URL encoding in web.show_document
Hi.
I have to pass some parameteres with spaces and such in them. Is there any available pl/sql functions to url encode/decode ?
Thanks.
I had some trouble though, as the compiler didn't recognize it. It turned out that this package did not exist in the v8 db we're using for development, but the recent 9i production db had it.
We decided to put the parameter in question into the db, and extract it from the report instead of passing it on the url...

Simple question: calling URL link with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is not working
Hi folks,
this should be an easy question, but I have no idea why it's not working :-(.
In one of my form, I would like to place an URL link behing button.
For this purpose I'm using below code:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://www.google.com','_blank');But when above code is executed, nothing happens :-(.
Could it be because I'm using it within modal type of window?
Thanks,
Tomas
I'm using Oracle Forms 10ghave you checked with using self instead of blank to see if it will replace your current page with the one you are tyring to call?
Have you got any other firefox plugins running such as Ad block? can you try disabaling all addons and even the internal pop-up blocker jus to see if this will work?
if self works but blank does not how about having the main app called from a multi frame page. one frame with the app in and the other frame with some javascript that can be called to open a new window? dont know if that will work and its late so probably not thought it thorugh fully :) -
Problem when using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT and passing in lexical parameter
Hi,
I got a blank page with error "An error has occured while trying to use this document" when I tried to use web.show_document and passing a lexical parameter to 10g report on 10gAS. The URL in the web.show_document is:
http://<srvname>:<portnum>/reports/rwservlet?server=repserver90&report=myrpt.rdf&destype=Cache&desformat=pdf&userid=<usr>/<pw>@<db>&where_clause=where%20product_type%20in%20('REPORT')
If I change the desformat to htmlcss, it is fine to display the report. But doesn't work with desformat=pdf. The pdf file has been generated in the cache. Why can't it display on the screen.
Also I tried to use double quote the value for where_clause. The pdf report showed up. But it ignored the where clause.
Experts please help.
YingI use lexical parameters and they work fine, but I use a parameter list. The code is contained in a form that is called by all forms that wish to run a report. This way you only need the logic for printing in a single form. If you want the form, email me at [email protected]

Hi,
I use Developer9iDS 9.0.2 with installed Patch1 on Win2000 with IE 6.0.
I need an HTMLCSS report in lithuanian language and want to prewiev them in new window in browser with Baltic(Windows) encoding.
When I produce my report with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT and parameters REPORT_DESFORMAT=HTMLCSS and REPORT_DESTYPE=CACHE
I found, that my report is OK in cache with all needed lithuanian characters.
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=WINDOWS-1257">
</head>
<body dir=LTR bgcolor="#ffffff">
</body></html>
But when I open it with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT (MyURL/getjobid'||vJobId||'?server=<myserver>,'_blank');
my browser shows it in bad encoding for first time and every time I must set encoding manualy to Baltic(Windows).
That's will be very difficult for my users!!!
I found in source that another one HTML document stands at the begining of my document followed by my document
<html>
<head>
<base href="MyURL/reports/rwservlet/getfile/HXDcQdI8VQ/QC6Q=/58327007.htm">
</head></html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=WINDOWS-1257">
</head>
<body dir=LTR bgcolor="#ffffff">
</body></html>
I think, that first docume[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.Sorry, my question was ower 1 Kb. My question is:
I am thinking, that additional document without META may be reason for bad initial encoding.
Am I right? How can I suppress this first document? Is there another way for solution of this problem?
Sorry for my english. Thanks for help!

Hello,
In my company, we are using Oracle Forms 10.1.2.0.2.
After inserting a URL, users are logged in. There is one page in the application that uses a button to open a PDF in a new page.
Code behind this button:
web.SHOW_DOCUMENT('URL', '_blank');
For internet explorer 6, there is no problem, but last week, some users have upgraded their browser to Internet Explorer 7. When they now push the PDF button, nothing happens. No error is given.
Could someone please help me..Actually, I think a couple of my colleagues have seen this with IE7 recently... It seemed to be related to individual PCs rather than anything in our software, and was sort-of sporadic. I think on one of the PCs, there'd been an update to the Google toolbar and that had caused problems (and of course, if you have Google toolbar, that has its own popup blocker that you need to disable for the site in question.)
Sorry to be vague, but I would look for any other browser plug-ins on the machine that might be causing issues.

Sending document to oracle xml gateway web service and body is url encoded
Hello,
a question from a complete newbie to web services. I have some code that is sending a soap message to an oracle xml gateway web service. In the soap message the values in the soap body look like < ;CNTROLAREA> ;
when I would be expecting <CNTROLAREA>. What I have been told is that the content of the ReceiveDocument element has been url encoded which causes the < and to correct it I need to change the paramater type from object to xmlnode and to build the request as an xmldocument. The xmlnode and xmldocument comes from a .net guy so I've been trying to find the equivalent in java but am not having any luck. I have a lot of reading to do but was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction on how to correct the problem. I captured the soap message being sent using tcpmon. Why does the body have the < instead of the < as I was expecting and is there an xmldocument type? The header part of the soap message looks as I expect. "><soapenv:Header><ns1:XMLGateway_Header xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/fnd/XMLGateway"><ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>XML</ns1:MESSAGE_TYPE>. It is being sent as a com.oracle.xmlns.apps.fnd.XMLGateway.XMLGateway_Header type.
thanks
Thanks

