Use of cube_build_log before creating workspace

Hello,
Our PL/SQL code uses the cube_build_log for error reporting. This code does not compile till the analytic workspace is created. We can make this part of the code as a dynamic SQL block. But is there any other alternative to this? Would appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks,
Satyadeep.

The cube_build_log is managed by a PL/SQL package named dbms_cube_log.  You can call a procedure to create this log table.  Below is an excerpt from the DBMS 11.2 doc on DBMS_CUBE_LOG:
Creating Cube Logs
To store logging information in a database table, you must create that table using the TABLE_CREATE procedure. Cube Build logs are always stored in tables. The ENABLE procedure creates the other target types for the other logs.
To create a Cube Build log:
Execute the TABLE_CREATE procedure.
The following command creates a Cube Build log with the default name of CUBE_BUILD_LOG:
EXECUTE dbms_cube_log.table_create(dbms_cube_log.type_build);

  • Which privileges are needed to create workspace for using existing schema

    Hi,
until now I always created new workspaces creating new schemas.
today I decided to use existing schemas. i created an user (default tablespace "users", with a lot of privileges (create any context, create table, etc..)
i tried to create a workspace.
now i got an error: no sufficient privileges for tablespace "users".
    how to solve ?
    Leo

Leo, you might try altering your site preferences using the apex_admin app so that it doesn't try to install the sample/demo applications during workspace creation. Then repeat the provisioning attempt. If it works, then you'll know the error had something to do with sample/demo app creation in the schema. If it still gives you an error we'll know that too.

  • Workspace in use or Cannot be Created

Is it possible to setup CFBuilder so files opened in Windows explorer open in the currently open instance.  The final release tries to spawn a new instance and displays "Workspace in use or Cannot be Created".  I got around this in Beta's but i can't find a workaround in the final release.

I will also pipe in and state that this is something that I have seen a few times, more
so on Windows 7 than any other version of Windows.
The problem is that there are times when you think you have closed ColdFusion Builder / Eclipse down, that it in fact is still actually running.
So when you go and try to use the same workspace you are presented with the message that it is in use or cannot be created.
The solution is simple, if this is the case with people then it is just a matter of killing that instance of Eclipse that is still running.

I shut down flex builder 3 and it said unable to save workbench state.
Now when I start it up it always says:
Workspace in use or cannot be created, choose a different one.
Any advice what I should do?

If rebooting does not fix the problem, you will need to find the .lock file in .metadata folder in your workspace and delete it. But that's only if you couldn't find a process locking your workspace.

I need your help with a decision to use iPhoto.  I have been a PC user since the mid 1980’s and more recently have used ACDSee to manage my photo images and Photoshop to edit them.  I have used ProShow Gold to create slideshows.  I am comfortable with my own folder and file naming conventions. I currently have over 23,000 images of which around 60% are scans going back 75 years.  Since I keep a copy of the originals, the storage requirements for over 46,000 images is huge.  180GB plus.
I now have a Macbook Pro and will add an iMac when the new models arrive.  For my photos, I want to stay with Photoshop which also gives me the Bridge.  The only obvious reason to use iPhoto is to take advantage of Faces and the link to iMovie to make slideshows.  What am I missing and is using iPhoto worth the effort?
If I choose to use iPhoto, I am not certain whether I need to load the originals and the edited versions. I suspect that just the latter is sufficient.  If I set PhotoShop as my external editor, I presume that iPhoto will keep track of all changes moving forward.  However, over 23,000 images in iPhoto makes me twitchy and they are appear hidden within iPhoto.  In the past, I have experienced syncing problems with, and database errors in, large databases.  If I break up the images into a number of projects, I loose the value of Faces reaching back over time.
Some guidance and insight would be appreciated.  I have a number of Faces questions which I will save for later.

