Url sorting in the report

I've a table which contains two columns. The first column is a url and second column is report name corresponding to the url. I generate a htmldb sql report, with these two columns, first column is url and second column is the report name. Since the url name would be long and cryptic, I want to use the report name as display name for the first column also, but the underlying link is still url, which the user can click to generate report. Now, the problem comes when I try to sort on fisrt colunm, which is url and that does not make sense. Is there a way I can click the first column header for sorting, but the sorting should actually happen on second column, which is report name?. Then I can hide the second column and mimic the sorting as it's happening on the url display name. Any ideas are appreciated.
thanks

Jonathan,
All the regions are based on the same SQL query:
SELECT display_name, url
FROM url_table
For the first region (URL Hidden) in the Report Attributes page, I de-selected the 'Show' option for the url column and selected 'Sort' for the display_name column. Then I added a link to the display_name column such that the 'Link Text' was #DISPLAY_NAME#, the 'Target' was URL and the 'URL' was #URL#
The second region (URL showing) was a copy of the first but without de-selecting the 'Show' option and the third region (URL hyperlinked) was a copy of the second region with the link on the url column instead of the display_name column ('Link Text' = #URL#).
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers,
Bryan.

  • Sorting in dataset vs sorting in the report

Are the some guidelines on when to use sorting in dataset vs sorting in the report?

    Hi JoeSchmoe115,
In Reporting Services, we can add ORDER BY clause to presort data that is retrieved for a report in the dataset queries. Or we can sorting groups or sorting by aggregate values in the report. When we add ORDER BY clause to sort the data in the order we want
it sorted in the report. Presorted data improves report processing time because of the way it is stored in memory. And there are many report processing tasks do not require sorting data before processing it. For example, SUM is not order-dependent and Data
within group instances is not automatically sorted.
So sorting groups or sorting by aggregate values is much simpler in the report than in the query and is frequently more efficient also. If we do not need sorted data in the report, do not set sort expressions on the dataset. For more details, please see:
    Troubleshooting Reports: Report Performance
    Hope this helps.

  • Sorting makes the report slow

    Hi,
I need to sort the SQL (APEX_ITEM) report. I created a hidden item and used the hidden item to sort the report. Its working fine but making the report very slow.
If I remove the sorting, then the report runs fast.
Please let me know what should do to make it faster.
    Thanks.

  • To visualize the report created using Discoverer Plus in Web

    Hi,
I had created the report usingOracleBI Discoverer Plus Version 10.1.2.45.46c & able to visualize the report in OracleBI Discoverer Viewer Version 10.1.2.45.46c.
URL fo accessing the report is as:
    http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
If i try to connect to from another machine (machine2) as
    http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
i'm unable to connect & i get the error page can not be displayed.
Is it necessary to have the URL only with domain name as
    http://machinename.domainname:portno/discoverer/viewer
I had already installed OWB, Oracle BI etc. If i had to create a domain then i have install all these & need to work from scratch.
Is there any way to access the report across the internet or web.
Plz do provide a solution for this issue.
    Thx in Advance

  • Restricting Null Values in the report

    Hi All,
I have a aggregated feild displayed in the bottom of the report and sorted on the report on that field to show me top results.
When I try to run the report, Null values are coming first in the report (Displayed as NaN).
I want to restrict these null values from the report.
    Please guide me on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Imtiaz.

Okay. If you are using sum, you could use the following: <?sum(Petrofac-ECRevenue[.!=''])?>
ensure that the path to the element is correct. Are you using a syntax like <?sum(current-group()/Petrofac-ECRevenue)?>
Send me an email to [email protected] with your xml data and RTF if you can't make it work.

  • Unable to test the report through 9IDS.

Steps done By me till now:
    1. Started OC4J Instance.----Successfully Started.
    2. To test, I typed the following URL in the browser and it shows the default report page.
URL is : http://localhost:8888/reports ----this also ok.
(Also checked ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oracle9iDS/config/default-web-site.xml)--This is ok like in that I check for <web-site-host="myMachineName", port=8888 and DisplayName="..".
N.B: I don't have the file name http-web-site.xml but default-web-site.xml (Already checked after changing the name of default-web-site.xml to http-web-site.xml but nothing happens).
    3. Then I placed my reports under the following directory:
    C:/ORACLE_HOME/reports/j2ee/reports_ids/web/MyReportName.RDF
    4. I typed the following URL to invoke the report:
    http://localhost:8888/rwservlet?report=MyReportName.RDF&UserId=<UserName>/<Password>@<DatabaseName>&Orientation=Landscape&Destype=Cache&DesFormat=HTMLCSS
It Gives me the following errors:
Error:110 :Unable to open File "MyReportName.RDF"
Error:1070 :Error while opening or saving a document.
Error:0110 :Unable to open File "MyReportName.RDF"
Can any suggest me some solution.

