Use Active FTP for signature updates

Is it possible to use active ftp opposed to passive when upgrading IDS signatures? I am running 4210s with v.4.1. During signature updates for some reason the FTP connection uses a random ephemeral port instead of port 21. When I ftp manaually from the service account with the PASS command to turn off passive ftp, the file transfers fine. ACLs are blocking the connection because the port always changes and I don't want to open up the ephemeral port range.
Thanks,
Joel

As far as I know, you can only use the passive ftp for the sig updates.

  • Should I use dynamic SQL for simple updates?

    Please tell me, out of the two options given below, which option should i use to update columns in a table and why?
    what will be the performance difference between the two approaches?
    Please note: The options given below is just for an example
    procedure proc1(var1 varchar2)
    is
    begin
    update tab1 set col1 = var1;
    commit;
    end;
    procedure proc1(var1 varchar2)
    is
    sqlstr varchar2(1000);
    begin
    sqlstr := 'update tab1 set col1 = :v1';
    execute immediate sqlstr using var1;
    commit;
    end;
    Thanks

    Performance is not the issue (as long as you are using bind variables).
    But with dynamic SQL, you loose compile time checking; you do not know until runtime if the SQL is valid.
    You also loose the dependency between proc1 and tab1, which can be found only if you search user_source.
    (And in either case, you probably want to remove the commit)

  • How can I avoid using rollback segment for batch updates.

    I am currently trying to avoid associating a large amount of space for rollback segment as this gets filled up only during the nightly batch updates. All that space will never be used during the day. Hence want to know if there is any way of avoiding the use of rollback segment at the session level.
    Rajesh

    No, but what you can do is create a large rollback segment to use with your batch job, at the start of your batch job bring the segment online, then use set transaction to use that rollback segment, when the batch job is finished and committed, you can then bring the rollback segment offline.
    If you are really pressed for space, as an alternate plan, you could actually create the large segment before the batch job and drop it after.

  • Using Dreamweaver ftp for file upload to host question

    My local site is set up with links relative to the root document.
    The local root folder is defined as J:\xampp\htdocs\rootfilename\
    I have not put anything in the field HTTP Address so it just shows http://
    Once I have defined my remote site in the Dreamweaver setup I still have concerns regarding how dreamweaver will treat some of the links in my  localhost testing environment, I have changed some of the relative links to fully qualified paths such as :
    http://localhost/rootfilename/filename.php
    So my question is when i do the file transfer how does dreamweaver treat these full links, will it change localhost to the new host name, and the root directory name to the root directory name automatically for me (obviously after i have defined them in the remote site setup)?
    And what about my file path names such as my includes files which I have had to make a full path for example:
    include_once ("J:/xampp/htdocs/rootfilename/includes/filename.inc.php");
    Will Dreamweaver remove the J:/xampp stuff and give it the correct fully qualified path?
    Thank you in advance for your help, I just want to make sure everything is set up right before I start the transfer.

    No DW will not update absolute paths in your code. Absolute paths will remain exactly how you've typed them on upload.

  • Using stored procedures for insert, update and delete

    Hello all;
    We have a question from our customer (who is the DBA), who has not in the past used TopLink, about whether it makes sense to tie TopLink into existing stored procedures to save and retrieve informations.
    Is it possible?
    Is there any circumstance under which it is a good idea?
    Thanks

    In TopLink any operation for which TopLink generates SQL, can be replaced by custom SQL, or a stored procedure call.
    Custom SQL or stored procedures can be used for each of the descriptor's CRUD operations, but also for mapping queries and named queries. The Mapping Workbench only supports defining custom SQL for the descriptor CRUD operations and named queries, so many of the stored procedures call from the descriptor and mappings will need to be done through amendment methods.
    Whether it makes sense or not depends on the application and the company and their requirements. It will add significant overhead to the development process to have to define and maintain all of the stored procedures, and the stored procedure calls in the descriptors. You may wish develop your application using TopLink generated SQL, and once you have the model and queries stabilized then switch to using stored procedures.
    Whether it is a good idea depends on the application and the company and their requirements. Stored procedures may give the DBA more freedom to change the data-model once in production, and may allow for adding database-level security checks. In general using stored procedures will not improve performance if the procedures contain the same SQL that would have be executed anyway, but they may allow for the DBA to tune the SQL better.

  • I can't use my AppleID for the update of my apps.

    I'm stuck with a friend's ID. I can't even update apps that I've purchased with mine.

    If you need to sign into your device with your Apple ID go to
    iOS 5.1.1: Settings > Store > Select your friends Apple ID and Sign Out, then sign in with yours.
    iOS 6: Settings > iTunes and App Stores > Apple ID > Sign Out
    To eliminate this issue, you should delete any apps off your phone that were not purchased with your Apple ID. Although it's possible to have apps from two different Apple ID's on one device, it's complicated and can get confusing.

