Now we have a fresh installation of Portal 7.3 and the back end is same(Currently not connected), and now we want to move the Portal 7.01 content to Portal 7.3.
Our Basis team had run the Maintainance Optimizer tool in solman and they determind that the Business packages i am using currently for 7.01 is compatible with 7.3 .
My question are
1. Can i use the same business packages that currently i am using for 7.01 to 7.3?
2. what happens if i install the latest packages SAP ESS 633 and MSS 630 and what are the corresponding packages for the front end
3. if i use Ehp 5 business packages, can i use both WD Java abd WD ABAP functionalities.
4. in future if we want the WD ABAP functionality for ESS applications , what happens to the custom WD java applications, Do i need to build from scratch in WD ABAP for the custom apps
5. is it possible to move the configurations of 7.01 to 7.3
please clarify my doubts
Thanks & Regards

Usage of external LDAP server with Portal
Hi All,
We are in a situation to use external LDAP server with WLP 8.1. These are the
constraints we have to deal with:
1. Only read is allowed from this LDAP server.
2. This would be used for authentication purpose
If thats the case, how can we use Visitor Entitlements/Delegated Admin and Group
creation using Portal Admin tool since this will write to the configured LDAP
server.
Can somebody answer my question:
1. Can we use external LDAP server - just for authetication (I know this is possible
by using JAAS LoginModule, but I just want to get confirmed on this ) and
2. Use default and embedded LDAP server for all others like Group/Visitor Entitlements/DAs.
Any relevant pointers are also welcome.
TIA,
Prashanth Bhat. Thanks for th ereply. Some of your answers are not clear. Can you pls eloborate
on this?? Pls see my comments below.

You can add the external LDAP server just for authentication, but in
versions through
8.1 SP2 WLP will want to verify the user exists (via the UserReaderMBean)
during
the login process (this check has been removed in SP3). A work around
is to
duplicate
the user in a provider that does impl UserReaderMBean.
Prashanth : You mean to say we have to duplicate the User in embedded LDAP server
also??

Yes, the default/embedded LDAP can still be used for DA/visitor
entitlements. In the current
release, the Portal Admin Tools can only be configured to use a single
authentication provider
while forming entitlements. In SP3, all configured providers are
listed/usable by the tools.Prashanth : How can we configure Portal Admin tool to use authentication provider
for entitlements??

I am looking to monetize current API by charging customers for usage. The Azure API Management portal doesn't offer billing and payments functionality so I am wondering how others are charging for API usage. Any recommendations on how to implement pricing
rules, invoicing, credit card processing for API usage within the Microsoft Azure realm is appreciated. Thanks.Thank you for your quick reply, Miao. I was looking for a more managed way of doing this w/o much development effort, such as how this API management portal does:
"Define and setup pricing rules to access your API resources, Generate invoices every month and accessible via API, Handle multiple types of credit card for payments"
http://www.3scale.net/api-management/monetize
Do you think Azure API Management portal will offer these kind of monetize features?

Supplier Registration URL Problem
Hi Experts,
I have a problem with supplier registration URL. I'm implementing supplier registration with SUS(SUS is running in different cilent with SRM). I've implemented all steps.System succesfully creates generic user in sus system for supplier registration and sends e-mail notification to supplier about registration link, user and password. But when supplier enters "http://xxx.xxx.com:50700/useradmin/selfReg?regId=" url , system gives error message " You are not authorized to perform this step. Please contact your system admin". I don't know whether it's the right url or not. I've assigned lots of authorization to this generated user but system gives same error. Also there is a link "http://xxx.xxx.com:50700/useradmin/selfreg_applyuser.jsp?regId= ". When supplier enters this link, system gives error message " 403 Forbidden. You are not authorized to view the requested resource.Details: No details available" Which link should supplier use to create his/her own user in sus system and with which authorization?. Can you please help on this issue?
Regards,
FıratHello Alex,
I'm working with Fırat in this project. At this point,I think that there is a misunderstanding about this issue. In our case, relevant service user has the appropriate rights and also has roles that you suggested.
Our problem is in the user applying part of this integration. We have two SRM systems, not different clients as Fırat said, usage types are SRM and SUS Portal. Two systems have also JAVA instance connected to ABAP instance.ABAP links are working fine for user self registration and preseleciton in SRM ABAP system but SUS Portal's user admin link works and pops up a login screen (mentioned upload protected area)
I found that this is a standard system behaviour of J2EE engine's PUT implementation.SAP says that you can disable this feature but I couldn't disable as mentioned the link below.
Default Implementation of HTTP PUT Method

Can you please analyze the problem in this context ?
Thanks for your help in advance.

