How to avoid login prompt when viewing reports
Hello,
I am trying to access a report that I have put in the shared reports folder
I have copied the URL, see below, from the copy shortcut link.
However I am being prompted for a User name and password
http://server:port/OracleBAM/12345/reportserver/default.jsp?Event=viewReport&ReportDef=6&Buttons=False&ReportParameters=()
Can you please advise
a) If I can bypass or default a username and password in the URL
b) If the above is not achievable then do I need to set up each person, viewing the report, with a username and password and somehow pass these credentials in with the URL.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
I am sure its too late to post a reply for this question but it will be useful for others.
Yes, you can bypass the login prompt by implementing SSO to the BAM with a default username/password.
You can write a simple java code to simulate the process of submitting a login form, thus allowing users to access weblogic protected resources, like BAM report URL, without re-entering the username and password in the login page.
You can use HTTP client API to simulate Form Based HTTP Authentication. It will have to first post HTTP request to authenticate default user 'weblogic' and then from HTTP response get the cookie and pass it to the subsequent HTTP request (with the report URL) to access protected resource.
I had the same requirement and it worked for me :).
Thanks

How to avoid the prompt when verifing signature?
I sign the doc with my cert.
The cert is not trusted by Acrobat/Reader itself so when i try to verify the signature Acrobat/Reader will prompt the user cert is not trusted.
My question is how to avoid this prompt through Acrobat SDK or how to add my cert to trusted cert list through Acrobat SDK?
Thanks.Patrick Leckey wrote:
You will also see the BER Decoding error when you have a self-signed peer-to-peer cert in your Windows Cert Store, even if it is not the signature you are using to sign.
Start > Run > certmgr.msc
Look for any certs that have "peer-to-peer" in the Intended Purpose column
Remove that cert
Restart Acrobat
Give that a shot.
Patrick,I have not found the Intended purpose of cert names "peer-to-peer".
But I have just found the cert which will cause the signature failure.
The key is the cert can not be removed.
I'm very curious that why a cert has no relationship with the signature could cause the signature failure?
Is it a BUG of Acrobat/Adobe Reader?
If not how can i operate successfully?

CRVS2010 Beta - SQL Prompt when viewing report
Using integrated security SQL connections all works fine from development PC, but when I place out on Development server MS 2008, IIS 7.0 .net 4.0. Report loads but I get prompted for SQL server credentials from report, I select Integrated Security from the prompt but no luck. I have IIS7.0 Windows authentication and Impersomate turned on.
This is using latest .net4.0 crsytal beta.
I tested that a plain old integrated sql connection and sql text execute works from within code on server, so it is getting correct user impersonated, but report seems to be ignoring it or using anonymous.
Any suggestions please?

SP2010 - Documents migrated from different farm cause login prompts when opening..
We have 3 SharePoint farms (Dev/Test/Prod) and we migrated Word documents between them a couple of different ways.. AvePoint's DocAve, copy from Explorer view of the two farms and Download/Upload.
The documents were originally created on the development farm.
When we open documents in the production farm, the user is prompted with a login box to login to the development farm. New documents created in the production farm don't prompt.
Anyone know where / what information is being stored in the document that would reference the old farm? and how to clear it?Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that documents migrated from different farm cause login prompts when opening.
I try to reproduce the issue, however, everything works well.
I recommend as below:
Open the site in the browner, click tool->Compatibility View Setting->Add the site to be displayed in Compatibility View.
Click Tool->Internet Options->Security->Trusted Sites.
Click Tool->Internet Options->Security->Restricted sites->Allowed level for this zone: Medium.
Modify your registry settings for the WebClient service.
Go to the file's properties > Security > Advanced > and Inherit the permissions.

How to avoid the dialogue when converting from context menu
This is a follow-up to http://forums.adobe.com/message/2016146#443364 which was locked due to a bug.
i would like to know how i can avoid the 'save as' dialogue when using the context menu to convert a word file to pdf using windows XP/acrobat 8/word 2007.
so far, it always prompts me for the filename, which is annoying as it does not allow me to batch-convert several files and let the thing run its course.
the solution provided by Steve in the other thread does not work - even if the plugin from word does not propt for a filename, it still does when triggered from explorer/context menu.
so back to square one: how to avoid that dialogue when not opening word at all?
cheers, thanks for any help. michaelFor a permanent change, START>PRINTERS>right click on Adobe PDF printer and select properties>General>Printing Preferences>Adobe PDF Settings. Under the settings tab, uncheck the box related to asking for a name. Pretty sure that is the location, but it may vary with version.

