URL Load Balancing through Web Dispatcher

Dears,
We are facing heavy load on our portal server.
We are planning to installed one J2ee Dialog instance for it.
Please suggest how can we configure Url Load Balancing through Web Dispatcher.
Regards,
Shivam

HI Shivam,
While installing webdispatcher you provide Hostname and http message server port of j2ee of CI .
So , webdispatcher communicate directly with message server, where message server check which application server is free and hence forward the request to that specify application server of j2ee instance.
Pls find the below link for configuring webdispatcher

  • Load Balancing through Web Dispatcher

    Dears,
We are using ECC 6.04 with two application servers and EP 7.01 installed on AIX and database is oracle.
We are using ESS in EP.
In our current scenario when User login into EP to use ESS they get connected to only central instance of our ECC server.
Now we want to do load balancing in EP so that users can connect to central and dialog instances of our ECC server according to available work load.
Please suggest how can we configure it.
    Regards,
    Shivam Mittal

    Dear Mark,
    Thanks for the reply.
Presently in our ECC server,We have three logon group everyone pointing to different instance.
Please confirm how can we create logon group inclusive of all instances and In EP also where we need to maintain
settings to connect to backend system via logon group.
    Please suggest.

  • Cisco Load balancer and Web Dispatcher to the same portal

    Hello Experts,
We have implemented intranet portal with Cisco as the load balancer. Now we need to expose this intranet to the outside world as an extranet portal. So the same portal will be accessed from both intranet and from outside. We are thinking of installing a web dispatcher in the DMZ so that outside users can access the Web Dispatcher URL to access the intranet portal. In effect intranet users will use load balancer and extranet users will use Web Dispatcher to access the same portal. Now my question is if we configure Load Balancer and Web Dispatcher to the same portal, will the portal be able to load balance properly? Is this the right approach?
    Thank You,
    mansooralip1

    Dear Andrew,
We need to provide access to our intranet to some outside companies for them to also use some of our portal applications. As per your answer, I understand that I can configure Web Disptacher to talk to the Cisco Load Balancer of our portal. In this case Web Dispatcher will work just as a reverse proxy. But when I discussed this with one of our basis resource, he told me that when we install and configure Web Dispatcher, it always ask for the Message Server URL and Port number, even if I just want to use Web Dispatcher as a Reverse Proxy. If his concerns are valid, I do not think I will be able to configure Web Dispatcher to access the cisco Load Balancer because I cannot put Cisco load banacer URL and port instead of the Message Server URL and Post Number. Can you kindly share your comment on the same?
Now the second part of my question, if Web Dispatcher cannot be configured to talk to Load Balancer(as mentioned by our basis resource), I will have to use two load balancers. One web Dispatcher in DMZ as a Load Balancer *** Reverse Proxy for the external users. Second the internal Cisco Load Balancer for the intranet users. So the same portal will be accessed by two load balancers. My question here is, in this set up, can the portal work efficieintly here by distributing equal loads two both the server instances?
    Thank You,

  • Load Balancer and Web Dispatcher "keepalive page"

I would like our monitoring and load balancer to be able to perform http status check against SAP web dispatchers.
Is there a built in "keepalive" page that can be queried within Web Dispatcher, or will a URL rule be needed?

  • Load balancing SMA web service and SMA end point URL

    Hi,
We have set up the recommended 3 servers with Azure Pack, SMA Web Service and Runbook Worker.  We are now wanting to configure the Azure pack portal to setup the SMA endpoint url for the web service.  Before we do that, we are assuming we should
load balance the web services to answer on 1 url (ie, smaws.domainname.com).
    1. Is there any guidance or things to consider when load balancing the 3 web services to answer to 1 url.  We will probably use f5 since that is what we use.
    2. The end point url that we configure for Azure Pack automation should be this load balanced URL correct?
    3. Should we have the Azure pack installed on just one of the servers or all 3.  We did all 3 but it seems like server2 and 3 just redirect to 1 anyway so I am assuming the URL for Azure pack is stored in a db somewhere.
    4. Are there any other components of SMA/Azure Pack that should also be load balanced?
    Thanks
    Thanks Lance