SAP R/3 NetWeaver Consultant -
Hi Gurus,
Actually i am an abap consultant but i want to know what is EP and information broadcasting and how are these related to abap. If that so..
Can someone suggest me how to start learning...any material r usefull links.EP Purpose
The EP usage type contains the following components:
Portal: Serves as the front end of SAP NetWeaver, offering a single point of access to SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications, information repositories, databases and services in and outside the enterpriseall integrated into a single user experience.
Knowledge Management: Provides role-based access to unstructured information from various data sources. The unstructured information can be in many forms, such as text documents, presentations and HTML files, and can be viewed via iViews in the portal.
Knowledge Management makes use of the standalone engine TREX to perform search and classification operations.
Collaboration: Provides services that help communication and cooperation among colleagues and others in the enterprise. Services include virtual rooms, groupware integration, asynchronous and real-time collaboration tools.
Guided Procedures: Provides a framework for modeling and managing processes that involve access to multiple backend systems. It enables runtime collaboration and execution of ad-hoc items, as well as invocation of different types of applications and services within a process. The framework implements role-based access to tools, resources and process steps.

Creating iView for BI queries and system
Dear All
I need your help in dealing with three challenges that i'm currently facing while trying to integrate BW into Portal.
<b>
Challenge 1:</b>
I am trying to create an iView for BI queries but it is giving the following exception
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
iView : N/A
Component Name : N/A
Could not find portal application com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.
Exception id: 04:32_26/06/07_0010_18800950
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Can anyone help me in understanding what is it and how to resolve it?
Not able to infer anything from logfile.
System i created for connecting BW is OK for the connector test but fails for ITS and Web AS.
<b>Challenge 2:</b>
Is it necessary to for a system to pass all the tests (Web AS, ITS and Connector)?
Systems that i create almost never pass Web As and ITS test
SAP Web AS Connection
Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
1. Check the validity of the system ID in the system object
2. Check whether the system can be retrieved
3. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
4. Validate the following parameters: WAS protocol; WAS host name
5. Check HTTP/S connectivity to the defined backend application
Results
1. The system ID is valid
2. Retrieval of the system was successful
3. The system object represents an SAP system
4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (eimreymdd0.eimskip.net:8001)
5. HTTP/S connection failed
ITS Connection
Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
1. Check the validity of the system ID in the system object
2. Check whether the system can be retrieved
3. Check whether the system object has a valid system alias
4. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
5. Validate the following parameters: ITS protocol; ITS host name
6. Check the validity of any user mapping in the system object
7. Check HTTP/S connectivity to the defined backend application
Results
1. The system ID is valid
2. Retrieval of the system was successful
3. Retrieval of the default alias was successful
4. The system object represents an SAP system
5. Some of the following parameters are invalid: ITS Protocol () ITS Host Name ()
<b>Challenge 3:</b>
Out of the two versions (SAP BW 2.x/3.x and SAP NetWeaver BI)available in the portal to create Bex iView which one do we have to use?
I'm working on EP 7 and BW 7.Hi,
If you are using BI 7 and EP 7, then you have to run either the post installation template from http://<host>:<port>/nwa ( Refer to Note 895736 - Configuration template for BI-JAVA usage type ) or Run program RSPOR_SETUP in BI.
I would suggest you to run BI configuration template from nwa alias.
To execute basic steps for automatically configuring the BI Java usage type for integration to the portal, proceed as follows:
1. Call the template installer by choosing quick link /nwa: <PORTAL_PROTOCOL>://<PORTAL_SERVER>:<PORTAL_PORT>/nwa
2. Under scenario, select BI Java.
3. Choose the BIPostInstallProcess template. Under Template, the individual steps that are executed by this template are also provided.
4. Choose Execute Template.
5. Adjust the default values under Data Entry. Note the following with respect to the input values:
ABAP:
ABAP_ADMIN and ABAP_PASSWORD are used for the RFC connection during installation
BACKEND_SYSTEM, BACKEND_SYSNUMBER, and BACKEND_CLIENT specify the BI system (AS ABAP)
BACKEND_HTTP_PORT can be determined using function module RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET (or using the report)
BACKEND_SID is the system ID for the BI system
JAVA:
J2EE HOST and J2EE SID specify the J2EE Engine (AS Java)
J2EE HTTP PORT is the HTTP port of the J2EE Engine and has the numbering convention 5<J2EE_SYSNUMBER>00 (for example, 51000 for the system number 10)
P4PORT is the TCP/IP port of the Visual Administrator and can be calculated using <J2EE_HTTP_PORT>+4 (for example, 51004)
6. Choose Install.
Note:
You should only perform template-based configuration if the system has not been configured.
Cheers!!