    Hi,
That error generally means that it can't find your report, although you will also get that problem if you've ftp'd the .rdf file in ascii mode rather than binary and then tried to run it. Try http://localhost:8888/rwservlet/showenv. That should show you the environment variables the server is running with. You can check the REPORTS_PATH env var to see if it's pointing at the directory that you put your .rdf in.
    Hope that helps,
    Toby

  • How create  dynamic URL for every row  shown in the report?

    Hi,
Iam new to this Application. I created one interactive report to find the number of bugs logged for every product and its sub component for past one year. The report will look like below structure in the application.
    Product Subcomponent Total
    P1 S1 10
    P2 S2 4
    P2 S21 15
Now i want to pick the value of Prouct and sub component for every row dynamiaclly and want to generate the URL with the conditions and make it as hyperlink for the Total Column.
Iam able to make hyperlink for the Total column using the edit options for the total attribute, but it is opening the same page for all the rows in the total column. I want to generate dynamic URL by picking the value prodcut and sub componenet dynamically from the report for every row and want to make it as hayperlink for every row individually.
Please tell me how to do this?
Please revert back if you are not clear. Appericiate for your quick help.

    Hello <unknown user>,
So you already set the Column Link attributes for your Total column. Should all links go to the same page, but with different parameters (ProductID, SubcompID)? Or to another page? And how can you determine that page?
Assuming you'll go to a sort of detail page or form:
Target = [Page in this app]
    Page = <your target page no>
    Item1 = <ProductID field in target page>
    Value = #PRODUCTID#
    Item2 = <SubcompID field in target page>
    Value = #SUNCOMPID#
(you can use the ' flashlight' for getting the correct values)

I'm unable to open the report in the same window by using JAVA viewer for Crystal Reports in info view. Please help me!!!
Envirorment Details: Crystal Reports 2008 SP3, BOE XI R3 SP3

I have tested that myself and It seems that HTML interpretation does not work with the Java viewer.
I have also tried using a hyperlink containing javascript
    eg.
    javascript:window.location.href='http://www.sap.com'
but the java viewer seems always to launch a new window before processing the command.
I would recommend to open a case by SAP support ( httP://service.sap.com/support )

  • How to display the sort value in the selection screen in the report title

    Dear All,
How to display the sort value in the selection screen in the report title? I have selected a value in the selection screen for sorting , but i need that values by which i have sorted with in the report title. Can you please throw some light on this!!
    Good day,
    Thanks and regards
    Arun S

    Hi Arun,
    Try this.
    1, Set one dynamic parameter,
2, Drag and drop that parameter into  your report title.
3, Pass the value(sort value) dynamically from your application,
    4, Cheers..
Other wise Try with Dataset, create a dataset and fill thev alue into that.. Then  set the data source from CR designer. and darg and drop that data column into the report.
    Hope this will work,
    Regards,
    Salah

  • Passing rendering format and report parameters in the URL to call a report - SSRS 2012

    Hi,
I've a SSRS 2012 with the integer and multivalue Creation_Years parameter that I need to call directly to export data in the Excel format.
I've tried to use this URL:
http://reportserv/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fInsurance%2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014 but the parameter is required in an interactive manner.
I've tried to set the hidden property for the parameter, I've tried to invert the position of the "rs:Format=excel" string with the "Creation_Years=2014", but the error message doesn't change. Also if I specify the 2015 year, the parameter
isn't overwritten with the 2015 value.
Any helps to me, please? Thanks

Ok, thanks, I note that you have added "rs:Command=Render": looking to the official documentation this string seems optional.
Your url functions but the parameter cannot be a multivalue one. Do you confirm this?
    Thanks
If you want to sent value for multi valued parameter through URL you need to repeat it
    ie like this
    http://reportserv/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fInsurance2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014&Creation_Years=2015&Creation_Years=2016...
    also see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155391.aspx
If parameter value itself has characetrs like & in it you need to escape them first using javascript

  • Sorting the report by clicking the column header

    Hello,
Currently working on a requirement where i need to sort the report by clicking the column header. Can anyone please help me on this.
Suppose i have 3 colums deptno, dname, sal fields in my report. if i click deptno column header,  report has to sort by deptno.Like that i need for other columns also.
    Any help is really appreciated
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hello,
You can sort the fields using method suggested by Cauvery. However if you would like to have Ascending/ Descending sort order control at column header, then would require to implement few additional steps.
First do the sorting of field using the way suggested by Cauvery. Once sorting is done, right  click on the column name and  select the option ' Bind Sort Control'. You will see the sorted field in the window. select the field and click ok.
Now you would get 2 arrows on column. If you click upper arrow, fields would be sorted in Ascending Order and if you click on down arrow, it would  be in Descending order.
