Urxvt tabs switching glitch

Once in a while when switching urxvt tabs (Shift + cursor arrow) they glitch and I can switch only between some tabs e.g. 4, 5 and 6. When I'm on tab 6 and want to go right, I get to tab 4 instead of tab 7.
Visualization. I'm going right all the time 1->2->3 etc. (but going left doesn't help). 'X' marks the tab I'm currently on:

It's an intermittent issue and not a huge deal. 'Ctrl + cursor arrow' allows me to break out of this vicious circle of tabs.

It seems only some websites actually switch to the new tab. Also, sometimes, this feature will stop working all together; requiring me to toggle the Firefox UI setting and/or restart firefox.

I was having the same problem and was looking for solutions when I came across this posting. Disabling GoodSearch solved the problem for me. Hopefully GoodSearch will update soon and resolve the issue permanently so I can use it again.

All browser chrome (tab switcher, awesomebar, toolbars) sometimes turn invisible when window is inactive

All the browser chrome including the tab switcher, awesomebar, firefox menu, and toolbars, but not the standard minimize/unmaximize/close buttons, will sometimes turn invisible while the window is inactive.
Clicking back into the window restores them. I have a dual monitor setup, and firefox is maximized on one monitor while I'm working on other applications in the other.
This is an intermittent problem, and has been happening for about a week now, starting from a fresh install of Firefox with a clean profile.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

How can I disable Control+PageUp/Control+PageDown Tab switch?

How can I disable Control+PageUp/Control+PageDown Tab switch? I have found various addons to provide additional key combinations for this action, but no option to disable that (these key combinations are mapped on my X server to serve as Home/Pos1 and End, and I would like to have that functionality within firefox as well).

Hi Guigs2, I already tried that (and a whole bunch of other key costumization/mapping plugins), and it does not help. It helps to add other shotcuts for the tab switching, but does not give an option to eliminate the existing key combination. Thank you anyways.

Disable cursor when tab-switching

Hi all,
Is there a possibility to disable cursor selection when changing apps with tab-switching, while the command key is pressed? When using a tablet it's extremely annoying since you have to lift the pen away every time. I'd like the list of app icons to ignore any movement of the cursor above it.

You can remove the checkmark on "Open Tabs" in the location bar settings.

Note that you can hold down the Alt or Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to tab" and see the URL of all entries instead.
* Alt + Enter opens the highlighted URL in a new tab.
* Shift + Enter opens the highlighted URL in the current tab.
* Cursor Right copies the highlighted URL to the location bar in case you want to edit it.

Firefox 4 tab-switching hot keys not registering?

When I watch videos online via YouTube or other streaming or flash media, the tab switching keyboard shortcuts (Cmd+2, Cmd+3, etc.) will not switch to the desired tab. I have to click on some blank space on the side of the website in order for it to register. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't been able to find centralized forums at Mozilla, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Their support system seems very decentralized - you post a problem and it sits out in cyberspace until someone stumbles upon it. I've heard of some people trying to use NoScript to block flash (flash is the culprit in a lot of websites that sap battery life surreptitiously but I haven't tried it personally. My issue with trying NoScript is that it is just another "workaround" and not a solution. NoScript will undoubtedly have unintended side effects/consequences where websites just don't display right or "work properly" and I'll probably end up having to toggle it on and off -- no different than fiddling around with gfxCardStatus to turn the discrete dGPU on and off.
Ditto to disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox 4 options (which actually doesn't fix the problem of the dGPU being wrongly activated, and ends up causing more problems than it solves).

LXTerminal, Alt-# tab switching and escape sequences

Hello,
when using lxterminal i am able to switch between tabs using Alt+# (Alt-1 = first tab, Alt+2 = second tab, etc) like in most other tabbed programs. While switching itself works the keypress seems to be handed to the terminal as an escape sequence. In case of bash this activates the argument counter(?), so after switching the terminal i can not directly type but have to remove whatever the escape sequence changed.
There is a bug over on launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1080116), but i could not find a patch over there. Also according to the lxde-forums (http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=31676) this would be a "distribution problem" and affect other terminal emulators as well, however also no explanation where the problem could originate.
I tested gnome-terminal and PantheonTerminal on the same machine - both do not pass escape sequences to the shell.
Has anyone here seen this behaviour before or got an idea where to start?