Logging InfoView viewing of agnostic documents
We use InfoView to catalog all types of reports, identified particularly as URLs but also potentially Microsoft Office documents (e.g., Excel documents). These are not BusinessObjects solutions (Crystal or Webi, for instance) and so apparently viewing activity is not logged with the BOBJ auditor system. However, we really need to know how often these "agnostic" documents are being accessed, when and by whom.
So, two questions: is there a way to extend the Auditor to track these events; and failing that, is there a web usage approach (since InfoView is a portal) that anyone has leveraged to log such activities? Thanks for the response, Very relevant and clarifying, but still we need a solution. Since Auditor is off the list of possibilities, then what else can be done, as we do need to track usage.
As mentioned above, is there anyone who has figured out how to audit the activity from a generic web usage point of view, e.g., gathering data and using Web Trends, for instance.
Another avenue might be possible for our case. We actually display that part of InfoView we are interested in logging through the SAP Enterprise Portal InfoView iview, which I believe creates a virtual KM entry in the Portal mapping to each document. So...is there a possibility of tracking usage from the Enterprise Portal vantage point?
So, if anyone has experience in either of these directions, or some other, we'd appreciate very much hearing about it.

Hi All,
We are using EP6 SPS15.
I am trying to configure the lotus notes repository with the help of steps given in help.sap.com. After configuration of the same the repository prefix showing under the root directory but when i am trying to click on it its giving me the following error.
<b>System missing in landscape configuration for a Lotus Notes repository</b> You tried to access a Lotus Notes repository, but the system of the Lotus Notes repository is missing in the system landscape configuration. Contact your system administrator.
The strange thing is that i have done the same config successfully on EP6 SPS14. But no luck in SPS15.
What would be the problem?

Lotus Notes Integration With SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0
(Process description)
These documents describe the entire process of integrating lotus domino server with enterprise portal server to leverage the usage of lotus notes within the portal framework.
Step1: Create a System
o Choose System AdministrationSystem configurationSystem LandscapePortal ContentContent Provided by SAP. Right click on collaboration and then choose New From ParSystem.
o Select com.sap.netweaver.col.app.gw and choose next.
o Select a server (lotus notes) and then choose next.
o Enter the System Name and ID (for ex lotus) and choose next and then finish.
o Enter System Aliases by choosing system Alias from the display drown list.
o Enter the system Alias in the alias field and choose add and then save.
Step II: Create E-Mail Transport
 The email transport defines the SMTP server and other configuration required for sending e-mails. To configure an e-mail transport choose
 System AdministrationSystem ConfigurationKnowledge ManagementCollaborationGroupWare TransportsMail Transport
 SMTP Sever: The address of the SMTPServer for sending e-mails
 Sent Messsages: You specify the folder on the server where the sent e-mail is to be store: -Sent on Lotus domino Server.
 System Alias name: Alias that was defined for the groupware server in system configuration.
Step III: Check E-Mailing Service
This is a global service that is required for sending e-mails and which can be located by choosing System AdministrationSystem configurationKnowledge ManagementContent ManagementGlobal servicesMailing Service. This service needs to be active and an email transport must already have been created.
Lotus Domino Transports
The lotus domino server provides java libraries for the posting and retrieval of information servlets running on the domino server can make use of these java libraries to query the domino database for information. The Functionality is based on java servlets and runs on the lotus domino server. The java servlets need to be deployed on all connected lotus domino Servers. The transport consists of two parts
 Java transport that runs on the portal server (LDS-P) and is deployed automatically on installation
 Java servlet that runs on domino server (LDS-D) and needs to be installed on every lotus server in the landscape.
The Process flow is
1.The Java-transport makes an HTTP(s) call to the servlet on the domino server and user credentials are passed.
2.The servlet retrieves the data from the server.
3.The data is retrieved to the java transport on the portal.
Installation of LDS-D Components
To access the users database (.nsf) the LDS-D component must be installed on the same domino server as that on which the database in question is available. If users are distributed among multiple Domino Servers, install the component on each of the servers. Alternately you can set up one Domino server with replication that host all portal domino users.
1.Locate the LDS-d component shipped with lotus transport.
The components can be found in<irj>\root\WEB-INF\PORTAL\PORTALAPPS\com.sap.netweaver.coll.appgw.translotus-api.jar.
2.Copy the com.sap.netweaver.coll.appgw.translotus-api.jar file to the lotus servlet folder as defined in the Lotus server configuration. For examplec:\Lotus\domino\Data\Servlet.Create this servlet folder if it does not yet exist.
3 Using the Lotus administrator Client update the domino server document (Current server document) in the section Internet protocolsDomino Web EngineClass path with above jar file path for e.g. C:\Lotus\Domino\Data|domino\servlet\Coll.appl.gw.translotus-api.jar.
4.Restart the lotus dominos HTTP Tasks.
Configuration of Cache is very important
Hope this helps you -
What is CTS n CMS?
Hi,
CTS
The Change and Transport System (CTS) is a tool that helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP Systems and clients in your system landscape.
This documentation provides you with an overview of how to manage changes with the CTS and essential information on setting up your system and client landscape and deciding on a transport strategy. Read and follow this documentation when planning your development project.
For practical information on working with the Change and Transport System, see Change and Transport Organizer and Transport Management System.
What ever is developed in sap is assiged to a transport request, it is created by transaction SE09 and then it is released when the data needs to be transported in various other systems.
The Change and Transport System (CTS, SAP NetWeaver usage type AS ABAP) is enhanced with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 12 to be capable of transporting Non-ABAP object types, such as from the SAP NetWeaver usage types PI (Exchange Infrastructure), EP (Portal), etc. The enhanced CTS I will refer to as CTS+. Why use CTS? CTS vs CTS+
Hi,
I am new to the forum. Would like to ask on how transports were being moved before CTS was invented? And what are the benefits of using CTS compared to any old method of moving transports?
Also, what is difference of CTS and CTS+? Is it just the capability of moving non-ABAP objects?
Thanks in advance.CTS:

