Usage of external LDAP server with Portal

Hi All,
We are in a situation to use external LDAP server with WLP 8.1. These are the
constraints we have to deal with:
1. Only read is allowed from this LDAP server.
2. This would be used for authentication purpose
If thats the case, how can we use Visitor Entitlements/Delegated Admin and Group
creation using Portal Admin tool since this will write to the configured LDAP
server.
Can somebody answer my question:
1. Can we use external LDAP server - just for authetication (I know this is possible
by using JAAS LoginModule, but I just want to get confirmed on this ) and
2. Use default and embedded LDAP server for all others like Group/Visitor Entitlements/DAs.
Any relevant pointers are also welcome.

I need to configure Weblogic Commerce Server to use Iplanet Directory Server directory
services. How do I do that?
I have a couple of questions related to this:
1) As Weblogic Commerce Server runs on top of Weblogic v6, does it mean that to
use an external LDAP server, I need to configure weblogic v6 to do that and not
Weblogic Commerce Server?
2) Whatever may be the case above, how do I do that?
3) config.xml (weblogic application server v6) contains information that needs
to be modified to point to an external JNDI source provider but what information
do I need to modify?

Try setting the com.netscape.ldap.trace property.

External LDAP + Roles in portal

Folks,
I use weblogic 8.1 portal.
Can we use an external LDAP for storing portal roles? If so, what is supported,
recommended, etc. Does BEA have a recommendation/document on how to support an
environment with multiple domains that share a common LDAP so that we don’t have
to keep them all sync.

Lara,
The WLS SSPI (plug-in provider architecture) allows you to add additional
role mappers, however the WLS out-of-the-box authorizer and role mapper are
still required for WLP. Also, in a WLS domain/cluster each managed server
has a copy of the LDAP which is automatically kept in sync by the admin
server.

Error in authentication with ldap server with certificate

Hi,
i have a problem in authentication with ldap server with certificate.
here i am using java API to authenticate.
Caused by: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path validation failed: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: timestamp check failed.
I issued the new certificate which is having the up to 5 years valid time.
is java will authenticate up to one year only?
Can any body help on this issue...

Hi Vinit,
if you want some Windows File Server integrated into Portal, please do not use a WebDAV Repository, but use the File System Repository instead. Therefore you need to configure the according Repository Manager. Please refer to this documentation:

Hello.
Is it possible to configure WebLogic to use external LDAP server, which in turn is "built in" in other WebLogic (at other physical machine)?
And if it is possible, can I use OracleInternetDirectoryAuthenticator provider for this?

You can try to create a Authenticator of type LDAPAuthenticator and accordingly provide the configurations.

Authentication problem by external ldap server for WLS 7.0

I have configured iPlanet directory Server to serve as authentication security
provider for WLS 7.0.While doing so I have created a Test security realm and made
it as default.I have also configured the other default settings for the remaining
security providers for the realm.
Now, while I start the WLS with the default username and password, boot-error
comes as given below. As a matter of fact I have also created groups with relevant
username and pwd in the ldap server as specified bu the Bea documentation.
I have tried to remove the problem since last 4 days but all in fiasco.
If anybody has any pointer to the problem - it will be a great help.

Thanks Vijay - it has worked by creating the Administrator group in LDAP but Weblogic
documentation also states the creation of any group in Ldap server with the boot
username and pwd and then adding the group in the admin role of WLS7.0 - but this
did not work.
If there is any info regarding the same - pl. do let me know

Using external LDAP server for WL JNDI lookups

I'm trying to find out if it is possible to re-direct JNDI calls to the WL
server to an external LDAP server. I know you can install an external LDAP
server for security purposes, but I would like to use an external LDAP
server to handle all JNDI lookups (like for JNDI EJB name location, etc.).
Is this possible?

You typically need to use our JNDI store. We strongly recommend this for
performance reasons..
You can use the JNDI To LDAP bridge which is available from the sun web
site.

Hi Shashak,
if you use the LDAP Server as UME User Store, the security policy from the LDAP server is enforced. This means that if the data source has defined its own security policy, there is no standard interface to pass on any error messages received from the data source to the UME user in the same level of detail and in the correct language. The user only receives a very generic error message. Therefore, you would need to adapt the Portal security policy accordingly. i have create KM Navigation Iview When i specify any folder that is available in KM it works fine but i can not see the folder of file server...

Integrate Sun ONE Messaging and Sun ONE Calendar server with Portal 6.0

We need to integrate (implement a Single Sign On solution) Sun ONE/iPlanet Messaging and Calendar servers with Portal 6.0. The Msg and Cal. servers do not use Portal Profile server as their DS and have a different DS.This directory server is the external DS for Portal. After users login to Portal, they should be able to access Msg and Cal. servers without login to them again.
1. How do we do this without writing a java code/servlet ?

I have re-installed WebLogic Portal 10.2 and now i m trying to configure MS SQL server.
When i use configuration wizard tool, i could successfully run database scripts and i could see table being created in database. But when wizard reaches its last screen and installation completes about 75%, wizard screen shows following error:

Settings and usage of external FTP Server in ECC 6.0

Dear all,
I work in ECC 6.0, and I want to configure and use an external FTP Server for upload, download and delete file from FTP Server.
My questions are:
1) Which are steps for configure an FTP connection?
2) How can I read, delete and send a flat file to the FTP Server? Can you send a sample code?
