this purpose the behavior is erratic; for some reports the report is displayed and for others it errors out with 'unknown error' message.
    If I put the sql db on the same server, it works fine.
    I use the crystal reports application to update the database source. When I do this, I use Ole db connection and set the 'integrated security' to true. But setting the integrated security to true does not bypass the login screen on the web app.
    My question is, how do I set up the report database parameters (connection string etc) so that the user of the web application does not have to go through the login screen when the web application and the sql db does not reside on the same server.
    Thanks.

    That sound like a [Double-Hop|http://blogs.msdn.com/knowledgecast/archive/2007/01/31/the-double-hop-problem.aspx] issue.
    You'd install and configure Kerberos to hop over the credentials - see post: SQL Server 2005 integrated security.

  • Occasional Database Login prompts

    Post Author: Jon Webb
    CA Forum: .NET
    I'm have a problem with occasional logon info prompts when I refresh a report. I'm using Crystal Report .NET XIR2 with SQL Server Express. Normally, my reports work fine. The server and database are set dynamically at runtime. The code I use for this is:     Protected Sub SetDatabaseConnection(ByVal rd As ReportDocument)        Dim tlois As TableLogOnInfos = Me.CrystalReportViewer.LogOnInfo        Dim ci As New ConnectionInfo        ci.DatabaseName = DefaultDatabase        ci.IntegratedSecurity = False        ci.Password = Password        ci.UserID = User        ci.ServerName = DefaultInstance        For Each tloi As TableLogOnInfo In tlois            tloi.ConnectionInfo = ci        Next        If rd Is Nothing Then rd = Me.CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource        For Each table As Table In rd.Database.Tables            table.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = ci            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(table.LogOnInfo)        Next        For Each subreport As ReportDocument In rd.Subreports            For Each table As Table In subreport.Database.Tables                table.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = ci                table.ApplyLogOnInfo(table.LogOnInfo)            Next        Next    End SubSometimes, however, I get Database Login prompts when I refresh the reports. This happens with some reports and not others, even though I call the same method above for all reports. The Database Login prompt has the right server name, user, and password, but the database name is blank.The behavior varies over time.  Yesterday, for example, one of my reports was showing this behavior, and another wasn't. Today, without any code changes, I'm getting it in two reports. But a third report still works. All three reports use the same command for accessing the database data, and have the same subreport structure.Also, the behavior is client-dependent. I can run the report on one PC (using the same SQL Server) and the report works fine. On another client, I consistently get the login prompt with two reports but not another. I believe the problem only occurs where the server is remote. We've never seen it with a local SQL Server. All this leads me to think that something is happening behind the scenes with Crystal Reports. Perhaps the logon info is being cached somewhere and not reinitialized. I've tried rebooting my client machine and restarting the SQL Server to no avail. Does anyone have an idea what is going on here? This is a serious problem for some of our customers. • Login Server behavior problem

    Hello,
    I'm trying to have a couple of pages with restricted access
    on our website.
    Using DWMX2004 and Coldfusion on Windows XP.
    I used the login server behavior to achieve this.
    It seems to work fine when the user name (email address in
    this case) and password are not in the database, redirecting to the
    failed login page, but when the user and password are correct I get
    an error message ("Variable MM_LOGINACTION is undefined") and the

    I'm far from an expert, and I'm struggling to understand the

    iMac Troubleshooting topics section shows this topic for SnowLeopard10.6 and suggests that there may be a hard disk problem.  Recommendation was to startup iMac from the 10.6 install disk and use Disk Utility to attempt to repair the hard disk.  Lion 10.7.2 was downloaded so there is no disk to attempt this repair with.  Any suggestions or experience with the gray cloth screen in Lion and a progress bar under the Apple logo on boot up?  It seems to take a lot longer to boot up now to get a login prompt or desktop than when it was fresh out of the box in July 2011 with Snow Leopard 10.6  Thanks for your help!

    Hello
    just an idea
    first shut down your mac then , unplug your keyboard if is a wired one , or remove battery from your wirless keyboard then power up your mac , does the progress bar appear again ?
    or more simple try an other keyboard if is possible , preferably a wired keyboard

  • Avoid Database Login prompt when using CrystalReportViewer

    Is there a way to keep the Database Login prompt from coming up when using Crystal Reports runtime 2008 SP2? I'm using that plus Visual Studio 2008 to develop a Windows Form application to view reports on a client machine that accesses data on a seperate SQL Server 2005 machine. My customer would like to avoid having users manually enter anything everytime a report is opened with the Crystal Reports viewer.
    I've used the following code with ODBC and OLE DB report connections. When I use ODBC, the prompt comes up with Integrated Security checked which must be cleared. When I use OLE DB, the prompt comes up with Database Name blank and greyed out so I cannot manually enter it.
    Am I missing something here?
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms
    Public Class Form1
        Private Sub setDatabaseLogon(ByVal myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo)
            Dim logOnInfos As TableLogOnInfos = CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo
            For Each logOnInfo As TableLogOnInfo In logOnInfos
                logOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = myConnectionInfo
            Nex
        End Sub
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            Dim myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
            setDatabaseLogon(myConnectionInfo)
            myConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "ClearView"
            myConnectionInfo.UserID = "reports"
            myConnectionInfo.Password = "dstreports"
            myConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = False
        End Sub
        Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
            ConfigureCrystalReports()
        End Sub
    End Class

    Thanks Jonathan for the tip. I tried it before and after the setDatabaseLogin call yesterday, but got the same results. I'm still going to follow your suggestion because that makes more sense.
    Turns out it was the configuration of my ODBC/System DSN that was causing the problem. I reconfigured the System DSN by clearing the check box to provide username/password and now I don't get the Database Login anymore.
    I found a different blog post that answered the OLE DB issue I was seeing where the DatabaseName was coming up blank:
    Login Error Database at Runtime
    Haven't tried it yet and probably won't because I got the Viewer to work with ODBC the way I like it.
    Thanks for the help!