Exchange Integration with MSX-A on a Windows 2003 Server
Hi
We try to integrate Microsoft Exchange (Version 2003 SP1) into SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SR1. The MSX-A components are installed on the OWA System, a different Windows 2003 System with Outlook XP (SP3) on it.
The error displayed in the Calendar iView on the Portal:
"An internal error occurred while generating the XML from the MSX-A component"
From the "SAP EP Test Exchange Transport Setup" Tool an error occures on the "Data Retrieval" Test:
"An error occurred retrieving the data."
and in detail:
MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILED(80040111)
MS KBase http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181739/en-us didn't help. To resolution 3: Policy "Log on Locally" on a Windows 2003 doesn't exist anymore (?). "Deny Log on Locally" isn't given to relevant groups.
Thanks and best regards
Nicolajhi All
i am illustrating the process of integration the central notes to be referred and constraints .hope this definitely helps you please do not forget to give full points for this effort

<b>Process</b>
Microsoft outlook Integration With SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0
(Process description)
These documents describe the entire process of integrating Exchange server with enterprise portal server to leverage the usage of lotus notes within the portal framework.
Step1: Create a System
o Choose System AdministrationSystem configurationSystem LandscapePortal ContentContent Provided by SAP. Right click on collaboration and then choose New From ParSystem.
o Select com.sap.netweaver.col.app.gw and choose next.
o Select a server (Microsoft Exchange server) and then choose next.
o Enter the System Name and ID (for ex Exchange) and choose next and then finish.
o Enter System Aliases by choosing system Alias from the display drown list.
o Enter the system Alias in the alias field and choose add and then save.
Step II: Create E-Mail Transport
 The email transport defines the SMTP server and other configuration required for sending e-mails. To configure an e-mail transport choose
 System AdministrationSystem ConfigurationKnowledge ManagementCollaborationGroupWare TransportsMail Transport
 SMTP Sever: The address of the SMTPServer for sending e-mails
 Sent Messages: You specify the folder on the server where the sent e-mail is to be store: -Sent Items on Microsoft Exchange Server.
Microsoft Exchange Transports
The overall transport consists of two parts: MSX-J on the portal server and the MSX-A on the Exchange Server or a machine near to the Exchange Server.
MSX-J is the java part that runs on the portal server is deployed automatically on the portal server during installation, and implements the groupware API.It uses the Groupware APIs and repository development kit.
MSX-A is the active server page and sap exchange connector.dll running on a n iis server with Microsoft Collaboration data objects (CDO) and in the same domain as the exchange server or in a trusting domain .The ASP and DLL are Collectively CALLED MSX-A and is installed as part of the Outlook Installation. This needs to be installed on every IIS SERVER dedicated to the MS Exchange Server
The Process flow is
1.TheMSX_J transport makes an HTTP(s) call to the MSX_A running on the IIS.
2.Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) uses Basic Authentication to authenticate user based on NT user/password against the Microsoft Exchange Server.
3.CDO uses the authentication token and fetches the data.
4.MSX-A converts the data into XMl and returns it to MSX-J
Installation of MSXA Components
You have to carry out these steps for every IIS that accesses the exchange server or the Outlook WEB Access 5.5 SP Server in the system landescape:
1.Locate the MSX-A component shipped with Exchange transport.
The components can be found in<irj>\root\WEB-INF\PORTAL\PORTALAPPS\com.sap.netweaver.coll.appgw\WEB INF\external\Exchange.
2 Locate an IIS that is in the same domain as the Exchange Server or in a trusted domain.
3.Create a folder on the IIS for example,c:\SAPExchangeTransport.