So in this case you need to register the SMA Runbook Workers (do this on machine 1):
    $webService
    = "https://localhost"
    $workers
    = (Get-SmaRunbookWorkerDeployment
    -WebServiceEndpoint
    $webService).ComputerName
    if($workers
    -isnot [system.array]) {$workers
    = @($workers)}
    $workers
    += "MachineName2"
    $workers += "MachineName3"
    New-SmaRunbookWorkerDeployment
    -WebServiceEndpoint
    $webService -ComputerName
    $workers

  • Web URL Re-direction thru Web Dispatcher

Has anybody done web url re-direction using Web Dispatcher. I want to redirect URLs. Please advise what configuration I need to carry out.
    Thanks.

    Hi!
I guess your sapwebdisp is talking to the Message Server of the Portal behind it. So what you have is the following
    situation:
User connects to 'http://sapwebdispname:sapwebdispport/irj/portal' and this URL stays like that regardless
of the Portal-Server the user is actually working on.
To achieve what you outlined you will have to make the sapwebdisp answer to port 80 and the desired
hostname. Everything else should be handled in the background.
The configuration item icm/server_port_xx will have to contain the HOST Parameter
    Example:
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=80, TIMEOUT=45, EXTBIND=1, HOST=www.company.com
Where EXTBIND=1 is required if your OS does not allow ports  to specify that the port should not be bound to all host names (default), but only to the specified host. In this way the host with only one open port can be reached under various URLs.
In parallel you need to make sure that DNS yields the desired results for the name you want to use in the URL.

    Jörg

  • URL redirect to ECC through web dispatcher

    Hi,
I need to forward the  link
    http:// 85.89.237.93/zincontact?sap-client=200?opid=$(operatorid)?cli=$(cli)?qid=$(queueid)?dato=$(startcalldate)?  viderefort=$(forwarded)
    to
    http:// vindevde1:8020//zincontact?sap-client=200?opid=$(operatorid)?cli=$(cli)?qid=$(queueid)?dato=$(startcalldate)?viderefort=$(forwarded)
    where vindevde1 is ECC box.
Here operatorid , queueid , startcalldate  will change in runtime.
I set the parameter icm/HTTP/redirect_0 as given below.
    icm/HTTP/redirect_0 = PREFIX=/zincontact?sap-client=200?opid=$(operatorid)?cli=$(cli)?qid=$(queueid)?dato=$(startcalldate)?viderefort=$(forwarded) ,
    TO=/zincontact?sap-client=200?opid=$(operatorid)?cli=$(cli)?qid=$(queueid)?dato=$(startcalldate)?
    viderefort=$(forwarded),HOST=vindevde1,PROT=HTTP,PORT=8020
    Please help me on this.

    Hi again,
    >Now is it possible to access the service through url http://85.89.237.93 from internet or I have to use http://vinweb01:8101/ as >in web dispatcher server ?
Sorry but you are really difficult to understand.
If you want to access your ECC system from the internet through the web dispatcher, the web dispacher should be in a DMZ and have 2 IP address : 1 published on the internet and one to access the internal network.
Usually you would configure the web disptcher to listen on the standard ports 80 for HTTP and 443 for HTTPS.
If vinweb01 is the name of your web disptcher as published on internet DNS, you would access to ECC with the URL
    http://vinweb01.
All of this is explained in detail in help.sap.com. You should really read the documentation...

  • Load balancing with java dispatcher

    Hello,
We have installed a central instance(CI) on one host and a dialog instance (DI) on another host. No I can access the CI on hostname1 and port 50100 and the DI on hostname2 and port 50000.
Is it possible to do a load balancing without the web dispatcher and without a hardware load balancer?
Maybe it is possible to to use the java dispatcher of the CI or DI to give work to the other instances?
I hope some one can help.
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi David,
to keep it short and simple: no, you can't.
You have to use some kind of loadbalancing in front of the servers...

