Use of JavaScript in Adobe Forms

Hi guru's...
Are there any restrictions in the use of JavaScript Coding within Livecycle Designer?
Which objects, methods and/or functions can be used and which can't?
Is there a reference guide for this?
And is there a way to use some kind of debugging for testing the JavaScript code within an Adobe Form?

How to use nested tables in adobe form

Hi All,
I have to use nested tables in adobe form for table display. I have used Subforms for displaying table data. I have changed accessibility of the subforms. Currently i am able to print print the table correctly if there is single material record in table 1 and single corresponding record in table 2. But the requirement is that i will have multiple lines in table 1 for single material and only one record in table 2.
EX: form is for Sales order. in line items if the order is for 100 units then we if we have delivered material as 80, 10, 10, then table 1 will have 3 lines for this. Table 2 will always have only 1 corresponding record.

But how to show multiple lines for table 1 and 1 line for table 2.

Set the body page as flowed and set the tables also flowed.
go to bodypage>object->subform-->select flowed option.
I thihnk this will work..if u are getting all the records properly into the tables 1 and 2.

Javascript in Adobe forms

Hi All,
How do we write Javascript in adobe forms to display a text at the end of the master page. this master page count varies based on the number of records in the table. So suppose at the last page I want to display a text. How do we achieve that??

Master Page will be displayed on every normal page .
So the alternate solution is make your pages as flow layout. Arrange the things properly.
After the table or at the end of all the elements you can make a text field for the number of records.
So as soon as the table is filled the elements are scrolled down and automatically at the end of the page the text field with number of records will be shown.

Accessing Context Data with JavaScript in Adobe Form

Hi,
does anybody know, how to access a context element with javascript in an adobe form, because I have to decide which elements will be shown at the form, depending on one context value.

Hi,
First of all your WD context is mapped to the data view in the form. You can only access via scripting what is mapped to the data view and you get the values that the PDF currently has stored. The WD context and the data values in the context might differ (eg. due to editing).
Use scripting like xfa.resolveNode("xfa.dataset.data.<path.to.the.node>") to get a reference to the data node.
Then you can use the "value" property to access the data value.

How to use MICR fonts in Adobe forms (webdynpro java

Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to print some MICR codes (for checks) through Adobe Forms.
I have installed some true type MICR fonts in windows and Adobe Font Manager (in ADS) as well.
It is visible in the Adobe Form design time (Font palette) and when I use the font for text, it is visible in preview too. But when I run the web dynpro application, in the online form it is converted into Standard font (Times new Roman).
Is there anyway to handle this issue.
Please let me know.

How to write a application using WDJ with the adobe form ?

Hi, experts,
I don't know how to write a application using !!webdynpro for java!! with the adobe form so that I can fill data to the adobe form and get data from the adobe form.
Note: I have configed the ADS(adobe document services),and I can create a application with a interactiveform in webdynpro for abap and run it successfully, so that I can fill data to the adobe form and get data from the adobe form.
Do you give me some hint?

Events with Scrpts and JavaScript in ADOBE forms

Hello All,
On an Adobe form I have field for sub totals. I am trying to choose 'Events with Scripts' on the SHOW pull down values and choose JavaScript in the language. I was able to do this some time ago but now, I am able to choose Events with Scripts but not being able to choose JavaScript for language.
I do not have much exp. with Adobe or JavaScript but I checked whatever I could think of but could not figure out. Any body ran into this issue before? Any ideas?

By trial and error, what I did is, chose 'Calculate' in the Show menu then chose JavaScript in the Language pull down menu. Then added my JavaScript code. Then went back and change 'Calculate' in the Show menu to Events with Scripts. Saved and executed it . It worked.

Accessing Form context fields in javascript in Adobe forms

Hi,
I want to hide some elements in the Adobe form with respect to the value of a Form context field.
If this field is mapped to an element in the Form layout then we can access it using data.<field>.rawValue, but this field is not mapped to any element on the layout.
Please help me if anyone knows it.

The coding you are showing is FormCalc used by LiveCycle Designer.
This is the forum for Acrobat Acrobat forms, there is a separate series of forums for LiveCycle Designer. If you are using LiveCycle Designer please post in the appropriate LiveCycle forum.

Using comment tools in adobe form fields

Is there any way to enable commenting tools so they work within pdf form fields? I have created a pdf form, and as part of the review process (once the form is completed), other users need to be able to use commenting features on the text entered into the form fields (i.e. highlighting, strikethrough, etc.). I haven't found any way to do this within the fields themselves.