How to create rtf template to view report in Word and Excel, with numeric f
Hi,
Please help me!
How to create rtf template to view report in Word and Excel, with numeric formatted fields (like this 999 999 999,99 with spaces between numbers) and then end user be able to process those fields with Excel tools (sum, etc).
Thank you.From what I have seen Excel can not handle 999 999 999.00. You can use 999999999.00 and then format it as you want in the xls bt you can not have values like 999 999 999.00 coming from publisher output and have functions on the values in Excel

How to avoid launching Labview when invoking VI by Teststand
Hi, friends.
I'm a learner of teststand. I wrote some VIs by Labview. Now I want to invoke them in teststand environment. But when I run the sequence. Labview will be automatically launched. How to avoid launching Labview when I run the sequence?
Thanks.
Solved!
Go to Solution.I'm not sure that I follow what you are saying.. But it sounds like when the VI is called, the LabVIEW development software is started and you want to avoid that.
If you create an executable or dll and call that from within TestStand, it should not call the development environment. You would need to have the LabVIEW run-time engine installed on the target PC.
It has been many years since I've used TestStand with LV, so my memory may not be accurate. I think the above had worked for me. However, it seems that I recall something about having the LV code in debug mode causing it to open the development environment.... but it's a distant memory. You're not using breakpoints where the LV VI is being called, are you?

Avoid Database Login prompt when using CrystalReportViewer
Is there a way to keep the Database Login prompt from coming up when using Crystal Reports runtime 2008 SP2? I'm using that plus Visual Studio 2008 to develop a Windows Form application to view reports on a client machine that accesses data on a seperate SQL Server 2005 machine. My customer would like to avoid having users manually enter anything everytime a report is opened with the Crystal Reports viewer.
I've used the following code with ODBC and OLE DB report connections. When I use ODBC, the prompt comes up with Integrated Security checked which must be cleared. When I use OLE DB, the prompt comes up with Database Name blank and greyed out so I cannot manually enter it.
Am I missing something here?
Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
Imports CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms
Public Class Form1
Private Sub setDatabaseLogon(ByVal myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo)
Dim logOnInfos As TableLogOnInfos = CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo
For Each logOnInfo As TableLogOnInfo In logOnInfos
logOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = myConnectionInfo
Nex
End Sub
Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
Dim myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
setDatabaseLogon(myConnectionInfo)
myConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "ClearView"
myConnectionInfo.UserID = "reports"
myConnectionInfo.Password = "dstreports"
myConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = False
End Sub
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
ConfigureCrystalReports()
End Sub
End ClassThanks Jonathan for the tip. I tried it before and after the setDatabaseLogin call yesterday, but got the same results. I'm still going to follow your suggestion because that makes more sense.
Turns out it was the configuration of my ODBC/System DSN that was causing the problem. I reconfigured the System DSN by clearing the check box to provide username/password and now I don't get the Database Login anymore.
I found a different blog post that answered the OLE DB issue I was seeing where the DatabaseName was coming up blank:
Login Error Database at Runtime
Haven't tried it yet and probably won't because I got the Viewer to work with ODBC the way I like it.
Thanks for the help! -

I would confirm your application pools are set up as suggested in the install documentation. This should resolve your issue.

DPM 2010 - Getting errors when viewing reports
Microsoft DPM Forum,
I am getting the following error when attempting to view reports in DPM 2010:
An error occurred during client rendering.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'DLS'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Cannot open database "DPMDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'servername\DPMR$servername'.
This is occurring after I rebuilt the OS on the DPM server to resolve a "tape system disconnect" issue that plagued us since November of 2013.
Any idea how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance,
JoeMike,
Thank you for that post. Yes, I saw that while I was researching a possible solution to the problem. No dice. However, I reached out to Prosenjit Kanjilal of the Microsoft DPM Support Team (as he was emailing me on our re-occurring issue
of Event ID: 15 errors - see other thread). He had me do the following:
Open SQL Studio and connect to the instance
Go to Security->Logins
Now Add 'servername\DPMR$servername' if it is not already added
I also had to add the
dbowner role to the DPMDB database under 'user mapping' for this specific user to actually resolve the issue. The user wasn't listed in the Logins in SQL Studio.
Thanks again!