  • Call EP and ERP through web dispatcher

    Hi,
I have configure multiple system on Web dispatcher EP and ERP.
My issue is our company do not want to publish EP and ERP over the internet but by the web dispatcher uses as a reverse proxy i want to publish the web dispatcher only now my EP called successfully over the internet but WDA application is not working cause it's redirects the directly to ERP so error occur's page not found.is there any way-out to call internally the ERP system.
    Regards:
    Akash Ahuja

    Hi Akash,
As per my understanding from your message. If your EP system called successfully through internet , then your ERP system also should visible via internet. kindly check with your Network team that the ERP system there must be firewall settings to open. For internal call out you can use "redirect menthod" for portal using instead ofhttp://<host>:<port>/irj use http://<host>:<port>/redirect. To change the authentication for another application use:http://<host>:<port>/redirect?url=/customapp.
Need more information about your issue.
    Thanks,
    Brindavan

  • Web load balancer for web application server

    Hi.
We are planning to very large system (6,000 users) and They will use BSP application.
So, We need web load balancing method.
I think We have two choice : L4 switch or SAP Web Dispacther.
Is there any recommendation for web load balancing method ?
Which one is better for large user load balancing ?
    Regards, Arnold.

Another good advantage of Web dispatcher is web based monitoring, SSL config etc.

  • Load Balancing multiple web servers

    Hi All:
I need to load balance 2 different web servers using sticky connections on a LocalDirector 416.
I need to use cookie-passive mode, which of course relies on a cookie set by the web server.
Problem: The name of the session cookie is different on each web server (IIS) and I'm not sure that I can change it.
Question: What do I pass to the sticky command as the name of the cookie?
    Any ideas?
    craig

fortunately the cookie are different on the 2 servers otherwise this feature would not work.
The value you enter after the keyword cookie-passive is a 'name' and can be whatever you want (you can also leave it blank/empty).
The LD will learn the cookie directly from the server.
    See the documentation at :
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/localdir/ldv42/421guide/42ch05.htm#xtocid8565101
I hope this answer your question.

  • Modifying the goto URL - load balancer configuration

    Hi,
I am trying to find the location of the display.template which I can modify to change the "goto" parameter URL.
    Objective:
When I hit my loadbalancer URL "http://172.11.124.23/portal"
It basically can forward the request to ports 8080,8081 or 8082.
but I see the following in the browser after the redirection
    http://myportal.domain.corp:8080/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://172.11.124.23/portal/dt
    instead of
    http://myportal.domain.corp:8080/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://myportal.domain.com/portal/dt
so basically I get the acess manager login page but after authentication it goes back to the loadbalancer since the goto URL is'nt right.and load balancer again sends the request back to access manager. So it kinda loops back and forth betn load balancer and access manager.
I read on the forum which says display.template should be modified to correct the goto URL.
I am working in linux env.I tried changing the display.template at the following location but I dont see what I want.
    /var/opt/sun/portal/portals/portal1/desktop/default/LoginProvider
Can you point me in the right direction.!
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • Load balancing of web servers in Siebel Analytics v 7.7.1?

    Hi Experts,
Can we load balance the Webservers in Siebel Analytics 7.7.1 version? If Yes, can you please give me the steps how to setup this?
    Thanks,
    Madhukar

    Hello Mr. Tripathi ,
Option 2 is the more typical way to increase capacity.   Of course you can also increase capacity by simply adding additional server nodes to a single instance.  if you are trying avoid downtime due to loss of one of the application servers, option 2 will still work.  Just because the primary application server goes down does not mean the secondary will become unavailalbe.  There are some cases where the secondary server could be interrupted, such as if the jms provider was on the primary instance, but there is an automatic fail-over of jms provider and other funcionality such as user sessions.
I think option 2 is the most easy to implement for you.  Having 2 seperate systems  access the same database could cause some complications with DB locking which are hard to troubleshoot.
    Regards,
    Nathan

  • How are JNDI lookups load balanced through software?

Presumably they are not generally speaking.

JNDI lookups handled if the client isn't specify a specific node in their

Is there any way of doing that with one nic only?
