URL navigation - CC&B V2.2.0
I'm trying to build a URL that will be completed by a IVR when a user inputs an account. If the account has many persons it shows a list of person in the Control Center, if there is only one person it goes to the account information tab in the same page. An example of an URL is http://localhost:6500/cis.jsp?location=controlCentralQuery&ACCT_ID=5922116763
controlCentralQuery is one of the navigation options that comes with the demo database.
the account number is Mark Brazil account.
I tried using this navigation option with 1, 2 or all 3 parameters ( PERM_ID, ACCT_ID, PER_ID ).
The result is a the account context shows the account information but the Control Center page is empty.
What is missing in the url?

Actually, We obtained that when we write in a browsers URL domain "the domain" redirect to "http://domain/apex/f?p=600", and that appear in "browser url" but we want to know if is posible to change that without use frames.

URL Navigation not working for non-super admin
I am trying to set up a URL navigation to Home>>Portal Information page in End-User role, so I created a URL as
http://portalserver/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/pages/com.sap.portal.portal_information
This link works fine for users in super admin role. For other users, this link bring them into EP and show a page with no content (only header and TLN). Does anyone know where to look to fix this? All users can go to Home>>Portal Information via normal navigationHi Ben,
this is sometimes confusing, as there are quite some "Portal Information" Pages in the PCD. Some are as objects in the Portal Content Studio Navigation (as the one you mentioned), some are copied in Roles like the End-User-Role and not linked by Delta-Link.
The best thing to do is to login with a normal user, navigate to Home -> Portal Information, and from the Page Title Bar - Context Icon you choose "Add to Browser Favorites". In your Browser Bookmarks you will then see the correct NavigationTarget.
My guess is that it will be: http://portalserver/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.eu_ws/com.sap.portal.portal_information

Open Firefox 4 in new window gives a Window frame and address bar does not refresh the current url
Using Firefox 4 in Windows 7
I have customised the position of tabs (Tabs on top) and which toolbar items I would like to see.
The first window I open of firefox 4 always has the configuration as I set it.
Whenever I open a new window of firefox either:
- Right-click a link to open in a new window
- Click a link anywhere (such as an email) to open a new window
- When a website opens a page in a new window
Bad Results:
- The new window does not have the configuration as set in the main window (Tabs on top)
- The new window has a windows type window frame around the firefox window (see two sets of window controls eg. "minimise", "restore" and "close")
- The open page does not show the url - navigating to a new page within this window will not update the url :: strangely enough clicking the url page icon will update the url as it should be
- Sometimes when restarting firefox, it will open the first main window with the remembered tabs and then open approx 8 or so blank new windows as described aboveThis issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This forum has been a greate help, I learned a lot by asking questions here.
Have a customized query that generated a link icon to another page. The url pass the primary key along with some item values to the linked page. It works.
My question is if I compared my url link (by hovering the mouse to the link icon) to a link that was generated by APEX using same primary key and items, I see my homemade url exposes all the item values that I have passed to. However, apex generated page only exposed the primary key value, the rest seems a combination of hex charactier. How can I make it behave like the apex generated link icon ? thanks.

I am not sure if there is any direct way to do that, however %2c is the standard HTML url encoding character which represents a comma(",") and %20 is for space.

If you are interested in hiding values in the url you can encrypt the item values before page branch and decrypt using the same algorithm once you reach to the target page. But this will slow down the page branching and also it require extra efforts to develop page branching algorithm of each url navigation. Thanks.

How to add Friendly URLs in Weblogic Portal?

We are developing a portal using Weblogic 10gR3. Right now the URL's that are getting formed are very long which includes the nfpb, nfls, pagelabel e.t.c. The requirement is to have a very user friendly url something like http://www.x.com/portal/<<pageLabel>>
The Weblogic documentation mentions something about URL compression, however unable to apply it for dynamic URL's. We have URL's which are formed on the fly from the WLP Content Repository
Is there some kind of servlet / filter provided within WLP. I read somewhere about an URLTransformationServlet. But there was no documentation on its usage. Can some one share a sample code snippet with me. That would be really really helpful, as we are having a slight time crunch here.
Any kind of help on this will be deeply appreciated. Thanks

our development environment we are getting exception Unable to render /framework/skeletons/bharti_skeleton/singlelevelmenu.jsp .
I have also checked feasibility for the URL navigation changes provided and will not work for left menu
and footer URL because while rendering these URL we are not using single level menu jsp or multilevel menu jsp.
Please check with these comments and update ASAP.

WLProxy configuration falls under the weblogic server product hence you will have to raise an SR with that product to get any suggestions.
Before that I would suggest you play around with the parameter I have suggested and see how it is impacting the url and then if there is any specific area you are stuck on check with the WLS team.
Like I mentioned earlier, I do not know if this will completely meet your business requirement, but something you can look into.