Bridge and Photoshop is a common file-based management system. (Not sure why you'd have used ACDSEE as well as Bridge.) In any event, it's on the way out. You won't be using it in 5 years time.
Up to this the lack of processing power on your computer left no choice but to organise this way. But file based organisation is as sensible as organising a Shoe Warehouse based on the colour of the boxes. It's also ultimately data-destructive.
Modern systems are Database driven. Files are managed, Images imported, virtual versions, lossless processing and unlimited editing are the way forward.
For a Photographer Photoshop is overkill. It's an enormously powerful app, a staple of the Graphic Designers' trade. A Photographer uses maybe 15% to 20% of its capability.
Apps like iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture are the way forward - for photographers. There's the 20% of Photoshop that shooters actually use, coupled with management and lossless processing. Pop over to the Aperture or Lightroom forums (on the Adobe site) and one comment shows up over and over again... "Since I started using Aperture/ Lightroom I hardly ever use Photoshop any more..." and if there is a job that these apps can do, then the (much) cheaper Elements will do it.
The change is not easy though, especially if you have a long-standing and well thought out filing system of your own. The first thing I would strongly advise is that you experiment before making any decisions. So I would create a Library, import 300 or 400 shots and play. You might as well do this in iPhoto to begin with - though if you’re a serious hobbyist or a Pro then you'll find yourself looking further afield pretty soon. iPhoto is good for the family snapper, taking shots at birthdays and sharing them with friends and family.
Next: If you're going to successfully use these apps you need to make a leap: Your files are not your Photos.
The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
When you process an image in iPhoto the file is never touched, instead your decisions are recorded in the database. When you view the image then the Master is presented with these decisions applied to it. That's why it's lossless. You can also have multiple versions and waste no disk space because they are all just listings in the database.
These apps replace the Finder (File Browser) for managing your Photos. They become the Go-To app for anything to do with your photos. They replace Bridge too as they become a front-end for Photoshop.
So, want to use a photo for something - Export it. Choose the format, size and quality you want and there it is. If you're emailing, uploading to websites then these apps have a "good enough for most things" version called the Preview - this will be missing some metadata.
So it's a big change from a file-based to Photo-based management, from editing files to processing Photos and it's worth thinking it through before you decide.

  • How do I use Airport Extreme to create wired access point on wireless network?

Bit of an odd situation. I just went from cable to DSL at home and the modem moved from right by my computer to upstairs.
Trouble is, there's no real easy way to get a cable from the modem upstairs to my X-box (sans wireless connector) downstairs.
I could buy the wireless adaptor for the X-Box, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend any more money.
I have my airport extreme, and I was hoping I could use it to create a wired access point on the network, recieving the signal from the wireless modem upstairs and allowing me to plug in the X-Box.
Is this possible? If so, how? I've been through the config panel about a dozen times, but can't figure out what combination to set up.
    Thanks.

Will it work if I use the express to create the network?
Yes, providing that you have an 802.11n version of the AirPort Express and the Express has been configured to "Allow this network to be extended".
Then, the AirPort Extreme can be configured to "extend" the Express network. When you do this, the AirPort Extreme will provide more wireless coverage and the LAN Ethernet ports are enabled, so you can connect an Ethernet device.
This will not be a "normal" Ethernet connection. It will only work as well as the wireless "hop" between the Express and Extreme allow.
For best results and performance, a wired connection through the hole in the wall is always best. If you decide to do this, you will need the "new" AirPort Express with both a WAN and LAN port on the device. But, you could try wireless first to see if it will meet your goals before you reach for the tools.

  • How can I set a value in a field before create when a New button is clicked

    Hi,
    I am using
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.3984 and
    JHeadstart 10.1.3.1 release 10.1.3.1.26
I have one group and there is a detail group under that group.
From main group to detail group there are 3 field relating those groups.
    field1
    field2
    fieldSEQ (auto-generated by database trigger)
    These 3 fields are PK.
In the detail group, there is a New button. So, when the New button is clicked, it tries to create the record with those 3 fields value as those are coming from main group. As a result it's giving the duplicate error as that record already exists in the table.
But I don't want to create the record with that SEQ as that will be created in the trigger.
How can I set the SEQ temporarily any no. (-1) before create when the New button is clicked?
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks

    Hello Syad,
What I would suggest is setting the sequence number at the creation of the entity object (so in the create() method) by using the database sequence. This way it will always be unique.
    So something like:
    protected void create(AttributeList AttributeList) {
    super.create(AttributeList);
    SequenceImpl sequence =
    new SequenceImpl("KCP_SEQ", getDBTransaction());
    setFieldSeq( sequence.getSequenceNumber());
If this still does not solve it: please go to the ADF Forum since this problem is an ADF problem, not a JHeadstart problem.