Crashes on Tab Switch, Tab Close, or Quit

I've been working with STP for a few months at my school and I really like it, but recently I'm having a real pain of a problem with some of my STMP files.
Whenever I open multiple tabs, whether double-clicking on an audio file in the multitrack editor or just opening a new tab, if I try to close the new tab or switch to another tab or even if I try to quit the program, I get the beachball of death. It doesn't matter what I do in the new tab...in fact, even if I do nothing at all to it, just open then try to close, it crashes. I have to force quit every time and it's very frustrating.
I've tried deleting (app, prefs, any file labeled with STP in its name) and reinstalling, repairing disk permissions, but nothing works. Again, this doesn't happen with all my STMP files, but a lot of them have this problem. Can anyone offer some advice on this?

Just to check, are you definitely running the Universal Binary version of Soundtrack Pro? Also, how much memory do you have?
Where is the app crashing? Why don't you post the crashlog on this forum--maybe someone on the forum will have an idea what's going on.
What audio device are you using? Do you get the same results if you just use the built-in audio interface?

Dock not working; command-tab switch between programs not working

The Dock does not work. I have restarted (although the computer will not restart under "Restart", getting stuck at the last part, and needs to be restarted manually). When I change Dock preferences it reverts back to default settings. If I am lucky, the dock will appear and then disappear (poof) without having functioned.
The command tab function for switching between programs stopped working also.
The individual programs work, but I have to go to recent items to switch programs.
Further, I have two Previews open (with different documents in each) even though I have only one Preview program.
A whole lot of bizarre things that may be connected? I would appreciate any help.

You could try removing the .plist file again, but this time, try also removing the com.apple.dock.db file. Then log out and log in again.

Can I change the order of applications in the command-tab switcher?

I recently replaced my old computer running 10.5 with one running 10.8. It's a small thing, but irritating: in 10.5, when I hid an application, it would be bumped to the back of the switcher list, but in 10.8, the list is purely chronological in order. For example, if I hide Chrome now, a single command-tab would bring me back to it, rather than to the most recent non-hidden application, which is what I'd prefer. Again, I realize it's a small thing, so if there's nothing I can do about it, oh well, but I figured I would check.

Sorry there is no way to accomplish this.
The heads-up screen has no modifiable behavior other than it basic default for quick switching between apps.

"open link in new tab -switch to it immediately" cannot be disabled

When I left click a link, FF 14.01 will switch to the new tab immediately. When I right click and say "open link in new tab", FF won't switch immediately. I have done all the obvious things in tools/options,and have also reset FF to its default state and disabled all add-ons and extensions. Before I do a complete uninstall/reinstall to see if that works, any other ideas?
Is there an entry in the windows 7 registry that would force FF to always switch to the new tab when a link is left clicked? I ask this because I suspect the problem might be malware related. The system is completed clean now, so that is not the problem.

Do you mean Ctrl+left click or just plain left click? I think a plain left click always navigates immediately whether the page opens in the same tab, new window, or new tab. What behavior did you have before, if it was different?

Cs4 tab switching annoyance

Hi, does anyone know how to stop CS4 from using the ctrl key
to switch ALL tabs between views instead of just the current one?
The problem is that whenever I try to switch from code view to
design view using the shortcut ctrl+` dreamweaver assumes that I
want to switch ALL tabs and jumps to the last tab on the tab bar
(which is an annoying behaviour in of its self)
Is there any way to use a keyboard shortcut to only switch
the current view or at least stop dreamweaver from jumping around
when switching all views? Is this a bug?

Command-Tab switcher missing apps

Many, many times every day when I do a Command-Tab to invoke the app switcher, running apps are missing from the list of icons. Usually it's the one I last was in, and want to get to.
This really cramps my productivity. Happens to anyone else? Any fix?
Also, I thought the app icons in the switcher were supposed to be in decending order of last use. At least that seems to be the normal pattern. But very often recent apps appear in the middle or the end of the list.
This has occurred on several Macs, from 10.4.3 to 10.4.5. Is the app switcher just not working right?

I have noticed a pattern to the missing icons bug when doing a Command-Tab to bring up the Application Switcher (usually the missing icon annoyingly is the previous app one was in, precisely the app to which one wants to go):
If one does a Command-Tab twice in succession, the second time the missing icon returns.