  • Signature Updates for AIP-SSM 10

    Hi all how can i obtain Signature Updates for AIP-SSM 10 where i am having 60 day trial license with me

    Here is the main file download page for the IPS sensors.
    Find the section for the version you are running and click on the Latest Signature Updates link to take to you to the download page for signature updates.
    You can then download which ever signature update you want.
    NOTE1: Each Signature Updates contains all signatures from previous Sig levels. So you only need to download the latest one.
    NOTE2: Each signature update has a specific E (Engine) level requirement. You can execute "show ver" on your sensor to determine if it is at an E1 or E2 level. If it is at E1 and you want the latest sigs that require E2 then you will first need to install the E2 upgrade.
    On that main download page look for the "Latest Upgrades" link for your version, and look for the IPS-engine-E2-req-X.X-X.pkg file where the X.X-X matches your sensor version.
    If there is not an X.X-X matching your sensor version, then you may need to upgrade the software version for your sensor as well.
    NOTE3: Many of these links will also require an account on cisco.com. And for some of these files that account may also need to be verified for being from a country where the USA's export restrictions allow downloads for encryption. (Most countries qualify but you do have to go through that qualification step). It has been over 10 years that I have had do this so I am not sure of the latest procedures for getting an account or validating it for encrpytion downloads.

  • IOS IPS Automatic Signature Update

    I will use cisco1941w.
    I'd like to know, how to configure at CLI and where is the URL.
    Is the bellow correct?
    CLI
    Router(config)# ip ips auto-update
    Router(config-ips-auto-update)# occur-at 0 0-23 1-31 1-5
    Router(config-ips-auto-update)# url https://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl
    Router(config-ips-auto-update)# username XXX password XXX
    URL
    https://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl

    Hello,
    A. Hete is what the six files do:
    • ios-ips-sigdef-default.xml: contains all the factory default signature definitions
    • ios-ips-sigdef-delta.xml: contains signature definitions that have been changed from the default
    • ios-ips-sigdef-typedef.xml: is a file that has all the signature parameter definitions
    • ios-ips-sigdef-category.xml: has all the signature category information, such as category ios_ips basic and advanced
    • ios-ips-seap-delta.xml: contains changes made to the default SEAP parameters
    • ios-ips-seap-typedef.xml: contains all the SEAP parameter definitions
    B. So the signature file (.pkg) is decompressed into these files and then 'idconf' loads them in memory.
    Hence to copy signature database of one router to the other, we need to copy atleast first 4 files.
    You only need to distribute the SEAP configuration if you modified any of the Signature Event Action Override configuration:
    We do not have one single file that contains all the signatures.  The signature package is installed in a certain way.
    Hence we will need atleast first 4 files to copy of signature database from one router to the other.
    C. Secondly, I dont know if auto-update will accept a file in .xmz package, I have not tested this.
    But I am guessing it will look for a .pkg file and decompress it.
    With copying a .xmz file, you may have to manually load it into memory using 'idconf' command.
    D. Hence there is no one single configuration file that you copy off the external ftp server.
    I guess, the only thing you can do is to have different routers update signatures at different times to reduce load on the network.
    It is also not necessary to check for signature updates every hour.
    Normal rate of adding new signature releases is every few days, so even if you check around once a day that should be ok.

  • Cellular Data for iTunes Match but not for app updates

    In iOS7 we can now have App updates downloaded automatically. Great. But if I want to use cellular data to stream songs from my iTunes Match library in iCloud when I'm on the road, but don't want to waste cellular data on App updates how can I do this?  It appears that enabling cellular data for iTunes Match also requires using cellular data for any of the four auto download features as well in Settings>iTunes & App Store. Am I seeing this correctly and is there a way to fix this?  I don't want to use cellular data for app updates, just for iTunes Match streaming.  Any help would be great.

    This looks like the same problem I've come across. From what I have been told, they are not separate, ie if you enable use cellular data to stream songs from iTunes Match you also have to download updated apps if you have it set to automatically download them.
    I think this should definitely be separated.
    The other thing you could do it go to another streaming music provider and then turn cellular downloads off. That's what I'm looking at doing.