Can web.show_document use a Windows filesystem-style URL?
Hi,
I need to open Word documents from Forms9i.
The docs are on a Win2k fileserver located on the same LAN with the user desktops, while the Forms 9iAS server (a Win2k box itself too) is remote, over a WAN link.
The folder in the fileserver where the docs reside is mapped as a network share in the 9iAS server.
The mechanism currently envisaged for viewing the Word docs is:
- use the show_document built-in for launching a second Internet Explorer window, from the Forms JInitiator main window on the desktop.
- the URL passed to show_document is http://9iAS_IP_address:port/path_to_fileserver_share/document_name.doc
In this way, each Word document to be viewed on a desktop will have to go through a round-trip from the fileserver over the WAN to the 9iAS Forms server, then back over the WAN from the 9iAS webserver to the desktop running the main window of the application.
Assuming that the same document folder in the fileserver is mapped as a network drive for all desktops (e.g. as N:), could we pass to show_document a Windows-style URL like "N:\document_name.doc" or "file://N:\document_name.doc"?
Will the browser (which is MS IE) then open the document from the local LAN share, rather than through http and the WAN roundtrip?
We cannot upgrade to 10g and adding any other add-in such as WebUtil to the forms triggering the viewing of Word docs is out of the question (at this time); this is a COTS packaged application.
Note: I am not a Forms developer, have no experience and no access to a Forms development environment, so I can't try for myself.
Thank you very much,
GabrielGabriel,
Francois has a good point! Try Frank's example. It will work. I use it quite often.
web.show_document('file://h:\documents\ref\abcde123.doc','_BLANK');

Executing a sql in web.show_document before opening the page with URL
Hi,
I have a function that returns a varchar2 into web.show_document in the form. Is there a way that web.show_document executes the varchar2 and get the output and open the URL. The result of the varchar2 execution is a URL.
CREATE TABLE MIS_TBL (MIS_COD VARCHAR2(10), MIS_VAL VARCHAR2(100) );
insert into MIS_TBL(MIS_COD,MIS_VAL) values ('RPTURL','/print');
Create or replace FUNCTION Get_String_MIS
in_v_MIS_Cod IN MIS_Tbl.MIS_Cod%TYPE ) RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
l_v_String MIS_Tbl.MIS_val%TYPE;
BEGIN
SELECT MIS_Val INTO l_v_String
FROM MIS_Tbl
WHERE MIS_Cod = in_v_MIS_Cod;
RETURN l_v_String;
END;
In the forms I have the following code in a trigger, uniform across many forms.
web.show_document(Get_String_MIS('RPTURL') || '/' || l_v_File_Name);
I can set any value to RPTURL from a reference data form. I want the above statement to execute the varchar returned by Get_String_MIS('RPTURL') and send the result of the execution to show_document.
The result of get_string_mis should be 'http://'||sys_context('userenv','host')||':9999/print' and this when executed gets the actual servername from sys_context('userenv','host')
At this time, I cannot change the function and many forms. I only have control of changing the value in MIS_TBL.
Any solution to my problem is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
RaviMaybe you could rename your table and use a view pointing to that table instead? Then you could do the resolution directly in the database.
Something like
SELECT MIS_COD, MIS_VAL FROM MIS_TBL_NEW WHERE MIS_COD!='RPTURL'
UNION ALL
SELECT 'RPTURL', 'http://'||sys_context('userenv','host')||':9999/print' MIS_VAL FROM DUAL -
Web.SHOW_DOCUMENT (url, target);
if I will use
web.show_document('javascript:window.close();','_self');
where it is looking for javascript. I'm afraid that something I did not configure. If somebody can explain how it is working then you try call javascript in web.show_document?
Pleas helpI wouldn´t suggest using this coding style..
web.show_document('javascript:window.close();','_self');
Why ? Well its seems to me you would want to centralise your javascript in one place.
Why not use ..
web.show_document('html/close.html','_self');
..and then add the javascript to the close.html file.
If things should change in the future( add extra javascript..) you only have to edit close.html and not all the forms where you added this call.
Ofcourse you have to define aan extra virtual mapping
for /html/ in the web-orion file for the developer installation and/or the forms90 config file for the application server installation.
Seems a better alternative.

Edited by: Mostafa Abolaynain on Jun 18, 2009 7:50 PMIf I am remembering correctly, some changes were necessary in order to make this work with 10.1.2.3. So, if you are using the old jar which you used in previous versions, I would recommend obtaining the one specifically updated for 10.1.2.3. Refer back to the OTN page which has the download and choose the link that references the new version:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/techlisting10gR2.html
Be sure to clear the client Jar cache before re-testing. This is not the same as the browser cache. -

To access pdf files from application server using web.show_document
Hello!
If my pdf file is copied in Oracle_home/forms90/java directory.Then using web.show_document i can access the pdf file.But I can't copy all the pdf files in /forms90/java directory.We have lacs of pdf files which I want to keep in my own directory.But my requirement is if my pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in (Linux application server) ie in my own directory where I store all the pdf files.Then web.show_document does not open the pdf file.It says page cannot be displayed.For that I think we have to configure the directory /home2/docs directory as a webserver.From otn I got something like forms90.conf file in application server where we have to set virtual directory mapping etc.If the pdf is in local machine then in orion-web.xml file we have to mention real path and save the file and shutdown oc4j instance and restart it again.I tried it.But it is not working.Can u give me step by step instructions to solve this problem.I found a few links in discussion forum.But is doesn't work out.My pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in Linux application server.Please treat it as urgent.

JayashreeHi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.