  • Can I automate the creation of a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an autogenerated .CSV, C header, or XML file?

Can I automate the creation of a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an auto generated .CSV, C header, or XML file?  I'm trying to take the data structure defined in one or more of those files listed and have LabView automatically create a cluster with identical structure and data types.  (Ideally, I would like to do this with a C header file only.)  Basically, I'm trying to avoid having to create the cluster by hand, as the number of cluster elements could be very large. I've looked into EasyXML and contacted the rep for the add-on.  Unfortunately, this capability has not been created yet.  Has anyone done something like this before? Thanks in advance for the help.

Is this something you're trying to do at runtime? Clusters are fixed data structures so you can't change them programmatically. Or, are you just trying to create some typedef cluster controls so that you can use them for coding? What would your clusters basically look like? Perhaps another way of holding the information like an array of variants?
You can try LabVIEW scripting, though be aware that this is not supported by NI.
Wow!  Thanks for the quick response!  We would use this cluster as a fixed data structure.  No need to change the structure during runtime.  The cluster would be a cluster of clusters with multiple levels.  There would be not pattern as to how deep these levels would go, or how many elements would be in each.   Here is the application.  I would like to be able to autocode a Simulink model file into a DLL.  The model DLL would accept a Simulink bus object of a certain data structure (bus of buses), pick out which elements of the bus is needed for the model calculation, and then pass the bus object.  I then will take the DLL file and use the DLL VI block to pass a cluster into the DLL block (with identical structure as the bus in Simulink).  To save time, I would like to auto generate the C header file using Simulink to define the bus structure and then have LabView read that header file and create the cluster automatically.   Right now I can do everything but the auto creation of the cluster.  I can manually build the cluster to match the Simulink model bus structure and it runs fine.  But this is only for an example model with a small structure.  Need to make the cluster creation automated so it can handle large structures with minimal brute force. Thanks!

This code is badly broken. In addition to resizing the actual handle to hold the number of string handles you also would need to create the string handles itself before attempting to write into them. NumericArrayResize is the fucntion to use as it will either resize an existing handle (if any) or create a new one if the value is uninitialized (NULL).
/* resize strarr to hold handles to NUMSTRINGS strings */

    hi,

My objective is i want only sql workshop no need Application builder and utilities while creating workspace in Oracle Apex.
    guide me
    regards
    apex

Ummm... OK. But why? If you only need a SQL tool why not use SQLDeveloper or some other tool? Is it that you want a web browser interface?
It would be very unwise to try to remove the applications you mention from the apex installation. This is probably possible but potentially very risky as the stability of your apex installation is concerned.
You might want to try taking a CSS approach and hide all the stuff you don't want to see via a custom CSS file that you could put in your installation.

P.S. If you're going to ask how to do this then it's probably not something you're ready to do.

  • How to use class.getResource() to create an ImageIcon

    Hi,
I am well acquainted with creating and using ImageIcon icons using the ImageIcon constructor
and putting the image file in a folder called Images which is at the same level as the
    bin and src folders.
I discovered a demo program, LayeredPaneDemo, that uses class.getResource() to create
an icon and found that in my eclipse version, the icon's image file was not found when
I used the original getResource() call but the icon was created when I used the ImageIcon
    constructor.
I posted on JavaRanch and eventually realized that the image file needed to be with the
.class files, so I moved the Images folder under bin and getResource() works fine and I'm
    happy.
However, I have three questions for you.
One poster on JavaRanch told me that it's better to use getResource() rather than the
ImageIcon constructor for distributing an app (I'm not distributing anything but want
    to do it all correctly).
Do you agree with that or can I safe keep using the ImageIcon constructor?
Another poster told me he doesn't think it's safe to leave the image file in bin because
it might be lost during the build in eclipse and that there is a way to have eclipse copy
the files to bin during the build which should mean that I can leave the images folder at
the level of bin and src.
    Do you agree with that?
If yes, how do I get eclipse to copy the file during the build?
    P.S.
Before I posted on JavaRanch, I put the Images folder at every level of the project's
directory as shown in eclipse (which is why I missed the bin folder until JavaRanch
whacked me upside the head) and getResource() still didn't work.

The contents of the Java Source folder are compiled if they're source files, copied otherwise (assuming no filter's been put in place to prevent copying), so your images belong under a source folder.