How to avoid password prompt in shell script for zip password protection
Hi
I am trying to set password protection to my oracle database export backup. Once the backup completed, it should compress with a password protection. Thats the plan. Initialy we were using the gzip for the compression. Then realized that there is no password protection for the gzip. Started using zip option. I tried using
zip -P <password> filename
But it was throwing below error.
-bash-3.2$ zip -P expreports REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp
zip warning: missing end signature--probably not a zip file (did you
zip warning: remember to use binary mode when you transferred it?)
zip warning: (if you are trying to read a damaged archive try -F)
zip error: Zip file structure invalid (REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp)
Not quite sure why.
Then I used zip -e REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp.zip REPORTS_2013FEB14.dmp
But this prompting for the password. As I am trying to put the command in the script. It will be tough if it prompts for the password.
I would like to know how to avoid the password prompting by saving somewhere or how the code should be written. Tried using expect feature of shell script. Below was the code I tried. It didnt work.
[oracle@SF40V6636 test]$ cat repexp.sh
zip -e REPORTS_imp.log.zip REPORTS_imp.log
expect "Enter password:"
send "imprep"
expect "Verify password:"
send "imprep"
So please help in avoiding this password prompt or let me know how to change the code.
Thanks
SHIYAS MHow about using gpg and adding a secret key to the requirement of a password? No one should be able to decrypt your file, not by knowing only the password.
1. Generate a public and private key pair:
$ gpg --gen-key
When it shows "We need to generate a lot of random bytes…" open another terminal session and type "dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null" to create traffic. When the public and secret key created and signed you can Ctrl-C the dd command.
To see what you have created:
$ gpg --list-keys
2. Encrypt and gzip your stuff:
$ tar zcf stuff.tgz file_or_folder
$ gpg recipient "Some Name" encrypt stuff.tgz
$ rm -f stuff.tgz
3. Decrypt and extract the archive:
$ gpg batch yes --passphrase "password" -d stuff.tgz.gpg > stuff.tgz
$ tar zxvf stuff.tgz
Again, knowing the password alone will not let anybody decrypt your stuff. -
How to avoid shared locks when validating foreign keys?
I have a table with a FK and I want to update a row in that table without being blocked by another transaction which is updating the parent row at the same time. Here is an example:
CREATE TABLE dbo.ParentTable
PARENT_ID int NOT NULL,
VALUE varchar(128) NULL,
CONSTRAINT PK_ParentTable PRIMARY KEY (PARENT_ID)
GO
CREATE TABLE dbo.ChildTable
CHILD_ID int NOT NULL,
PARENT_ID INT NULL,
VALUE varchar(128) NULL,
CONSTRAINT PK_ChildTable PRIMARY KEY (CHILD_ID),
CONSTRAINT FK_ChildTable__ParentTable FOREIGN KEY (PARENT_ID)
REFERENCES dbo.ParentTable (PARENT_ID)
GO
INSERT INTO ParentTable(PARENT_ID, VALUE)
VALUES (1, 'Some value');
INSERT INTO ChildTable(CHILD_ID, PARENT_ID, VALUE)
VALUES (1, 1, 'Some value');
GO
Now I have 2 transactions running at the same time:
The first transaction:
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED;BEGIN TRAN
UPDATE ParentTable
SET VALUE = 'Test'
WHERE PARENT_ID = 1;
The second transaction:
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED;BEGIN TRAN
UPDATE ChildTable
SET VALUE = 'Test',
PARENT_ID = 1
WHERE CHILD_ID = 1;
If 'UPDATE ParentTable' statement runs a bit earlier, then 'UPDATE ChildTable' statement is blocked untill the first transaction is committed or rollbacked. It happens because SQL Server acquires shared locks when validating foreign keys, even
if the transaction is using read uncommitted, read committed snapshot (read committed using row versioning) or snapshot isolation level. I cannot see why change in the ParentTable.VALUE should prevent me from updating ChildTable. Please note that ParentTable.PARENT_ID
is not changed by the first transaction, which means that from FK's point of view whatevere is set to the ParentTable.VALUE is never a problem for referential integrity. So, such blocking behavior seems to me not logical. Furthermore, it contradicts to the
MSDN:
Transactions running at the READ UNCOMMITTED level do not issue shared locks to prevent other transactions from modifying data read by the current transaction. READ UNCOMMITTED transactions are also not blocked by exclusive locks that would prevent the
current transaction from reading rows that have been modified but not committed by other transactions.
Does anybody know how to workaround the issue? In other words, are there any tricks to avoid shared locks when validating foreign keys? (Disabling FK is not an option.) Thank you.
AlexeyIf you change the primary key of the parent table to be nonclustered, there is no blocking.
Indeed, when I update ParentTable.VALUE, then:
in case of PK_ParentTable is clustered, a particular row in the clustered index is locked (request_mode:X, resource_type: KEY)
in case of PK_ParentTable is non-clustered, a particular physical row in the heap is locked (request_mode:X, resource_type: RID).
and when I update ChildTable.PARENT_ID, then:
in case of PK_ParentTable is clustered, this index is used to verify referential integrity:
in case of PK_ParentTable is non-clustered, again this index is used to verify referential integrity, but this time it is not locked:
It is important to note that in both cases SQL Server acquires shared locks when validating foreign keys. The principal difference is that in case of clustered PK_ParentTable the request is blocked, while for non-clustered index it is granted.
Thank you, Erland for the idea and explanations.
The only thing that upsets me is that this solution cannot be applied, because I don't want to convert PK_ParentTable from clustered to non-clustered just to avoid blocking issues. It is a pity that SQL Server is not smart enough to realize that:
ParentTable.PARENT_ID is not changed and, as a result, should not be locked
ChildTable.PARENT_ID is not actually changed either (old value in my example is 1 and the new value is also 1) and, as a result, there is no need at all for validating the foreign key.
In fact, the problem I described is just a tip of the iceberg. The real challenge is that I have deadlocks because of the FK validation. In reality, the first transaction has an additional statement which updates ChildTable:
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED;
BEGIN TRAN
UPDATE ParentTable
SET VALUE = 'Test'
WHERE PARENT_ID = 1;
UPDATE ChildTable
SET VALUE = 'Test'
WHERE PARENT_ID = 1;
The result is famous message:
Msg 1205, Level 13, State 51, Line xx
Transaction (Process ID xx) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
I know that if I change the order of the two statements, it will solve the deadlock issue. But let's imagine I cannot do it. What are the other options?