Acrobat can flatten all form fields / comments via Preflight (which lives in the Print Production tool pane) - select "single fixups" - the wrench icon - then type "flatten" in the search box to find the "Flatten all form fields" fixup, and run it.
You can also flatten everything via the JS console. Press Ctrl-J to open the console, clear it with the trash icon, enter the command this.flattenPages() and press ENTER.
If you want more control over what is flattened, we have a free add-on for Acrobat here.
Note that you cannot flatten a Reader-extended document, so you must first use the File > Save a Copy menu item to de-extend your form.
Once flattened it's no longer a form, so the field values become part of the page (and can receive annotation markup). However to allow markup in Reader, you will have to re-extend the PDF usage rights.

Is WebDyn ABAP or WebDyn JAVA better for developing Adobe forms ?

For our project development we have to decide the option of using Webdynpro ABAP and Webdynpro Java for developing Interactive forms.
What are the pros and cons when it come to select between Webdynpro ABAP and Webdynpro Java for developing Interactive forms.
Can someone provide the advantages and disadvantages over each other.

Hi Vinay,
It depends on various factors. one is skill availability. IF client has Strong ABAP Development team, Client can go with WebDynpro ABAP, but if client has more Java skills, no issue in going with WebDynpro Java.
In HR, If you choose to use WD-ABAP, you can use many standard WD-ABAP components as search helps. ( WD-abap components HRRCF_C* , HRASR_C* etc )
But do keep in mind that, even if you go with WD-ABAP, you cannot do away with scripting using FormCalc or Javascript in Adobe Form depending on the complexity & UI elements/Search helps etc.
I personally prefer WD-ABAP & would strongly recommend WD-ABAP. Afterall, it is the language of SAP :).

Adobe Form output cropped when sent directly from SAP to printer

I have created an Adobe Form (not interactive) that looks perfectly OK when previewed in Adobe Acrobat viewer but when printed blank margins of 4-5 millimeters are applied on all 4 paper edges. The form was designed with a coloured frame around it but the margins effectively remove most of the frame. The form content is being cropped instead of being compressed inside the margins.
The form has been created with LiveCycle Designer via SAP transaction SFP. I am generating the form from an ABAP program
When the form is printed from the Adobe Acrobat viewer I have the option to set Page Scaling to 'Fit to Printable Area'. This makes the form content being compressed inside the blank margins and the coloured frame remains intact. If I leave the Page Scaling setting as 'None' the output is being cropped as described above.
The real problem occurs when I want to print without previewing first. I need to do that since previewing enables the user to skip printing and the application must know if the form has been printed or not. I have so far found no way to make the printer print on the paper edges or fit the content to printable area. Is there some setting in the output parameters than handles this?
Also there is a need for duplex printing when sending form directly to printer. On help.sap.com there is information about duplex print for SAPscript and Smartforms but nothing for Adobe Forms.
Here is an excerpt of the ABAP code used for printing the Adobe Form:

However I need some more specific information to solve this.
Which printer layout settings are relevant for the handling of margins and duplex printing for Adobe Forms?
I have not set up the printer myself but when talking to the printer guy which settings should I recommend him to look at?
I can see in transaction SPAD that there are settings specific to SmartForms but there is nothing said about Adobe Forms. Is there some way to make Adobe Forms related setting appear in SPAD for a device type?
Maybe my problem is not related to the printer device settings but rather to the way the printer is being called. When printing duplex we will have to override the default settings of the printer anyway.
Function module FP_JOB_OPEN has a parameter structure of the type SFPOUTPUTPARAMS. Which fields in this parameter structure are to be manipulated to get duplex print and output fitted to page size?

Adobe form Through Email

Hello Gurus,
My requirement is to send the Adobe form via Email as attachment.
Am using FM "FP_JOB_OPEN", Generated Adobe Form FM and FP_JOB_CLOSE.
Here, am getting PDF format in "FPFORMOUTPUT-PDF".
As "FPFORMOUTPUT-PDF" is in format of xstring, We need to convert it to Binary and for this am using FM "SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY".
Code:
data: li_att_content_hex type standard table of x.

I believe you standard text is a table type of TDLINES.
On the form you would display it with a table of 1 column 1 row with repeat row ticked.
Have the like below code on the fomr ready event of your table.

Note: in my example I had a table with one row names Row1 and 2 fields cell1 type textbox, & xx as text / label.
If its like you have it in a text box with multiple entries, we need to spli the value such that 1st row is displayed in a text box whose parameters are by defeult set to font red, and rest of them to this text area.
If your procedure is table the code sud work, else let me know how you get data and how do you display it on the screen.