  • Oracle 9i/10G DB authentication using Active Directory (with out OID)

    Hello All,
    We want to use a Single-Password authentication scheme using the Active
    Directory as the primary source for userId/Password.
    We don't want to use the Active Directory and OID bridge.
    As we have many databases and would like to configure all Databases to use Active
    Directory for Authentication. Our goal is to have single id/password across all
    the databases and any user should be able to login from any computer using their
    windows id/password, note that we don't want to use the OSAuthentication.
    We have read the documents provided by oracle for authentication using Active
    Directory, we were able to create Oracle Schema in Active Directory and were
    also able to register a DB with Active Directory and then created user as global
    user in Oracle Database and provided the DN of the user. When we tried
    authenticate with all this setup it comes back and says invalid ID/Password !!!
    And with 10G database we get the Oracle Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel !!
    Has any one tried or have information on Integrating Oracle to Auth against Active Directory?

    product ! )

    I have a thread started similar to your request.
    OS Authenication on Windows
    Somewhere I read this. It works on Oracle 9i on Linux, but I have not tried it with Oracle 9i on Windows.
    SHOW PARAMETER OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX;
    SHOW PARAMETER REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT;
    CREATE USER OPS$SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    GRANT CREATE SESSION TO OPS$SOMEUSER;
    For the username, I wonder if we are supposed to put the Windows Domain name as part of the username? Such as, for a Windows domain user MyDomain\SomeUser
    CREATE USER OPS$MYDOMAIN\SOMEUSER IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    I really wish Oracle or somebody created a guide or book on how to do this.

  • Using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE for DML

    What benefit is there to use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE for an UPDATE statement like the one below.
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'UPDATE mytable SET bonus = v_bonus(i)
                       WHERE empid =:empid AND sal =:sal'
                              USING v_empid(n),v_sal(i);This UPDATE sql is not dynamically created. So is there any performance benefit associated with using
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE for this UPDATE? Can't i just use a normal UPDATE without EXECUTE IMMEDIATE?

    Ran these same tests with SQL_Trace turned on, ran the trace files through tkprof and look at what it tells us:
    declare
    begin
    for i in 1 .. 100000 loop
    gso_prueba_a();
    end loop;
    end;
    call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Execute      1      0.07       0.08          0          0          0           1
    Fetch        0      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    total        2      0.07       0.08          0          0          0           1Now a slow one
    declare
    begin
    for i in 1 .. 100000 loop
    execute immediate 'call gso_prueba_b()';
    end loop;
    end;
    call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Execute      1     36.07      36.54          0          0          0           1
    Fetch        0      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    total        2     36.07      36.54          0          0          0           1but with this slow one, we see LOTS of recursive SQL - the 'call gso_prueba_b' is getting parsed a gazillion times with the resulting CPU consumption
    SQL ID : 1uu09hhqdp1yz
    call gso_prueba_b()
    call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Execute  99989      2.42       2.72          0          0          0           0
    Fetch        0      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    total    99990      2.42       2.72          0          0          0           0
    Misses in library cache during parse: 1
    Optimizer mode: ALL_ROWS
    Parsing user id: 91     (recursive depth: 1)
    SQL ID : dcstr36r0vz0d
    select procedure#,procedurename,properties,itypeobj#
    from
    procedureinfo$ where obj#=:1 order by procedurename desc, overload# desc
    call     count       cpu    elapsed       disk      query    current        rows
    Parse        1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Execute      1      0.00       0.00          0          0          0           0
    Fetch        2      0.00       0.00          0          4          0           1
    total        4      0.00       0.00          0          4          0           1Lots, lots more like this last one but having different SQL ID
    By wrapping the procedure call in a dynamically created anonymous block, you are incurring LOTS of overhead.
    What is it that you are trying to simulate.
    What are you trying to do?

  • Active dataguard for Oracle 10g SE

    Hi all,
    I am having Oracle 10g SE and i need to ship the logs to the standby can i use active dataguard for this.
    Regards,
    Bobs

    1)If i am having oracle 10g EE can i go for dataguard.Active DataGuard is a paid option of EE, you need to buy it additionally to EE.
    But DG is being installed by default in EE.
    2)If i am having 11g SE can i go for Active data guard.You must upgrade your license and buy Active DataGuard option, then upgrade installed Oracle software and database itself.
    And if it is userbased licence can i use dataguard in Oracle 10g SE.There is no dataguard in SE, there is just a manual applied standby.
    Difficult question. Some of Oracle resellers said, that manual standby is a backup option of SE, some of them said, that standby DB must be licensed as a primary.
    So you must contact to yours and discuss this.
    And also in 11g SE its userbased can i go for active dataguard.The same to 11g

  • Cisco 6500 IDSM Signature Updates

    Hi,
    One of my client has recently purchased Cisco IDSM-2 for their core router i.e. 7609, however the client has missed purchasing the SUSA licencing for signature updates.
    Can the client still configure the IDSM-2 without Signatue updates( in any mode) and what would be the limitations if he does not buys the SUSA in future too.
    Manmeet

    The only thing that can not be done without the SUSA license (IPS Subscription license) is to update the signature to the latest signature update file.
    You can still configure the IDSM2, the only thing that can't be performed is updating the signature to the latest.
    Hope that answers your question.
