I have a feeling that my computer g-5 usb ports our not reconizing my firewire from my panasonic dvx-100a is there a way to reset your ports or do I need to download a new driver for this camera to be reconized, it reconizes my external harddrives but not my camera.

They're not supposed to. They're 2 completely separate interfaces. So please confirm your meaning, as you can't plug a firewire cable into a USB port, or vice versa.

I have hp laptop dv9009us one day all the USB ports and webcam camera stopped working, I had windows XP and tried all solutions posted on online forums didn’t work, I upgraded to windows 7 and still not working, please note that the USB is detected in device manger and it says working properly but he webcam is not detected at all, also when I connect any device to USB it gives it power and I even can charge my cell phone but it doesn’t detect any device. Is there any genius out there that can help me?
Also after I installed windows 7 I went o system information----software environment--- system drivers, and I found all USB drivers stopped by the way this was the case in windows XP as well

USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine. I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. USB Ports and AGP Video Card on same IRQ

I've got a tough one. I have 6 USB ports. Call them 1,2,3,4,5,6. Ports 1 and 2 work fine with my new USB 2.0 80GB External Harddrive. This pair of ports 1 and 2 are direct into motherboard.
However system crashes when I plug USB 2.0 External Drive into ports 3,4,5,6. These are Dports with cables that plug into the MB. One of these Dports has the four error lights which are all green. Western Digital has cautioned against sharing this drive with other IRQs. Says that the video card and the WD harddrive require dedicated IRQs...but I have no control of how W XP assigns them.
Ports #3-6 work fine with mouse, scanner, and printer etc. However they fail when trying to use WD External Hardrive.
I also checked IRQ settings and IRQ 16 is used for a USB Port and for my MSI AGP video card. I believe this conflict is the cause of the problem.
So help..how do I fix this dilemma?
I have Windows XP and see no way to change IRQs.
BIOS does not even show IRQ as a choice..only 1-15. Also BIOS is latests version for my MSI 845G Max L MS-6580 mother Board. USB drivers are all Intel. Video Card Is MSI AGP MS-8878 G4Ti/MX 420 w TV out. Bios and Drivers are current.
How can I run the USB 2.0 External Harddrive in Ports 3-6?

I did load new Intel INF Drivers and AGP drivers yesterday.
No luck USB Ports 3-6 still fail with External Hard Drive.
I'm not clear on how to turn back on AICP or ACIP. BIOS?
Also not IRQs 16-23 are listed with active devices on the Device Manager
16 has a USB Controller at 24c2
16 also has AGP video card
17 has Audio '97
17 also has Fast Eternet.
18 has USB Controller at 24c7
19 has USB Controller at 24c4
23 has PCI to USB Interface.
Port 3-6 do work fine with mouse, dig cam, Scanner, printer. These ports only fail with External Harddrive plugged in. Ports 1and2 work fine with external HD??
So question is how do I check on the IRQ ports using AIPC or APIC...or whatever the name is...thanks folks.

USB ports no drivers after re-install of windows

Had to re-install windows because of some ransomware issues. Everything has gone well except for drivers for the left usb ports and sm bus controller. I have searched the HP website for the drivers but none can be found. The usb ports on the right side work fine but not the left. When looking in device manager they are missing drivers. I have tried about everything i can think of to resolve the issue with no success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

So I stuck a key into one of the USB ports and then a message came up and it crashed straight away and now it won't turn back on.(the message was to do with the USB port taking to much power when there wasn't anything besides the key) help?

Reset the SMC first. If this doesn't work, reset PRAM. Move down troubleshoot with links below. First, SMC reset for MBP models 2009 and later:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

Lost the keyboard backlight, use of my USB ports and camera shows as disconnected. How do I fix this?

Please help. I'm still a MAC rookie.
I unplugged my Pedometer from one of the USB ports on my Macbook Pro. Ever since then, I lost the backlight to my keyboard. I did some troubleshooting on these discussion boards and found a few with similar issues, but most of the discussions were old and the solutions were out of date. As one of them advised, I checked to see if my Isight Camera was still connected and it wasn't. I also tried plugging a few different things into both USB ports and neither of them worked either. So whatever caused this, it's affecting all 3 of these things. I don't know if my Pedometer is old/bad and it "short-circuited" the USB port and everything else along with it when I unplugged it or if something coincidentally went bad at the same time that I removed it.
I read some old answers from the discussion boards where they suggested a Command (R) system recovery reboot. But I also read that that really doesn't help on newer operating systems. I am on OS X. Here is my Hardware Overview:

I did recently purchase a backup drive and I THINK I previously backed everything up properly. But, I can't even plug that into the USB port now to see if I

What system version were you running before you updated to 10.9.4? Another 10.9.x or something earlier?
What version of Office? 2004, 2008, or 2011?
Were you aware that Office 2004 does not run on recent versions of the system?
When you say your USB ports do not work, on what are you determining that?
Were you aware that Mavericks does not display external disk volumes by default?

After downloading itunes, I hooked my iphone up to my computer and told it to restore. Got an error message, 1015, and it wouldn't restore my phone so now all I get on the screen is a pic of a usb port and an image of itunes. Anyone know what I can do??

Error 1015: This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple.
What this means is you have to delete your .ipsw file (it may be corrupted or old) and attempt to restore your iPhone again.
Where the .ipsw file is found:

Windows XP           - C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