4.Copy the MSX-A Components to the folder you just created.
5.Register the DLL by using command regsrvr32 in the command prompt for example c:\winnt\sysytem32\regsvr32.exe c:\SAPExchangeTransport\SapExchangeConnector.dll
6.Create a new Iis Website or if using Outlook Web Access 5.5 sp4 create a virtual directory
Since most of configuration errors arise in the setup and configuration of the MSX-A components a separate test application is shipped with the connectivity, which allows you to check that the setup is correct.
1.locate SAPPXchTest.exe which is shipped with the exchange transports. The components can be found at <irj>\root\portalapps\com.sap.netweaver.coll.appl.gw\external\exchange.
2 copy the executable file to the machine on which the MSX-A component has been deployed.
3.Test the CDO version by launching the executable file on the machine on which msx-a was deployed.Choose Test CDO-Version .You should receive a success message .if you recive an error message follow the instructions given
4Test data retrieval by launching the executable file on the machine on which MSX-A was deployed choose TestData Retrieval Fill in necessary fields you should receive a success message but if you receive an error message follow the instructions given
5.Choose Save Results
6.open the log file indicted by the message
<b>Notes</b>
0000801234 Additional attachment in room created appointments
0000788151 Post Installation Steps for Groupware after an upgrade
0000763062 Problem creating an appointment with attachment
0000738965 E-mail address is mandatory for Groupware Integration
0000736644 Mandatory Steps for MS Exchange Integration
0000736541 Support information for MS Exchange Integration
0000732911 Integrating Outlook Web Access in Enterprise Portal 6.0
0000712902 SSO to Outlook web access using user/password does not work
<b>Constraints</b>
Constraints of Microsoft Exchange Connectivity
 The Microsoft Exchange transport currently only support items with types appointment and meeting request .Other types such as discussion and not currently not supported.
 Deleting an instance of a recurring appointment affects only that particular instance
 Calendar items in personal folder are not supported. Users can only view and modify items located on the exchange server from the iviews
 Public folders on the exchange server are not supported
 Calendar items are delivered as such if sent to recipients within the intranet .If the recipients is in different domain than the sender ,the format in which the items are delivered depends on the server responsible for sending the item in question -
JPDK - Page/Page Group Properties????
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the JPDK, so forgive me if this is a dumb question: I've looked through all the documentation (I think) and samples, and cannot seem to find any API's that deal with retrieving or setting page properties (page description, display name, etc.) or page group properties. Do they exist? I know I can call the PL/SQL API's from Java...or go to the tables directly....but aren't very elegant solutions. This seems like such a basic need for portlet development....am I missing something??
Confused in California,
WayneHi Wayne,
You can change a page's page group's properties from portal itself.
When you edit a page (by clicking on the page's "Edit" link), you will see a Page "Properties" link. Here you can change the page name, style, access rights for this page etc. You can also change the Page Group's Properties from here itself.
As for an API, there is definitely an API which Portal uses to accomplish this, but this API is not exposed for public usage.
For more information on Portal's PL/SQL Public API's, click on this link:

Difference between CMS and CTS
Hi
can anybody give me a fifference between CMS and CTS .. i know both are used for transoporting the XI objects.. but what is the difference between each other... and when we prefer each one.. and what are the adavantages and Disadavatages of each..
Thanks
JainHi,
Using its new capabilities further simplifies system administration of an SAP system landscape.