URLCompression servlet is the only option that weblogic portal provides out of the box to compress the URL of WLP. I understand this does not suite your requirement.
The other option I can think of that can possibly help you achieve this is to configure any weblogic proxy plugin that you might be making use of, see the document

Error: Navigate back to the same iView with Portal Absolute Navigation?
Hi, SDN Fellows.
When I tried to do a portal absolute navigation from and to the same iView, the iView before an infinite loop that keep navigating by itself (the iView keep refreshing by itself non-stop).
Here is the code that I used:
My current URL, said: ROLES://portal_content/RoleA/WorksetA/PageA,
then I called this method to navigate to itself:
WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute("ROLES://portal_content/RoleA/WorksetA/PageA"

To make sure I have the right method, I changed the URL Target to, said: ROLES://portal_content/RoleA/WorksetA/PageB, then the navigation become fine and did navigate to PageB.
Do any of you know what can be the problem?
My optimal goal is to refresh the whole Web Dynpro application, by navigate to itself again. I used to implement this by using WDP Exit Plug and URL Navigation, but this does not work in the portal environment. So, I am thinking to use the portal navigation to do the same thing.
Second question, do you have any other alternative way to refresh the whole Web Dynpro application without using Exit Plug?

hello All,
I have a complex requirement. Here is the scenario.
Report contains Account type-A and Account Type_B along with other measure columns
I need to pass the Account type B value to another report. But the problem here is I need to just display Account A and pass the corresponding Account B to the navigated report.
when i hide the Account B in the top report the value is not passed to the corresponding bottom report.
Using a case statement in the bottom report is not feasible because i ve multiple account b's for account A
So please advice. I am thinking of Go URL navigation will that work in this scenario??

What are the advantages/ disadvantages light detailed navigation have compared to normal detailed navigation. Is there any comparison chart available?
Using normal Detailed Navigation, I could not see the URL's in my browser ( its always http://server:port/irj/portal ). I want to use the short urls and show the url in browser. Its working fine ( can see the url's) when used light detailed navigation.
how to view the urls ( navigation url's) when used normal detailed navigation?????????? I know if we use light detailed navigation we can achieve this, but need it with normal / regular detailed navigation.

As per the comparison sheet, SAP says Short URL's and Quick Links are supported in Default Framework page. But when I use Default Framework page with Default detailed navigation, Its not showing up the URL's in browser, I couldn't even see the short URL, Quicklinks while navigation in portal.
My Actual requirement is giving the portal URL's links to the users to access and end users can get iview / page urls and save it for his / her future purpose.
By using the Quick Links, we can give the quicklink to the enduser that he can use ( like http://xxx:5000/irj/portal/QUICK LINK).
But when end user is navigating in portal using default famework and detail navigations, he couldnt see this quick links in browser.
If I put Light Detailed Navigation with Default framework, will it work?
because we have ESS and some BSP apps in our portal which uses EPCM and Work protect mode which is not supported by Light framework. But will it be supported by Default framework with light Detail navigation?

The main part:
The regular URL for launching the portal is http://portalserver/irj/portal . To implement URL navigation:
From the Portal Catalog, select the page as it appears within the roles hierarchy with which you want to launch the portal.
From the Quick Info pane below the Portal Catalog, copy the name of the page (PCD URL value) and save it in a text editor, replacing the string PCD: with ROLES:// .
Open your browser and add the following string to the default portal URL:?NavigationTarget =<value saved in text editor >
Save the new URL, which you can then use to launch your portal.

Rajesh ALexYou are complexing with 2 problem with 2 options.
1. Blocking url on the external window
2. Closing the previous window.
1. parameter model is indeed obsolete, so only has location parameter would help you to block the URL and it will not work for the requirement 2.
2. When you use exit plug and navigate to new URL, your window would close but new window would not open with address bar blocked.
No solution is fitting for your both requirements.
Probably you have seen this example application WDR_TEST_EXIT_WITH_CLOSE
See if it fits in your case. -

If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
System Preferences > General
Have a look at your settings in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

Open only page/iView in new window
Hi,
How can I publish a porta page (or iView) in a way that I can open the page/iView without the role menu? Or what kind of URL should I use to call the page (or iView).
In other words I want to achieve the same functionality which I get when I test the page or iView with the preview button in the portal content directory.
I assume that I still need to assign this page (or iView) to a role and then assign this role to the user (in order to get this working), but I don't want certain types of users to see the role menu. They just need to open the needed application from our Intranet.
I thought I could achieve this by using "URL navigation" but it still shows the role context menu.

You say you have already checked with NavigationTarget option? What kind of iVIew it is? Why not pick the url link from the preview page itself? That will not show role based menu. The url u picked can be added as link to ur intranet page. You have to decide on authentication though. If you want user to click the link and enter portal username and password to see the iView, then u can keep default settings. Else you can make the iView as anonymous iView by setting it in iView properties.

BSP File Download - .TIF problems

I haven't been able to fix this problem,
please see my post for further information. I am using SAP.help coding to display files in BSPs (6.20, "BSP with flow logic" pages used). See the coding below.
Somehow .tif files can not be displayed. Every other mime type works fine.

In a quite complex file upload and download scenario which works fine we use the following coding to display files received from the backend in our page.
OnInitialization: receives file backend data such as filesize, content(xstring) and mimetype.
This works all fine. Mimetype is delivered correctly.
OnInputProcessing:
This has been taken from the help.sap.com documentation -

RESULT:
the file is displayed fine. When trying to save the displayed file locally on the hard disc, the mimetype is not available. The system (Windows XP) provides only .bmp as file type. Also the context menu entry "Properties" of the displayed file shows NOT AVAILABLE as mimetype.
Is this a common problem? How can I achieve to have the mimetype information available for a save?

I am getting an error, when I try to download the document from the bsp-page.
I have uploaded the document to the server-cache as mentioned above. If I test it on the standalone machine, everything works fine. But when I have to connect to the BSP-Application through an EP I am getting the error:
